I've seen alot of really great reviews for this place. So my husband and I decided to try it out. The exterior and interior of the building are really terrible. The decor is not not very good complete with tacky nick knacks and folding tables and chairs. We decided to try it out despite the appearance. You can't judge a book by it's cover right? The buffet was very small and I had a hard time finding food that I wanted to try. I am not really sure why they call this place BBQ because there was nothing barbecue on the menu. I was hoping to try some BBQ. My first plate was mac and cheese, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and biscuit. All of the food was very plain and just all around not very good. I tried a second plate of chicken wings (they only had thighs), rice, and stew. The food was terrible and I didn't finish it. The only reason I gave this place two stars is because they had good service. My waitress was very good. They even gave first timers like us a small tour. One thing I did not like was that we were not given a bill just a ticket with what we had. So we were not sure how much everything was until we actually paid. Overall, I would not recommend anyone coming here. The food was just too terrible. read more

I was so shocked at the appearance of the staff and of the restaurant.. All the food was average or below.. Chittlins were vinegared down. Greens were watered down and bland. Mac and cheese dry. I am conflicted about this place. The food was good but not great. The fish was really good, as was the chicken, but everything else was just usual, and the desserts (mostly cobblers) were overcooked and nasty. Plus the place is a bit of a dump. They have all this space, but chose to cram the buffet in one small corner of the restaurant. Plus I noticed a lot of serving utensil handles ending up in the food pans, not exactly sanitary. The line for the buffet gets really long as they fill up the many tables, and I basically gave up on getting more food because I didn't want to wait in line again. I know this place is some kind of Wilmington institution, but to be honest you can get better food, with more choices, in a cleaner environment, and for less money at Golden Corral. read more

Southern food is by far one of my favorite foods. In fact, anything southern mixed anything else makes my mouth water. It really is down home cooking food. When I walked through the front door, I received southern hospitality at its finest. Super nice and friendly staff....totally warms the heart. Now...the two reasons why I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 was because it tasted just like home cooking food. Now, I know you are scratching your heads on that one...but basically when I go out to eat, I want the food to taste BETTER than home cooking food. There wasn't a meal here that I couldn't replicate myself, and frankly, I believe there is always room for improvement. haha. Ok, the second reason is because they had no cornbread at the buffet. A great family-friendly place filled with workers who are great people first, and great servers second. The food was great and they took care of our party of 15 with no stress and treated our family like their own. We were just visiting the area but would come back hands down, no questions asked. Our server Felipe was one of the best servers and took the time to talk to everyone at the table. If I could leave a "0" star I would. I have absolutely no idea how this place has as high a rating as it does. It is DISGUSTINGLY DIRTY in here. I was afraid to eat anything here. The floors were gross and slippery, and our "table" was a dirty white folding table. What?!? The drinks came out of Gatorade type jugs on a shelf in the corner. I have never been more sceeved in my life in a "restaurant" Not sure where the pics posted here are even from inside the restaurant, but def not where we sat! Casey's really isn't what it used to be. The food just isn't the same anymore they don't put enough love in they food you would think with as much business as they get they would have expanded the small restaurant by now. But I'll still come here any day for the sweet tea and bomb chicken salad. I would love to see this place get back to what it was i used to love this spot foreallllllll. read more

While visiting family in Wilmington we ate at Casey's. Our party of 6 was sat immediately. The staff was friendly. Food is southern BBQ and soul food. Tons of options of meats, veggies, and desserts. Our waitress overheard the kids talking about wanting some shrimp. She offered to have the kitchen make our table a plate of fried shrimp. Five minutes later we had a large plate of fried shrimp on our table. I was really impressed. We beat the dinner rush, but about 25 minutes into our meal the dinner rush hit. I called and asked what they had on their buffet & the person answered "you'll leave hurt" she was right we were all so stuffed from all the amazingly well seasoned food. Fried chicken, BBQ, stuffed crab, shrimp, and the SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE--oh my! This place is ALWAYS busy and a bit of a cluster to sit in but it's like a big family reunion in there. Our waiter was nice and attentive but as my fiancé and I we're starting to get a plate, one of the waitresses sneezed over the buffet of food. She was literally just hanging out, not even working and most of them were on their phones which is where tons of germs exist. For $12.99, you can navigate Casey's all-you-can-eat buffet. The best description is that your last in line at the neighborhood pot luck. They offer many dishes, from fried chicken, collards, and beans, to fried catfish bites, hushpuppies, and okra. They also have multiple dessert offering. Sadly, none of it was very good for my visit, but it's crowded and lively. We Americans love our endless buffets! Two stars for below average food and a questionable cleanliness rating. read more

