This use to be my go to bar but it since has changed. Before it was more of a Club Bar with really good music and dancing and had since turned more in to a sports bar. It is still nice inside the atmosphere has just completely changed. read more

A little on the loud side which is expected from a sports bar. Our waitress seemed a little frazzled with the large amount of customers but once we placed our food order our meals came out in no time. Be sure to make a reservation if you are going pre game. So there's this one bouncer I see every time I come here who's an absolute dick. Probably never smiled in his life and insists on seeing everyones backup, just to be an ass. Other than that, the place is really fun, really big so it's perfect for a big group. Really disappointed in this place. My hotel was right around the corner and the front desk recommended this as a good place to watch a game, plus I'd heard good things before, but I had pretty bad experience. I was looking for the Cardinals/Giants game (obviously didn't expect a lot of enthusiasm for this game when I was across the street from Fenway, but Red Sox aren't in the playoffs this year, so not like they were playing on the same night and the place was pretty dead, so figured it wouldn't be an issue) I walked around the big triangular bar at the front and didn't see it anywhere, so I asked the bar tender if they had it on and he said just let him know where I was going to sit and they'd switch one of the TVs. I went around to the back of the bar because there was no one else back there, so I wouldn't bother anyone else by changing the TV. Bartender said he'd have someone change it right away. After about ten minutes it still wasn't on, so I asked him again and he acted like it was the first time he'd ever seen me, but again said he'd get it switched. Another five minutes with no change, I asked another bar tender, who also said he'd change it and took off around the corner, then came back a few minutes later and still no change. Asked a third bartender a few minutes later, same story. Service for food/drinks was equally bad, I sat there for several minutes at the bar before they even acknowledged me to take my drink order, I had to ask twice to get a food menu and after I did it took them another 10-15 minutes to get back to me to take my order, took them a very long time to clear my empty plate and refill my beer. The staff pretty much couldn't have cared less that I was there; I was just an annoyance to them. The food was mediocre. The Reuben was pretty good, no complaints there, but the fries were lukewarm and soggy when they got to me, and don't think they would have been that good even if they were fresh. I won't be going back; there are too many other good sports bars in the area to put up with the terrible service at this place. read more

The service was very good. I ordered mussels as an appetizer, which was a new item. There weren't nearly as many mussels as I expected there to be. About 1/3 of the shells were empty. The ones that did have something inside were pretty smell, but they were uniquely tasty. Upping the quantity of mussels by at least 2x as well as making sure each shell did actually have a mussel inside would help this dish a lot. I ordered the buffalo wings as a dinner. They were tasty and filling, which made up for the hole that the mussels left. I asked for ranch instead of Blu cheese, which came out in what I can only call a soup bowl. They really wasted the ranch as there was NO WAY I would have been able to put even a small dent into it. Overall I would go back, but I would never order the mussels again. read more

Lots of TVs, decent beer selection, and the food is alright. But my group was treated poorly when we were trying to stand and watch some March Madness games. The servers kept telling us to move away from their tables even though the area we occupying was open and the rest of the bar was cramped. If they're going to be so picky about where patrons can stand, then they should just go ahead and put tape on the ground and tell us where we're allowed to stand. One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a bar. Incompetent employees and the rudest managment team I have ever dealt with. Warning - they are in the habit of taking real IDs and making you wait for the police to come before they will give them back. I heard from another sports bar that THIS place has the best TV sports package and was voted best sports bar in America (south?) by espn. I walk in and see the NHL channel on (it's August hello?) and espn 1 thru U. That's it!? Best sports viewing bar? My arss. Anyhow a kid 25-29 demographic running the bar says "need sumpthin". The heck? Of course I do,I need a beer idiot. I order a beer while asking if they have the MLB package, he says "yeah it's out". "Out?" "Yeah it's not on". Brings me my beer promptly. I say "thanks, do you get the " "yeah but I have a bunch of drinks to make it will be awhile" me: "golf channel". He was gone for 10 mins. This is 3pm on Thursday. Nobody there... Asked for manager: 10 more minutes. Hi can u put golf channel on? Sure give me a few minutes. Not long after it came on but it absorbed 12 of the 30-40 TVs they had. So there is no way this is best sports bar in North/South/Central America. They can only put 2-3 different events on 40 TVs. Went to La Verdad a few minutes walk and they put golf on 1 of 10 TVs so as not to disturb others because they had 6 different events going. DON'T GO. IT'S BS read more

Cask 'n' Flagon provided a fun atmosphere on parade day (bagpipes and minimal "brodudes") that probably livens up big time when the Sox are playing. However, the food is completely bland. My group had four different meals and no one was excited at any point during the meal. The nachos appetizer was small considering the fact that it cost more than ANY of our individual meals ($11.99 are you kidding me?). Our waitress was friendly and attentive though and that will always score points with me. At most I only see myself going back for drinks if in the area during a game of any sort. read more

