When we arrived for our lunch reservation, we were greeted by smiling faces and a taste of their wonderful, recently released Viognier. The grounds of this winery are beautiful, yet comfortable. We had a nice group lunch and wine tasting here. I had the most loveliest time here with views of the grapevine and walking through the garden and watching the farm chickens. The wine was good. The lunch is nothing to rave about. The marinara sandwich didn't have any marinara sauce; we recognized this because marinara is typically red. We had to request for additional condiments since the food is quite dry. Despite the food, the service was ok and our waiter was friendly. Servers definitely seemed stretched and we had to ask several times for basic items like cutlery and condiments, and there was very little explaining about the wine tasted. We were a large group catching up after not seeing each other for a long time though so I understand that they might not have wanted to interrupt our conversation. My girlfriends and I met in the area since half of us live in NorCal, the other half South. All five of us agree that Josh made our entire weekend. We felt a bit out of place versus the other patrons, at least upon arrival. The moment we met Josh, though, we felt welcomed. Most people doing the winery trail through Paso Robles will likely never get off of highway 46. My advice: get lost in the backroads every now and then! On advice from Tobin James, and with food on the brain, we meandered through the countryside to find this little gem. The food was excellent, much better than expected for how deep in the cuts it is! And bonus, you can handle 2 tasks at once, wine tasting and eating lunch at your dining table! After eating, we sauntered up to the bar and chatted with the owner for a half hour or so, it being a slow Monday. This kind of experience just doesn't happen in more pretentious wine regions. All in all, a very rewarding experience and worth the detour. read more

No industry discount, what the hell makes these guys so damn special? Free tastings and a 30% discount is standard for people in the business. We LOVE Cass Winery. We seriously have never tasted a wine here that we didn't really like. We also really enjoy their food. The other day we drove up to pick up our wine from their wine club. We decided to have lunch. We both got their delicious burger. I got their home made Parmesan potato chips. My husband got their side salad with a Balsamic vinaigrette. We've been here twice now, and in full disclosure we joined the wine club after the first visit! On our first visit, we sat outside on the patio and Linda helped us out. It was beautiful, quiet, and we had a great lunch. I had the chicken salad and my husband had the Caesar salad. The food was fantastic, and the portions were very generous. I enjoyed taking our time to go through the tastings, and we couldn't find a single wine we didn't enjoy. Some of our favorites though were the Oasis Rose, Marsanne, Rockin' One Red, Backbone Syrah, and of course, the cab and the 2015 Reserve. Linda did an outstanding job explaining the wine to us, and we had a wonderful time. (obviously, since we joined the club!) We are looking forward to our first pick-up party this next weekend, and since we were out for a drive yesterday, we stopped in around mid-afternoon. The parking lot was very full. We made our way into the tasting room. It was jam packed, two deep at the bar. It was suggested to us more than once that we get a table instead, but in looking around it was very clear there wasn't a free table, and we didn't want to eat anyway. I was just about to tell my husband band that we should leave, figuring that we'd just picked an off day, when someone was able to wait on us. I felt silly saying we were in the wine club when the place was so packed, but I finally told the person helping us (I believe her name was Mikayla and I'm sorry I've just destroyed the spelling of her name!) We just wanted to revisit the wines and see if we still liked them. So this time, we stood at the bar, and still enjoyed each one. We didn't mind that our server was busy and couldn't stand over us to chat - we just wanted to try the wine again on our own steam anyway, so it worked out well. After the tasting we bought two glasses of the Syrah and walked out under the large oak tree to sit, which was glorious. Cass is a fantastic winery and definitely worth a visit. To out-of-town visitors, it might feel like it's quite a way out from Paso, but it's a gorgeous area to drive (the roads can be twisty so be careful!), and it is so nice to be away from most of the hustle and bustle of the massive tasting rooms. It's off the beaten track, and the wine is fantastic. Enjoy! read more

A bit out of the way for a Paso winery but worth it especially if you're a white wine/Grenache fan. The Roussanne was a pleasant surprise, the first I've had, creamy with a hint of nutmeg, finishing slightly of honey. I do not like Rose, but on a warm day the Oasis Rose was refreshing, even tempting me to purchase another glass elsewhere, again on a hot day. Their first pour, the Viognier was my favorite though, very interesting with almost a tropical twist of grapefruit, lime, pineapple & lychee. It's big & full on the palate. The ambience was exquisite. We arrived the night after the owner's daughter had been married on the grounds & the decorations left over were charming & the patio lent itself to quiet conversation & pleasant memories. read more

My fiance and best friends found it on New Years 2023 to be open from an on- line search. Long road to the Winery, but well worth it. It was only open for members and repeat locals. Visited Cass winery on labor day weekend for lunch after a big disappointment being turned away at Tooth and Nail. They were packed, but they were able to accommodate us, a party of 4 adults and a toddler. It was very hot day with not much wind but we got seated immediately at where it seems to be their members only area. Setting was very nice with enough shades under the tree and umbrella. My daughter asked for ice cream and our server, [I'm bad at remembering names], whom initially said they have no ice cream of any kind came back shortly after to tell us that they do have gelato, which is better, in their tasting room. Thank you very much for that. We ordered a bottle of sauvignon blanc and it was really good, although not the best pairing for the food we ordered, but it was chilled and quite enjoyable. Beautiful Place, Excellent Wine, Great Staff! My Fiance & I visited Cass this past weekend. My Fiance surprised me with horseback riding that let us ride thru the Cass Vineyards, very beautiful. We chose the venue for our wedding because catering and coordination was all included with the venue and we wanted to keep things as simple as possible. And it was. The staff are like a well oiled machine. We didn't have a care in the world on the day of our wedding. And I can't tell you one thing that didn't go as planned. It was perfect! This place gets 5 starts for such a beautiful restaurant they added to their wine tasting venue. To dine at a wine tasting is so rare to find and was recommended although I was so bummed we didn't take the recommendation. Their wines are very good and the service was amazing. When wineries offer a "menu," it's usually something to nibble on with your wine tasting. However, this winery offers a full menu to enjoy on their patio with a casual vibe which is really what anybody would want. The patio wasn't exclusive either. It was open whether you wanted to have lunch, drink a glass of wine or just do a tasting. Again, very welcoming. With a beautiful setting and perfect weather, you'll want to eat here whether you've just eaten or not. We heard their burgers are amazing and with a commercial kitchen and a chef, this place is a favorite for lunch among reviewers. They make great whites that are perfect for sitting outside but also had a great cabernet sauvignon and Mouvedre. read more

My husband and I stumbled upon Cass in early 2016, and completely fell in love with the property, the wine and their amazing staff! Not only are they great at what they do, they are all around fun-loving, friendly people that make you feel like part of the family. You have to have the tri-tip sandwich OR burger and their Mourvedre red wine is our favorite! If you want the experience of waking up, overlooking a vineyard, stay at their guest house which is an adorable 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom place for a reasonable cost. We got married at Cass at the end of Sept. 2016 and the overall experience working with their team from start to finish was above and beyond our expectations. Michelle, Christina, Chef Jacob and the rest of their team are so talented and made everything come together perfectly for our group of 50 guests. Ohhhh we had great experiences with this restaurant! The first day we arrived just shy of closing and asked them for take-out of their pulled BBQ pork sandwich and side salad. Everything was beautifully wrapped and boxed, and we enjoyed the terrific meal in the comfort of our vrbo rental. The following day our party of seven returned for lunch, enjoying crab cake salads, BLAST sandwiches and several other items. Terrific food!!
