The price was fair and the work provided me with security. I then asked for a quote on some work I needed inside. Their receptionist/scheduler was excellent!! Their team of workers were on time....I mean even a few minutes early. They worked quietly, they were polite, considerate of my time and what I needed to do during my day and how they would organize turning off cetain rooms of electricity. They made any changes I wanted without blinking an eye. They talked with me through the whole process and explained things to me. I have not seen that kind of work ethic in years!! After attempting to contact 3 local electricians who were recommended on NextDoor, and subsequently being ignored, I found Castle Electric, Inc on Yelp. They responded within 1 hour on a Friday afternoon. Initially, we scheduled an estimate appointment, but after reviewing my service request on Monday morning, Jim sent an email estimate. We scheduled a date for service with no cancellations or issues with my time constraints. 2 electricians arrived at my home as scheduled and installed 6 new, hardwired, 10 year lithium battery CO2 and smoke detectors. We just moved into a older house that has been renovated and during the home inspection were told that the electrical panel was full. Once we moved in we noticed our lights were dimming so we wanted to make sure that there wasn't any large issues happening we were unaware of before we had some work done to our central AC. I called Castle Electric and they setup an appointment that week and spent time looking over the house and fixed a few smaller issues that they found, and thankfully there were no large ones. They resolved the dimming issue and let me know the condition of the electrical work in the house and things to look for if anything like what was happening started again. We are very pleased with our service from Castle Electric and would wholeheartedly recommend them. We called them for a variety of work on our home. We wanted to install some light fixtures. Also, we had issues with several of the outlets around the house. Because of the age of our house, we had some sloppy wiring that we wanted cleaned up. We were also interested in recessed lights for our living room and kitchen. Jimmy performed a detailed estimate and went over all of the different options. Overall, the estimate was reasonable and while we decided not to proceed with all of the work, we felt comfortable with it. When we decided to move forward with the project, we were able to schedule them quickly, even with an upcoming holiday. They were able to get all of the work done in one day. I feel like I wasted my money on a service call, all because they did not clearly articulate to me what I needed to do prior to their arrival. Pros: -Cheaper service call rate than competitors ($150 versus $175) -Online payment system is easy to use -The two electricians they sent were professional and kind Cons: -I called stating I had two issues, one of which was that I had a dimmer that only went on/off, and did not dim the lights. When the electricians arrived, they asked where the new dimmer was. I didn't know I had to go out and buy it myself- nobody told me and I'm a first-time homeowner. This absolutely should have been disclosed prior to the service call. I would have bought a new dimmer before they got there, so my time and money wasn't wasted. The electricians they sent offered to go to Home Depot for me, but it would have jacked up my time and thus, cost me a lot more money since the service call rate is by the hour, in half hour increments after the first hour. That would have been totally avoidable if the person who scheduled my appointment mentioned that they don't supply parts and I would need to get my own. -The electricians gave us an 11-1 arrival window, but were still 20 minutes late. read more

I had to get a knob and tube inspection done before getting blown in insulation. I got estimates from 3 electricians and Castle Electric came in on the low end. When James P. and his helper arrived, they were very courteous and asked if we wanted them to wear masks. They agreed to wear them when we told them we had unvaccinated people living in the house. They also wore disposable shoe covers so they wouldn't track any dirt into the house. They inspected our electric panels, attic, outlets, and basement and didn't find any knob and tube wiring. Very pleased with work done by Castle Electric. We got in touch to have them install a switch for garbage disposal, wafer and under cabinet lighting in the kitchen, a new panel in the basement and to get all the basement lights on one switch. The work was done by 2 crew members (I believe it was Laku and Brian). They showed up right on time every day and worked quickly and quietly, occasionally consulting with us when necessary. There were a few small hiccups due to a lot of the structure and wiring in our house being abnormal, but they quickly found a way to work with it and get the job done. The area stayed relatively clean and they finished in 3 days as they originally proposed. They just left today and everything looks amazing and is exactly what we wanted - they installed a dimmer switch for the kitchen at last minute per our request and Laku fixed a recessed outlet that I don't think was even in the job description. We were also going to have an extra outlet installed in the basement but after mentioning to Laku, decided against it because he said it wasn't necessary and was right. I'm not an expert on standard electrician rates but I believe our quote was reasonable and it was all for a job well done. Highly recommend and will go to them for future work needed. Because they have an hour minimum for a house call they asked if there was anything else they could do so we had them take care of changing out some outlets and repairing switches - all minor but annoying stuff we hadn't taken care of ourselves. As a relatively new homeowner, I did not know what to expect when hiring an electrician. I had numerous issues that needed to be dealt with. The scheduling was easy. The 2 person team arrived a few minutes earlier than the arrival time-frame and after a walk through of everything that needed to be done, I was told everything that they would be doing. They immediately got to work quickly but carefully. They made sure to ask me exactly what I would like every step of the way. They completely cleaned up after they were done in less than 3 hours. I believe that Castle Electric could be a great electrical contractor...unfortunately it is not. The owner treated me in an unprofessional and unethical manner. The son, Jim Junior was much worse...demanding that I make unnecessary repairs and threatening to get the building inspector involved to shut the power off to my home, as a way of winning the arguement. I will never hire this company again, and if you decide to hire them...verify anything and everything that they say...Have them put it in writing...and verify it. They will minimize your concerns and try to sell you on a whole new job that will cost you big bucks. It was actually the electrical inspector in the town that warned me about Castle Electric. I found them through Yelp for a electrical panel upgrade and new 220V line to basement for a single fam home. They had the best quote out if 3 in terms if price and amount of time the job would take. Lots of communication through app, e-mail and text messages (something I like). Job was performed according to schedule and all work was of excellent quality. Very good cleanup too. They pulled a permit at the town for me (no additional costs except permit cost) and they scheduled the visit of the town inspector to close the permit. Billing also though email. We had recently had Castle Electric rewire our very old house in Worcester, MA - we had a lot of knob and tube that we wanted to get rid of and a lot of ugly fixtures to replace. We also needed to upgrade our service and had a new panel put in. Our house presented a lot of challenges - old crumbly plaster walls and ceilings and almost no access to the walls via the attic. They had to snake 3 floors of wiring, add at least a dozen outlets and replace 7 fixtures. They worked for two weeks straight and even came back because one of our fixtures was back ordered. They also were able to install an exterior light that we thought of adding during the job and they made it happen. I also really appreciated that they do email correspondence. They were great with providing the documentation I needed to apply for a rebate as part of the MassSave program. Lisa, the head electrician on the crew that worked at my house, was very respectful of our property, including being attentive to the concerns we had about our cats! We also came home to a clean house every night, despite the fact that it was being ripped apart every day.
