My cats have been patients of the Clinic for over eight years now. Dr. Gawley is 100% a cat vet. Although her bedside manner sometimes is abrasive, she is more knowledgeable about cat issues than many other vets I've used. My husband formerly taught veterinary nursing, and in general approves of her knowledge. Our only issue with Dr. Gawley has been over dental treatments. We had an older cat adopted from a shelter who had mangled his teeth trying to escape from the rescue cage. Dr. Gawley pulled all of his teeth, saying that they were "unbalanced" if she had left the intact teeth. We fed the cat soft food after that, and he did not seem to be adversely effected by the treatment. We are still taking our cat to Dr. Gawley, although my husband usually takes her. The office chaos seems to depend upon how many vets there are present; I haven't had an issue when they are not busy. I have taken my cat to Seattle Veterinary Specialists in Kirkland for emergent care, but after an hour my cat had not seen a vet, but they had provided a breakdown of how much it would cost me for various treatments. The only examination was a vet's assistant relaying questions to and from the vet in some other part of the clinic. I left without paying for their "service" and returned to Dr. Gawley, who was able to see her promptly without doing a credit check. read more

We got a 10 year old cat from the shelter and after 2-3 weeks he got a cold. At the first clinic they just sent us home with antibiotics. Symptoms got a lot worse and our cat developed diarrhea. Due to a recommendation we switched to this clinic. They really took good care and kept him hospitalized for two days since he was in a bad shape at this point. When I called in during that time they offered to keep him a little longer at no additional charge since they thought it'd be best for him. Our cat's health improved a lot. They also gave him some meds to better handle antibiotics. They also took quite some time to explain in detail what the issue was. This proofed to me that they really care about the cat's health. I can't understand reviews stating they would rip off people or be unorganized. We're glad our cat is better and that we found a great vet. read more

I have taken 3 generations of cats to Dr. Gawley- as I have lived in Bothell for 30 years. She is one of the most talented, caring, intelligent and intuitive medical doctors I have ever had the good fortune of knowing. She has a quirky personality- which I have come to appreciate, enjoy and trust. She will always be fair, truthful and totally invested in the welfare of your cat. She will partner with you- respecting that you know more about your cat than anyone else. I did some research on a B vitamin that was shown to restore nerves that had been damaged. She ordered it for me. When it worked for Tarzan she tried it on other patients with diabetes nerve damage. She has brought my cats back from the brink of death. I would not trust anyone else with their care. Everyone needs a doctor like Dr. Gawley. read more

This place has changed. When Dr. Paschal was there she was an amazing vet and she cared a lot about our kitties. Dr. Galway is another matter. She hates purebreds, we only have one purebred and three rescues, but it didn't matter she still hated him and us. She was so mean and said that we shouldn't even have him (These are our babies, and she made my wife cry). She didn't care about listening to us and hearing out our baby's problems, she just judged him and sent us on our way. And now that our prescription is up she wouldn't renew it so we need to find another vet. She is truly a horrible person and until they get a new vet I wouldn't bother with this shithole. read more

I have taken my ageing cat in twice to see Dr. Gawley and she has both times immediately diagnosed his problem. She is extremely detailed in her explanations and cares deeply about finding and solving problems. She is extremely busy, but still saw my cat immediately to determine if his problem was urgent, and I really appreciated that. I have a hard time affording vet bills and I look for opportunities to save on care and do it myself, and she obliges so I'm not her most lucrative client, but have never felt that my cat was short changed. read more

I cannot even award one star for the incompetence and the lack of empathy exhibited by the doctor Gawley in this office! My cat had to endure increasing unnecessary procedures on her initial minor injuries that led ultimately to an infection that apparently the doctor inflicted. I was then told to take my cat elsewhere, after being charged ridiculous sums of money without clear justification. Stay away from this clinic! read more

I LOVE this clinic, Dr Gawley is an incredible vet. Her knowledge, intuition and wisdom with cats are incredible and I will go to this clinic for as long as possible. The only reason that I am not giving this 5 stars is because their receptionists are consistently grumpy, snippy and often have trouble with basic communication. Every other member of the staff has been pleasant to us (humans) and patient with our often anxious cats (even when they peed everywhere). read more

Dr. Gawley is wonderful. Although she isn't always the best "people person", I don't care because I know she really cares about my cats and does whatever she can for them. You can always ask questions if you want details and she's happy to answer them. I also do cat rescue & have brought her some very special cases. One involved a feral kitten who's leg was caught under a fence. Another vet told me to keep giving the kitten aspirin even after about a week & the leg wasn't doing any better. Brought the kitten to Dr. Gawley, she looked at it, disappeared in the back room and came back later w/ an older book which described what she thought the issue was. She gave me some meds and within days, the kittens leg returned to normal! I was so happy! Another time she kept a kitten that I got from a hoarder. I was ready to put him down because we had tried everything & weren't able to fix his issue. Dr. Gawley asked if she could keep the kitten to see if there was something else she could try. Unfortunately she wasn't able to help him & had to put him down but she tried everything possible before making the final decision. Dr. Gawley works with a lot of rescuers so she gets lots of training from all of our special cases. :-) And, you can tell she's a cat lover because there are cats all over the place who live there because they are special needs. read more

