The only thing I might make a suggestion about is the very small amount of ice cream served with the dessert, but it's not a big deal. The customer service met my expectations; the waitress was very attentive and cordial. The ambiance was welcoming, I felt at home. What a beautiful spot in seaport to have Bostonian fare and listen to live music. The bowl of New England clam chowder was large and in charge of yummy goodness! The fresh lobster roll had giant pieces of lobster dripping with warm butter and sandwiched between a fluffy, flaky soft roll!!! Rather disappointed. Actually, I'm very annoyed. Stopped in for early dinner today, around 5pm, Sunday July 5. Dining room had one other table which we were seated next to. The server came over, got us iced tea, brought no sweetener. Then asked for it. Then he was talking to the hostess and I had to flag him down to get it. And waited. Service was really good and attentive. The food was really good. We got brussels sprouts, corn and crab hush puppies, and chips with street corn dip and all were delicious. I got the warm lobster roll at market price which wasn't bad at $39. It was a very good lobster roll and fries. It filled me up. I didn't drink, but the rest of my team did and they liked the variety selection of beers, mixmixed cocktails, and wine. A bit too sweet, not super strong. And at a fair price point for seaport. I've also never been to a place that offers it on the rocks vs straight up, interesting option. The Pork Nachos were a solid choice, not too big of a portion but enough for two. The chips didn't become soaked immediately, but our main critique was that toppings weren't distributed throughout, and that there wasn't a ton of pork. Terrible experience at this restaurant yesterday. Last year I had visited this place and had enjoyed it, but unfortunately it had gone downhill significantly. It was extremely loud and hard to talk to the people in the booth across from me. We were seated, waited for 30 minutes and no staff came to our table. We tried to flag over a few servers and were blatantly ignored. I finally went and asked the hostess if someone was going to be coming. Once she sent over a server, it took another 20 minutes for him to bring over our drinks. We ordered food and had asked for a modifications on one of the dishes. The dish came out and was not made the way that we asked, but we were unable to send it back because the server literally didn't come back for another 20 minutes, and we were ready to get out of there. Yesterday was a most beautiful fall day to sit outside and have a late lunch at City Tap before a show. My husband ordered two local beers and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and enjoyed them both. I had honestly the best burger I've ever had. Requested medium, and it was cooked to juicy perfection. It doesn't come with a tomato, I had to ask. So delicious. We shared dessert and got the chocolate ganache tart with raspberry. Again, one of the best things I've ever had the pleasure of eating. City Tap is everything you need. Massive tap list and really good food. I had the curried chicken bowl which was fabulous. The taps are obscure local/regional brewed only found here. Place was packed when I was there during Bruin playoff hockey but got a seat at the bar and bartenders were rocking but attentive. Ambience feels like a cool upscale sportsy bar with a really nice upscale bar menu. Definitely a cool place to hang if you're a beer lover. read more

I stumbled across City Tap House during a recent visit to Boston. I was on the hunt for a place that had a basic enough menu because I wanted a burger or something that simple. I visited a little before what I assume is their lunch rush so the restaurant wasn't that busy. The inside of the restaurant is massive and can easily accommodate a variety of party sizes. They have a ton of booths so that is a plus to me. My party was quickly seated and the hostess was friendly. The service once my party was seated was extremely slow for the restaurant not to be packed but our waitress was really friendly. Once the order was placed I barely saw the waitress to the point that we had to visit the hostess to trigger the check coming to the table. I ended up ordering the pork nachos and it must be an art to make something that is so simple flavorless. I kid you not the pork didn't taste like anything and the creamy cheese was not tasty. I normally love nachos because they are simple but I couldn't even finish a quarter of the dish. I ended up going to Shake Shack after my visit because I was still hungry. I was disappointed with my visit and it felt like a waste of hungry especially since the nachos are above $16.
