Great food, service and ambiance. I would go back. It's part of a Sports Complex so was pleasantly surprised.

Friday lunch hour

Average experience. Friday for lunch, not crowded only about 3 other tables. I like the decor/style and openness of the layout. Our waiter was nice. We had to ask about the soup of the day - it would be nice if they told you this as soon as you are seated. Service was slow, it took a long time for them to make two salads. And on top of that they forgot my chicken on the salad. Prices are high. Small menu but enough to find something you would like. Interested recipes, not your every day selections. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. It's nice for business meetings during the week.

Chicken Wings (Buffalo Sauce & House Herb Infused Hot Sauce) - Oooooo, so delicious!!

EXCELLENTE!! Great last minute meal decision! Beautiful restaurant and bar area! Great decor! Superior customer service provided by table staff. Sadly I forgot his name (young, thin, caucasian, handsome guy). Food returned from kitchen very quickly!! We ordered the Chicken Wings (Buffalo Sauce & House Herb Infused Hot Sauce), Seasonal Vegetables (Asparagus), Side Salad and Fork Burger w Bacon. Everything and I mean everything was absolutely delicious!!! I look forward to returning back to this establishment for this yummy experience again !!

Perhaps it depends on what time of the day you visit Forklift and Palate (considering some of the less than stellar reviews here), but my cousin recommended we visit for lunch during my last visit down to area. Apparently, she eats here somewhat frequently and has had generally good experiences. As for my own experience at Forklift and Palate, I certainly enjoyed it enough to come back and at least try it again. The restaurant wasn't very crowded during the time we went for lunch (probably around 1pm-ish?), and our server was pretty attentive during our entire time there. My cousin and I ordered a couple of smaller dishes to split between us, including the Bavarian Pretzels, pierogies, ravioli, and one or two other dishes (can you tell we skipped breakfast that morning?). Coffees too, of course. The food was generally tasty, though the pierogies could have been hotter at the time they were served...my inner pierogi-snob (thanks, babcia!) has me assuming they just came out of a bag of frozen pierogies. Hmm... I mean, either way? I like the ambience of the place and don't really have any real complaints. Not stellar, but certainly an enjoyable visit. I'd certainly go back and try it again for dinner or something. Also, they have fried pickle chips on the menu, which I didn't get to try last time... and I'm convinced you can tell a lot about the quality of a place by the crispiness and overall quality of their fried pickle chips. Next time! :)

Sooooo, this place is empty. It seems there's a line to be seated (no hostess anywhere to be found). When she shows up, says there's a wait for a table because they're holding out for large parties. But then she said if we want to sit, sit at the bar? Guys..... this place is empty. This photo was taken after were done eating. Meanwhile, the bar was packed full of dining patrons. Food-wise, my salad was great, but the chicken on it tasted several days' old. The buffalo chicken dip was good. My husband loved his burger and the prices were reasonable. So funny about the seating!

How often do you get to say that you stayed and ate in a massive repurposed warehouse? There's some good conversation material so let's talk Forklift and Palate. The Chicken Sandwich was tender and juicy. The sweet jalapeños give the sandwich a variety of flavor with each bite. The fries were nice and crisp, though they were a bit over salted. The taste was there so I still polished them off. My fellow diners got the Cheese Steak Egg Rolls and a Pierogi dish on special. Both looked interesting but I was glad I'd gone with the sandwich. You'll likely notice how the Nook repurposed just about everything from the old warehouse for the restaurant. Kudos on that. The name and materials give the restaurant a fun vibe. Meeting the head chef, you can also tell how much he cares and enjoys what he does. He has a strong culinary background and you'll see that come through in the foods he creates for the Nook's special events.

We had visited on Monday and it was actually pretty dead, with only a few other tables, great time to try this place out! When it came to service, it was excellent! The waitress was friendly and very attentive, checking in a good amount throughout the visit. The food? It was done very quickly! We had gotten the shrimp and calamari appetizer which came freshly from the fryer, and was good and crispy. We had also gotten the turkey sandwich along with pulled pork sandwich which both came with fries. Both of these sandwiches were juicy and not dried out like some places. While I would not say there was anything special to make the food stand out, it was good, and we left full and happy with our selection.

What I didn't foresee was that the ramp didn't lead directly to the restaurant. We went from the ramp into something like a storage closet. The turn from the ramp to the room was so tight that I basically had to do a three point turn to get her through the door. Then we had to get through a glass door, walk down a hall and THEN through to door to the restaurant. I seriously needed a rest after that trek. If my mom had been using her walker, she would not have made it into the restaurant. Once through the door though, we were cheerily greeted and seated. We had our drinks within a few minutes and a few minutes after that, we were ready to order. My mom ordered the fish sandwich and I got the Miss Calee burger. That was two mistakes in a row. The fish was overdone and a little hard. It was supposed to come with tartar sauce but it didn't. I would have asked for some but my mom didn't tell me until later. I don't think she ate half of her sandwich. My burger was definitely not much better. The patty was dried out and a hard. The dressing almost non existing - I did ask for more which helped a little but couldn't save the sandwich. I'm grew up in Pittsburgh and have lived in Alabama for 25 years. I am no stranger to slaw on my sandwiches. This slaw just didn't cut it - not even close. We both upgraded and had fries instead of chips. The fries saved the meal from being a complete disaster. I think the most telling sign about the food is that we left over half our meal and didn't bring the leftovers home for my dad. He will eat ANYTHING but in this case, it wasn't worth wasting a to-go box. Back to the handicapped accessibility - I took my mom to the restroom. It was barely large enough to get in chair in and there was absolutely no way possible to maneuver it in there. I keep calling her chair a "wheel" chair - it is actually a transport chair. It's much smaller than a traditional wheelchair. A regular wheelchair would have had problems getting around. Two positives, the prices were quite reasonable and I don't think there was a single employee without a smile. I wouldn't mind coming back one morning to try breakfast but I definitely won't be bringing mom.

We were greeted upon entering, the lady at the counter was informative and nice, our service was quick, with the waitress stopping by several times, to check in on us. No complaints there. Portion sizes were hefty and not just for our meal of pancakes, meat and potatoes. I did a quick scan to see what other patrons had ordered and noticed large portions, as well. The food was tasty, cooked well and arrived to our table, super quick. Now to the negatives: spacing between tables, chairs, customer order counter, cramped. Do I want someone's butt in my face as I eat? Let me answer that one for you; No. Secondly, If you don't have the mechanics to make a decent latte, don't attempt it. Simply stick with a good cup of hot coffee. Pancakes were not fluffy, but flat, a tad chewy, but the flavor was good, nonetheless and I enjoyed the homemade whipped topping, albeit a bit too sweet. Homefries, tasted of the frozen variety and extremely mealy and the bacon, grocery store quality. The reason why I pick on your bacon and homefries, was because you tout yourself as a breakfast/lunch cafe and with that said, I'm anticipating elevated breakfast components, especially being surrounded by so many wonderful butchers.
