    Lamb Gyro

This place is our go-to gyro spot for sure! We have only dined in once a long time ago and now we mostly order through their website for take out. It's a fast and efficient process. The parking lot can be busy to navigate through with other businesses in this complex but there are spots right at the door if you're just doing a quick pick up. Service has always been friendly and they have a very strict pick up procedure for verification at the pick up order counter - mostly for delivery services but it can get intense during peak meal times. But it looks like they might now have a window dedicated to those services. The restaurant is open and spacious with an open kitchen. The walls are filled with colorful murals and cultural decor and had tables for different group sizes. Our favorite is the Lamb Gyro and they PILE ON the meat! Also we love the round crinkle cut Greek fries (it's usually not super crispy for take out so we just heat it back in the air fryer) but we always get the spicy garlic sauce and the feta cheese toppings. I tried the Baba Ghanouj this time but it was too acidic for me...but the pita bread that came with it was nice and fluffy though. Come try this local business (they have a few other locations) when you have a craving for Mediterranean food and you won't be disappointed with the portion size or taste!

Go here if you are in the area - they offer a HUGE amount of meat in their gyros (like 1.5 or 2x a normal gyro) with a delicious spicy garlic sauce. 2100+ reviews here compared to like 150 at other gyro places was what stood out to me first. We came back here and this was the only spot we ate at twice while in the Portland area. I got the Lamb Shawarma Plate and it was good but I think the half and half gyro was better. The Hummus is a little tahini forward, which is good but not my favorite. I prefer the tahini to be more hidden. Gyro was delicious and especially with the spicy garlic sauce. Highly recommend.

Tried this place on a weekend. Not much crowded and the ambiance is really nice. Very welcoming owner and staff. Tried their plates, shawarma plate, vegetarian plate, baklava. The food was delicious and awesome. The pricing was decent. Overall, a really good Mediterranean place to try if you're around or looking for some Mediterranean food.

I ordered this lamb gyro pizza at 1pm on a weekday and it was ready in 15 minutes as promised. The toppings for the pizza were great but the base tasted pretty basic and bland. Definitely think I would have enjoyed it more had I just gotten an actual gyro.

10/10 experience. Food is so fresh and delicious you can truly taste the authenticity. The gentlemen working there are very kind and provided a good customer service as well! I got the lentil veggie soup with a lamb gryo salad and it was so damn good! a great spot to try and go back to for sure!

OMG! What a wonderful, surprising GEM we found in this unpretentious, but thoroughly authentic family-run restaurant! Cannot stop gushing about this place. I've never been to Greece before so I may be a little naive. But the food is wonderful, servings are generous and the staff is friendly. It appears that they do a bustling take out business, but take the time to dine-in and enjoy the smells of grilled lamb and freshly baked pita. We had the lamb and beef gyros (of course) and literally could not finish it. So much unctuous lamb and beef! Same for the shwarma plate with Greek salad - FRESH cucumbers, onions and onions. Perfectly seasoned! We were in town for a graduation so we only had limited time - but we found enough time to go back again. DO NOT miss the fresh hummus - smooth and perfectly seasoned 0and don't forget to order extra pita. Yes, yes ys, the baklava was AWESOME but the manager Omar suggested a new dessert for us to try, Kanafeh is a well-known middle eastern sweet cheese-like delicacy. The step it up by adding vanilla ice cream sprinkled with crushed pistachios. I actually added a picture. WOW!!! Oh yeah, the prices are very reasonable and the portion sizes allows for lots of sharing.

This food was absolutely to DIE for wow. I didn't want to stop eating. They even gave us a creamy garlic sauce on the house. Thanks guys! This was the perfect meal to keep me going on with my day. Will definitely be dining in again and recommending to everyone I know :)

Still great food here! We've ordered food many times since my first review and it's still worth 5 stars! We especially like their veggie pizza and veggie mezza!

Should have known, walking in here at 1pm, we were the only patrons. That's okay, maybe it's after the holidays and people are at home saving money. A couple of things I want to point out: 1) An employee sneezed and didn't change her gloves and continued working by handling cups. I had to ask another employee to tell her to change them out, but she was very hesitant to do so. 2) Another employee coughed over the condiments bottles (hoisin) and didn't cover her mouth. 3) The pho soup was so oily! By the time I was done with my meal, it felt like my mouth was rinsed in oil, and there was nothing I could do to get rid of it. The upside: 1) Cute place, well decorated 2) Pho soup tasted authentic and it was hot & steamy when it came out. (Small portions.) Pho #1 is $17.00 for one choice of meat. I will not be back. Parking lot is shared among other businesses, so there are plenty of spots to park.