I always forget that I like it here, but only really in the off season because otherwise, too many tourists. I can come here and dance at Oliver's (the room in the back) to some sweet 80s and Top 40 without having to get all dressed up and pay a cover to bust a move like at other places. We can also take breaks and sit and enjoy some pitchers of beer while mingling and making new friends. Good bar food and I especially love coming here when the weather is warm to enjoy lunch outside. I love the Cask'n Flagon...I don't care if it's touristy or whatnot, it's so much fun and it's full of fun Bostonians. I love Lansdowne, especially in the spring. The windows in the front are huge, so nice to sit by the windows on a sunny day and people watch. The bartenders are friendly and so are the people. And the best part - no cover! I have been here after games and just on random nights out. I've never had food here, just drinks, so I can't say whether or not it's good and/or expensive. I assume it's general pub food. I love going to Olivers in the back to dance. They play a ton of 70's and 80's, which is a great mix to the usual Top 40 mix. Last time we were here there was a random dude in the corner watching himself dance in a mirror for a good hour or two. It was absolutely hilarious. Definitely fun with a large group. Room to relax and drink or dance. Can't go wrong. read more

My Diet Coke tasted funny. I couldn't really pinpoint it, but it tasted off. When I told the waitress, she said, "Oh yeah, the Diet Coke always tastes funny." They are aware of the Diet Coke tasting funny, yet they still sell it? And WHY does it taste funny? It also tasted BAD funny...like, undrinkable funny. I didn't want to pay for that nastiness in a cup. I asked them to bring me some iced tea free of charge. My Cobb salad was good, and we went on a slow night so the service was good as well, but that whole Diet Coke thing just grosses me out. I also think it's terrible for an establishment to knowingly serve a sub-par product. Makes me wonder what else goes on there. read more

I took my parents here for a pre-game dinner at about 4:30 p.m. We were seated within about 15 minutes and had good experiences with our bartender and with our server once we sat. Our food, however, was not good. My mom received the wrong burger. It was quickly run back to the kitchen, but just one extra topping was added and the burger was overcooked. My turkey burger, on the other hand, was raw. The server was busy, so I informed the manager passing by. He told me he would take it off the bill and said, "There's nothing I can do about it. I need to shut the whole bar down for a plumbing problem." He didn't remove the food (I sat there while the rest of the party ate with a raw plate of turkey in front of me) and was rude. I saw two managers walking around, but not actually interacting with guests. Clearly this was a crisis on a game day, but it looked like they provided zero support for the wait staff. And the person with whom I spoke appeared unkempt and very uncomfortable speaking with people. Our server tried to save the experience for us, but we won't be back any time soon. read more

One of the most famous bars in Boston. It use to be the place to go for Sox games. These days Lansdowne Street is stocked with bars that give this place a run for the money. It is very expensive. You pay for the location and the name. The food items are also expensive and the portions are small. Not the best bet for drinks in the Fenway area. read more

Stopped into the Flagon today for an easy drink to relax before the holiday madness. In brief, had a great bartender, and great drink service. But what really put it over the top tonight was the hostess Talia. She did a great job just checking around everyone on the floor to make sure they were having a good night, but she ended spending a wonderful conversation with me after making sure I was all set. We'd talk, she'd manage the floor, and then swing by to chat a bit more. Great positive person and made me feel like a VIP (something I'm sure other customers would say as well). Thanks Talia! Came here for lunch before a Fenway tour. The atmosphere was worth the stop! The burgers were so-so. Not bad for the price. The service was friendly and fast, but a little inconsistent. If you're in the area - especially sight seeing - I would recommend it. Not sure it would be worth the hassle of a crowd on game day though read more

My friend and I came in during a Red Sox game and Enio took care of us. Even when the game let out, Enio maintained a conversation with us while taking care of tons of guests. We will definitely come back. Also, the avocado quesadillas are BOMB. read more

This place is pretty big to hold all the people who travel to Fenway. I have gone for drinks at night and more recently to watch college football. I assume this one lady was a manager and she couldn't have been more accommodating in switching channels on televisions for us. We even moved to another table since there were more of us than expected. The beer kept coming and I ordered a patty melt to absorb the liquid in my belly. It was cooked nicely and pretty darned tasty for bar food. I wouldn't mind coming back here for more! Husby got this buffalo chicken cheese dip in a bread bowl, which was delicious. The pitchers were a bit more expensive than I expected but it was not too bad. I liked that there was room and you could still have conversations. This might be our new go-to spot this fall. read more
