visited portland for a week and came to this spot 3 times. friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and great drinks. i ordered a hot jasmine matcha latte every single time, i absolutely loved the taste and i wish i could go back to drink it again. my friends got different drinks across the menu and liked them all- including the honey lavender latte, masala latte, and malted maple. only thing is that the honey lavender latte is a bit light on the lavender flavor, but they'll give you more if you ask. we also had their cinnamon knot, pumpkin scone(?), and cinnamon bun. all great pastries but they would taste so much better warmed. hope to return in the future :') read more

So good! Their Jasmine matcha latte with oat milk is absolutely delicious! It has the perfect balance of jasmine flavor, and it's pure heaven. Recently, I tried their chai since it's housemade, and it was amazing! A lot of places make their chai watery, but this one was perfectly rich and flavorful. The interior is cute, with plenty of spots to sit. You've got to try these two drinks--sooo good! read more

This is a super cute spot to run in and get some java and a quick bite. While I was around, there was a steady line, but it always moved quickly. I was able to ask the barista some questions and he was fast to offer his opinion and some recommendations on the options that were still available. It's been noted, but there definitely isn't much room to hang out and work - so if you're looking for a coffee shop to hang for a few hours, this might not be your spot. It's also very loud, so if you're planning on having solid conversation, it may prove to be difficult. The cinnamon roll that I had was amazing, perfectly soft, full of flavor and well worth the price. It was the recommendation from the barista and I was definitely happy with the choice. I didn't think the beverages were anything super special, but they were definitely good - no complaints. read more

When you think of a quintessential coffee shop, think Case Study! Warm and welcoming with plenty of natural light and dark wood that compliment the rich smell of coffee, Case Study was exactly what we were looking for for a little afternoon pick-me-up after a day exploring Portland! I loved that they made their own sauces and syrups and had them sitting in a sous vide bath to keep them at the optimal temperature to add to both hot or iced coffee, it truly made all the difference in flavor and prevented a sludge of sauce at the bottom of your cup after finishing your coffee. read more

The ambiance here is gorgeous. The cafe is extremely spacious, and I love how the tables surround the center island which is where the register and coffee machines are. The employee that rung us up and made our coffee was very friendly and helpful. Their coffee is amazing. The notes in their Deviance Blend are slightly acidic, mild and heavenly. We ended up buying two bags of coffee from them on top of the drinks we got! Although we only stayed a short while to enjoy our drinks, it seems like a great place to work or study. read more

Case Study Coffee is a cozy corner shop. The barista recommended the bourbon caramel latte. I couldn't stop eyeing the pastry case. The team member highly recommended the pistachio croissant. The staff are usually very friendly in the mornings, even if it's right after opening. The place has a few tables but feels mostly like the are more setup for take out. The overall feel is calm at 7am with a low key quiet vibe. The drip coffee is good when it's hot, but as it cools it takes on a more bitter taste. The lattes are good at all temperatures and they have flavors if you are a flavored latte person. read more

If you're staying downtown this is a super convenient coffee shop. There are only pastries so don't make this your breakfast spot. It's a cute vibe inside with super friendly service but the coffee selection is pretty regular. I sat in the back corner and there was a strange faint spell almost of urine. It can get pretty loud between the music and the calling out orders so if you're looking for a study/work spot, this probably isn't your best option read more

I really wanted to try a good coffee in Portland, but I was still recovering from food poisoning the week before so was trying to cut back a bit. Case Study was our favorite during our trip. It was right up the street from our hotel and was conveniently located right off of a rail line stop. Both the customer service and the coffee were great. I liked it so much that a bought a couple bags to bring home with me. What was most impressive was their attentiveness to my wife's nut allergy. We told them about it and they went above and beyond to avoid cross contamination. They noted it on both our cups, advised every employee working the station, and used freshly cleaned steamers for our drinks. My only regret is I didn't buy more of their coffee to bring home. I'm definitely going to order more online and will definitely come back if I'm ever in Portland again. read more

