The food and drinks here are delightful. I came in on the 4th of July and had their chips and salsa with a side of guacamole. For my entree I ordered the cancun salad which was very fresh, healthy and filling. For my refreshment, I had their mango tequila. It was spicy and full of flavor. This place has become my go-to for a pre-night out! With attentive servers (actually both times i've been it's always just this one, amazing gal who runs all the tables) and that particular, quaint vibe to the restaurant, it definitely hits that mark for service and ambiance. What a terrific little tequila lounge! Fantastic selection of tequila and some terrific food to nosh on that compliments the drink. The decor inside is really trendy and the seats are very comfortable. We ordered 4 different appetizers and were able to make a meal out of it. We will definitely be going back. Came here for the first time time coincidentally during happy hour with coworkers. I was told that the cascabel and devil fries were amazing and luckily those were both on the happy hour menu. I was a little hungry for just fries so I also ordered the flautas and the sangria. I wasn't blown away by the sangria but I heard the margaritas were really good! Would most likely come back to try to spicy margarita instead of the sangria. The location is nice and snug but if you are lucky you can snag the window seats if you have a bigger group like we did. My coworker wanted dessert but unfortunately their only dessert on the menu was out. Luckily Cascabel shares their space with Crepevine so we ordered some sweet crepes for dessert that were brought to us to our table. Only downside is that they don't open until 3pm so we can't even come here for lunch since we work nearby. But we will for sure come back for happy hour. read more

They have a variety of chairs as well as bar seating. This is the kind of place you can come and hang out at for 2 hours straight. My husband and I sort of wandered in here one night when we were strolling 4th street. First impression was - what a cozy spot! Love the decor. We sat at the bar, I was impressed with the cocktails! Our bartender, Khin, was fantastic! I've never had a Paloma I liked until Cascabel! We ordered steak nachos - delicious! Stopped in for happy hour, more than pleased. $7 happy hour margaritas that are delicious. Such good quality tequila they use. This place was a very pleasant surprise. It's tucked right next to Crepevine, across the street from State Room. We stumbled upon it after lunch one weekend at State Room. We had already eaten, however the menu looked so good we actually ate again! Basic bar stuff, but done uniquely and well. Diablo fries with jalapeño jelly and cheese? Yes please. The real star of this place however is their bar. Their extensive tequila menu, and their super knowledgeable staff (shout out to Khin who always gives us the most amazingly unique tequila shots and concoctions) make this place a hidden gem. Identity crisis? Seems to start at the entrance - Crepevine to the right, Cascabel to the left...yet both menus available at Cascabel? The eclectic decor is funky and cool although some of the wider chairs seemed to further exaggerate the already narrow, "boxcar" feel. Sidewalk table is inviting, but both times we walked by, a homeless person was stretched out on it sleeping. Odd selection of music, lots of disco and 70s, but Latino channel of the TV with boxing matches played without volume. The make your own margarita is an okay idea, but I just wanted a nice plain top-shelfer and found it lacking any character at all - and "under-poured" IMHO. The spicy Moscow Mule was over-the-top sweet, maybe too much ginger beer? We dipped our toe in the water for guac and chips - finished two rounds before they made it to the bar and had to ask what was up while a couple next to us who arrived later knoshed on their full order of something. Dudes, it's chips and guac! The verde dip was spicy and good, but the other dish contained what seemed like the bottom of a watery can of black beans. Terrible and tasteless, I would never mistake it for salsa or a dip for that matter. After a half hour wait, it needed to be lots better. Lots. We were hoping to find a new alternative to Marinitas, but this ain't it. It feels like a bad pop-up project instead of cozy neighborhood Mexican hang that we had hoped...Marinitas is looking quite awesome right about now. read more

The salt rim was barely seen, and the worst part that after almost finishing the drink I noticed a hair in the drink I understand that the place is new, but I honestly think that they should have not opened with such an offer. I am not sure why I had not stopped in here before, but I will most definitely return. Small, cozy space and seating, friendly bartenders and servers, and terrific fish tacos!! Yes, at $9.50 for two they aren't cheap, but each had a big piece of crispy, perfect fish with delicious drizzle of smoky chipotle type sauce and an ass-kicking side of a Serrano chili sauce. The crunch of the fish and cabbage and the two sauces made me really satisfied. I had a beer, but am looking forward to trying some of the mezcal or tequila based cocktails I watched being prepared.
