Finally! Someone got it right! It was my birthday and I noted as such on my reservation. My server actually acknowledged that! She was a very good, and smart, server. She was very friendly, and she knew to suggest the most expensive cocktails on the drink menu. She also gave us a free jalapeño cheddar bread, which was very nice. Their kids menu is the most fanciest I've seen, with filet mignon and salmon offerings. Wow! My son got the filet mignon and it was super plain and basic. That was a bit disappointing. The charcuterie we ordered was our favorite. I ordered the short rib and my husband ordered the lobster & shrimp bucatini. My dish looked pretty; but both dishes were very salty. They gave me a bread pudding for my birthday at the end of the meal. It was hard. I've never had bread pudding hard. Then I ate it, and discovered it was cold. Was that intentional? Is that how it's served? I didn't enjoy that. View is great. But if you're sitting outside to partake the view while the sun is still out, be prepared to have conflicting needs for the shade with the other parties.

$11 valet parking Beautiful views at night Great cocktails Plenty of food to snack on if you're not quite ready for a full sit-down meal. We got oysters, shrimp cocktail, fries, and a side of asparagus to go with our drinks. Would definitely come back.

My family came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It's been a while since we last came, and they've added a few things to modernize the venue and add things like the flower photo wall to make it more IG friendly. I like how they remodeled the courtyard/ceremony area, it feels more open and modern. They do have a newer cocktail lounge area called "The Green Room" - reminiscent of a speakeasy since the entrance door is camouflaged with the wall on the way to the restrooms. I wouldn't have known about it except for the employee going around the lobby promoting it and trying to get people in. There is no self parking option anymore and you can't just hang out on the patio by the fire pits - they've all been taken over by tables. I made reservations on OpenTable. We were seated after a short time and had a stunning view of Burbank. I love coming in the evening to watch the sunset with a cocktail in hand. I know it's supposed to be a romantic, elegant ambiance, but I wish they could turn on the lights just a little bit more, as it was so dark we could barely read our menus, luckily each table had a little lamp that we ended up passing around to try to read the menu. Or it could be that I'm just getting old and my eyes don't work anymore. Our server was Aman and he was great. Everything we ordered was delightful, with the exception of the truffle popcorn chicken. The presentation was such a surprise - so cute and in theme - with the popcorn chicken and seasoned popcorn spilling out of an iconic red and white striped popcorn box, but the amount of popcorn chicken we received was a joke. Like 6 little pieces of chicken. It looks good when it arrives, but as we dug into the box to find chicken, we discovered it's actually 90% popcorn. My whole family was shocked and was actually mad about it - I mean, we ordered chicken. Not popcorn. My husband who hardly ever mentions anything at restaurants actually flagged down Aman to complain about it. He was understanding about it and rectified the situation. Our meal started with complimentary cornbread and it was so good, we asked for another. But honestly, one of those things split with 5 people wasn't enough - it's kind of small. I really enjoyed the butterfish, flavor was great and it was not fishy at all. The steaks I'm told were ok, a bit on the dry side. All the sides were great, my favorite was My favorite thing was my cocktail! I ordered the Belle and the presentation was magical. You know how in the movie "The Beauty and the Beast" how the rose is in a glass dome? It's like that. The drink comes encased in a glass dome with smoke so you can't see inside. But as the server lifts the glass, the smoke drifts out revealing the drink with rose petals on the bottom. So pretty! And the drink is darn good too! Castaway is such a special restaurant with a spectacular atmosphere and view, outstanding service and good food, and a fabulous place for gatherings or special occasions. I just wish I lived a bit closer so I could stop by more often.

Chocolate cake with light raspberry drizzle

I had an excellent visit last night with my group for a dinner lecture. Parking is valet and $11 which kinda sucks, unlike the odyssey which is free parking which I prefer to park my own car. Walking up the Castaway restaurant is beautiful and sits atop the mountains in Burbank giving a fantastic view. The room we were in was spacious and had a back table with soda, tea, lemonade to choose from, and on the side was a small bar where you could order wine if you wanted with the meal. Staff was very attentive to us making the dining experience very lovely. We were greeted with appetizers of which i loved the mozzarella with tomato, so refreshing to whet the appetite for the meal. Salad came next and was a generous portion I couldn't finish it all! I got the salmon which arrived on a bed of mashed potato and with a carrot and green beans and I loved that the carrot was cooked perfectly and soft enough to cut through with my knife. The green beans were just ok, they did not elevate the dish in any way. However the salmon and the mashed potatoes were melt in your mouth delicious that I ate the entire thing. For dessert we got a moist chocolate cake with a light drizzle of raspberry sauce, very delicious.

