When you are touring Strasbourg, this is a must. Eating in historical railcar just adds to the trip. The food was good and filling. When we arrived and seated, we discovered the AC was leaking (it was 95 and hot out). We were promptly reseated. Our waitress was very nice and food arrived in a timely manner even though they were busy. Only bad thing was our waitress took a break and the other waitress seemed annoyed when I asked for more coffee. Make sure you stroll the gift shop. Many cool train stuff. Went to dinner with my mom and we were very patient and compassionate because upon entering, there was a sign that said that they were understaffed and requested patrons to please be patient to the staff who did show up to work. Claribeth was our server and she was polite and accommodating. We ordered the corn fritter appetizer- which came out as the same time as our dinner .. NBD. I had chicken tenders, nothing special - but edible - which is more than I can say for the fish and chips that mom ordered. The fish was not flaky, it was mushy and inedible. We sent it back and quickly received a plate of hot chicken tenders. There was nothing memorable (in a good way) about the meal. Absolutely horrific experience. Came here with a hospitality book and presented it at our seating that offered buy one adult entree receive one adult entre of equal value or less free. Ordered $15 fish and chips, a $20 burger, 2 kids meals, and sides. We waited over an hour watching zero food coming out to tables with our empty drinks and no refills offered and multiple tables asking for bills for their drinks to leave (which at an hour and 15 minutes we were prepared to do as well until the food finally arrived). All the food was room temperature. When given the bill we were informed that only the fish and chips counts as an adult entree not the burger so there was no discount. I asked to speak with the manager and received another waitress who said they deal with these books a lot and that is the owner's rule. I then asked again to speak with a manager. The first waitress returned and said she could offer me a free soda. I handed her cash for the entire bill plus tax and 10% tip minus the $15 dollar fish and chips and told her I suppose it wasn't important enough for a manager to speak with me and left. I then had all of the on duty wait staff follow me out to the parking lot screaming at me that I'm a cheat and thief and they began taking photos of me and my vehicle threatening to call police. I told them I paid what they were owed and to call the police and I will wait. The owner arrived at my car and began recording me without consent (I asked if she was and she said it's her policy to record every one of these interactions, but I did not consent) and very condescendingly attempted to explain why a burger was not an adult entree and it's her business to make the rules. She "feigned" had zero idea why I was upset and when I said, "are you sh*ting me" actually clutched her chest and said she needed to get her husband here now because she can't be talked to with the "S" word. She attempted to give me all of my money back at this point which I refused. As I was making my way to my car her husband was now standing behind my vehicle blocking my path. I had to ask him several times if I was free to go which he finally replied I wasn't under arrest, and he moved out of my way. As i drove out of the parking lot she was still recording me and waved and said "have a really fun night". read more

I had a veggie wrap that in my opinion should have been a healthy choice but it was literally dripping grease as I was eating it. My wife and I have been here three times. Each time the food and service have been very good. Most recently we stopped in with our 3 year old and one year old grandchildren. Everything went well. They are kid friendly, and helpful. My wife and I both had burgers. A rather standard menu item I realize, but they did an excellent job cooking what was clearly quality meat. The fries were also quite good, and well above average. In short the food AND the service was very good. We enjoy the "almost next door" PA Train Museum. So we will be back. read more

Nothing negative to say! My husband and I enjoyed our meals at Casey Jones' Restaurant. We were in Lancaster County for a week and stopped in twice for lunch. Food was very good, prices on point, service excellent. The restaurant was clean and the servers were very friendly. We highly recommend the soup/salad/sandwich combo, especially the broccoli-cheddar soup. It was perfect for the frigid day when we stopped by. My 3 year old son loved that he was eating in a train car and that it is attached to a store full of trains. Cute place. Food was fine. This place is not cheap. The good news is there are plenty of cheap places all throughout this area. We could really I afford to eat here one night. We ordered two orders of the meat loaf. A bit pricey after tax and a small gratuity for take out it ran us about 50 dollars. I got the impression this restaurant wants to exude a finer atmosphere and not a greasy spoon so you pay for the quality of both the service and the food. I would highly recommend the meat loaf dinner. On the down side it did not come with bread. And as the consumer you have many opportunities to eat elsewhere. read more

