I ordered mushroom ravioli (vegetarian) tasted like seafood and was swimming in an inch of liquid butter. They took it back and brought me veal marsala, the sauce tasted like strong alcohol and the pasta was hard. Both meals were terrible. Great atmosphere, fast friendly staff and very accommodating. Jasper has a wide range of cuisines but with in each the selection is limited. For Italian food this place does very well. The pasta was fresh and there was an overall freshness to all the ingredients. I definitely recommend Cassio's if you are in Jasper. I am adding a small edit to this review. Nothing in the above changed but it did write it prior to getting the bill. My wife and I each ordered a pasta dish priced the same. Our son who is very picky about food had spaghetti tossed with butter, no sauce no meat just plain. The result was that all 3 of our orders came to the same price. It was just a little disappointing to pay the same for a simple bowl of pasta. We did order something not on the menu so I have no issue paying but I feel the extra level of customer service would be to have offered a modified price. The bruschetta was good and the we liked the Calamari (though the Calamari came with the dipping sauce already on, which I would have preferred on the side). After a long day of work, me and three others were seriously craving some Italian food, so decided to check out Cassio's. The atmosphere is great, with very nice décor, but be aware that there is a bit of an enforced dress code. No hats and no sleeveless shirts, but that is not to be unexpected for a more upscale establishment. This place definitely seemed authentically Italian...right down to the tell-it-like-it-is, no-BS manager. She is a little snarky but fair, and definitely has a passion for what she does. There was also a moment that we figured out we could save a bit of $$$ on our wine selection if we got a half liter, rather than each getting a glass of the same variety, which is something that should have been pointed out to us by our server. I'm not sure if it was an oversight, or just trying to make the extra few bucks. Food was great, atmosphere great, wine fantastic, and my Tiramisu dessert was TO DIE FOR. Bad first impression after getting seated. The hostess was quite rude about asking to remove your hat inside the restaurant. We were waiting outside for a few minutes and I never seen any notification of these "rules" of no headwear. It's strange as most of us had t-shirts and shorts on so obviously there's no dress code. Very rude! We walked in to be met with a sign at the front door "no sleeveless shirts for men allowed". My husband was wearing a sleeveless shirt as it was summer and 32 degrees outside. So when the hostess saw us she walked right past us, but not quick enough that we couldn't ask if the sign was serious. Her response "only gentlemen can eat here". How she could possibly gauge how much of a gentlemen my husband is based on his shirt is a mystery to me!! We come to Jasper each year for a week and we will NEVER eat here!!!! We had spent the whole day driving from lake Louise to jasper and found this wonderful Italian restaurant. We arrived just ahead of a large tour group and service was still fantastic. They suggested a great red wine to try and the alfredo pasta and carbonara pasta were both delicious. If we were to come back to jasper we'd definitely eat here again. read more

This was one was fav restaurants and I came back here three years later and am so disappointed. Our sever was so disinterested and indifferent towards us right from the very beginning. We even told her that we are here back after three years and she had absolutely no response like welcome back or anything.. Next my husband asked if the appetizer could be made as an entree (the pear and Gorgonzola flatbread))her only response was "this is the standard size" and if we want we can order anything else! No suggestions at all..our entrees were pretty good but then when we ordered the dessert and coffee both were bad..my husband sent his coffee back saying it was weak our waitress did not even bother to offer to make another one or ask if we wanted anything else instead of that.. my dessert was literally dumped in a bowl and it was a soggy mess... Lastly our bill took forever to come and we ended up paying at the counter..overall a VERY disappointing experience.. They picture themselves to be a fine dining restaurant right from the dress code but neither the service nor the food presentation lives up to the standards.. read more

After a long day of skating and skiing, we were really craving the comforts of a carb and cheese heavy classic italian meal. Cassio's more than met our expectations. My penne arriabiata was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of spice. Portions are hearty and satisfying and the appetizer calamari I got was crispy and tender. We polished off the meal with some warm boozy drinks and even ventured downstairs to be surprised by a series of rather elaborate wildlife dioramas. Oh, and the service, 10/10. We didnt feel rushed in the slightest even though we were the last table there. Will return next season! read more

Patty was our server and we sat on the middle level by the bar side, perfect seat. The owner sat us and offered us a choice of tables. We ordered a bottle of the J Lohr Cabernet which is a delicious bottle of wine. Ordered the calamari with the olives and aioli in the side and an order of shrimp. The wine and appetizers were delivered promptly and came as requested. The calamari was delicious and abundant. Shrimp tasty as well. Too full to order entrees, we ordered some mussels and another bottle of wine. The service in this restaurant is top notch. Parmesan cheese and fresh ground pepper is offered with everything. Our server Patty was polite, informed and attentive. You could tell the staff here know what they're doing and they do it well. The kitchen as well, food was very delicious. If we're ever back in Jasper, we'll be back for sure! read more

Worst service we ever experienced. The hostess wasn't around to seat us, so a waitress eventually showed us to a table without much chat. We sat down and didn't see a single wait staff come our way for 20 minutes, not even for water or drinks. I should note that the restaurant was hardly filled to even half capacity. By t he looks of this restaurant you would think the food would be outstanding but it was very disappointing . Not only was the food awful and tasteless , but the tiramisu tasted like something from a grocery store , no way was it authentic. The veal in the Cannelloni was grey in colour so we were unable to eat , afraid of food poisoning . The only reason I gave them a two star was because the wine was good. I was in Jasper with my family and we had an urge for Italian. So we went here and we're surprised how empty the resteraunt was first of all. The server we had was very new and spoke broken English but did alright for the most part. The drinks took a while but the appetizers finally came and they were amazing. We had the bruschetta (bread was REALLY crisp though), calamari (to die for) and the stuffed ports bello mushrooms (amazing). We were really looking forward to our meals and when they came - we were so disappointed. All 3 dishes were bland. I mean BLAND. Plain pasta and a can of Tomato sauce. We waited 20-minutes for our server to come by and we told her we were disappointed. She said "oh I'm sorry" and just took the plates away. Get this - she did NOTHING. Brought us the bill and didn't even discount anything. We were fully prepared to pay the bill in full but wanted to let the manager know of the meals and service. The manager was the worst part of the whole experience. She brings us back the recipt (removed all 3 dinner plates which was really kind and what we were not asking for) but rudely told us to tell her next time if the food was not to our liking. We let her know that we told the server and she snootily stated "well you didn't tell me!!" Bad experience. If you go - just get a lot of appetizers to share.
