What a horrible waitress experience. The whole place seems to be very unorganized and they seem to have plenty of staff. I will never go back! Ordered take out. They bring food to us as if we're eating in. The waitress forgot to put half the order in. We ask where it is. She said she forgot to put it in. Why doesn't anyone write anything down She tells us later they don't have reubens. It's on their on line menu. I didn't just make that up. She couldn't have told me that when I ordered it. It was a most unpleasant and annoying experience. Everyone crowding everybody. Yuk. No wonder covid is on the rise in Bay City. Had their walleye to go last Friday. It was very good. Presented well in "to go" containers. Nice portion. AND you can get a tossed salad - no coleslaw! Clam chowder was thin but had a nice flavor. Ordered a wet burrito and a Gouda burger last night. No sour cream with the burrito. The burger was just that - totally left out the tavern fries. Have eaten here lots of times, and the food was always really good. Prices are very fair and I've never personally had any problem with the service. It's a cool bar, that caters to all sorts of people; they have a bike night every week in the summer, docking for boats that want to stop in, and easily accessible for snowmobiles in the winter. read more

Love the atmosphere, the beer & the servers. The food however has really gone downhill in the last six months. Fish, pizza & burgers (which had always been very good & reliable) have been recent fails. This is a hit and miss restaurant. It is unique because it is one of the very few establishments that offer a dock for boaters and it is a place for snowmobilers. So if your into that, that is a major plus. They also have a bike night every week during the summer. It is also very cool. Don't be discouraged by that. It's pretty cool to see. I'm not a biker but it's something to see. In regard to the food, it is mediocre at best. I have eaten there about 10 times or so. They have two good sellers the walleye and the cheesy bread. I don't get the walleye because I always get ribs which are ok. Also the fish is lightly breaded. If you like a thicker or heavier breading, don't get the fish. The cheesy bread is good but greasy. I would not waste your money on the sirloin as it is about $14.00 for quite possibly the smallest steak ever cut. There is a review which discusses the wait staff. The wait staff is ok and that is it. If you are looking to be waited on hand and foot or to have the greatest waiter or waitress don't go there. The service is just not good. I don't really care about that though. As long as I get my food hot, and my drink is filled im good at this restaurant. Bottom line, it's not a bad place to eat or drink. Looks like a great place. Lots of vehicles in the lot. Should have gotten scared at the "please seat yourself" sign just inside the door. Our waitress was polite and on top of refills. She let us know when we ordered that the kitchen was way behind. We were fine with waiting a bit, but 45 minutes into our wait she came out and apologized and that we were probably still at least 45 minutes out on our appetizer and/or entrees. Sandwiches and salads shouldn't take that long. Great location, just disorganized. Luckily Kelsey K was very friendly, understanding, and open to tell us what was going on. Used to be nice decent quality place like 10 years ago but it has continually declined over the years. Food quality is terrible. Way over priced. Really don't know what people see in it. We have a group of 15-30 sometimes more that go out weekly, we graduated together 45 years ago. One of the classmates thinks this is a great place but then again he thinks 5 guys is a high end steak house. Needless to say highly doubtful we'll ever return. read more

Went on a weeknight when they didn't have a theme night going. Biker or Jeep night looks pretty crowded, and havent braved one of those. Location is on the river, with seating both inside and out. Outside seating overlooks the river, and docks. You can pull your boat right up and dock at the restaurant if your a boater. Atmosphere was casual, and everyone looked they were having a good time. Broad spectrum of people from all ages. My wife had the reuben, and I had the nachos. I ordered the small nachos, and it was still more than I could eat. They use real cheese, and not the fake liquid stuff. My wife's rueben was tender, flavorful and included homemade chips. I noticed a lot of people were eating pizza, and they all looked pretty good. I went there for "bike night" on Tuesday. The waitstaff were all nice and they had decent food. They had all you can eat ribs Tuesday as well so if gluttony one of your favorite sins you may wanna check this place out. read more

Bar is very hit or miss in terms of crowds. Summer time they have good crowds with bikers and boats. Definately a dinner crowd sometimes you can go there at 10pm and will be the only people there almost. Food is pretty good with huge calzones and good pizza. they have some good bands too. read more

Just walked out of castaways. Went in for a nice lunch on the patio. Sat there for 20 minutes. They were not busy. They had at least four waitresses on the patio. Not one of them stopped to give us menu. I will never go back. read more

We had 42 people there on July 20th Castaways did a wonderful job, the waiters were great, good food, we had an awesome time.

