Casa Toro in Doylestown is a great casual Mexican spot--flavorful food, great energy, and standout service. I ordered the blackened mahi-mahi tacos, and they were excellent. The fish was perfectly cooked--flaky with a smoky char--and paired really well with the fresh, tangy slaw and light toppings. A squeeze of lime brought everything together. The seasoned rice was fluffy and well-balanced, and the black beans were rich and satisfying. Shoutout to our server Mike, who was fantastic--great energy, attentive, and genuinely made the experience better. Great service, fast and attentive. Noisy, inside atmosphere with a lot of unruly children when we went. They did have an outside patio but it was very hot and humid so we opted for inside. Portions were good. We had the street corn soup. Fresh, but a little spicy. Entrees were pork carnitas and the Toro combo. Here was my issue. I'm a taco girlie through and through and I thought bad tacos were a thing of bad dreams. Casa Toro proved that they do exist. They were dry, flavorless and served with a tiny side of rice that seemed more of an afterthought than part of the meal. His burger, just as disappointing. Struggling with what more to say or "review" but nothing at all was memorable, not even memorably bad, just memorably bland. Chalking this up to a bad day for the chef and may stop back but for now I wouldn't recommend Casa Toro to satisfy that taco craving. read more

Fantastic food, margarita, and service. A friend and I stopped here on a whim and boy were we glad. You can get traditional Tex Mex, healthy options and some Cuba food. I had the salmon and pineapple shrimp dish with grilled vegetables and black beans. There was enough food for 2 meals, and the black beans were the best I ever had. I was in the area with my wife and friends for an event and Casa Toro Doylestown was in the area. It was recommended so we made it a stop for dinner. The restaurant was very empty at 5pm on a Wednesday, and it pretty much was our choice of seats. They even have several outdoor tables if desired. We were fortunate that it was Happy Hour which gives you discounted House Margaritas, Mexican Beer, and Mojitos. We started with the margaritas. My wife wanted a frozen one and our waiter tried to get her to change her mind to the rocks because they do not have a margarita machine; only a blender that he said took away the flavor with the crushed ice. She still wanted the frozen and the waiter's point was proven as mine was much better according to my wife. So, for round two she went with the on the rocks. Our friend had a decent mojito, and other friend also had the rocks margarita. These were not on the sweet side and had ample tequila taste. A small round plate of house nachos with pico is given to all tables, and we ordered an appetizer of Bierra Nachos. They had the same house chips (almost too many compared to the amount of meat) but the flavor was excellent. They went quickly. For our main, my wife had a chimichanga which was like the size of a football packed with so much stuff that half of it came home. My friend and I had tacos Al pastor which also had grilled pineapple within. These three tacos were also fresh and fine. The white rice was nothing special and the ramekin of guacamole was nice. Our server was on top of things for our meal, and quite the talker but friendly. There were some tables not cleared so I don't know if they had enough staff on hand or some were just not into clearing tables. I'm guessing on weekends and nighttime this place can get rocking. Good food, great happy hour value, and a fun time at Casa Toro. About $130 not including tip for eight drinks, one appetizer, and four mains. Recommended! read more

This is a delightful atypical Mexican restaurant in Doylestown, PA. It's located in a nice strip mall, has an attractive space and inside/patio seating. We were greeted promptly when we arrived and were seated at a high top. Our server was friendly and got our drink orders right away. They have a wide variety of adult refreshments. My brother and his wife had margaritas. I had a Dos Equis Amber on tap. All were great. My wife had the tostone,which she like, but couldn't finish (it's big!). My sister-in- law had the chicken tinga tacos. She loved them. My brother had the margarita brisket which is brisket marinated in tequila and dark beer with some added spices. He prefers mild dishes and this one was too hot for him. I'd probably like it. I had the paella. It was wonderful. Shrimp, mussels, fish, scallops and some spicy sausage to perk it up served over rice. It was quite good. I'll come back when I'm in Doylestown again. read more