We celebrated our anniversary last night and wanted to tell the staff what an amazing job they did. From start to finish we had an absolutely amazing evening. The server Fernando was informative, funny, and attentive. He made suggestions on our food as well as some beverages that were delicious. The restaurant has an elegant outdoor patio that is perfect for evenings overlooking the city. We started with the Himalayan Salt Brick Wagyu which was more of a novelty for me but a cool experience. Personally I had the New York Steak and 50/50 Mash that were prepared and seasoned perfectly. The Finest Hour (Old Fashioned) was delicious, not too sweet. We ended the night with the lava cake which was decadent and a very pleasant dessert to end the night on. Fernando made sure to celebrate our anniversary with some words and thoughts which we appreciated. Thank you Castaway for an amazing evening!

Castaway is 100% worth going to for the view alone. Absolutely gorgeous spot, especially at sunset. The vibe really carries the whole experience. Food was a little mixed for me. The surf and turf deviled eggs were kind of bland, and as someone from the South, I take deviled eggs seriously lol. Steak came out more medium well than medium rare, but still had good flavor. Lobster potatoes and crab cakes were just okay. Biggest surprise of the night was the cornbread. Easily the best thing I had. Overall, I'd still definitely recommend it. Great atmosphere, amazing views, and just a really fun LA dinner spot.

Parking was easy. Walked in and arrived ten minutes late but still got a great table outside looking out over the whole valley and could see downtown LA. Ordered brunch and drinks. Our waiter Steven was so sweet and attended to our many small requests. Classy place and very high end restuarant.

Averie H.

I came here for the Caviar Fries and that's what I got. They were Capital A Amazing and there was no shortage of caviar on these crispy babies. Also, the view and the outdoor area is ridiculous. You can see the entire span of the Valley and it's hard to believe such gorgeous views can be found in Burbank. The service at the table was great, my one little nitpick is that it was noon on a weekday and the place was pretty empty and we had a reservation and it still took over 15 mins to get our table. Wasn't a huge deal because we were just there to chill - but it's just a small thing to keep in mind if you're arriving ravenous. And if you are - high recommend the Caviar Fries!

An iconic restaurant that sits on top of the mountain in beautiful Burbank. You come for the views and the food. It's so scenic, that it's really popular for holidays or special occasions. I even had my baby shower here and rented out a ballroom. But onto the food and service. The menu changes periodically, but they are consistent in providing a large variety of dishes to choose from. You can always count on a tender steak, delicious sides, etc. The bar is fabulous as well! The service is 10 out of 10, and again the establishment is so scenic that once you go, you put it on your list for the near future. *valet parking available!

My friend & I came here for lunch and had the best time! She said it was her second time, this was my first. We loved how no one was here and even though it was overcast, the view was still beautiful! Our server was great and so was our food! We started with the calamari and got the squid in pasta and steak, so good! Their cocktails are so cute, must try!!!

Beautiful view of downtown. You can make reservations on OpenTable. Parking is valet. Food is delicious: tomahawk steak, branzino whole fish, Brussels sprouts, the 50/50 mash is a must try with an entree

Seafood Tower petite

Always great coming to Castaway. Been a customer for many many years. The new remodel and atmosphere is ver nice. Ordered the seafood towers (petite) that tower is enough for 4 people. Cesar salad was really good but the "croutons" did not have any flavor just crisp bread. Forgot our waiters name but he was awesome. Great service great food

Cinnamon rolls
Caitlin M.

The service is always so incredible here. They handled our 15 party table so perfectly. I'm so happy I caved and got the cinnamon rolls today. It arrived before any of the food and was a bit surgery to be the start of my meal, but it was so good I didn't really care. The toasted almonds really tied everything together. It was the best part of the roll in the most unexpected way. Unfortunately, their brunch burger was extremely underwhelming and the sauces didn't carry much flavor. I would order something else from the menu next time, like their steak.

Castaway Burbank Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Castaway Burbank

How much is parking?

I believe $15 valet only parking.

Is there going to be fireworks on NYE 2026 at Castaway Burbank?

You should call and ask- That sounds like an awesome idea!

Anyone able to get a no oil vegan option for brunch?

They were very accommodating for me. I am not a vegetarian; but, I do have allergies to Pork and the exoskeleton of Shrimp and Crab. Even food fried in bacon or lard will affect me. Or if a dish with shrimp or crab happens to have a shell left on…

Do they have brunch everyday or only on weekends?

They have limited menu for weekdays and bruch menu on weekends based on my experience

Does the valet take Apple Pay?

Yes, also you can Zelle or cash app for a tip.

Is it expensive?

A little- We spent 200$ 2 entrees, 2 main dishes, 1 drink and 1 desert !…

How far in advance can you make reservations for this restaurant?

I made for same day

What is the Valet/Parking fee?

