I scheduled an appointment with Casteel Plumbing today for a leak that appears to be behind a wall, with a service window between 12-4 PM. Since this could potentially be a serious issue, I took time off work to be available. By 2 PM, I still had not heard anything, so I called dispatch and was told the plumber was still at another job. Around 3 PM, I received a call saying the plumber was on the way and about an hour out from Atlanta. Based on that information, I gave my dogs a sedative and put them in their kennels to prepare for the visit. Then at 4 PM -- the end of the appointment window -- I received another call stating that the plumber had "accidentally dispatched himself" and was actually still at the same job he had been on all day. I was told there were no other plumbers available and the earliest they could reschedule me was tomorrow between 12-4 PM. What disappointed me most was not just the scheduling failure, but the lack of empathy and customer service afterward. I explained that I had taken time off work and rearranged my afternoon around this appointment, and the response was essentially silence followed by a quick "sorry." I understand delays happen, especially in service industries, but communication and professionalism matter. At this point, I'm willing to wait and see how tomorrow's appointment goes before making a final judgment, but this was not a good start and definitely makes me consider using another plumbing company in the future. read more

Casteel just cancelled a service appointment that I made months ago for today. They did not bother to call, just a text message asking me to call them. The next available date is in five weeks. I have been a customer for many years but since the original owners sold the company I have seen a steady decline in their service quality. Cannot believe I am reviewing the same company as those who gave one stars. I got quotes from 5 other companies and Casteel gave me the best desgn for the best price. The install was done perfectly. I do not remember the names of those who did the install, but one of the guys just moved here from the north east, so he spoke English real good and a legitimate high school diploma, oh and his hair was cut and combed. This is the only job I have done on my house, ever, that did not end in tears for both sides. Get him to do your job. My sales guy was Matt Cole, he came up with the design. He does not seem to be from around here either, and he has a comb too. My only complaint is that Matt does not know what those red octagonal signs that have the letters S, T, O, P are for. read more

Casteel was my go-to for years, but the technician Stravon Jordan, messed that up. It's a shame that unethical employees can ruin a company's reputation. He over charged me for a job I did not authorize. The company has an inconsistent pricing model. I believe the technicians make up prices as they go. Two hours past the appointment window and after, I received a verification and tech text confirmation. I called to find out they had canceled without any notice or reason. After a little research I contacted Google Nest and they gave me a list of certified Google Nest technicians in my area. I contacted Casteel around 10pm on a Friday. They offered service that night, but I requested a next day 10-2 window. The technician contacted me around 10:30 am and, with my prompting, he walked me through the price range. Deon arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the issue. Deon took pictures underneath the house and described some potential issues with my furnace. Once the job was done, he replaced my filter. No surprise charges and the work was as described over the phone. I would recommend their services and use them again for HVAC work. read more

I don't like writing negative reviews, but it's justified. I made an appointment for a water heater issue (no hot water) for June 17 from 8 AM - 12 PM for Plumber. Casteel did not arrive until after 3 PM (I even had to call customer service to find out the status of my appointment around 1:30 PM). The technician who arrived was incorrectly dispatched (he was an HVAC technician, not a plumber). He was nice and professional and did all he could. He assessed the problem, told me he would coordinate with dispatch to order the part needed, and Casteel would have a plumber come out in a few days. Oh - and I was charged $139 (even though my email confirmation said it'd be an $89 diagnostic fee). Despite not getting it fixed, I was happy because they were going to take care of the problem in a few days. So no complaints about the worker, he was as professional as he could be but it shows how unorganized dispatch is. I called Casteel two weeks later (around July 5) to get an update (2.5 weeks since appointment) and got the voicemail of dispatch. No call back. I called back on July 11. I talked to a nice and sincere representative on customer service, and she told me she was going to email dispatch and copy their Manager, so that would be sure to get a response. Now it's July 16, still no call back. I've been without hot water for 5 weeks now. Maybe it's my fault for trusting that Casteel would live up to the reputation I see online. If Casteel was too busy to do the repair, a simple "thanks, but no thanks" would have sufficed, so I could get another company out here. read more

Our heater stopped working and Casteel were the first people to come out. The tech told us we had a bad gas valve and circuit board and that both needed to be replaced. This would cost $6,500! But he warned that this would only be a temporary fix because our whole system was bad and needed to be replaced and that it would cost $24,000!! We weren't trying to pay $24,000, but he was persistent that if we went with the quick fix option (for the bargain price of $6,500) that we would end up having to replace the whole system soon and that money would just be wasted, so it was in our best interest to just replace the whole system. So we called in some other guys. They said we had a bad gas valve, but the circuit board was fine. They also said our system was perfectly fine and had at least 7~8 years of life left in it. The gas valve cost $130, and they charged us $120 in labor, so the total price was $250. We went from $24,000 to $250. It's been a month and our heater is working great, no issues. Not only is Casteel's professional competence questionable, but they're also clearly price gouging. Buyer beware!! Steer clear of this dishonest company, and if you do call them, it's in your best interest to get a second opinion. read more