My wife and I were camping at the Rec Area for the Tall Ships Celebration and gave Castaways a try. It was very crowded and we were at a loss about wait to be seated or seat yourself. We finally just seated ourselves, which is what you are supposed to do we found out, and got ready for a long wait. 3 minutes after we sat the bartender noticed us off in a corner and came rushing over to be sure we were being taken care of. Ordered our drinks and dinner and sat back to relax. Drinks came very quickly, even though I had ordered a 'fancy' mixed drink and the food was very quick also. And GOOD! Not your typical river front bar food at all. DW ordered an olive burger but the waitress mis-heard and ordered an Island burger instead. DW LOVED it. Well prepared, very good quality meat and good 'chips' really very thinly sliced potatoes deep fried. The burger was so good she didn't even tell the server it was the wrong one till she was mostly done! We went back the next night with friends and the food was just as good and so was the service even though the boats were coming in fast. What Jay S said is on the money the calzones looked like they could feed two or three people. We'll go back again! read more

Great location. On a warm summer day the patio is the best! The waitress was too busy by herself on the patio, but she was super friendly. The food was average - the Patty Melt was good though a little bland; the BBQ ribs were fall off the bone good, but simply smeared with the BBQ sauce, instead of cooked in it. Odd. The crab/shrimp appetizer with tortilla chips was average. A little too watery, and the chips store bought. But with a margarita, we enjoyed it. You can park your boat beside the outdoor patio. Again, the location is GREAT. The view really nice. I definitely recommend for a casual lunch. Don't miss the view. read more

Local bar restaurant is a great go-to on quads, jet skiis or bikes. Today we drove and had frosty beer and fresh salads. Can't go wrong.

Food was good. Our server said he was training a new server and I hope not with his bad serving. She was not friendly, couldn't hear over music. I was looking forward to having a couple drinks on our last night of vacation, but they didn't come back until we were completely through and then asked my husband if he wanted one and ignored me. Food and service were good. night Manager not so good. Had a party for 16. 15 showed up. My niece and her husband showed up a little late and were told all 16 people were here. And than just looked at them. They were very embarrassed and left. I called the next day to talk to a manager. I got the day shift manager who told me she never heard anything like that ever. She said she would leave my name and number for the night manager.....Never got a call...Big surprise..... F-U-N FUN! This is a great place to hang out with friends and the food is great! I have been there several times and the service is good, the food is really good. It's not expensive either. My wife and I went here for drinks and appetizers. We got a queso dip and wings. Both were very good. We sat at the bar and the bartender did a nice job of checking on us. We sat by where the food came out and everything that came out looked good. We are going to go back and try dinner. I saw a club style sandwich come out that was massive and looked superb. The service was decent once we could actually get someone to acknowledge us. We sat down at an empty table out on the patio - not too busy at all, plenty of seats available both inside and out - and the waitress covering the section our table was in refused to say a word to us. She continually came in and out of the restaurant cleaning up every table around us, even looking at our table multiple times, but never acknowledged our existence. It wasn't until we flagged down a waiter in another section 10 minutes later that we actually got menus and drinks. After that the service was decent, our waiter was pretty attentive the rest of the night. Food was good, what you would expect for a hometown bar on the river. Nothing outstanding but not terrible either. The two star rating is based on the service, that waitress left a bad taste in my mouth and reflects terribly on this business. As someone who waited tables for years, it's common sense that you make sure tables that are sitting idle for more than a few minutes are taken care of especially when you have time to pick up empty tables all around the two people sitting alone with nothing in front of them. read more

I'm not a huge fan of their food. I've walked out because the appetizer was so bad I didn't want the food. It's kind of expensive for the quality and quantity. The drinks aren't that great and they are expensive. I've never had a good server. They normally ignore my table once we get our food. Bike night can be fun because you get to see so many bills but it is packed and hard to get a drink. The river dock is awesome though. You can pull right up on your boat or kayak. Once again it's trying to get the good service that's an issue. read more

This place was awesome.... the new management is running it into the ground quickly. The food has gone down hill and they are now regularly out of various beers.