Best sandwiches in town, perfect for a weekend at the lake. It's like the sandwich you dream of.read more

Really looking forward to the day that Salami Mammi opens and beats every "Italian" sandwich shop…read morein this town into a bloody pulp. Monkey's has apparently been around a while and does enough of the basic things right that a friend thought it would be a good idea if I went over and gave it a shot. Since my family moved out here from back east, and I followed a few years later, I've been horrified by what passes as a sub in Oregon and infuriated by the places that put out Italian flag colors, say they have "Italian" subs, then hand you something on leftover pizza crust with unshredded lettuce, mayo, mustard, and turkey that you aren't supposed to question or curse at them about (you know who you are). Monkey's faceplants into this trap by saying they do things "old school." As I've learned out here, if something dates back to the '90s and was here when the mall was an airport and the current staff's homes were farmland, it's "old school." In Monkey's case, "old school" dates ALL THE WAY back to 2000 and, for some reason, involves adding mayo and mustard to subs when oil and vinegar already exists on them. Hey buddy, let me clue you in since nobody's been kind enough to tell you for 26 years: The oil and vinegar are already doing the job that you think the mayo's doing. If Jessup McOveralls comes in and tells you your really decent sub rolls are "too dry" without mayo, it means you aren't adding enough oil and vinegar to the equation. Those condiments should not only serve as dressing for the (shredded) lettuce and (sliced) onions and tomatoes, but should soften up the bread a bit and enhance the flavor of the entire sandwich--especially when blessed with a bit of oregano. Monkeys not only blows through that fairly basic recipe, but commits sacrilege aginst its ham, cotto, and provolone by burdening them with mortadella (Italy's answer to bologna) and CHEDDAR cheese. What, did this "Italian" sub make a side trip to Dublin or Wisconsin? Who the hell puts cheddar on an Italian sub and deems that an appropriate use of everyone's time? And because it's Lesser Beaverton (Aloha), there just has to be a version of this "Italian" sandwich that throws turkey and roast beef into the equation. At least we found some use for that mayo/mustard combo. The "old school" subs dispense with the cheese and slather the mayo and mustard on some combination of ham, salami, and pepperoni. Beyond that, the menu is replete with bacon, turkey, tuna, roast beef, french dip and a bunch of other nods to some of the worst sandwich chains this nation has shoved toward Middle America. I give the place two extra stars for the bread and the staff who was pleasant enough (even if they blew through my "no mayo or mustard" request), but Monkey's can leave the "East Coast touch" out of its motto. These are West Coast subs that went though a Midwest wringer, and whoever is comparing them to Jersey Mike's needs to realize that Covid likely knocked out whatever sense of taste or texture they once had.

Both drinks came out with a pretty green color, no clumps, very smooth and were not too sweet. The service was wonderful, all drinks are made to order and many contain local ingredients. I had the Salted Banana Cream Latte on ice with a house made banana cream. I typically try to switch it up and try some of their other flavors, which are always good, but this drink in particular always feels me back in. And evidently it is a customer favorite because while I was there I heard and least 5 other people after me order it. Sat in a very cute little corner booth that I can imagine would be a good place to study or read in private, today we chose to play Jenga! Among many boardgames the cafe also offers puzzles and miscellaneous art supplies. They also sell a lot of handmade goods, I bought a crochet too from there and it's definitely in my top 10 most complimented clothing pieces I own!

Here's one of the things I love about The 649. They have a fantastic selection of mocktails that are created with the same creativity, flair, and intention as a "leaded" cocktail. I appreciate that I get to participate and not be stuck with a lemonade, zero alcohol beer, or wine. So, HUZZAH for creating an inviting space for a non-drinker! There *are* times when I'm willing to risk the lobster-bod, itchiness, and stuffy nose and there are plenty of cocktails from which to choose! [Food] There's a nice selection of sharable plates and mains. I've personally tried the flatbread pizza, Bavarian pretzel, Cubano, and Brisket Press, all of which were delish. [Service] The service has always been fabulous. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. [Activities] There are a few TVs around the bar with sports. It was a great place to catch some of the World Cup games. Additionally, there are several games that you can borrow and play, which is a lot of fun. Because it's somewhat hidden in the corner of a Safeway shopping plaza. Look for the Baskin Robbins or Wells Fargo ATM and your find it. Like other reviews, when busy, parking can be a bit horrendous. But in hindsight, I'm not gonna reduce a star just because of location. * Bar Food Menu & Dining * Their menu starts with shareable bites, like a pretzel, tacos, quesadilla, loaded nachos, and even a charcuterie plate. Slightly larger dishes would be their Cubano and Brisket Press sandwiches. They even have a few choices for soup and salads, and a couple of dessert items listed. Don't forget to check the chalkboard next to the bar for specialty dishes and drinks. As for dining-in, they've got sturdy wooden tables that can accommodate 4-8 people. Bar stools by the windows, and a fairly large outside patio area. And with the times I've been here, I've never seen a dirty table. Very well maintained (two thumbs up). A few TV monitors showing the game, but its not like a noisy sportsbar. * Drinks & Services* You've got your choice of craft beers that rotate like a standard tap room. They also have tasty seasonal cocktails, but their normal everyday cocktails are just as good. And if you're gonna have a charcuterie board, then you've got to offer a wine list option right? Well they got that too! One last thing to mention, they've got some top-shelf bourbon and whiskey. The 649 is a bar that offers it all! Service has also been welcoming and top-notch. I recall only been served by Rich, Steven, and Crystal, but they always seem to craft up some lovely cocktails. Or deliver some clean tasting everyday type of bar food as well. * Last Call * Normally in my reviews, I'd list every item that I've tried, with price included. But The 649 is such a unique type of bar experience that I feel you should try for yourself; To me, their offerings are reasonably priced. Dining in is nothing fancy, but service is excellent. It's a great hangout for a business date, of even after a first date. I've got nothing but love for local support!