When our dryer 'died' last week, we checked our home's power panel and saw that the dedicated circuit breaker had shut off, but when we tried to switch it back into the 'on' position, the breaker 'action' seemed soft. Inside the dry were a set of set sheets. So, we did a quick search of the web for electricians that served the Loganville area and found Castell. We couldn't have been more please by the response. Geoffrey Adams came to our house and replaced the breaker. While doing this task, he felt that the main line coming into the house was very warm to the touch. My husband and I discussed this finding with him and I told him that when I used my Dyson vacuum cleaner, some of the overhead lights in our living room would flicker. Geoff said flickering is a prime 'symptom' when electric panels are outliving their usefulness and safety. So, we made the decision to make an additional appointment for him to come back and replace the whole panel. Finally, we own the house next door, and it too has/had a 26 year old panel. Since safety is very important, we made a joint appointment for Geoff and his team mate Alex to come on the same day and do each house. They were careful, polite, and stayed. until the jobs were done. The lights in each house no longer flicker and I am back to washing and drying our clothing. I am extremely impressed with the Casteel team and I am equally impressed with Lennox. I've already seen a major decrease in my utility bills. I recently purchased a ranch on a basement and from day one I knew the split HVAC system needed to be replaced. I work for a company that does large scale commercial HVAC and one thing I know is you can't cheat on the install. A good install and good equipment means longevity!!! With that being said most of the salesman from other companies wanted to use pre-existing stuff to cut cost. Also they advertised one brand but try to push a lesser brand at the same price. I'm sure you've all seen their flyers! Seth was the salesman did a great job of going over every detail and answered all my questions. Scott and Jose where the install team leaders, I felt extremely comfortable leaving my house and letting them do their job! We did NOT have a good experience with the technician, Christian, who grossly overcharged us for simply unclogging an AC drain. The company's website states that the current (April) special for such job is $119. We were charged $411 for a job that took not even 10 minutes total, and that is after Christian initially tried to charge over $730 and then "graciously" reduced the amount. The technician also employed extremely pushy sales tactics and advocated for replacing the whole system, including a furnace that is only 5-years-old. Christian went on and on about the need of a new system before even stating what the current problem was. He repeatedly insisted that we would need to go with a system that is at least $15K or more. Stay away from Casteel if you are in urgent need of an HVAC repair -- they are likely to take advantage of your situation. read more

Well we bit the bullet and got a new furnace and air conditioning. OMG is this expensive. But our system was over 35 years old. We called and within one day they were at our home. JW was our salesperson. Wow he was good. Explained everything with lots of details. Answered all our questions. We didn't have many because he was so thorough. Within 2 days the 2 man team was here to install. They were also helpful and nice. Even with my husband asking questions. All in all, I highly recommend this company. They offered to accept a post-dated check in lieu of immediate payment. They then processed the check without warning. Not only does this mean that my account is massively overdrawn, meaning fees and frustrations, this also means I currently have no money until my paycheck (which is when I post dated the check, because I knew I would have the funds then). This also means all the other bills I have coming out of that account in the meantime won't be paid. Why would you offer that option if you knew you were going to process it anyway? Or at least let me know you were going to so I could prepare in some way! This whole process has been a massive headache and I don't see ever using them again or referring them to anyone. No issue with the plumbing technician, he seemed to be a straight shooter. The phone rep provided a dispatch/trip charge quote of $89 plus a $25 gas charge. He implied the $89 would be applied to the repair cost, not in addition to. The $25 gas charge is a separate charge. I thought the $25 gas charge was unreasonable based on what gas prices currently are, but decided to go through with the dispatch anyway. The phone rep qualified my plumbing work to be a fixture in a fiberglass shower insert. Shaun arrived on-time and looked into my issue. He states the fiberglass shower will need to be cut (ok with me), but he does not do this. After our discussion, I decided not to have the plumbing work done and am out the $114. Note that I would be out this $114 either way as it was not going to be applied to the repair work anyway. read more

I called them in the morning and they had a tech out here within 2 hours because they said he was running ahead of schedule. I had a clogged toilet that I had tried to plunge and also snake myself and no luck. He told me my snake was too small and he would be able to unclog it with his snake. He was done in less then 5 minutes and didn't find anything stuck in the toilet such as a toy or something that should not have been down there. The kicker was the price...I had to pay $247!!!!!!!!!! Very expensive company to work witwill not be calling them again at those prices! Highway robbery once they are in your home. The quote I thought I was signing was for if he had to remove my toilet not snake it. Beware single moms on a budget to call someone else!! Update: they contacted me after my review was up and offered to make it right as they did see that he only in my home for a matter of minutes. I did receive a partial refund which I felt was fair. We needed another opinion on our 23 year old air conditioning systems. We have been very loyal to the company we have been using for the last 10 years but we decided to get a second opinion based on the prices and some of the things that we needed to have done. When Casteel came to our home, they told us that several things were out of code. Our other AC company never expressed or disclosed that to us. The team was very up-to-date on all that was needed to install our three AC units with high seers and very efficient units. They were able to come to our home and in one day replaced a 2 1/2 ton a 3 ton and a 3 1/2 ton unit. We had thermostats installed that monitored our humidity levels, all of the circulation, and we could also set heat and air at the same time. I guess we just didn't know what we were missing. They did have to tear out quite a bit of the old set up but they had no problem installing the proper levels that we needed to run an efficient home. We are so happy! They even gave us special HEPA filters for our air conditioners. We are beyond pleased. Thank you Casteel! We have reviews them to other family members already. read more

