We were here for a friend's birthday and we decided to play some blackjack. Got to a blackjack table and played a couple hands before a player declared that he wanted to be banker. Okay, sounds normal, no one said anything. We simply continued betting as per usual. Apparently, the banker (player) can only pay up to how much they have if they lose. We were NEVER informed about any rules regarding this. The banker had about $200 (also, were we supposed to walk over and check his stash?), and there was 4 players with $400 worth of bets on the table (about $100 each). We ended up winning and only 2 players got paid out, so $200. We didn't get our $200. Huh?!!! We risked $100 each for a 0% chance of winning. Literally threw our money away. The dealer didn't stop us from betting even though they KNEW the banker couldn't cover it. To us, it's not about the money. We understand the risk and reward. However, when it's all RISK and no reward, then it's a scam. What's stopping people from going in there, declaring to be a banker and taking on ALL the bets and losing ONLY $100? As a result, we didn't get to make an informed decision and was blindsided by the "CASINO" or card room. Whatever they want to call themselves. I contacted the gambling commission and was told "you should have read the rules online for card rooms in CA". Uhhh, It clearly says M8TRIX "CASINO". So which is it? In addition, I asked "what's stopping people from putting in a $100 and becoming a banker to takes on $400-500 bets with no repercussion? Sounds like a win-win situation to me. I went to the Sports Bar to watch a sporting event. They have to super giant tv's and many less giants. The food and drinks are typical sports bar grub, albeit a little more expensive than average. My "prime" French dip was $23 including fries. On the other hand, the place is large, very clean, modern, and well decorated. Not a gambler myself, but the bar is there is service the casino, which looks very updated and modern. I came to play Texas Hold'em, it's my first time at this casino, and honestly it has been a very bad experience and poor service from the host, a bald man in a gray suit with no beard. He was seating people who arrived without being on the list, even seating men under women's names. Obviously, they give preference to customers they already know or to those who pay to skip the waiting list. I've been waiting for over two and a half hours, watching, and it's clear they manipulate the list to benefit certain clients. This is for Sunday 12/28 For the sports dining area We were really excited to try Casino Matrix for the first time, but unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing. When we arrived at the sports bar, we were directed to the opposite side of the room to check in. We provided our phone number and were told we'd receive a text once our table was ready. That part was fine. When we received the text, we returned to the same host stand where we originally checked in and were told to go "to the front." From there, things became very confusing. The host helped other guests before us, and when we finally got her attention, it became clear there was a lack of communication among the staff about where guests with a "table ready" text were supposed to go. The place appeared understaffed, so we tried to be patient, but when we explained our concerned, and it was not handled well and we were told to speak to the manager. We were then told to find the manager ourselves rather than having one called over. Eventually, the manager, Hector, found us. Instead of focusing on a solution or acknowledging the confusion, he made a very rude assumption, saying we were "walking around like we owned the place." That comment was completely uncalled for and inaccurate. We were only following the directions given to us by staff. Only after we explained that this was our first time at Casino Matrix did Hector begin to look for solutions. Even then, there was no apology for the poor communication or how the situation was handled. We did apologize to the hostess because it feels like she was caught in a crossfire of problems prior to us. The issue was not caused by us--it was due to a lack of coordination between hosts and a lack of professional leadership in resolving a simple problem. Once we were finally seated, service was slow at first. However, our server Alex was the one bright spot of the night. He was incredibly attentive, kind, and professional, and truly turned the dining portion of our visit around. If you do decide to come here and have Alex as your server, please tip him generously--he deserves it. Unfortunately, due to how management handled this situation, we will likely never return. Always a fun place to go! I went there to watch the 49'ers game while a friend sat at the poker tables. No sound was on. The drink and food prices are average for a casino. I ended up meeting a cool couple and went salsa dancing in Campbell afterward. It was a fun time! The reason for the four stars is that at the time of my visit, it didn't appear they had enough wait staff to cover the floor and the poker tables so hailing a waiter was a chore.
