Went to Casino Inn this evening and wasn't too happy with it. The food was good; they have very good burgers. But it was noisy to the point where we couldn't hear each other talk. That wasn't the worst thing about the place, though. The worst part was the server, who said his name was Ty. He was very slow; it took him a long time to even get there to acknowledge that we had come in. It took forever for him to bring the drinks, take our orders, bring the food. He got the orders wrong and had to replace one. We thought he was never going to bring our bill, and when he did, he messed that up too. I paid cash and he said he'd get me change and be right back. Then he proceeded to ring up my friends, who paid with credit cards. He was gone so long getting my change that I was wishing I had paid by credit card too. When he finally brought my change, he gave it to my friend and talked to her like he thought she was me. We don't look anything alike, and I would think he could remember where each of us was sitting. I don't think I'm going back to this restaurant for a while, and if I do go back and see that Ty is the server, I will turn around and leave. Last Saturday a friend and I went to the Casino Inn for dinner. I am sorry to say, I will not be back. We sat at a table that was dirty, the waitress came to the table to give us menus and noticed the food all over the table. She came back with a wet cloth that was filthy. She wiped up the food and left the table drenched with water. I got up to get some napkins to wipe off the water. The napkins were brown with dirt, it was disgusting. I ordered the fish and chips and it came with the fish cold in the middle. Went to the ladies restroom and it too was filthy. The outside patio is filthy also and should be power washed every couple of days. Not sure what has happened to the Casino Inn? It used to be a great hangout for groups of our friends. **Until they clean up the place, or find new cleaners, I will not be back. read more

Fun hidden little spot in Alpine. Plenty of parking. Actually pretty quite for being so close to the freeway. The service was really friendly and prompt. Sarah was our server and she was great. Everything we ordered was exactly what we ordered. She checked in frequently and was nice and friendly. We sat out on the outdoor patio which has a oak tree that over hangs, making it very peaceful. A few TV's hang on the wall for sports viewing pleasure. Unfortunately their is an abundance amount of flys. I'm not sure what the restaurant could do about that, but the most depressing part of our experience, is the food. The food is below average. The burger seemed to have a frozen patty. The Brussels Sprouts may have been the weirdest Brussels Sprouts I have ever had in my life. Wet and soggy with mixed in bell peppers, it was like a stir fry. Has this chef been to any other restaurant and had Brussels Sprouts? Anywhere you go they are crispy, baked or fried and than the toppings are applied. I thought the food prices were rather expensive before I got the food, now after eating it, I have no plans on returning. Such a shame to have a cool unique spot with great service and horrible food. read more

I hadn't been to the CI since the upscale remodel and patio addition so I thought I give it a try and see what buzz was all about.Sorry to say the buzz was about nothing.I'd say it's base popularity is more the product of its geographic location then any actual merits as it's a safe choice for Alpiners that don't want to "Go down the hill,"for a sit down meal.As to be expected when you try and gentrify a simple neighborhood watering hole into a semi-upscale supper club there's issues.The service was spotty and slow.Not that the staff wasn't busting their asses,it's just that there wasn't enough of them.Even the bar patrons were getting fidgety waiting on orders.I'll just say it,the place is cramped and extremely loud.The tables are just too many and too close together to be comfortable.On the night we went they were out of so many menu items I stopped asking for what I wanted and instead was asking "What's left?" bad form.And to be fair the steak I had was adequate,well seasoned and correctly cooked but that's where the kudos begin and end.Half way thru our meal we were told we should hurry up or we'd have to pay to see the Magician.Now,no one on staff bothered to mention they'd be clearing the room for a floor show.Sucks to be us.Honestly I'd rather scarf down what's left of an almost mediocre meal then pay even one cent more to the CI to watch some hack magician that would consider the CI a legitimate booking. It would take more then magic to get me back there,it would take a miracle. Trash! The food is trash. It's an overpriced dive bar. The food is barely above average. The food is garbage. If you want to get drunk then this is your place If you want a decent meal and not into drinking don't come here. The food is just slightly under Denny's with ridiculous prices. The bartender doesn't even know what times are happy hour. Yea the girl on instagrams with the martini. Totally trash and not a foodie spot. The pictures of food on instagram look great but they are not here at least not for me. They must reserve them for the bartenders because I didn't get that quality. Really disappointed. I have got several invites online multiple times and I finally went and I can tell they are not open to different folks from different strokes if you know what I mean. It was edible at best. I really enjoy the new improved casino inn. The food is great and the beer selection is very good. The prices are fair, but the promotional days are great values. Sometimes they seem too busy for the number of staff working, but the staff is usually really friendly and helpful. It can get loud and have a bit of a "locals only" feeling, so it's not a place I'll usually choose for meet ups or to bring the family. I tend to eat late when my work days go long and I've found I have to call ahead to make sure the kitchen is open, it seems a bit random and that has proven inconvenient. read more

