Just stopped in to use the toilet, but it was very clean! And the bartender was so friendly!

Expanding my San Jose map, and glad we stumbled across this place on a Friday night. Very chill and simple place to grab a cocktail or mixed drink with your friends. Inside is definitely darker, bar tenders were very friendly, and a lot of open space to sit, walk around and dance to the dj. However we truly enjoyed the backyard patio vibes. An enclosed area with nice heated fire pits and comfy couches. It was the perfect balance to catch up with friends while sipping the night away. Will gladly come back to visit when starting my night off again.

Came back again and this time I got the Honeypot--wasn't a fan. It was too creamy/sweet for an alcoholic drink but I should have expected that based on the description. Still good service and ambience here is nice so I'll for sure return :)

Ordered the Vieux carre and whiskey world. Vieux carre was well made and not sure of the whiskey world. It was the first time we tried it, but can't taste the whiskey or luxardo and way too tart. If you're going to call something whiskey world than I should taste whiskey. Maybe less lemon and more whiskey and luxardo? It has a decent vibe, bartenders were personable-ish, but the music was way to loud and not quite fitting the vibe. Don't get me wrong, love me a head banger ball, but not during cocktail hour.

The Continental is an awesome bar and lounge for watching sports. Not only do they have a large amount of TV's inside, but the size of these TV's is massive, not to mention the excellent sound and picture quality. Yes, these things make a difference when you're a sports fan. On a Thursday night, there was plenty of seating available inside as well as in the outdoor patio, which has beautiful colorful decor and lighting, and a projector used for special occasion (no TV's outside). Inside there was a combination of bar seats, lounge seating, and picnic style tables and benches. Just a really clean, inviting, spacious atmosphere. It was the perfect spot to witness the Warriors win their 4th NBA championship in 8 years, while enjoying some of the venue's specialty cocktails. The Up Side Down was delicious, the pineapple flavor more sweet than tart, the way I like it. And the whiskey sour was a bit too frothy, possibly overshaken, but no complaints otherwise about the quality. Service was fine, but one noteworthy issue we had is when we ordered the Up Side Down cocktail from their menu, one of the bartenders said he was new and didn't know how to make it. That is so bad, lol. I later went to a different bartender, and he served me the drink, no hesitation, no problem. This place turns into a nightclub setting later at night, complete with a DJ and dancefloor lights. And it wasn't too busy on a Thursday night. Their website states the Changing Same every Thursday features a mix of music including rnb, afrobeat, soul, hip hop, house, and funk. The music was cool, but I didn't really come here to party, so it was good to just enjoy conversation and drinks while listening to old school jams like "I Wonder if I Take You Home" while celebrating an exciting Warrriors victory.

Came on a Friday night, and the place was mostly empty with some scattered small groups in the back patio area and upfront by the main bar. Pretty easy to get into and there was no cover. They did have two DJs, which seem to be a little over the top, considering how small the crowd was. The main type of music they were playing here was House music which, if that's your jam, great. We probably came on a specific night, but they really didn't deviate from the theme at all. We ended up getting bottle service here as we came after dinner and the bottle price was what you would expect for going out downtown. The mixers were not that great, in particular the pineapple juice. However, the server was very attentive. I will say that and made sure our group was well taken care of.might be better on other nights, but I'm not in any rush to come back considering the amount of other spots on the same street that looked a little bit more fun.

This is a fun little bar in downtown San Jose. It is a bit off the beaten path but worth it. Bar tenders are friendly, prices for drinks are decent and it's super cute. I love that they have an outdoor area out back too.

First time here and this spot has nothing but great vibes and amazing locals that hang at this bar. Full bar and good selection of beers on tap. They have an outside patio out back if you're not feeling like being indoors. They have a medium sized dance area where everyone just hangs and dances without judgement. The staff and security is excellent here and it has a welcoming ambiance. If you're ever in town definitely stop by this bar it'll be worth it, for a great night out.

Great drinks!! Can I say the drinks are gourmet? Cause they tasted amazing! The bartenders are welcoming. I came on a Thursday and the vibes were vibing.

