We hosted our rehearsal dinner at SP2 and couldn't be happier with how it went. Our event coordinator, Samantha De Jesus, was pleasant and personable from the start, walked us through our options, and was more than willing to work with us on exactly what we needed. Since our wedding was the very next day and we'd be feeding a lot of the same guests again so soon, I didn't want to over-order food -- Samantha took our guest count and helped advise on the ideal order amount so we didn't end up with excess. She was incredibly accommodating in every other way too: she let us drop off our welcome sign and banner the night before, and when I mentioned I was planning to buy white roses for table decor, she offered up the restaurant's own carafes to use as vases. She even put together a slideshow for us -- I just sent over some photos and she had them playing on rotation on the projector throughout the night. Our bartender, Heather, was wonderful as well -- so kind to every guest, and she even helped our 8-year-old nephew track down the "top shelf" soda he'd asked for. I can't say enough good things about hosting an event at SP2. We'll definitely be back to celebrate there again soon. read more

the DJs were great throughout the night and service was wonderful... in a situation when safety should be the main concern, employees should be trained to handle disorderly conduct appropriately .. a bouncer took it upon himself to not only physically harm the crowd while bulldozing a patron ... when aconcerns were raised (that can be addressed in an orderly way) Things can be handled in a manner in which the other customers can continue to enjoy their time but this person I particular created a violent environment and disrupted the crowd. Not only in the crowd but directly behind the entertainment booth. I will be filing a police report for violence and harassment. There is a very thick line between order and direction and straight harassment. The pictures I attached are an obvious demonstration of physical assault.. There is no situation where an individual in a fully over capacity bar should be harassed in the manner that was experienced today. There is no room for personal "I have so and so too..." to play a part in someone's professional behavior. This bouncer harassed and harmed the crowd by his emotional reaction to something that was already been handled and was being worked on by a colleague. He escalated tensions by shoving people into the eachother. read more

I booked this venue for my engagement party and paid in full when I got to the event. In the next ten minutes, I stepped away to use the restroom with my brother. Upon returning, security staff approached me, accused me of wrongdoing without any clear explanation, and demanded additional payment to each of their security guards. They would not even get the manager when I asked and when I refused to comply with what was an unjustified demand, I was forcibly removed from my own engagement party in front of my family and friends. There was no wrongdoing on my end and I was not intoxicated at all as I had just arrived!! This was not only deeply embarrassing and upsetting on what should have been a celebratory occasion, but the conduct of the security staff was wholly unprofessional and, I believe, unlawful. Demanding payment under the table on these grounds and removing a paying customer without legitimate cause raises serious concerns. I would strongly caution anyone considering booking this venue for a private event or even going. If something goes wrong, do not expect to be treated with basic dignity or fairness. I will be pursuing this matter through the appropriate channels. read more

I arrived right as they opened up and was greeted fast by the bartender and served my drink fast. Two drinks came out to $50 with tip so it's pretty overly expensive. For the environment, there's no place to have an actual conversation. The music was blaring from every corner. The older male general manager was the most aggressive and rude person I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. My friend was calling me over to her and I think he thought she was shooing him away. He came in hot yelling at us telling us we were disrespectful and had bad attitudes. I tried to explain that we weren't even looking at him but he just got in our faces and yelled then called security over and he got in our face too saying we needed to apologize or get kicked out. I've never been so shocked by someone's behavior in their place of work. I come here a lot and used to love it now I feel uncomfortable going in case that man is working again. read more

This was my first time here and I visited during the Super Bowl so I'm not sure if it's usually this packed. We waited in line for an hour and were told the entrance fee was $15 by the time we got to the front the entrance fee had gone up to $25 our friend who joined us later entered at $40. I'm assuming this was due to the event. There is a dress code I would look up before going. Staff was friendly and security took their job very seriously. I had ordered the fries which came out quickly despite there being a lot of people. Overall it was a fun time and I would check them out again maybe not during a popular event. read more

Right downtown, it's such a cute place. There's a parking garage behind it, or you can find street parking. It's right next to the San Pedro Square Market. It has such a cute vibe. Outdoor seating and a bar outside as well. We got there when they opened for brunch so it was pretty empty. Nice and spacious inside. Plenty of bar seating too. The bathrooms were pretty clean, although I found it weird that the mens bathroom was wide open and I could see the urinals as I came out of the bathroom. Don't really want to see someones ass on my way back to my table. Maybe it was just because it was too early that they had the door open. Who knows. The plates are way bigger than I thought they'd be. I loved the mini muffins they gave us when we got their. The michelada was good! Service was good. SP2 is tucked away on the back side of San Pedro Square. Parking is easy in the garage a block away. We came here for a Sunday afternoon brunch. It wasn't crowded at all. Positives: We were greeted by the host who sat us at a table where I could see into the kitchen (I love watching the cooks, so I was in my happy place). We were served 2 little mini-muffins immediately, which was a nice way to start our experience. The food: we had the Garlic-Rosemary Tri-Tip Sandwich. It came with pickled vegetables, chili aioli, caramelized onions, and muenster cheese. The bread was crunchy, and the combination of flavors from the pickled veg, cheese, and aoli with the beef made this sandwich a winner. It came with well-salted fries. We also tried the Pork Belly Breakfast Sandwich: a colossal English muffin, hoisin-glazed pork belly, baked egg (a whopping 3 eggs...this sandwich was huge), white cheddar, pickled veggies, chili aioli, and home fries. The sandwich was substantial, and the hoisin glaze gave the pork belly a nice sweet & salty flavor. The service here was great. Negatives: The home fries that came with the Breakfast Sandwich were a bit bland and could have benefited from more seasoning. Atmosphere: My only critique was that the music was rather loud both inside and outside, which for us was slightly annoying as we were trying to have a conversation. Just a notch or two lower would have been great. Overall, I would come back again. I'm eying the Fried Chicken with hot honey. That's on my list for next time. read more

