Good food, good gin! This is obviously a gin bar, so you'll have lots of options if you're a gin drinker. I'm not, but I still enjoyed a sip of my boyfriend's drink as the bartender knows what she's doing! The reason this isn't 5 stars is because we ordered a French onion soup, Bavarian pretzels (both apps) a salad, and a lobster burger. Weirdly enough, the burger came out a solid 5 minutes before everything else. My boyfriend wasn't a huge fan of the burger (though this is what they're known for) and everything else was good, not great. I would skip the food and go back for drinks. read more

After being closed for 4 years, Casey's Caboose is finally open again! This place is a bit interesting -- it's a train themed restaurant, but specializes in gin. A group of 6 of us came for dinner on a Saturday. They seemed to be light on staff as there was only one host running around calling names/seating tables/taking new names as patrons arrived, so she was quite absent. After getting our names in, we lucked out and were seated quite quickly after being given a 45 minute wait time. Once we were seated, our waiter also seemed to be running around as he was clearing tables bus-boy style and running food out to tables in the section, but he was very polite. They have iPad enabled ordering which was neat and I'm sure convenient so our waiter had one less place to run off to. My boyfriend really enjoyed the house gin and tonic. The pretzel and cheese appetizer was pretty good. I split a traditional macaroni and cheese and spinach salad and they were good. With all the other options on the axis road I'm sure I may not be back for a while, but it's not totally crossed off the list. read more

The food is really good, the service is amazing, the management at the front is is horrible. However - here is a work around for incompetence. 1. When you walk in the door and ask for a table of 10 (no reservation) you will be told "sorry we don't have space or openings". Then share you willingness to separate your party into a few tables, something like (2) 4 tops and (1) 2 top. You will still be told no. Say thank you and walk out. 2. Then have another person in your party go back in a few minutes later and be prepared to push a little harder. "You have open tables right there", separate our party, but I know you can fit us in". Don't accept no as an answer. 3. Boom you're in. read more

We loved Casey's!! For starters, they have an iconic venue, that's just cool. Summer even has the outdoor option to go with the unique indoor booth options, a special kids booth or the up top option. Then we get to the food, we had lobster mac and cheese, lobster risotto with sea scallops, salads, and everything was delicious. Made multiple trips here on our 5 day stay in Killington. Then on our last stop, there was a miscommunication and the order was wrong. Naturally, we didn't discover it until we got back to the condo and had to make a trip back for the entree that had errantly been switched to a similar sounding appetizer; they made it right and didn't charge the additional cost for the entree. So just a remarkable triple play: iconic location, delicious food, and excellent service. Casey's in definitely our Killington go to place! read more

My husband and I hit up this restaurant every time we come up to Killington. The food is great, the service is friendly and they have an amazing gin and tonic menu. On this particular trip, I ordered the spinach salad (half order), and a cup of clam chowder. My husband ordered a burger. My salad was a very generous size and the flavors were rich and delicious. The chowder was probably among the best chowders I've ever had. My husband was also very satisfied with his burger. Overall, another great experience. If you're a gin fan, try one of their gin drinks; you wont be disappointed. read more