Went to Casa Toro and enjoyed a very good meal. The restaurant was clean and we were greeted immediately. Our server was pleasant, checked on us frequently, and our food was delivered at perfect time intervals. The Patron bottle light fixtures added a nice touch to each table and the sauce, accompanying our chips, was flavorful and at the perfect spiciness. The menu surprisingly had a Cuban food section, which we happily chose yuca fries, sweet plantains, and rice and beans. All of our entrees were enjoyed and at the right temperature. I had the muscles as an appetizer and they melted in your mouth. I could have easily had 4 plates of them! Fantastic! Our sister surprised us with a birthday lunch door dash delivery so we had no clue what was in our giant bag of eats but we were thrilled with every single item. The burrito, was huge and heavenly, the variety of tacos was a solid selection. Guac and Pico were super fresh. I have been wanting to come here for years and since my (elderly and old school) parents don't like Mexican food (or so they thin) I was finally able to dine outside on a cool late summer Friday evening. The weather was spectacular plus we were seated right away (make a reservation people, it gets busy and they are not open much past 8:30 PM). Marina, our fabulous server, brought us beers and pineapple mojitos (so good!) and my man and I shared the 2 ears of elote. PERFECTION!!! Finally went to Casa Toro (before indoor dining was closed) and I had the best experiences. There prices were higher compared to other Mexican restaurants but the quality was better for sure - really fresh tasting food you can tell is made fresh. I got a special seasonal sangria which was really good as well as a burrito bowl with shrimp. The portion size was just right for me. My friend ordered fajitas which looked really good- I'll definitely have to try them next. Your dine in experience also comes with chips and salsa which was so fresh and tasty. I came here with my girlfriend and a couple friends after they recommended this restaurant. Upon walking in I noticed the nice decor. That's where my enjoyment stopped. The service is slow and our waiter only came back to the table once. But what about the food? That's the most important thing after all. Unfortunately that was also a let down. We started off with guacamole and queso. The guacamole had a strange taste to it and it reminded me of some chemical. The queso wasn't too bad, but it didn't incorporate any other flavors than cheese. For dinner I got Tacos Al Pastor with a side of a chicken enchilada and poblano peppers. The tacos tasted good, but they were very dry and almost seemed reheated. The rice and beans that it came with were also dry and didn't have much flavor. The enchilada also tasted good, but again it was dry. Lastly the peppers... they were very oily, but besides that they tasted good. Would I recommend coming here? Only if I was in a pinch. You can get way better food and service somewhere else (Rey Azteca comes to mind) while not traveling that much farther. read more