All the changes are fantastic. Love the inside and outside areas. We checked it out twice this week. Sunday we went for breakfast. The fried chicken with 2 eggs, sausage gravy n biscuits (we swapped mashed tatos for hashbrowns) was so good we split it and could not eat it all. The Bloody Caesar was really good too I'm just not sure about the cold dog on top maybe summer sausage or pepperoni. Then we went back for Dinner on Wing Wednesday, yep they are delicious. I had the Seared Ahi Salad it was amazing love the sesame seed crust. My Friends had the Strawberry Salad, Mushroom burger and Sliders the all said they were delicious and would get them again. I came on a coworkers recommendation. Had fried chicken with Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. The issue I have is that nothing had seasoning. It was fresh, it was cooked perfectly, but it wasn't seasoned (I guess it was interesting to have potatoes without flavor other than the bacon inside them). The server was nice. Bartender was pleasant. It was clean. This is the place to come grab a beer, but food is not worth ordering and when you do get it, it's not worth the price. Two stars. The above was a 2 star review. I discovered Casino Inn when I got a Facebook invitation to hear Sick String Outlaws play. Prior to the invitation I never heard of them. I am a fan of Outlaw Country Music so I googled them and found them on YouTube. I liked thier music so I called Casino Inn for more info. Samantha was pleasant on the phone. She answered Ally questions and said she was looking forward to meeting me. I went there . Juliana was my server she did a great job. My friend had Mottzoralla Sticks. they were large and had a really good coating. I had Frings. They too were very good. Both our orders were reasonably priced. Especially when you consider the music was free. It's worth mentioning that my Frings stayed hot even after I took pictures. I was never going to come back, but the new owner Sam randomly came in to my restaurant today and she was asked me to come join me at the bar it's my brirth day. At first I was like no I don't like that bar, I had a really bad experience a while back . Once she told me she's the new owner of that bar and that it was nothing like it use to be. Not going to lie I wasn't going to go I was skeptic "I don't know how but I ended up there. However I have nothing but good things to say about the new bar I love it the bartenders they took care of us so did Sam. I often meet my motorcycle riding friends at The Casino Inn in Alpine for breakfast on weekends. The breakfasts here are perfect. Eggs, sausage, and hash browns are all cooked just like they should be, nothing freaky - just like you'd have at home only someone else is doing the cooking. The friendly bartender will give you coffee, bloody mary, or whatever you're into at that hour. Dim and divey - just how I like it. Definately one of my favorite places to have breakfast. I've never been here in the evening so I don't know what the scene is like but if weekend mornings are any indicator I'd say its likely full of happy & friendly East County locals. Nice little bar/restaurant we found driving back from San Diego. We hadn't had lunch yet and had our dog in tow so we needed a dog friendly place to eat. First off, we were seated outside on a nice shaded patio with ample seating and 3 big screen tv's. Our waitress was super nice and friendly and gave us good recommendations along with a bowl of water for our dog. We ended up ordering the Chicken Caesar Salad and burger sliders special with beer battered fries on the lunch menu. Both meals were delicious. To be honest I didn't expect much from this place with a name like Casino Inn (not sure of the origin of the name) and being a "dive bar" but they have good food, good service and a nice clean "modern" restroom as well. Did I mention they were playing some good 80's and 90's tunes on the overhead speakers too? I would give them 5 stars but their prices were a tad steep especially for lunchtime. $40 for a salad, burger w/fries and 2 sodas is a bit much. I could see if I had ordered some beers or something. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon after a long drive through the local mountains. We were greeted by a busy but super friendly bartender, Dani. She got our drinks right away and had a seat. Remington, our waiter and overall nice guy, soon stopped by with menus. The menu was simple and to the point. We had the patty melt, which tasted as it had come from the backyard bbq. We also had a burrata salad, which at first we were leary of, as it is a dive bar, but that turned out phenomenal as well. Been here 10-12 times in past 2 months. Food has always been good but service is spotty. Past 2 times service was completely horrible. 1st time we sat at a table and never got the drinks we ordered finally had to just get up and leave.
