What an absolute delight. I agree w/others reviews. Super clean; wonderful and helpful staff; many fun things to choose from in the merchandise dept., great selection and the grocery aspect of this station is not like any other station I have ever been to. The shop is stocked with goods made locally in SLO County. You can tell the store is thoughtfully thought out- from the display of the goods to the available items. There's things for everyone- the foodie, the plant lovers, the souvenir searchers, the four legged (doggy & kitty) lovers, the home and yard decorators, the clothes lovers, etc. The store isn't always open, but go into the pizza restaurant next door and ask when it'll be open. Friday was a beautiful day to be at the seaside and to walk along that sidewalks of Cambria and admire the quaint and captivating stores. Now that Highway One is open again, Cambria is seeing a lot more traffic up and down the coast, which translates into a lot more traffic in town. Home Arts was no exception. We were greeted right away by the friendly owner, which always makes for pleasant browsing. The store had a delightful display of new merchandise with a light buoyant feeling. A lot of the merchandise is a beautiful turquoise or blue which would look perfect in a seaside cottage or just remind you of a seaside cottage when you take it back to the city with you. I loved the classical wood mirror surrounded by ceramic "wallflowers". The beautiful stained glass boxes and glass jellyfish dangling from the ceiling also drew my attention. I never fail to find a unique and impressive gift whenever I go there. My husband and I also collect Arts and Crafts tiles, and I was happy to see a whole flock of dragonfly tiles on disply. The store is showing more local artists lately so there's a lot of local talent on display as well as beautifully made furniture and paintings. One of the best features about this store is that the prices are very reasonable for such fine artisan craftsmanship.

We did not see the no food and drink signs and my husband brought in an empty metal cup. We were told as the woman walked past us and not to our faces, her back turned to us the whole time, to put it at the front but my husband wanted to hold onto it just to not forget it and my husband even indicated it was empty. The woman then proceeded to loudly talk about us with another worker as we were also the only ones in the store. She said "they can probably hear me talking about them" and said it was rude and she didn't like rude people. We promptly put back the merchandise we had been holding to buy and left the store, she was also singly loudly a song about thieves and jokers and singing get out. Yes we did not see the signs walking into the shop as there is a lot going on in terms of signs at the front of the door so a kind warning letting us know drinks and food are not allowed would have been sufficient. She did not have to talk loudly about us trying to embarrass us to the other worker. This is not even kind or customer care at all. If you would liked to be talked down to and treated poorly this is your shop. Not that it should matter, but I am also a visibly Muslim woman and she was very peachy to other Caucasian customers prior to our entering the store.