I wanted to give this more than one star but our experience was terrible from the very beginning. We had a reservation and waited almost 20 minutes. Then we not only had moldy cheese on the Caesar salad, but I caught them not even changing the whole plate when we complained. I saw it through the kitchen door's window. Last night was a big disappointment. We arrived around 530pm and was able to find 2 seats at the bar where we almost always sit unless we are with other people. The young bartender that's been filling in lacks the outgoing social skills that we've grown accustomed to with previous bartenders which makes sitting at the bar an experience in itself. My partner likes their special gin and tonic which was great. I ordered their special old fashioned. Other bartenders might use 2 Luxardo cherries to muddle with orange slices and an extra one on a pick. I got 1 muddled cherry and had to ask for a whole one on a pick. Everyone at the bar had round coasters but us! I had to grab 2. It's not a big deal but it all has to do with how the bartender greets people. Then came ordering the food. I ordered the salmon with shrimp scampi on top which is delicious. My partner ordered a chicken Caesar salad. I mentioned the fish and chips as an alternative, but he wanted to stay with the salad. The kitchen was running very slow la st night. It took a good 20 minutes to get our entrees. My partner got his salad, and the other dish wasn't the salmon, it was the fish and chips! The bartender turned it away, apparently realizing his error and said my salmon would be out as soon as possible. My partner ate half his salad and was disappointed with the small serving of chicken. It was a split heart of romaine with 1/4 a chicken breast. I thought the presentation was very nice, but the small piece of chicken was disappointing. After another 20 minutes, I finally get my salmon that comes with a baked potato and a vegetable. The potato was cut in half but there were no condiments. I had to ask for butter and sour cream. My partner decides to order a side of mac and cheese which is very good. It took way too long, and we had had enough and wanted to leave. We cashed out just as the mac and cheese was coming through the kitchen door! The bar tender credited the salmon dinner which was a nice gesture but still had the mac and cheese on the bill. My partner says we (or he) won't go back. I'm sad because I like the restaurant. I like throwing quarters at goofy to make the train run, and there is always interesting people to talk to. Maybe next ski season I'll be able to convince him to give it another try, but if we see the same bartender, we'll both go somewhere else. read more

Came here for dinner over Labor Day weekend and had a great time. We had the prime rib (huge with a loaded potato, salad and a delicious popover on the side), fish tacos, Rueben, Connecticut style lobster roll and macaroni and cheese. Portions were generous to say the least on all. No complaints by 3 teens and 3 grownups other than they forgot to bring our soup--luckily we were so full we were glad they didn't. They also specialize in gin and we tried their special caseys g & t with floating cardamom, allspice, lemon zest, and juniper berries--different and interesting. They let us taste three wines they were selling by the bottle and we chose the zin--a great deal at $27 for what looked like was a $15-18 bottle of wine. I've been coming to the Caboose for 3 years but for some reason they could not accept my ID for a beer. I've never been to a less professional restaurant in my life they said they have never seen a New Jersey ID which is strange because I've been here for the last two years. It's such a shame because the old server took my id to the manager he screamed "New Jersey" after 5 minutes they said they cannot accept my ID. On a road trip beer adventure we stopped in Killington for a night. We stayed in a lodge/ B&B within near walking distance to Casey's, and I'm so glad we stopped in. The bartender, Ann, was an absolute delight. She was super welcoming and sweet. Not only did she steer me toward the better of two Pinot Grigio choices but she gave us a tip on a hiking trail for the next day. We are eat at the bar people and spending time chatting with Ann was a perfect end to a long day in the car. The Caboose is super kitschy and country with a lot of railroad themed decoration but hidden within the Vermont country charm there is a surprise gin bar! The Caboose offers a craft gin menu with at least 15 gin choices, 8 ish botanical choices and another 8-10 tonics. I was interested but had no idea what to choose so I ordered the house gin and tonic which had beautiful whole botanicals and a fresh clean finish. It was both super interesting to learn about and super refreshing. The food was good too. We had the chips and veggies with dip as an appetizer. This dish included a white bean dip, guacamole and pico all of which were tasty and well balanced. We finished with a veggie burger and fries with a side salad. The salad was ample and tasty, but the veggie burger needed some work. It was house made, which I like but didn't hold together, even with cheese. There are some great commercially available veggie burgers out there, and lets face it, no restaurant is building a name on a veggie burger, so in my mind I say, go with the commercial brands. If you're in Killington don't miss this place, and definitely try the gin bar. We are from a city obsessed with craft cocktails and no one has a craft gin bar! read more

