I am obsessed with this place since I discovered it back in summer. I have been to many places in the world and tasted some really amazing kabobs and let me tell you this place is real deal. I tried the vegetarian Kabobs sandwich, but unfortunately I was really disappointed..., the menu clearly states that the sandwich is made of Portobello mushroom , but it had 3 pieces of button mushroom I could of had better tasting sandwich somewhere else for $9 read more

Caspian Kabob is located in Beaverton's new West End District. With its restaurants, shops, and living quarters this area is becoming a city in itself. Caspian Kabob is located on the corner of one of the West End's large buildings. The restaurant itself is very attractive and comfortable. Bright white walls with pictures of the old country. Caspian Kabob is an order at the counter type of operation. They give you a number and then bring the food to your table. The person helping me was quiet and unfriendly. The menu includes falafel, pita and dips, kabob platters, salads, and sandwiches. On my visit I opted for the gyro sandwich. The meat (beef/lamb) was nicely seasoned but the sauces were just so-so. My sandwich included just a handful of very mediocre French fries. I've had much better gyro platters at other Beaverton locations. The lack of enthusiasm rubbed off on me. Though certainly not a bad place I can't see myself getting excited about returning. read more

The kebabs are amazing - one taste and you will realize why persian food destroys Arab or other middle eastern cuisine (no offense to them) ONE CATCH: this place closes completely randomly. I've come at least 8 times when it was "open" but actually it was closed so call first before you drive there. If you get no answer, it's closed for catering or something, even though google maps says it's open. Very hit or miss schedule... I would like to start with the staff. Fantasy honestly really kind & thanks to the chef listening he caught that I can't have the chicken kebabs cause they are covered in mayo before they are grilled. So thank u again and I would say the salad was very good tho I had to go home & get a dressing. I do understand everyone has a difference culturally and maybe olive oil is how a lot of people eat salad but for me i prefer at least vinegar. So bring ur own dressing if u go here. The lamb was ok it was super easy to cut. The rice tho I will say was not as good as I've made at home. I definitely think it's worth trying it's very possible this could still be ur fav place even if it wasn't mine. The French fries were good tho. The place was very clean and since there weren't a lot of tables I assume most people get the food to go. It is hard to find the location cause you wouldn't assume it's in the middle of an apt complex. So maybe want to advertise that a bit better. read more

There's a reason why this place has five stars with 200 reviews. The most flavorful, succulent chicken kabob I have had in a very long time. The ground lamb and beef kebab was very tasty. The basmati rice was perfect. The hummus was good. I do wish they serve more yogurt with your platter. But honestly the flavors here are so well balanced and the meat is so perfectly marinated and grilled this is definitely a five-star restaurant and anyone who's unfamiliar with Persian food needs to put this place on their calendar and go here as often as possible The only thing that would be fantastic is if they served wine and beer... I've been here a few times now. Love all the food I've tried so far. Love the Persian tea. I am deducting a star, though, because the gentleman (the owner, I'm guessing?) is super nice when I've eaten there with a friend, but totally different when I've been there by myself doing a take-out - he just stares at me (makes me feel super unwelcomed) and even his tone of voice is totally different from when I'm there with a friend. Which is such a shame as this is the closest place to get gyro and such. The Gyros are excellent. The best my husband has had in the Portland area. Also, the most affordable Gyro he has ever had and they are very generous with their tzatziki sauce which was also delicious. My chicken kabobs were tender and the rice was the best I've ever had(very fluffy), and I've been to many Middle Eastern restaurants. The veggie kabob was also a nice combination with the meat, and the tzatziki sauce was excellent. We plan to go again, The folks that run this restaurant are actually Middle Eastern and very hospitable even though most people take out their food. read more