Great for kids food was subpar at best. The kids Mac and cheese was no lie, the blue box of kraft mac and cheese. The chicken cheese steak was not a cheese steak it was a chicken tender sandwich so that was disappointing, and the chicken tasted like the frozen precooked Purdue chicken. Their pulled pork was decent and the portion was generous. But they were out of a number of items. Like your meal was supposed to come with waffle fries...which it didn't I mean fine you got regular fries but the server didn't even tell us they were out. We overhead another table ask about it and then they said they were out. The atmosphere is nice, very kitschy, lots of trains and kids will definitely love it. Plus you get to see the trains and lots of horse and buggy pass by outside so kids would definitely enjoy it. We were there on a Day Out with Thomas day and did not have a long wait, it was close to the train station and was open on Sunday which was hard to find in the area. The burgers were absolutely terrible. I can't explain it other than the meat was awful. The shepherds pie tasted as if it came out of a frozen box and heated up. The chicken strips were fast food grade. The side salad (at 5 dollars a plate) was lettuce, tomato, and three croutons. It was a little over 90 dollars to feed three adults. The service was great. This place is darling! The concept is so unique and this could be a "must see" part of the Strasburg Experience! If you have little people with you, they will be delighted with the trains, the petting zoo and the possibility of sleeping on a real train car! Some adults I know would be equally enthralled! The food was pretty good and the portions are plenty. the seating is a little tight but remember you are in a train car! We had the Pot Roast and the Fish and Chips and both were well prepared, great French fries, and to me this is a indication of the food quality. Outside dining is more open and a recent addition to the complex. Fall is going to be a extra special time to enjoy CASEY JONES! My only suggestion is the waitstaff we had was poorly prepared to inform us of menu selections. She made several errors in food contents and she rushed us to order as soon as we sat down? I know finding staff is in crisis mode but keeping good staff should be one of the top priorities! When I attempted to offer her suggestions as to how she could better serve her customers, she got highly offended? We were looking up different places to have dinner and this place looked intriguing. We decided to stop by and we were glad we did. There was quite a line waiting to be seated but the woman who was handling everything did an exceptional job of getting us all seated in a timely manner. After being seated we were then waited on by the same woman. I believe her name was Debbie (she was the one running the whole restaurant on Monday night, 4/11/22). For those not familiar with the restaurant, there are 2 train cars with a gift shop in the middle. This woman was running back and forth waiting on everyone. I only ever saw one other employee and they never stepped foot in our train car the entire time we were there. Debbie did an exceptional job of making sure that all of our needs, and the needs of the other patrons were taken care of. She was going non-stop and she was doing such an outstanding job. She never made us feel rushed. She was one of the best servers that I have ever seen. Then there was the food. I got a burger with pulled pork and a sunny side egg on top. Oh my goodness, that was one of the best burgers that I have ever had. We got 2 different kids meals, a plain spaghetti and a slider. Both of the kids thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We then decided to finish our meals off with a slice of chocolate thunder cake. That was one of the most delicious pieces of chocolate cake that I have ever had. My husband and I got breakfast this morning and we were pretty disappointed... the food was just ok. To start off, once we sat down we waited about 10 mins until we we're greeted by our server, my husband and I both ordered a cup of coffee, another 10 mins or so for 2 cups of coffee. Horrible tasting coffee at that. I've had better coffee at gas stations on the side of the highway. I had pumpkin pancakes with a side of homefries and bacon, everything was bland and room temp. Bacon had zero flavor and rubbery. My husband ordered "whipped cream cheese stuffed French toast".. he received 2 slices of French toast with literally a cold slice of cream cheese on top. Gross. We also paid the extra $2.50 each for the "pure maple syrup" and received a one ounce jar of mediocre tasting maple syrup, which was a waste of money. Our service was extremely slow as well, there were only about 12 tables with 5 or 6 servers. The only enjoyable part our breakfast was the restaurant itself, I mean how often do you get to eat in a train car with a beautiful view of the country side?! I'm going to give this place 3 stars mostly due to the fact that it has potential. The food at Casey Jones is somewhat decent. On our visit we had two different burgers and fries. The Burgers are fairly large and the fries were good old fashion waffle fries. Where Casey Jones really lacks is in service as others have stated. One wait staff women appears to hate her job and has no problem displaying this. The waitress that we had was possibly the most forgetful waitress I've ever had who forgot at least 4 different things in the span of a 25 minute dining experience. Ambience is great! Our food took quite awhile to come out, two tables were seated after us and served before us. I got the soup, salad and small sandwich platter, the bottom of the roll was soggy and the soup was served in a dirty bowl. Husband stated wings were mediocre but the fries were delicious. My son said the burger was okay. The server was quite slow , however once they saw our plates were almost untouched, she became very attentive. Spoke to a local who said the lack of staff has a lot to do with it and she had to send a grilled cheese sandwich back because it was over cooked. Wish we had spoken to her first! read more

The lonely waitress serving the entire left side of the place keeps on ignoring us for good 15 minutes, until there are 4 parties behind us and she decides to finally step in and sit us. Ordered the basics, thinking, no way they can screw this up-burgers for hubby and me, chicken sandwich for older son, pasta with meatballs for the younger son. Asked for the burgers to be medium, both came very well done, and burned outside. Should have sent them back to be honest. The meatballs were inedible, there were some weird textured pieces in them. Our server Perla was very pleasant, responsive and professional. I would recommend her to any establishment. The preparation of the food however was poor. The meatloaf was very hot but the potatoes and green beans were cold. Our rolls were piping hot but rubbery like they had been in the microwave too long. When I asked to send the platter back Perla offered to warm the beans and potatoes. I refused to have the platter reheated. The platter's base cost was $21 I know inflation is high but the chef could heat the potatoes and beans is the point. The kitchen The manager came over and said that they would have been willing to heat the potatoes up and she put her fingers in the potatoes and they weren't cold. So now I get an argument as well. I did my best not to engage and just asked to have the meal taken off the bill. Bottom line I don't mind spending the money, I just want my meal right the first time without an argument. If you're tourists you're probably trapped. If you're a local like me stay away. There are way too many other places that we can go and get a better value for the same money. read more

Actually had really low expectations for this place. We went mostly for my nephew who loves trains. Surprised to find that the food was solid and service very friendly. Not overpriced which is something you'd expect in a restaurant that's kind of gimmicky. I got the fried chicken, which was a special, and it was some legitimately tasty fried chicken. Had a few bites of the Monte Cristo sandwich as well which I can totally vouch for.
