I ordered my "as usual pepperoni and sausage" I'm along with a 6 inch steak sandwich which I like with cheese, pizza sauce, pickle, and onion. The steak sandwich was delicious and I would put that above the pizza when ordering. I know that Joe's is a hometown, staple for this area and many love it, however I did like the crust and the Italian sausage was very good. The sauce wasn't as good as I had hoped, and if I had my preference for Dayton style pizzas I would take Marion's or Cassano's any day over this. Pricing was good on the restaurant was clean, including the restrooms. I will go back and give it another try but as my first time here, I was not impressed with the pizza from what I was expecting.

The white pizza we thought would be bland but was exploding with flavor! We both didn't expect to like it so much. The vodka roni was incredible! Perfect spice to pepperoni to ricotta balance! I think they forgot the basil on it but was still amazing! How I found out about this place is a funny story. I went to st Francis apizza in Cincinnati and the owner there recommended red bird to us. We love their pizza so we had to make the drive to where they recommended and boy were we glad we did! The crust in our opinion was the star of the show here. The toppings were amazing sauce too. But the crust is possibly the best crust I've ever had. Save room for cookies! They're worth it!! Will be back soon!!

Maybe just, "Sorry, it's a bit over cooked." Or "Eat the middle, and we will discount the price." But nothing. So we ate around the charred areas. The ambiance isn't why you go, it's the great food! I say that because there are only 3 tables inside that can seat 4 or 5 people maximum. And it's not fancy looking. But the pizza was excellent. My adult daughter declared it was the best pizza she'd had in a couple of decades. And she's a picky eater. We all enjoyed the pizza. A especially nice touch is that they have a bulletin board where people have pre-paid for meals for people who can't afford to eat. If you are in that situation, you walk in, choose a receipt, and take it to the counter to get your free meal. It obviously hadn't been abused, as there were at least a dozen pre-paid receipts there. We really liked that community service aspect. But the only reason I'm writing this review (after the fact; sorry I didn't get photos) is that the pizza was great and the cost was also great. The cheese had stellar pull, we had to try to scoop 3 times to put the slice on the plates. The marinara is a garlicy variety, so we liked that. Garlic gnotd were fluffy moist on the inside and nicely baked on the outside. The staff was all so nice! We definitely will be adding them to our regular choice board for our family!