$10-$15

Is it on top floor of an office building?

No, it is not

Hi do we have to pay to enter on top of the food we eat or?

It’s a restaurant so you don’t pay to enter, but valet isn’t free.

Hello good evening I was wondering if anyone knows can I bring balloons and decorations in for a birthday dinner? I would appreciate any response I tried calling the restaurant but they seem to be busy tonight!

Six of my friends had a birthday party there for me and they brought balloons and no trouble at all.

How much is Corkage fee?

Not sure about corkage fee. Call them for an answer. I've never brought my own wine to Castaway because their wine prices are pretty good.

Can you order from the dinner menu during lunch hours?

I want to say no, but they might be able to make it happen!

What's up with parking? Is there parking? Where is it located? How much is it to park? Thank you.

There is valet parking at the entrance starts at $15. There is another lot, but you must tell the valet that you want to park your own car.

Do they still have Saturday lunch buffet?

I don't think so anymore! :/

Is it dog friendly?

Yes it absolutely is!

Do they do brunch/bottomless mimosas on Friday?

I do not know

Is there a kids menu available?

There isn't really a kids menu, but the staff is always really happy to accomodate you if you have a specific need. I've found them to be really helpful and kind. But this is a very 'grown-up' place for drinks, lunch and dinner.

Are brunches still available on weekends currently?

Yes -- both Saturday and Sunday! Great bottomless mimosas! Ask fir server Kevin he is super-- tell him Martha & Richard recommended him!

Do they have tvs for football?

Yes at the bar

They do have parking behind the building which seems to fill pretty quickly if they're busy, but it's easy to find parking around the neighborhood. I am not usually in the tavern scene so I was surprised that we had to order and pay at the bar, but it wasn't a big issue. My friend and I split the kale caesar salad and the macaroni and cheese. For the table, I ordered the waffle fries after being informed by the kind waitress that that was the better choice over the pretzel (which she also said was amazing). Since the place was filling up for the final, the kitchen was a bit slow, but we barely noticed with how attentive the staff were in getting us drinks and refills. When it came to food, we were pleasantly surprised with this place and is honestly the reason I'm writing this review. The first things we got were the Beef Tallow Waffle Fries, Caesar Salad, and mac and cheese. Obviously the fries were much better, however the salad was also divine but just swimming in dressing. Back to the fries, we all were mindblown with how tavern fries could be this good and had so many flavors. Even the skinny queens in our group kept snacking on them which tells you how good these were. Mac and cheese came and it was standard and creamy but not necessarily something I'd return for. The surprising thing on top of the fries that majority of us loved was the Vegan Tomato Scampi with shrimp. It was fire and had me questioning if it was even Vegan. Would definitely return here if I find my way back to SoCal from the Bay. Great unassuming place with great food and vibes. Their bathroom as well is super clean and nice! Love this place!

Their Monday night karaoke was going on simultaneously and the sound didn't interfere with our screening at all. Echoing what everyone else has been saying - the service is SO slow. It was about 45 minutes before we were able to order our second drink and our water glasses were empty. They have so many runners bringing the drinks out but only a few servers and, from the looks of it, one bartender (on a Saturday night - what?!). The server was saying he was trying to find a manager to help out but they were nowhere to be found. Clearly management is fine with these service times since they're still making $$$. The drinks were delicious, and I loved that there were heaters on the patio (though they did get very hot at times). Our server was so kind and brought us a celebratory drink. I do wish there were more explanations with the beverages, especially for the Paid Vacation as most people will not realize you're supposed to bite into the buzz button for the tingly sensation. I would come back, but need some time for my wallet to recover first, haha!

