This salon has a reputation for saying what you want is unachievable and charging hefty prices. Do better. -- I had been eyeing this salon for years since I lived in San Jose 8 years ago. I followed every stylist from this salon on IG and dreamt of one day getting for the ethereal results the photos on IG boasted. I finally made the jump to go in February 2026 despite having moved to San Bruno atp. I absolutely regret it. I wasn't going to make a review but it's gotten so bad (orange, white & yellow in diff places) within 2 months. After multiple conversations with friends (and some professional hair stylists), I learned I was swindled here, especially given the high price this unscrupulous salon charges. At the start of the session, Thao let me know the price was $600 which I was ok with to secure a dreamy result I've seen for so many years of IG following. She also told me we would be there for SIX hours. I felt shocked since I've never experienced that with hair highlighting before but I reasoned to myself that was how they achieved those beautiful results online. Once Thao said my inspo photo (low lights) from her very own IG wasn't possible, I simply wanted a cooler brown, as long as it isn't warm toned w/ grey coverage. She had me sign a waiver contract that results aren't guaranteed. Red flag #1. After 2.5 hours with the bleach foils in, I get an emergency work call. I panic because it has never happened before. I'm stress sweating so I ask Thao if I could leave for an hour with the foils in. I didn't care if I showed up to the work emergency like that. She said no because the bleach would burn through my hair so she quickly started removing them. After she washes my hair with the iciest water I've ever been washed in at a professional salon, (she must've seen me shivering or in pain because she said "cold is better for your hair" unprompted)... Then she starts mixing the next step and I ask "is my hair ready??" And she said it was ready to which I asked "are you sure???" to double confirm because that didn't make sense since we were only roughly 2 hour 45 minutes into my appointment. Worried about the end result, I tell her I can come back in an hour or less. She says that I just wouldn't get styled. And I say "why, if I can I come back for that." She responds that she wouldn't be there anymore which also didn't make sense because it would only be 4 hours into the supposed 6 hour appointment she said it would be. Then I get a call that a coworker will cover the emergency so I let Thao know expeditiously. I was so relieved. Then she started toning my hair anyway! It was like she checked out of the job because she had someone else finish blow drying my hair. Thao barely curled my hair. My sister asked "why didn't they style your hair afterwards?" when I called her crying on FT. I think Thao could tell I was unhappy because I was totally quiet when she started saying "see it looks so good." She didn't even sound convinced herself tbh. I was out the door in THREE hours exactly with over $600 out of my pocket and an ugly result. Other stylists I've asked about this unhappy situation, said she should have started over with the foils and continued her work. Instead Thao decided to earn her $600+ in half the time SHE set at my hair's expense. I regret driving so far for such terrible service and results. She still had the audacity to say she saved me the cost of covering greys (when she missed the roots of the grey spot at my right forehead) by not charging the extra ~$200 for it. See the photo evidence. I'm not just a disgruntled client who is being unreasonable. My hair turned out terrible: a demarcation of two different colors visible, warm toned, missed an entire grey root spot, dry and damaged! My best friend who is a nurse and isn't a professional hair stylist fixed my hair 2 months after my visit to this salon. I was ecstatic with the result my best friend achieved so I'm not a difficult person to please. P.S. Pls don't bother getting the K18 spray they offer before the service. That entire bottle costs professional hair stylists roughly $98 and she sprayed it max 3-4 times on my hair for an extra $50! So I paid for half the bottle and it barely even touched my hair. My hair didn't get mildly damp, still dry! That's scammy behavior. Explains why my hair still came out damaged. The steep prices don't match the quality of customer service. Like another reviewer said, it's a total gamble with your hair here. Either you hit the jackpot or you're the unlucky client who gets shoo'ed away unhappy. Maybe they don't know how to handle non Asian hair? Based on the Yelp owner responses seen here, the owner Kacie will prob respond to blame my work emergency to justify her employee's lack of moral principles.