I tried a fair amount of food in Portland and I can honestly say the food here was my favorite. It's amazing how such a small kitchen produces such big flavors. I'm assuming Victor was the one manning the cart and he was super nice to deal with. He made sure the food we got was good and even chopped it up with us for a few minutes. We got the combo which was 12 bucks and it was well worth the price. Victor did not skimp out on the portions. I really like the sauce he mixed the rice with and the snap of the meats when you bite in to it. I've had Mediterranean food and Persian food and this is by far one of the best I've ever had. Taste: 4 stars. I got the Caspian kabob, which is a chicken plus a veggie skewer. It's good, and probably the best I've had in Portland, but if you've lived in NYC or even DC, you'll know it ain't the best. Dude in front of me swore by the rice and I'm just like, "it's rice". And it was. The best part of the experience was not having my taste buds destroyed by a salt bomb, which happens too often with kabobs. Everything was flavorful and fresh. Victor happened to open his stand this long weekend so we were lucky that we had a chance to taste such great food in Portland! I ordered the minced beef and lamb kabob wrapped in pita bread. It smelt so good when Victor was preparing the kabob, and the pita wrap was very pretty. I can't resist the urge of stopping in the middle of the street to take a picture for this pita because it looks so vivid under Portland's grey sky! Victor is such an artistic cook who arranged the food like a piece of art. Grilled red tomato cut into pieces laying on top of kabob. Purple onions, green herbs and veggies sprinkle on top. I was pretty sure I had died and gone to heaven when I ate at Caspian Kabob's food cart. I ordered the Kubideh plate with basmati rice and a cucumber and tomato salad. It was perfection! The kabob was juicy and flavorful, and the rice went perfectly with the sauce they served alongside. The portions are HUGE. Lots of amazing food for a very reasonable price. The service was so friendly. You could definitely tell that the owner has such a passion for the food he serves and business he runs. He was doing the cooking himself and just looked so happy! My friend and I got the kofte kabob (lamb and beef) on pita. Well...she had the foresight to get it and im trying to claim credit. Anyway the food took some time since he made it fresh but he was super nice and let us try two sauces. The pomegranate-walnut and tomato based hot sauce. He made some idle chitchat and gave us our food and this conversation ensued: Me: is that really one order or are you just being nice to us? Him: it's one order, ladies. In other words, it was huge!!! AND he was nice to us. So he really should have answered yes to both. ;) Meat was juicy and the veggies were great! I was surprised that I didn't have to wait in a much anticipated line. It gave me a chance to converse with Victor and I must say, he has a great & pleasing personality. He cares about what he serves. I had the Kubideh Kabob which is ground lamb and beef. It came with a mix of basmati white and saffron rice along with a broiled tomato, tzatziki sauce, cucumber & tomato salad and a little Persian hot sauce. It was fantastic plate of food for $9.00 and I got to relax in the sun a nearby park. This is one of the reasons PDX in on the national radar map. Well done Victor! read more

Discovered this place 'cos an amazon local deal showed up in my inbox. Thought I'll give it a shot! Well what can I say, thanks amazon. Its another cart in the big food cart area by 10th and Alder, and serves kebabs only, but don't think this is any other persian cart. There are quite a few in this area which serve up some pretty good persian and middle eastern food but this cart is really really good. I got the Kubideh Kebob (mixture of beef and lamb) with the salad and the yoghurt based sauce. The kebobs were fresh, juicy, and an intricate mixture of spices and flavors, realistically, its 5 stars for just the kebob and I can end the review here. I must mention that the quantity of food for the price is excellent, I got a ton of some very fresh salad garnished with olives and feta which complimented the kebobs well. Will be back to try some of the other kebobs, wish he was open till later on saturdays, I would have stopped by for dinner so much more often!! read more

We stayed in Portland last summer and I got to try Caspian Kabob a few times. During the months I was away, I would dream of this place, salivating thinking about the doner and kubideh kebob - it's really that good. Victor, the owner, is a great guy and takes pride in his craft. Every Monday and Wednesday, he makes doner the hard way, by stacking the meat by hand - a 2-3 hour process.