Left Casey's a few hours ago and couldn't wait to give a review! We sat in the caboose and enjoyed an awesome meal with Jordan as our waiter. From the perfect Moscow mule to the Classic New England lobster roll for my daughter and Connecticut for me, Casey's didn't disappoint. The rolls paired perfectly with the coleslaw and fries (oh yeah, and we ordered onion rings too. Why not!) But just when you thought it couldn't get any better - a dozen chocolate chip cookies straight out of the oven! Be sure to order them when you place your meal order so they'll be ready for you! Stopped by Casey's as I hadn't been there in a decade. We were on a ski trip and were just looking for some beers and light food. Their burger menu was right up our alley. The beer selection was extensive and full of nice craft brews. We got a few apps including the pretzels which were tasty but not amazing. Waiter was friendly and attentive. Three of us had burgers, all of which we're tasty and cooked perfectly. I had the scallop burger which wasn't bad but I'd probably pick something different the next time. The decor is cool and we were seated promptly for a busy night. Pricing isn't too bad for a resort. read more

They deserve maybe 3.6-3.8 Service was a bit slow, but a server had called in sick. Drinks seemed to be a dollar or two more than other restaurants we tried in our time here Burgers are just all right, and really too big. One of our table's big eaters with large appetites said they would prefer a smaller Patty with more flavor. Mac n cheese is enormous. Tasty, but this is enough for two in a single bowl, with bread crumbs. It's a single note, in terms of flavor, and very heavy. Serve about half, with a salad??? Fish and chips were tasty, as was the sauce, but fries were limp and coleslaw was warm. Also not chilly enough--hard cider. The Atmosphere was probably the best in Killington, and the onion rings were great. As were the desserts! Flourless chocolate cake and chocolate cream pie we're amazingly good. Save room! read more

Stopped in for dinner on a week night in November. Not crowded, but enough people that you knew had to be locals, which gave us a good feeling about our choice. Menu is rather extensive, I'd say it had something for everyone, no matter which way you eat. I asked the server his favorite and he listed at least 5 things , some of which were on my list. I picked the Chick.Parmesan Mac n you Cheese! Holy Cheddar, Batman!! It was really really good. Enough served to take leftovers for tomorrow. Spouse had the Burger of the Day and was really impressed by his meal. We'll be back....maybe tomorrow, to try some of our other A-list choices. Server was friendly and efficient. read more

This place is pretty welcoming. It's a cute little place with a nice train theme. It is well decorated and the lighting is comfortable. The seating took some time, but we did have a party of 12. They have a specialty Gin menu, and boldly, I ordered despite my distaste for gin. I was pleasantly surprised. They have great fresh variety in their gins. Our server was very fun and pleasant. He was informative and had a great sense of humor. My burger was pretty good, it was a good size and had great condiments. My partners was a little dry. She had the mushroom so it's understandable. Food 3.5*: nice variety of pub fare, and some higher end dishes which include marrow bones, various steaks, and lobster Mac and cheese. Execution however was somewhat of a problem; our medium rare filet came out more than rare. Chicken wings were flavorful, but over cooked with flabby fatty skin. Mac and cheese was grainy, and the marrow bones was not paired with anything other than some thin overly crisped croutons. Location 5*: festively decorated, right off Killington road, easy to find with lots of parking available Ambience 3.5*: some parts of the restaurant seemed spacious whereas others were super tight. WARNING: if you are bigger than a hobbit then you will knock knees and elbows with your table mates. The tables are either narrow or small. Service 1*: I made 6:30 pm reservations, was warned I needed to confirm my reservations (which I did), and still waited 15 minutes when I arrived on time. Once seated, it took 20 minutes to get drinks, then another 25-30 minutes to get appetizers. After another hour, it took a total of 2 hrs from the time of our reservation to get served our dinner. Took us 10 minutes to eat dinner. The manager was apologetic and gave us a discounted bill, however, it wasn't worth the wait. We were seated in tight quarters away from main dining, and we were probably forgotten. read more

Actually one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in years. A really cool atmosphere with a staff full of personality (who have fun while they work) and in addition to that, they of the top 5 Reuben sandwich I've had in my life. Absolutely great New England white chowder and a Chicken Caesar salad with delicious marinated teriyaki chicken. Duffy was a great server and....DON'T LEAVE WITHOUT THE CHOC. CHIP COOKIES.