The buffet here is a local secret, talk about well cooked soul food - they got a kitchen full of grandmas in the back cooking. Mac & cheese, fried oysters, fried chicken, smothered ribs, baked chicken, chitterlings, green beans, cabbage, jerk chicken, fried okra, fried clams, I could go on but there's a secret table service menu also.... fried pork chops to order!! First off, this is not a fine dinning restaurant. It's a down home, southern, greasy, buttery, salty, everything that has cardiac arrest written all over it. However, its awesome food and it's a whopping $8.99 for lunch. You cant beat this with a stick. Most everything there was great. I tried all I could even chitlins. We enjoyed the food as well as the great service. If someone gave this place a bad review, consider the source. I am done. I came here about 28 years ago and this place was awesome. Came back about 10 years ago and still awesome. Went 6/20 and I will never come back. Place was disgusting, don't think they changed the carpet since I started going, place could use a renovation. But ok no big deal. We proceeded to attack the buffet and Casey's has about 30 or 40 items on the buffet but I decided to get small portions so I could try and eat as many as I could. Well after the first trip it came to pass the there was only two items that I would eat. Ok got a lot of items to go but odds are not going well at this point. So I went to the restroom to wash my hands before I start my second plate but after I went in I think that someone had a pee fight in the men's bathroom. Pee covered the floor, mind you I have sandals on. Why do I have sandals on? My family and I was on vacation At Carolina Beach. So came out of the bathroom wiped my sandals on the carpet asked for the Check and told the wife and kids let's go. That's why I'm done. Casey's was so good back in the day and hope they can bounce back one day. But don't think my family and I will ever know. read more

What an awesome recommendation! Yelp definitely has it right for this place. If you're a fan of good southern table fare, this is your place! They have all the classics and their cole slaw is definitely the best I have ever had anywhere. It's a buffet first off and one that is very affordable. Definitely will return! We found this place on Yelp when we swung through Wilmington last week. Wow - this was a cultural experience of southern cooking for my family! Everything was delicious and the employees were so warm and welcoming. I'll remember their pulled pork for a longtime...but I enjoyed everything I ate (including catfish, collards, and pecan pie!) I was saving my trip here for a time I was in the mood for greasy, filling, home-cooked goodness. So I came during finals week, of course! We walked in and were seated in the very back, by the buffet. I was actually surprised that the buffet was smaller than expected, but still kept an open mind. After my first plate I knew why people like this place so much - it was very good!! Some of the best things I got include the mac n cheese, fried chicken, ham n cheese casserole, and BBQ. I usually do not enjoy carolina style BBQ but I actually really liked it here. The only 2 items I did not think were so good was the okra and the chitlins. Okra was a bit soggy and I think chitlins are an acquired taste (I saw people getting spoonfuls of it - eek - not for me!!) All food tasted fresh and not like it was sitting out a while (always a concern for buffets). The price was right (I think it was under $11 for dinner). The service was great - I wish I remembered our waitresses name, but she was very nice and friendly and upbeat. Made me feel at home. This place has everything, seriously. You will eat until you feel sick here. Tons of food available. This place is a hole in the wall. It looks very rustic inside. The buffet is toward the back of the restaurant. It's like heaven when you walk into it. I had tons of food, from fried chicken, to the pulled pork, to fried okra (for the first time ever). There are mashed potatoes, corn, ribs, rice, gravy, mac & cheese, biscuits, and so many other things I can't even remember! Their cobbler is great. Great! I saw two different kinds of cobbler when I ate there. And had both. The waitress was very nice and showed me around the place, as it was my first time there. They thought I was lost... I had an excellent meal here for lunch today with a coworker. I really enjoyed the fried chicken, the dressing, and the green beans. The dessert left a bit to be desired as it lacked quite a bit of flavor. The service was wonderful, however, and my glass never went below half empty. I love it so much!!! The collards are delicious. The chicken is just amazing. The mac and cheese, the sweet potatoes, the fat back, the cobblers, the beans, everything... everything is freakin' delicious! I can't say enough great things about the food, fresh, delicious, made with true southern love. The sweet tea is fabulous too. I drank 3 glasses while I was there. The service is also awesome. Friendly and attentive, she brought us catfish nuggets and fried shrimp in addition to the buffet. What a wonderful place. Casey's is the sort of place where you want to eat until it is painful. They have very good BBQ, and in addition to that they have the best all-you-can-eat buffett in Wilmington. The atmosphere is nothing to speak of - it is like walking into 1972 - but who cares? They really go out of their way to give you a comprehensive menu- for example, what sort of place has both collard greens and turnip greens, and 5 different types of fruit cobbler? Chittlins, rice and gravy, fried chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, green beans, black eyed peas.. the list is a page long of all-you-can-eat goodness. Everyone I know swears by this place. I went because I was meeting my family. The first sign should have been having to park next to the dumpster, next to the overturned couch. The carpet and mats on the floor were slick with grease and the place was filthy. This was when I had a moment of panic and nearly left via the fire door. The food was fine, but just that. Everything came out of a can, which was evident not only from the taste, but the mountains of rusty gallon cans decaying in the corner of the lot. The best part of the evening was e staff.
