Had the kabob combo with rice, which has the kubideh (ground beef and lamb) and chicken kabob. The cooking is on point, meat is so moist and juicy, especially the kubideh. They're like mini hamburgers cooked to perfection and I could really taste the lamb flavor but it was still a little bland for me, I was expecting more flavor and spice. I think I liked the chicken kabobs more. The seasoning that's sprinkled on top is magical, so good! Chicken is very tender and juicy. Rice is fluffy and delicious, paired perfectly with the meat. The cool yogurt sauce it scrumptious too! So fresh and creamy, even tastes awesome with the meat. They really do have the freshest and best quality kabobs here, pick this place in Portland's aisle of food truck heaven if you're craving kabobs. read more

What an amazing place! I was headed to DesiPDX but they were not open. Lucky for me! The best lamb/beef kabob in a pita! The seasoning and flavor of meat was like nothing I have ever had. By a landslide, the best kabob I've ever had (and that's saying something, I've spent a lot of time in Berlin-which is known for having some killer kabob). I had the Kubideh (beef and lamb) Kabob over rice. The meat was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. I could eat nothing but that for the rest of my life and be happy. It came with saffron rice, roasted tomatoes, yogurt sauce, and an incredibly fresh and delicious cucumber & tomato salad. Everything about the dish was absolutely perfect (addicting even, I'll be back soon for sure). The owner was also amazing. Very kind, patient, and even brought my food to me. Incredible food !! The kebabs were bang on and you could taste meat which is how it should be instead of being overpowered by the spice. The chicken was juicy which isn't the easiest to get . The rice too was perfectly cooked. Very nice people at the desk . They were overwhelmed with orders from a party of 10 people before us and it was off peak hours. They were just 2 to take orders , cook and bus tables . The pita sat on the counter and wasn't warm when it was brought to the table but the good baba ganoush made up for it . I'll add to the chorus of 5-star reviews for this place, now that I've tried most everything on the menu. The meats are really juicy and flavorful. My favorite is the chicken on salad. Very fresh ingredients, though I do wish he said where his meats come from (hopefully natural, not factory-farm raised). The owner is friendly and nice to chat with while he's making your meal. What else can I say about Caspian Kabob that hasn't already been said before? This place is putting out some of the finest Persian food in the city, all from a humble little food cart behind Prost! I've been here a few times and still can't possibly understand how the owner cooks the kabobs to that degree of perfection. It's actually unbelievable. Try the beef/lamb combo if you don't believe me. The meat is so juicy & tender, yet perfectly charred! It's truly an experience to be had. You can get the kabobs over rice rather than greens, but I can't say enough about their Greek salad. The dressing is light and flavorful, especially after mixing with the salty, meaty juices (yeah, I said it). Anyways, I love you Caspian. A late night Lyft driver recommended this food cart and I spontaneously decided to give it a shot! A little back story here, I lived in Rome for a little over a year and my flat was above a Donar Kabob. I fell in love with it! When I returned to the US I struggled to find authentic Donar Kabob. Based on my Lyft drivers recommendation, I thought maybeee...just maybeee this place might have something similar. I walked up to the cart, started chatting with the owner (who is incredibly friendly), and he mentioned he had a special Monday/ Wednesday...DONAR KABOB. I quite literally had to hold back tears of joy. The Kabob was extremely flavorful, perfect balance of spices! The portion was huge! I fed me for two meals! The prices are also great! I will be making this one of my regular lunch spots from now on! read more

Tasted like a home cooked meal. I had the salad which was extremely fresh and the right balance of veggies. It didn't even need dressing, it was so good. My husband and son had the kubideh and chicken. The kubideh was so savory and juicy, and the chicken breast was so light but juicy also and had a mild, but in a good way, yet achieved a flavorful taste. The owners are extremely kind and even let us order right before closing and didn't make us feel rushed at all. We love to support businesses like this - good food with friendly smiles and a love for what they do. Would definitely come back. My rating is based on the chicken and beef kabab combo. I give it three stars because the ground beef kabab lacked the onion saffron flavor I expect from koobideh and tasted like a hamburger patty really. The chicken had an odd chewy texture. So so so good! My family and I were in Portland for a family wedding and decided to come here and it was by far the best Persian food we've ever had! The meat was so tender and juicy and the rice has such a nice, fluffy consistency. The salad and yogurt also really helped to balance out the meat and rice's richness. Best Persian food I have had in Portland, extra points for pulling it all off in a food truck: Portland style, along with very friendly service. Definitely worth trying. I have been wanting to go to this cart for a while but as it is open only on weekdays it has been hard for me to make it. But, this holiday season this small wish of mine also got granted. The food: was amazing. We had the Donner kabob in a pita with some veggies and hot sauce. The meat was very flavorful and it tasted different, read good different, than what I have had at other places. The donner meat is the Turkish influence on this Persian cuisine. We also had a taste of the Kubideh kabob, mix of beef and lamb, and it was a perfect example of how a good kabob should taste. It was juicy inside but still well cooked and very well flavored. The service: was excellent too. We reached while it was raining and it was a slow day overall. So the owner talked with us for a while explained his philosophy of only serving food that he considered good to his customers. His expression of joy achieved through serving food to others made the whole experience even more fulfilling. A must try food truck in Portland. read more

As many people before have said I shall too say these are some of the best Persian kabobs you can get in the city! Truly juicy koobideh. The owner is so humble and says "oh I just thought I would try cooking for more than my family" but I can't imagine him not having thought that because where would we downtown Portlander's be without his delicious Persian food?!?! He gives you healthy portion, accepts credit cards or cash and conveniently stays open until 4 o'clock which is later than a lot of the other food carts in the area. Caspian Kabob is one of my favorite lunch spots in the area. I work just up the block so I've had a chance to sample many of the carts around multiple times. So far I've tried most of the items on the menu and it's hard to pick a favorite, but I will do you the favor of reviewing two of my go-to items. The barg (sirloin kabob) is always tender and full of flavor. Victor the owner, who is incredibly nice, let me in on one of the secret ingredients in his marinade, and it is evident that this guy knows what he's doing. Being Persian myself, I always order my kabob's the traditional way with a hearty helping of saffron rice, shirazi salad, and maast o' khiar (dill & cucumber yoghurt). My default order there is the koobideh (ground beef/lamb kabob). It can be really difficult to find good koobideh anywhere except a restaurant, and even then it can be hard to find a place that gets it right. Most people don't want to put in the effort to properly mince, grind, and mix the meat to the proper proportions of meat to fat to onion. Caspian Kabob has spent some time figuring out the recipe. The result is a kabob that has excellent texture and flavor. There are a lot of great food carts in the area, Caspian Kabob is among the best and if you want a taste of authentic Persian cuisine, this is the place to go. Other notes: -Every so often they make other traditional Persian stews or dishes, I don't know how they stack up to my mom's cooking but they always smell incredible and I hope that some of them make their way on the menu. read more

The salad that came on the pita with it was very refreshing. The pita itself seemed very fresh and delicious. The service was really good. The employees were very friendly. Beef/ Lamb Kabob salad. The meat was juicy, tender and well-seasoned. Quality that you can taste. I didn't have the Gyro-looking item, but it's essentially the salad but with pita bread, so I know it's probably delicious too. This place knows what they're doing. I hope the stay. There are like 10 Kabob-middle-eastern-Gyro-type of places in this foodcart pod. Most of them have that old-looking ground grey meat on a spit that rotates. This place is NO such thing.