I wouldn't consider myself a coffee aficionado, however, this is some of the best coffee I've had! I would normally get a white chocolate mocha, however, they did not have white chocolate as a flavor so I got vanilla instead. Let me tell you, this is the best coffee I've ever had, it has a hint of Marion Barry in the roast, which reminds me of a Peruvian roast I've had in the past, but this is Much Better! I mentioned I was used to Starbucks or equivalent as I am from the Seattle area, so they served it up well. Great atmosphere when you walk in, very classy/cordial as well as the greeting upon entry. My favorite coffee shop in Portland. Definitely the place to go if you're a coffee aficionado. The menu is simple which speaks to their goal of focusing on high quality espresso and drip coffee. Usually, they have a couple roasts to choose from and I love their naturally processed beans. Chili atmosphere, the baristas are always nice, good hang out spot. If you're looking for a venti double shaken triple chocolate caramel cream oatmeal lavender latte with 2 extra shots, whip cream and extra caramel drizzle then this is not the place for you. Stopped by around 3pm for a late pick me up. The interior looks more like a pub than a coffeehouse since there's a giant bar area. There wasn't a line but there were quite a few people enjoying coffee. Ordered a salted caramel latte and a latte. I really liked the salted caramel latte. The frothed milk was very creamy and thick and it had a slight salted caramel flavor - for some reason it reminded me of crème brûlée. What does one need after consuming a filling breakfast and a gigantic chai latte? Another gigantic cuppa, of course! We were on our way from brunch to - well, we didn't really know where...just *somewhere* worth exploring in Portland - when we figured we could pop in to Case Study for a cup of something warm while we came up with a game plan for the day The space is very open and bright, with lots of tables and places to spread out. There was one guy working the counter when we stopped in. He was friendly and helpful, if a bit quiet. That's fine - I don't need fake chatty, you know? He brewed up our drinks with a quickness. I got a hazelnut latte with almond milk, and my husband got a chai latte. We took our concoctions back to a small table by the window to relax and review our exploration options. The drinks were expertly crafted and flavorful. He used just the right amount of hazelnut syrup in mine, which made a balanced drink that wasn't too sweet. In hindsight, I *really* wish we'd taken a moment to make use of their facilities before heading out for the day...we were packing a lot of liquid at that point! read more

We may have been the first customers this morning. It was empty when we arrived but just as we placed our order, there was a huge line up behind us! Very impressive coffee shop. Great coffee and excellent bagels! Love the cosy ambience; lots of green plants, soft lights and wooden decors. Only one staff member but he did such an excellent job serving all his customers. A case study on coffee! I was in need of caffeine for an extra boost of energy and to warm up so stopped by this coffee place conveniently located by a transit line. I ordered a classic cappuccino ($4.50) but their flavored lattes looked great- I just didn't want to add on flavor for an additional $1.50 to their base latte prices but thought that was a cool option to customize. Case Study is a big space with a light academia aesthetic (to me!) perfect for studying with its plentiful seating and tables or people watching while enjoying coffee thanks to their large windows. My cappuccino was exactly what I needed to get moving along with the day. Nothing particularly noteworthy but I would definitely come back for the vibes. A bit pricey but that is to be expected for a shop downtown. The quality and atmosphere of the shop makes up for the price. Located next to the public library, Case Study has an old school cozy atmosphere. There were several choices of pastries and drinks at the counter that's in the middle of the cafe. Our Americano and Cortado were great, but the pastries had us wanting more. It could help if they offered to warm them up. There was constantly a line so it felt more like they were moving people through. We sat and enjoyed the coffee which is the only thing I'd come back for in the future! read more

This place is so cute! I've been wanting to visit, and the inside is perfect for working or studying. The outside shaded enough by the surrounding trees, to keep cool. They have a large selection of drinks and good. I got the orange blossom latte. It was delicious, and the milk and ice did not water down the flavor. I like coming to this place every now and then because it has an old vibe to it, which is vintage and the atmosphere inside is relaxing and a good place to just as the title says study, and have a drink or a nice snack. I haven't been here in years now and I'm glad this place is still the same. It hasn't changed maybe a little bit of the decor has but other than that it's a classic place that I love coming to and the espressos are delicious especially on a cold winter day. read more

So I went with the buttered and sweetened condensed milk toast instead, and I'm so glad I did. The toast was crispy on the outside, buttery, warm, and finished with that sweet condensed milk flavor. Every bite practically melted in my mouth. The pandan toast is definitely on my list for next time! My Portland experience was made even better by my stop at Kaleido Coffee. We stopped in here after playing a round at the Wonderwood Mini Golf. It had been hot and cramped and we really needed a drink. The door was being held open by a line of people and usually that is a great sign. Being busy is awesome for the business and I am glad they are so popular. It was a weekday, probably around 11 am and there were just so many people in line. It was really cute inside but SO chaotic. There were tons of kids screaming and at times it was difficult to tell where the line really was. After about 5 minutes of the line not moving, I started to get a slight headache from the noise and we agreed we would have to go somewhere else. It was probably for the best as all the indoor and outdoor seating was full so there would have been nowhere for us to eat even if we had braved the line. I think when a business reaches this level of popularity, it's important to put systems in place to keep patrons from feeling crowded and overwhelmed and it's definitely something they might want to look into in the future.

Great coffee. The staff is pretty awesome too! :) I come to this place quite regularly as it is very close to a client I meet on the weekly basis. Given the age we live on, they could use a better WiFi, hence the 4 stars review. It is just a bit slow, but works. I really like the vibe here. One of the best coffee shops that I've been to. The barista and staff are friendly, helpful, and highly skilled. The drinks are fantastic and there is a traditional menu as well as well-seasoned developed seasonal menu. The food options are delicious. The space is beautiful and tidy.
