Came to this restaurant in Decatur because we had heard great things. Definitely lived up to the expectations of the supper club. The guacamole was excellent. My fellow diners had the carne asada, they raved about the quality of the beef. It is served pounded flat, but was juicy and cut with a fork. I had cheese enchilada, taco and rice and beans. We travel a lot and use yelp to find good food and good service. We stopped here for supper. Waiter was really friendly and he knew the menu well. He recommended fajitas for two. Salsa and fresh chips and ice cold tea tasted really great. When fajitas arrived at the table it was a beautiful heaping hot mess of beef onions and peppers. We both dug in and bit into our first fajita at the same time. We both made eye contact and with our mouths full we said that's the best fajitas I've ever had. And they were. In town for a mini road trip and were on the hunt for local Tex-Mex. We totally scored here! We stopped by on a Friday right at the beginning of the dinner rush. There was a bit of a wait - maybe a few minutes - before we were seated. They were packed! Our waiter promptly took our drink order and chips and salsa were dropped off soon after. I ordered the cheese enchilada meal (two enchiladas, rice and beans). Very good! Not too greasy and rich. My husband had the carne guisada and said that is was very good. The chips and salsa were also very good. Our waiter was very friendly and courteous and the restaurant itself is beautiful. It seemed like it was brand new. Where all the locals go for upscale Mexican food. Very casual, super fast, large seating area, ultra clean and no crowded tables. Menu is easy with nothing real special, try the combination fajita nachos with all the fixings, half order serves one, full order easily serves two people. This was our second time dining at Casa Torres after seeing doctors in Decatur. The first time was good, thus our decision to eat there today. We arrived around 3:00 pm for a late lunch/early dinner. We were seated promptly. The server arrived a short time later to take our drink order. No greeting, hello, or welcome offered. This should've been our clue as to his attitude. The chips and salsa arrived soon after. The server returned and took our order. Our food arrived a bit later and after practically throwing the plates down on the table..the server never once came back to our table to check on us....until time to leave the check. He even walked through the dining room several times waiting on the 2 other tables he had. He just ignored us. Although he didn't seem to have a problem chatting and laughing with the busboys when they came to clear tables. As for the food...we ordered the steak fajitas for two. The meat was a tough and greasy. The tortillas were like what I buy at the store. The rice and beans were ok...but cold. The guacamole was obviously not made fresh. Ate here for the first time this week and have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. First off, I must like the chips and hot sauce when I try a new place. These didn't disappoint. Very fresh and basket was kept filled. They had a large lunch section including Carne Asada which I must say was very good. It came with an enchilada which was a surprise bonus. The place was packed but they found enough tables to pull together to make us welcome and comfortable. We have been going to Casa Torres since it opened at the original location and usually go at least once a week. The service is excellent! It has never disappointed! Some things I like better than others but it is consistently good - the Street Tacos and Chicken Monterrey are my favorites. The queso is creamy and mild which allows everyone to spice it as they chose with the FANTASTIC homemade salsa! They also have a "Spicy" salsa for the more daring - just ask. We ordered fajitas for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The beef and chicken meat was delicious and perfectly seasoned. All of the fixings for the fajitas were also excellent. We order for 18 people but could have easily fed 25 or more. All in all an excellent experience.
