Lily is an angel to me. I first came to Lily 12 years ago when she was first starting out. I never forgot how amazing she was and she has become so popular! She's easy to talk to, honest and hard working. She's very skilled at what she does. Quite simply, she's the best. I have always thought of coming back as I've tried several hairstylists. Most recently, my other hairstylist did highlights and I'm not sure what happened but it came out too light and very streaky. I knew just who to go to fix this. It's been over a year since I got my hair done with Lily, and I still can't believe I spent $700.00 for a cut and color, for someone instead of fixing my hair, making it look worse. When I got there, after my encounter with her ( she very rude ) I showed her a photo of what I wanted she said that's a lowlight and I said yes thats what I want. I was going to leave initially because she was arguing with me that she can't do a lowlight. Then when I was leaving she said you should just trust me I will do your hair as to where it will look like you have lowlights. I took her word for it as I drove over an hour and a half from where I live because she has a lot of followers and does classes on hair I thought she wouldn't mess my hair up, but boy. I was completely wrong. After the service I messaged her to see if she could fix it and put in lowlights she said she will charge me 50 dollars for the product. After paying 700.00 to get this crap hair job and her giving me so much attitude after I'd been nothing but kind to her just left such a bad taste in my mouth. People should be aware of what they are walking into. I will never forget this experience and I wish I could get my money back along with my hair. Rosaline Hoang at Elysian is without a doubt the worst hairstylist I've dealt with. She brassed out my hair with excessive bleaching and applied a random toner without any idea of the result. When I asked for a correction, she retaliated by carelessly soaking my shirt wet and rushing through the process with an orange toner or global color leaving my hair a reddish orange mess. People literally stop me in the streets to ask me where I got my hair done. I show her a photo, and by the end of the session, my hair looks exactly like that photo. I don't live in San Jose, so I had to find a Saturday appointment. And since the roommate is off between lunch and dinner, I wanted a morning one. I finally went on Saturday, April 21st at 10am. (Yes, I made my appointment 6 months in advance!) I'd advise leaving extra time to find parking as they have a parking lot, but there were no spaces open. I luckily found a spot on a residential street. Lily Duong (Master Colorist) - "I want it all" ($450): Wanting that whole package look? Babylights with ombré. The most amount of lift you can get in one session. Instead of doing Babylights one session and coming back for ombré. This will save you time and money. (Price determined by length and density.) Above is the description provided of the service I booked. I knew I wanted to go blonde, so I decided to just go for the whole package. When I arrived, Lily asked me what I wanted and I showed her some pix I liked of past services she has done. I told her I trust her, so whatever she thinks would look good on me and work with my hair. After that, she went to work. Four hours later, I was transformed! I'm really loving the color. The pic I'm posting makes it look more golden, but it's actually more ashy in person. Lily did email (and later texted) a few weeks prior for a $100 deposit. They don't have CC machines, so I just sent her my deposit through Venmo. Quick and easy. After the appointment, I paid the rest of the balance and tip through Venmo as well. Pricey, but so worth it! I've had other people color my hair, and they've never been able to get this amount of lift in one session. I'm so happy I finally got my hair did with this master colorist. I had to find a new Bay Area hair stylist since I haven't gone to a salon since pre-covid. I was so lucky to find Aizley (The a is silent like in aisle). I booked an appointment with her online like a month in advance for a Saturday because she was pretty booked out on weekends. I came in with brassy box dyed hair with a terrible cut that I snipped myself. I explained the look I wanted "ashy streaks that pop... that really expensive salon hair that makes other girls standing in line behind me look at my hair" and I showed her some images and she gave me the exact color and cut I wanted. I really appreciated that she checked my foils multiple times and added bleach to make sure they weren't going to come out brassy. Aizley is super professional and hardworking. Although she had another client overlap my time she was very focused and made sure to check on both of us. I was at the salon from 11:45am to 7:30pm. If you have hair that doesn't lift easily, I'd recommend an early appointment. I booked for babylights but I wasn't sure what the differences between the options were until I got there in person. She gave options of $350, $450, $550 depending on what look I was going for / how light I wanted my hair / what my hair could handle. I ended up with the $550 option. The haircut was an additional $60. She was able to add in olaplex for me (this makes the bleaching take longer, but it was worth the wait because my hair feels softer). I am nervous about the toner fading fast but she said it should be ok and recommended that I buy Fanola blue shampoo from salonguys, not Amazon (and to use it for up to 30 minutes after normal shampoo). 100% worth my time and money. My boyfriend's sister recommended Lily to me but she was fully booked and referred me to Aizley. The very first time I went I was there all day lol. I think I got baby lights the first appt and a ton of color correction due partly to my own fault and my previous colorist. Aizley did a super great job getting the band of orange out as much as she could and toned it dark enough to cover it. In all honesty, my hair was really fried from previous bleach sessions done elsewhere. There was really bad banding from when I colored my roots with 40vol lol. I promised I'd never do it again. I wasn't happy with how dark my hair was from the first appt but I also knew it was my fault. Aizley did amazing work to correct my mistake haha. Months later I came back for my follow up appt with Aizley and this time I got the "I want it all" and again my hair is fried already BUT I totally was able to get the gray ashy blonde I really wanted! My hair was already color-treated so I had concerns about damaging my hair if I colored it again. I've gotten two sessions done with NT and will continue to book appointments with her! I did an "I want it all" package for my first session to lighten my whole head. It was almost 6 months grown out, with natural black hair near the ends. NT was able to bring me to a light blonde in just one session! My hair is thin and naturally black, but does lift fairly easily. More recently, I finished a "babylights and root melt" session with NT to bring the blonde higher and re-tone. This brought me to an ashy blonde, some parts almost white blonde. I will attach a photo from after the 2nd session. There will be damage done to your hair because of the bleaching process, but from all the times I've bleached, my hair barely feels damaged just one month after the appointment. NT is without a doubt a hair goddess. She is literal magic sent down from the heavens to bless the poor brassy haired plebeians of northern California, myself included. As you can see in the photos, NT set out to help blend the varying levels of blonde in my long Filipino hair in a single day. I booked an "I want it all" appointment with the Olaplex add-on and spend roughly nine hours in her chair, as her single client. Let me tell you. I have THICK AF hair. I'm no stranger to colorists and hair gurus exasperatedly telling me that my hair is wildly thick. Yes, dear. I am well aware. NT stuck it out like a champ. Not only did she blend my entire head into a beautiful light silver/lilac tinted hue, but she also did a wondrous job with the root melt. She was super sweet, hilarious and attentive throughout. Trust me, nine hours is brutal when you don't adore your colorist. Luckily for me, NT is a pro. The photos I attached show the before, after, and the 2+ weeks post-coloring where you can clearly see how wonderfully CONSISTENT my blonde now looks. NT is a true hair wizard. My happiness was doubled when I came in to a separate salon in the east bay (not Lily's) for a standard keratin treatment, and the hair stylist ooo-ed and aaahh-ed over my dye job. She even called over her colleague to come over and admire my blonde. I think it can be a rarity to see such an evenly toned Asian blonde, especially when you're not in the south bay. NT is an angel!!!!!!!! Scheduled my first appt yesterday and I've never been so satisfied with my hair like I am now. I honestly didn't even have to tell her what I wanted...she just knew. She mentioned that my hair wouldn't look perfect at first (it was orange...yes orange) but that she would do the best she could to get all that brass out. AND SHE DID! Omg I feel like a new person!!!!! She's super nice and makes sure you're comfortable..offered snacks and water. I also noticed that EVERYONE there is extremely helpful and super involved.