Is there a cigar smoking section?

    not that i've seen

    YES

Can I come at 12:01 AM the night of my birthday? I know CA doesn't have a law against this, but I'm assuming bars might have their own policy?

Lol I don't see why not, as you're legal drinking age at that point AND last call is around 1:30am. Have fun and be safe.

Anyway, I met up with some friends here last weekend and we had a reservation at Alter Ego. I guess it's technically 2 places with Still OG. I have to say, I have really fond memories of Original Gravity from back in the day (ah, the days of my youth...) so it's nice that it's still sort of around though.. technically completely different since there's no more craft beer or duck fat fries lol. We hung out at our table for the whole night, like 4 hours. We all ordered cocktails off the menu and later on ordered some stuff off the menu based on the bartender's suggestion. I first ordered a Calabrian Spritz from the menu which hit the spot for me. Personally, I am not a hard alcohol fan but I enjoy wine and fun lil cocktails that are slightly sweet/not super strong lol. So this drink was nice because it wasn't too sweet and had a lot of volume (I like just sipping on stuff in general and it sucks when you order a cocktail that's like 3 sips of liquid and the rest is ice). The next cocktail I ordered was off the menu and called Like This or That (I think). I think it was some sort of passionfruit + vodka mix and very delicious! We also ordered the cold soba noodles and fries. Fries were crinkle cut and nicely crispy, no complaints. Soba noodles were also good, though some component of it was really spicy, I think the cucumbers. Overall I had a good time here and look forward to coming back, though given how little I go out, who knows when that will be haha.

The staff is all smartly dressed; the bartender and bar back were both sweet and funny. We quickly learned that it's actually closer to $40 since you need to buy a $14-17 mocktail/cocktail. I'll be honest, I don't drink that much so I can't tell you if that's expensive but it does feel like a bit of a bait and switch. We ordered truffle fries, koji wings, the classic burger and two prime rib dinners. All of the food arrived at different times so some of it was already cold before we started eating. I know we could start eating whatever comes out first but let's be honest. Dining with friends is a very social event and it's somewhat standard for dishes to arrive together. I also ordered subbed truffle fries, was charged the sub, but ended up getting regular fries Food-wise, the koji wings were pretty good. There was a good amount of seasoning and the breading texture was super crispy. The meat itself was a bit bland. Truffle fries were super crunchy and had a balanced truffle flavor. Burger was fine. I've definitely had and made better burgers before. It was a pretty standard burger. Cooked good. A bit overpriced for how mild of a burger it was though. Prime rib was a huge portion. I only had a couple bites from my friends but it seemed well-seasoned. Some parts were nice and tender but the red parts were very chewy. Overall, main dishes were OK in portion but lackluster in experience. Side portions are on the smaller end considering their price but generally delicious. Considering their extensive alcohol collection, I think this place is definitely known for its vibe and drinks rather than its food. Staff seem super friendly though! Especially the bartenders

This restaurant is open and airy. We were seated pretty quickly. Our waiter was lively and his interaction was not too much was just enough to make our visit pleasant and want to come back again. My friend was the only one to order an alcoholic beverage and we were promised none of their spirits were overly sweet since none of their drinks were sweetened with simple syrup. She ordered a lychee something or another and he was right. It was delicious. Nothing overpowering just everything complimentary. We like to order "family style." We ordered the brussels sprouts, milk bread, endive salad, gnocchi, fried chicken and for dessert an order of beignets. Brussels sprouts were charred the way I like. Milk bread fluffy, buttery and both butters were delicious. The endive salad was a must. Gnocchi was pillowy with a hint of lemon in the ricotta filling and those mushrooms gave a nice touch to that cream sauce. You would think fried chicken breast would translate to dried out but it didn't. It was crispy on the outside and they did it just right to maintain the juicy center. The waiter overheard it was my birthday and brought me an order of bread pudding with ice cream with a candle to sing happy birthday to me before bringing out the beignets we ordered for dessert. Those beignets btw, crispy on the outside and light and airy on the inside and all the sauces it came with paired beautifully with it. Perfection! Thank you for being such gracious hosts and creating such edible master pieces.