This company came out to my house to fix the same issue multiple times and the same issue kept happening. Hmm I should have realized that they obviously where not doing there job. The next thing was purchased a new ac unit that has now taken at least 5 installs to complete. I was scheduled for a visit today and I let they gentleman in my house. Few minutes passed and I went to check on the gentleman and he was no where to be found. Now I'm going on three months and I don't even know if my unit is installed properly or not. My AC was not cooling so I called and asked them to come check. Tech was very professional and knowledgeable. He said I had a bad capacitor but was not sure that was all that was wrong. He quoted over $400 just for the capacitor. Unit is 10 years old and I questioned spending that large amount when he indicated there could be more problems, in the range of $3000-$6000. I declined the repair and bought the part at Grainger for $23 and installed myself. While it did fix the initial problem, it was still not cooling. I fully understand paying for the technical knowledge of labor, overhead, etc. to have them do the capacitor, but $400+ for what I did for $23 and less than 10 min. seems disrepectful. Since it was still not cooling, I called another company to check the unit and they tightened a pipefitting and added less than 1 lb of freon for $150. I did not feel I would have recieved value I deserved if I had stayed with Casteel. read more

I'll start off by saying that everyone on the phone is super nice. It almost warranted a second star, but sucks-to-suck I guess. Since August, I've had them here too many times because of incompetence and lack of knowledge about how to repair systems. The story starts with an A/C system that stopped working in August 2020. A $300 repair lasted less than 24 hours and the system stopped working again. The next day a tech indicated the system was too old to fix again (leaked freon, which it didn't do until Casteel touched the system...anyway), and now I needed an new $6K A/C unit. Fine. A few days later (a Friday) and a dent in the wallet, the A/C was installed. Less than 24 hours after they leave, no cold air. A different technician comes out on a Sunday, and indicated the entire system was faulty and would need to be re-replaced...ugh. But Monday when the original installers came to re-replace the unit, they discovered it was simply a factory fitting that wasn't tight and leaked out the freon...they tightened, re-filled, and everything worked...finally...after 3 day with no A/C from a new system in Georgia! Yeah Casteel! Now comes Thanksgiving and the cold weather, and my heat isn't working (short cycling, not getting warm in the house). The next day, the Casteel tech said that during the A/C installation, the heating jets were knocked out of alignment and were no longer hitting the flame sensor. Easy fix there, but it also melted a pipe that needed repairs. My house could of burned down!! He made a temporary repair which allowed the heat to work, and a little over a week later the replacement parts were installed. Less than 12 hours later, no heat again. Another technician came and this time I'm told the problem is the flue needed "re-adjusting". But that tech isn't "trained" in repairing the metal, so ANOTHER tech needs to come out and do that. So I'm sitting 3 days now in freezing weather...house is holding at 55F using the stove and oven, but fish dying, I have health problems etc...totally sucks when you think the people you rely on to help you are as clueless as you...if not more! Short of it is, unless you have tons of time and patience to deal with techs that are very narrow in scope and lack broad skills (or any it seems at times), go ahead and call Casteel. You'll get to meet the entire team over the course of your repair! Update: I added a star. Honestly the people on the phone are very sympathetic and polite; not that it helps getting my equipment repaired, but they are nice and friendly people. Technician was great! I was able to receive an appointment the same day I called. Although I agreed on the estimate, I later found out that $250 for one ballast in one light was very pricey. I emailed and asked for a breakdown of the services. I was informed they couldn't do that. Odd! I was told that 60% was installation and 40% was labor? What about the parts? This experience would cause me not too user them again. Plus, the cost Hi! As stated above, I agreed to the estimate. But...the invoice only said ballast $219, service $39...nothing else. After speaking to other electricians bc I had the work done (Casteel said it could have been an electrical emergency due to smelling gas), I learned the quote was extremely pricey. We needed to replace our main floor HVAC system. The technician who did the original assessment, the system designer, the plumber, and the HVAC installation team were all very professional. Scheduling was easy and had constant communication when staff were on there way - everyone arrived on time. They answered all my questions and explained everything they were doing. Casteel may not be the low bid on a project but the quality of workmanship is well worth a few extra dollars.