The menu has plenty to choose from, from traditional to house specials. As a vegetarian, I found it very easy to find something to eat and it came out hot and fast! The house made margaritas are also amazing. They offer a handful of different flavors and they are all great! My friend and I went here for dinner after work. We were served right away. When our server came to our table we were given chips and salsa which were yummy and great because we were both starving! The booths were big and comfortable and everything seemed clean and welcoming. I really liked the patron lights they have hanging above the booths. I thought that was a creative light fixture. After we ordered our food came out pretty fast. I ordered the Tres Amigos to have a sampling of some favorites. I really liked the enchiladas and the shredded chicken taco. I wish there was a little bit more rice, but overall there was a great amount of food. I ended up not finishing everything so that I could order some dessert. I ordered the churros which were so yummy! Definitely my favorite meal of the night (but I am a huge dessert person so it's usually my favorite whenever I go out to eat). Zero stars for service, 4 stars for food... Service was extremely subpar. I'd expect better from a neighborhood diner. The food runners didn't even know which entrees were which when they were delivered to our table, which resulted in us needing to return a dish and resulted in a very confused server. One of our entrees was basically cold by the time it was sorted out. During dinner we had empty appetizer dishes and glasses on our table which sat for awhile before anyone bothered to clear them, and when they did didn't offer to refill drinks or ask if we wanted another round. Clearing our meal was a whole different adventure. A busboy began stacking plate after plate on his arm and then proceeds to point and gesture at another plate for us to hand to him to stack up even further. Honestly it comes down to management. The runners were not trained properly to even know what they were serving, the bussers were unprofessional and the server seemed overworked and overwhelmed. Not once did we see a restaurant manager appear or walk around. To top it off when I went to use the restroom the dispenser was empty but there was a pyramid of TP on top of the toilet tank i guess in case you wanted to stock it yourself... Will we return? My husband's coworkers insisted this was a must try place. I'm assuming they have never been to Rey Azteca (top notch).. or Las Margaritas for that matter (okay Mexican food). The service was absolutely subpar. The waiter came by to give us drinks and take our food order. He then came over to see if we needed boxes. Aside from that, we saw him pass by our table repeatedly.. to float around by the front door or just walk around, seemingly bored. The restaurant was not very busy and he surely didn't have much to do. We never got the complimentary chips and salsa, since he never decided to deliver them to our table. We did see, in the menu, that the first batch was free and any subsequent batch would be $3. What? Most other places give you unlimited free chips and salsa. Anyway.. we never got even 1 batch. The food we orderes took for ev er. And why? The chicken in the enchiladas tasted reheated, so it certainly shouldn't have taken very long. The rice is like a cross between Spanish rice and Chinese rice. Why was it full of peas and corn? The black bean sludge was okay. My son called it slimy. Fair assessment. My husband's enchiladas came with onion on top. Mine did not. Uh, which way is it supposed to be? The decor is gaudy. Inflatable beer bottles and other weird inflatables hung all over. Not necessarily consistent and just plain tacky. Another tacky thing is their ploy to get votes for Best of Bucks. They will give you 5% off (up to $5) if you vote them best Mexican of Bucks. I have a discernible palate and standards, so I opted to pay full price. Prices are outrageous for the amount and quality of food at Casa Toro. Again, I'm going by my regular standards of QUALITY Mexican food at Rey Azteca. At RA, you get 2x the amount of food for half the price. My husband made a bad call by choosing Casa Toro. He admitted his fault when we left. The positives are that the bathroom was relatively clean, the girl working at the front desk was pleasant, and my son thought the nacho appetizer was good, minus the slimy beans. All-in-all, I was thoroughly unimpressed. I will not return and I do not recommend it. read more

My family (parents & 2 young adults) went to the Doylestown Casa Toro on a Saturday afternoon. Around 1:30 pm. The place was mostly empty. The food was bad. The service was bad. The drinks were bad. It took a very long time to have our order taken, for the food to come, for the drinks to come, and to eventually get our check. We saw annoyed frustration on the faces of the few other customers. Waiting. Waiting. The restaurant seemed short staffed until just about when we left, near to 4pm. Then staff starting coming in. Idea: if you have no staff between 1 and 4, don't open. It really screws over the customers that come in that time period. What was bad about the place besides the l o n g wait? The food. Dried out dog food looking Birria Tacos. An order of Honey Chipotle Shrimp Fajitas. Without the tortillas to put the filling in. Never came. We had to go find a person to get some. Tasteless Flautitas. Bland Enchiladas. The drinks were not good either. Overall disappointing. Makes me so mad that they got $200 from us for slop. read more

So impressed. Called for curbside takeout for four including the chips/guac/pico and drink mix deal. In addition to cabin fever, I've got some picky eaters in my family and so, the expectation is something would be forgotten, excluded, or wrong. Perfectly acceptable given we are in the midst of a pandemic and frankly, I'm grateful for a night of not having to cook or negotiate on one thing everyone will eat. Casa Toro not only gave us exactly what we wanted but it was over the top. The mix for their famous margarita's (sans alcohol) was just like the real deal. Our selection included a sopeton, fajitas, carnitas and salad was nothing short of delicious and plentiful.