I brought my 9 year old, stand-offish, Siamese mix in for a pre-insurance check up and shots. The Doctor was excellent with him. She obviously loves cats and works well with their temperament. I half expected my cat to hiss and or scratch and he was mellow and interested. He jumped up on the exam table after a few laps around the small room. He let her do her thing and all was well. The vet set the mood for him and he obliged. Also, I thought she was very personable. I have read the reviews on here and I just don't agree with the negative ones. But I am sorry for your loss. read more

My fiance brought our new kitten into this clinic, without me because I had to work. He said the appointment went well but that our cat would need mouth surgery. I requested that the vet call me to discuss the surgery. The vet called me and didn't really take the time to explain why my cat needed surgery, it seemed she was most interested in getting me into the vet for the surgery so she could make money. I told her that I wanted to get some more opinions and call the place I had adopted the cat from so that I could see if they would pay for it ( I adopted her from Meow only a week before). The vet said that wasn't a good idea because it was likely that my cat could have developed the gum disease within the one week I had her for ( Very Unlikely, if not impossible). The vet was not compassionate at all and talked to me like I was stupid. A week or so later we received a bill in the mail for something she had given my fiance for free!!! My fiance called the vet and stated that he was given the flea solution for free, so why were they now sending him a bill. The receptionist assured him they would remove the charges. A week goes by and I received a hand written letter from the vet saying that we needed to pay for the item she had given my fiance ( flea spray and the bill was for $35.00). I was so upset that I was told the charges would be removed, typically you pay at the time of service at a vets office yet she didn't charge him anything until we decided not to have the surgery. I called the office again and the receptionist apologized and assured me she would call me back once she spoke to the vet about these charges. A week goes by and no call back, I called the vet AGAIN and said I never received a call about the charges, the receptionist stated she had given the message to the vet and it was in the vets hands to call me back. I have worked in the medical field and the least the receptionist could have done was call me back and let me know what was going on. This place is ONLY interested in making money and that is apparent. I felt I was being pressured into getting a surgery for my cat without anything being explained to me, I also felt that they are billing me for items I was 1) Told I would not be billed for and 2) Told the charges would be removed. This has turned out to be a giant waste of time and a disappointment to me and my family. read more

I have only been working at the Cat Clinic since November 2010 and I only work part time but I could not have found a better place to work. I have been a cat person all my life and have been to numerous vets and I can tell you first hand that Dr Gawley and Dr Kallenborn are the BEST! If there is any way possible that a cat can be saved, these doctors are the ones who will do it. All of the employees there are extreme cat lovers and it definitely shows. read more

My beloved cat, Lily, has been going to Dr. Gawley for over six years and has had two successful operations there as well as regular visits. Dr. Gawley has always been so kind and caring with her. Two weeks ago I had to make an appointment to have Lily put to sleep. I was dreading the process but, even though it was extremely hard for me to say goodbye to my furry friend of almost 19 years, Dr. Gawley made it a peaceful experience for both of us. Yesterday I picked up her ashes housed in a beautiful small jar along with paw prints. All were marked with Lily's name. When it is time to get another furry friend, I will certainly go back to Dr. Gawley as I know that my new cat will be treated well. read more

DO NOT USE THIS VET! My first check up went fine and the vet recommended teeth cleaning to take care of some of the tarter build up. They discovered they needed to pull a tooth while cleaning. Two days later I was at the emergency clinic because during surgery they POKED A HOLE IN HER THROAT when putting in or removing the air tube! So air leaked in under her skin and it felt like a cross between bubble wrap and jello when i pet her and sounded like tissue paper. They never warned me this was a risk. They were careless and could have killed her had it reached her lungs. I was lucky. Also spent $600 between the surgery and the emergency clinic. Your cat may not be so lucky. I will never go back to this vet. Or recommend it to anyone. read more