Our waitress was really nice and took our order pretty soon after we were seated. I shared the calamari pizza which was an unexpected favorite! It had vodka sauce and cheese with calamari on top and I would definitely order it again. Not something I would have thought would be as good as it was but I'd highly recommend it. One of the hispanic bartender with sunglasses, rude and condescending and didn't even make the cocktails right. I really will not go back to eat there, despite their menu being delicious. SP2 is a great spot for birthdays. We celebrated my business partner's daughter's 21st there with about 20 people and had an awesome time. The food and drinks were on point, and bottle service was definitely the way to go. Stopped by with 2 friends yesterday around 8pm. One female bartender helped me and she was super nice. Then I got a different bartender and different story. Overweight Asian guy who's been needing a haircut for weeks now gave me the absolute worst service. I asked for a beer on the menu. He said they were out. I went with a backup beer. He went to go pour it and when he moved, I informed him that I saw the beer that was "out" in the fridge. He said "ok man, you have to make up your mind which beer you want". I told him I want that one in the fridge that you said was out, but you actually have it. He goes "ok man, I'm not gonna start with you, I'm done serving you" and proceeds to cut me off, completely sober. Absolutely ridiculous and with a rather empty bar, getting rid of customers isn't a smart business move but it's obvious this man didn't care. So, I came here for my birthday with a group of 10 for my birthday on a Sunday. I enjoy their live music and the ambiance. My party had food next door at San Pedro Market so I brought my Stanley to stay hydrated. My Stanley contained water with ice since San Jose was experiencing another heat wave in July. Upon entering SP2, they shared you are not able to bring my Stanley inside and to leave it in the front. I did. Spent tons of money on drinks. I am sure my large party brought lots of business with all the drink orders. I was having so much fun! The band was great (sorry, I wish I could remember their name) and they kept me dancing. I totally forgot about my Stanley! Forgive me! It was my bday after all :). The next day, I called. Left a voice message. I even reached out to SP2 via Instagram so I can pick up my Stanley. No response. I actually left a few voicemails, showed up at SP2 (during closing time so maybe the timing was off) and communicated with someone via Instagram that they would look for it. The person on Instagram would never follow up after my messaged. I would send another reply message and say, "did you find it?". I am not sure if they ever found it, never looked of it, still have it or it is now officially stolen?!?!?! My Stanley is tan (sand color) with a Wharf to Wharf sticker on it! RIP Stanley. SP2 saves all the water bottles for their underground Stanley market LOL. I really tried to redeem it but SP2 was not cooperative. read more

I came here for happy hour on a weekday and was pleasantly surprised! At 4pm there wasn't much of a crowd there so we were able be seated immediately. We got the ribs, brussel sprouts, and ahi tuna. The ribs and brussel sprouts were 10/10 great presentation and quality for it being a HH item. The ahi tuna was okay, it was a tad bit fishy and not something I'd order again. read more

We came across SP2 during the block party last week. San Pedro Square Market was PACKED and we were lucky to have beat the crowds when we got to SP2. Great place for drinks and food! We were seated fairly quickly and the hostess even asked us if we wanted a water bowl for our friend's dog :) What was ordered: + Oysters - I was a little hesitant to order the oysters but they were great! They tasted fresh and came with two different types of sauces. + Pepperoni pizza - I wouldn't say this is a must order but it wasn't bad. The flavor was good but I felt the pizza could have been baked longer. The pieces were very soggy and the cheese would fall right off if you picked it up at an angle. + Lemon hummus - This was very unique and I enjoyed it! They gave ample pita bread and a large serving size of hummus to share. The pickled onions onions on top were really unique and gave the dish a bit of a nice crunch. I think there were some eggplant pieces in there too, which I skipped. + Pork belly buns - LOVED! I was surprised at how much I liked these because sometimes these can be a hit or miss. The bun was prepared well and wasn't soggy or coming apart. The pork belly pieces were glazed with a delicious sauce and came together really well. + Summertime magic - Highly recommend! I was torn between this and another drink and our waitress recommended this one and she was right! It was very similar to a Paloma with a hint of fruit to it. + Tri tip sandwich - The tri tip was really good but it was a bit too much for me as a sandwich. + Risotto - I didn't personally try this but our friends said it was delicious. The salmon that they added looked like it was cooked well, not too dry. + Puppy patty - I can't tell you what it tasted like but the dog sure enjoyed it! Instead of it coming out as one patty, they had it broken up into a few pieces to make it easier for the dog to eat. All in all, it's a great place to come with your friends and dog(s) to hang out! The service did get a bit slower towards the end of our meal but the place was starting to get packed so I can see why they were more scattered. read more
