Cascos saved my grandmothers birthday yesterday!!! My grandmother is diabetic, yesterday was her 84th birthday. I called numerous bakeries asking about sugar free cakes/pastries; even the most well known bakeries in Queens didn't have ANY options. I started to panic and finally found Cascos. They advertise sugar free cakes on their website. I called them and a sweet lady answered and said she had Cannoli cake and Seven layer available and not to worry just to pick them up later. Well I was EXTREMELY swamped at work and thought for sure I would not be able to make it. I called when I got out of work and apparently the owner picked up. He said they had to close at 7 but that he would leave the cake for me out back. I asked about payment and he said if I like it come back and pay him another day. WHAT?!?!?! This is literally the most amazing customer service I've ever received in my life!!!!!!! I got there at 7:20 and sure enough the cake was there. It made my grandmothers 84th birthday such a happy and successful one. Cascos literally saved the day! They deserve all of my business and all of yours too. It is clear that they CARE. Cascon cheesecakes has always been a go-to bakery for family and friends and it's easy to figure out why--their stuff is delicious! Exactly why my husband and I were so ecstatic when we found out that our wedding cake would be made by Cascon! We scheduled a tasting on a weeknight and met with one of the managers--I want to say his name was Joe? He was a sweetheart! I showed him the cake design I wanted and he said it would be no problem. He did advise us to ask our venue if we could get a 5th tier thrown in because of how pretty it looked with the extra tier. When our venue turned us down and was going to charge us, they still made it for us anyway! I was so grateful and touched by this because it really did look gorgeous. Although it may have seemed like a small gesture--it spoke volumes to us! When it comes to wedding vendors--they very rarely "throw in" anything. We chose vanilla cake with chocolate mousse and fresh custard with strawberries. It was absolutely delicious! It was perfectly moist and creamy and everyone loved it! I have been coming to this bakery for many years and I love everything about it. From their bagels in the morning with my coffee, to the dessert selections. Warning! You can not stop at just one. Walked in for the first time only to be greeted by the owner who helped me with my order. Told him it was my first time at the bakery and he gave me a rainbow cookie to try. Great customer service. I've bought a mini cheesecake from them and thought that was good, but not memorable. I wanted to give them a second chance so I bought a strawberry cheesecake from them. The cheesecake was ok, but not great. Firstly, the outside edges of the cake was hard, like it's been frozen and then sat out for a few days, not a few hours. The strawberry was just canned strawberry spread put on top of the cheesecake. The spread also didn't look fresh because when i cut into it, the spread which should've been syrupy was more gelatinous. Overall, I think I'll stick with La Cheesecake. They use real fruit on top of their cheesecake, and the presentation is so much better. Maybe just stick to their mini cheesecakes if you decide to go to Cascon. Those seems more fresh than the bigger ones sitting in the fridge. read more

I recently came to Cascon because of a recommendation that it was similar to a cheesecake baked "by your Nonna " , thought I'd give it a try. I had to give it a star down because the cheesecake was honestly solid frozen at 3pm. The staff was not the happiest, but I get it .. it's a Sunday you wanna go home . I understand that cheesecake needs to be freezed overnight but not at 3pm still. In regards to the cake, it was definitely creamy, but I think I need to go back on a Monday because it definitely wasn't the freshiest on a Sunday ... it started to get that shelf taste around it. Even if you're not close by, it's well worth the trip. I had the benefit of living in this neighborhood for several years where I could WALK to this place. That was dangerous. Since I passed through Whitestone the other day I decided to go back and treat myself (and of course my husband :) to cheesecake. Luckily for us, they still carry the mini cheesecakes, so I got a few of those. If we had to get a whole cheesecake (as if that would be a punishment!) we would have inhaled it in little more than a sitting. And I wouldn't be writing the review right now; I'd have my butt at the gym in spin class to make up for calories. Back to the minis...I got an assortment of flavors: regular, marble swirl, black forest, pumpkin and Oreo. Holy Moly. They are exactly as I remember them. Ridiculously fresh and creamy. If you're a Junior's Cheesecake fan, I beg you to try Cascon - you may switch teams and fall for them. In addition to the minis, you can get assorted cheesecake flavors in larger sizes, cakes, pastries, assorted mousse, and of course bakery butter cookies. And they're so nice here! LOVE this place. This place does not warrant 4.5 stars for many reasons. The first reason, they are in the same general area as La Cheesecake, king of the cheesecake. The second reason, when you go in there, you don't get the feeling that their cakes are fresh. La cheesecake serves their cakes warm and give them to you right out of the pan, so you know they haven't been sitting around long because they're still cooling. In Cascon, they take the cakes out of their fridge, which doesn't make me feel good and to top it all off, the quality just isn't there and definitely doesn't match their "through-the-roof" pricing. Been coming here for years, however the rudeness of their owners on the phone is horrendous. I called on the 22nd of December if I could order cupcakes for the 24 the response was and I quote,"NOPE not taking any orders" and then i was hung up on. Seriously you hang up on a customer? A disappointment on many levels. I have, over the years, heard rave reviews of Cascon's but having always been loyal to Stork's Bakery (which is now closed), had never ventured those few blocks further to try out Cascon's. That changed this week. I had the good fortune of winning a gift certificate for a large Cascon's cheesecake at a recent charity event. Using Easter, and a dinner for friends and family as a perfect excuse, I ventured over with my daughter. With a smile on our faces, we looked at the cheesecakes in the display case, and tried to pick from the many options. Saw that many of the other items (non-cheese cake) also looked pretty good. Woman behind the counter came over with a smile and asked how she could help. The smile immediately disappeared when she saw the gift certificate. She took it from me, told me to wait, and disappeared into the back. A couple of minutes later, she asked if we wanted anything else (the smile and cheerful attitude gone) and handed me a bag. I asked if we could choose which cake we wanted and she grunted no. So we took our spoils, and left. It was a big cheesecake, I'll give them that. But beyond it's size, it had nothing, really NOTHING going for it. 1) When I took it out of the box, hours later, it was still cold. Ice cold. Wonder how long ago it had been prepared and frozen. This was not a fresh cheesecake. 2) So maybe it's only my experience, but I'd never had a cheesecake without a crust. Boring. 3) it was tasteless. It felt like gelatin in my mouth. No sweet, creamy texture. It wasn't a luxurious, decadent , rich cake. It was pretty close to unappetizing. We cut the cake into thin slices, and not one person at the table finished their slice. Not one. What a disappointing end to a beautiful meal. Will I go back? No. Because of the cheesecake for sure, but also because of the attitude of the woman who served us. Can't imagine how this place has such great ratings, unless the cake they make in exchange for the gift certificates they donate to charitable causes is not the same as the cakes they sell. read more

They sell sugar free cookies and cakes. I have had their sugar free cheesecake, pignoli nut cookies and rainbow cookies. The cheesecake and pignoli nuts cookies are great. Dont taste sugar free. Makes me wonder if it is true. It probably is. Just doesn't taste like it is sugar free. The rainbow cookie is okay. Not the same as the real one. I bought a sugar free cannoli cake for a friend....I'll have to steal a slice from her! And I'll let you know!...update....I had the cannoli cake...dry and tasteless. I had the pignoli nut cookies a few more times and it was extremely soggy. I dont know if there was a problem with the batch or if that is the way it is supposed to be. I dont like soggy!