I brought my cat for dental clinic and when I went to pick her up they told me that she passed away. Neither Dr Good nor Dr. Gawley could tell me exactly what went wrong. They are very unprofessional and careless about the little beings that they have in their hands. I love this clinic. Yes, there is sometimes a disorganized atmosphere, but what do you expect when dealing with cats, several people in at once and phones ringing off the hook? They rescue old and disabled cats that would have been abandoned by anyone else. They have always had rescues up for adoption when I have been in. The atmosphere is filled with love for cats, and that is what I want in a vet. I started going there 3 years ago, when my old vet in Mountlake Terrace retired and I was not happy with his replacement. I went to the Cat Clinic with a five month old free-roaming kitten that I just adopted and who was near death. He had to stay at the Clinic for several days, during which I was welcome to come and sit with him for as long as I wanted while he recovered, which he did and has been healthy ever since. They have cared for my two other cats and I have an appointment for a fourth - all rescues and, I promise, this is the last. ;) Dr. Gawley is the most knowledgeable vet that I have ever taken a cat to (which has been about 40 years now) and she obviously cares very much about cats. She is very thorough and answers any questions patiently and understandably. Her bedside manner with people can be brisk and abrupt at times, but she couldn't be better with my cats - and that is what I want in a vet. And once she figures out that you care as much about cats as she does, she warms up dramatically. read more

I took my cat to see Dr. Gawley after months of visiting other vets at another animal hospital who could not figure out what was wrong with my 9 year old male cat. Cat Clinic at Canyon Park was recommended to me by a friend who had a similar experience - knowing something was wrong with their cat, but no vet they took him to could diagnose him properly. My friend said that Dr. Gawley is House (the TV character) for cats. I was told she might have a brusque bedside manner with humans, but her diagnostic skills with cats are out of this world. My friend was absolutely correct. I took my kitty to see her and we were there for a long time as Dr. G did a physical exam, asked a lot of detailed questions, did some research, asked more questions, did more research, and eventually suggested that my kitty had Cushing's Disease. I thought there was no way he could have this illness - it's rare for cats to get it and it typically occurs in female cats, not males. We did a blood test and it turned out that she was right. Dr. Gawley broke this potentially fatal news to me gently - no abrasiveness at all - and she gave me as much information as she could find to help me make the best treatment decision for my furry baby. Ultimately I elected for surgery, and that was performed two months ago by SVS in downtown Seattle. After surgery she e-mailed me periodically to check on his recovery, and I'm so happy to say that my kitty is recovering very well. We aren't quite out of the woods just yet; he has to undergo some more blood testing to make sure his hormone levels have evened out. Dr. Gawley helped save my furry baby's life. I will only take him to see her from now on. read more

If I could put a minus star, I would. Over the years my son's cat has gone there for minor care. Recently when I took her in I was sure she had a urinary tract infection. In fact I told them that because she was treated for it before. Aside form the fact it took almost a full week to get the results, they said she was stressed and gave me some meds. to give her to calm her down. I'm not a vet, all I know about cats is they meow and eat food. With that said I knew it was not a stress issue for my cat, she has it better than most humans. I then took my cat across the street to Canyon Park Vet. Hospital. Not only did they confirm my son's cat have a UTI, I was charged almost half of what Cat Clinic did. So I decided to call Cat Clinic and see about getting a least half of the money I paid them for nothing back. This is were it gets weird, or should I say unprofessional. First of all they blamed the test company they send their lab work to, in Arizona. Arizona? Are you kinding me? Then I had to deal with the two half wits that answer the phone. My calls were never returned about the status of my possible refund. When I called back to inform them that my cat's records had been faxed over twice from the vet across the street, the lady said they did not get them then laughed stating, " our fax machine is a little wokie." What is wokie? And why is this place still opened? Never again. Not even for a can of cat food. read more

Dr. Gawley is absolutely brilliant. Our cat was diagnosed with small cell lymphoma. The prognosis was not good - maybe 2 months. Dr. Gawley was awesome - she recommended a great oncologist and immediately installed a feeding tube to help our cat gain desperately needed weight. Her tube feeding recipe was full of vitamins and enzymes and even impressed the oncologist as the best he'd ever seen. And it worked - our cat gained enough pounds to be able to start chemo treatments. It was a little hard on him at first, but Dr. Gawley suggested giving him a smaller dose twice a week instead of one large dose once a week. Perfect solution. He was eating on his own, happy, playful, and could usually be found lying on his back in the middle of the living room floor. They gave us two months; Dr. Gawley helped us get two more years with him - two more happy years. I can't tell you how grateful I am to her for everything. No one knows cats like she does. I have to say that I had a similar situation with my cat Kackey. He quit eating and lost alot of weight. I took him in because I was worried about him, and they got me in right after I called. Of course, I knew he was older so it would not be as easy to recover from something serious. Anyway, they kept him for the day and performed tests and turns out he also had terminal pancreatic cancer. The staff at the Cat Clinic were amazing. Of course I was devastated when I got the news, but they helped me through this tough time and explained to me what was going on and what would happen. They went out of their way to make this terribly sad situation as painless as possible. Anyway, we had him put down three days later. :-( I would not ever even think about taking my cat(s) anywhere but the Cat Clinic in Canyon Park. The staff is experienced, caring, and most of all, there for you. Not to mention the extremely reasonable fees. You would be crazy not to at least try this place. read more