As a bar owner and person that's been to thousands of bars I understand the rules and requirements of checking id before entering or being served. I don't have a problem showing my id for the door person to check. On this recent night not only did I have to show my id ( which is the law) I had to give my id to door person to scan, scan really scanned. I'm 58 years old. What about me says do a deep dive on this guy's id. Pretty sure every person in the bar could guess I'm over 21, 31,41,51 and a few might guess 61. How insulting. How incredibly insulting to every regular over the age of 35. As regular customer for over a decade at least I feel like I've earned the respect and the courtesy of not having my id violated as a regular and a person that qualifies for senior discounts. I guess ownership is determined to ruin tiki no just like they did with the firefly and the powerhouse. In my humble opinion the tiki no ownership would be better served trying to create demand for new customers and not just being demanding of longtime friends and customers of tiki no. Maybe they should hire a monkey to stand out front to attract more customers. Everyone loves a monkey. Maybe the GM could do it. The one thing the only thing I now like about tiki no are the people that work there and worked there in the past. Hats for hiring well, even a blind squirrel finds a nut. - Broken Compass Tiki…read more My girlfriend and I absolutely loved Broken Compass Tiki. I originally found it on TikTok, followed up with a few YouTube videos, and knew I had to check it out the next time we were in Burbank. It completely lived up to the hype. Parking can be a little challenging since it's in Burbank, but we got lucky and found a street parking spot nearby. If you don't get as lucky, driving around the block or into the surrounding neighborhood should eventually turn something up. We arrived about 20 minutes after they opened, and there were already several people inside. By the time we left, the place was filling up quickly, so it's definitely a popular spot. I surprised my girlfriend by keeping the destination a secret and just telling her we were going somewhere fun with a unique theme. She loved it. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. Both the bartender and our server were incredibly welcoming. Our server asked whether it was our first visit and took the time to ask what kinds of drinks we normally enjoy before making recommendations. I really appreciated that he wasn't just trying to upsell us. Instead, he explained why he thought certain cocktails were better choices based on our preferences, and every recommendation ended up being spot on. As you'd expect from a tiki bar, the cocktail menu is heavily rum-focused, but there are also non-alcoholic drinks, a small beer selection, and wine available if rum isn't your thing. I ordered the Zombie Magic first, which was delicious and definitely packed a punch. After that, I tried the 100 Year Cigar, a Scotch-based cocktail that was perfect for slowly sipping. Both drinks were fantastic. My girlfriend ordered the Painkiller and the Navy Grog, and she loved both of them. We started with the Shut It Polly wings, crispy chicken wings tossed in a spicy Thai peanut sauce, and they were outstanding. We also ordered the Aloha Dippers with the Cajun seasoning. I paired mine with the Chipotle Citrus Aioli, while my girlfriend chose the Firecracker sauce. Both dipping sauces were excellent and complemented the fries really well. For our entrées, I ordered the Pub Burger with Irish cheddar, onion strings, and horseradish aioli, cooked to order. It was excellent. My girlfriend ordered the Shrimp & Lobster Roll, and we both enjoyed it. The only item that didn't quite meet our expectations was the macaroni salad that came with our meals. We've had some incredible macaroni salad at Hawaiian restaurants, and this one just didn't quite compare. It certainly wasn't bad, but it was the one part of the meal that didn't stand out. One thing that really impressed me was how accommodating the staff was regarding my raw fruit allergy. I explained what I could and couldn't safely eat or drink, and our server took it seriously. He made sure every cocktail recommendation was safe for me without sacrificing flavor or experience. That level of attention made me feel comfortable ordering drinks I otherwise might have avoided. The décor is also worth mentioning. The pirate-themed exterior transitions into a fun pirate-and-tiki atmosphere inside that really adds to the experience without feeling overdone. Overall, this place exceeded our expectations. The drinks were strong and creative, the food was excellent, the service was some of the best we've had in a long time, and the atmosphere was a blast. There are still plenty of cocktails on the menu that I'd like to try, so we'll definitely be back the next time we're in Burbank.

You couldn't escape the theme anyway and I loved it! We were gathering for a friends birthday and there was 30 of us. Couldn't believe we found enough seats for us in the back area but we did. The staff was there to keep drinks flowing and keep food coming. The portion for their poke nachos was unreal. Do i wish they put a bit more poke on the dish? Yes. But it was still one of my favorite dishes of the night. The drinks were all so cute and they had ample non alcoholic mocktails as well which were yummy. If you want a speakeasy feel (you lieterally go through a secret door in the wall) and an under the sea eperience while ctching up with friends, you can totally do it here. For my friends birthday they rang some bell and all sang happy birthday to her which was so cool. Why was the bathroom the coolest part? Everyone was helping us out even finding us chairs and clearing tables so we could make room for more food.

The Snug really lives up to its name by being a small, cozy and friendly Irish bar. Some might…read moreclassify it as a "dive," but that would be unfair -- it's a local place, sure, and totally no frills... but I counted more than 50 bottles of Call and Top Shelf Irish Whiskies, plus just as many bottles of Bourbon, Scotch, American and Japanese Whiskies, and a quartet of Pappy Van Winkle... this ain't no dive. Still, the drink prices are very fair. Barkeep Elizabeth was friendly from the get-go, and checked on me repeatedly to make sure I had what I needed. The digital jukebox was playing lively tunes, and the daytime crowd was laidback and chatty. There's no food in this pub, but packaged snacks (chips, nuts, etc.) are readily available, and I'm told you can bring in anything you like to eat. Fantastic!! Despite being on the "road to nowhere corridor" (Magnolia Blvd. between Hollywood Way and Cahuenga), and being incredibly easy to drive past, The Snug is a welcoming little bar with a genial crowd that's very much worth keeping your eyes and GPS peeled to find. You'll be as glad as I am that you did.
