The desserts are scrumptious. We had the fresh baked sugar & chocolate cookies. The carrot cake was moist & sooo good. For our lunch, both the tuna melt & the Miami (Scotty's favorite) were huge & flavorful. Get the coleslaw as a side, you won't regret it. The place was busy and I can see why. Here's a great breakfast/brunch spot. We stopped in for brunch today and we all enjoyed what we had. I had the Miamian or turkey Ruben. It came on rye with sautéed red onions, 1000 island and a pile of great sliced turkey. Yum! Others had the Schmoozer (corned beef and Latkas) a regular Reuben. It was all great! The owner Gina and her daughter Adrianna came out to talk to us and check if everything was good. Best of all the prices were affordable. I visited Scotty's just before COVID blew up in our faces and it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. It's nothing fancy, nothing pretentious, just perfect. My friend and I went on a Friday afternoon and this place was legitimately packed. Despite that, we were seated within a few minutes. The service here is top notch, so much so that we felt like we were simply eating at our own family's dining table. There was no doubt we were going to be taken care of, and well. On top of the impeccable service, the food was delicious too. I ordered some chocolate chip pancakes, potatoes, sausage, and eggs. My friend ordered the blueberry french toast. All were cooked and seasoned very well, and portion sizes were generous. The standout to me was definitely the pancakes. They were gigantic, thick, yet fluffy. I was slightly confused why there was an orange slice on every dish, but that really didn't detract from the food. I was honestly surprised at the quality of food given the very fair prices. The decor is beautifully simple. Just how you would expect a diner to look, but more organized and clean. Scotty's was our last stop in town before continuing on to the rest of our trip. I picked it not realizing it was across the street from Block's, where I'd been two days prior. Everyone at Scotty's is so friendly. No less than three people apologized that there wasn't a table immediately available when we arrived. We couldn't have waited more than five minutes in all. During our meal we were warmly checked on by two people I assume are the owners. I ordered the tuna melt and husband the roast beef melt. The tuna melt was really good, the marbled rye the true star. Husband was a little hung over from the wedding the night before and said their food was exactly what he needed. Our server accidentally dropped two bowls of soup off at our table. The soup looks homemade with care. Overall, staff is incredibly warm and friendly, it's no doubt part of the reason this place is so popular. The food is pretty fantastic too. A few regulars and new folks as Gina (Scotty's lovely Italian wife) was busy greeting everyone, including myself. She told me a little about the place and the food. "Nothing out of a can," she said, "fresh challah bread made in house..." As she continued, I just fell in love with the smells and the pride she had for her food. I've adopted Gina as my aunt. It appears from overhearing other's conversations, she has a lot of adopted nieces and nephews. I ordered Gina's big breakfast. Must have the french toast made from the challah bread. OH, my, melt in your mouth, so flavorful and amazing french toast like no one I have ever experienced. My mouth is watering just reminiscing about it. The scrambled eggs were perfect, the home fried potatoes were crispy on the outside and cooked to perfection. The sausage patties were flavorful and I could taste the love in every bite. My coffee stayed full and I was repeatedly looked after by the staff. I felt like I was home. Travelling constantly, its memories and experiences like this that make it all the worth while. Gina insisted I meet Scotty. What a great guy. I shared my praise to both of them and they just beamed with pride and humility. I pray I get to return to Columbus at least one more time in the future. It's worth a flight at your own expense just to eat there. I finally made it to this amazing place. Arrived just before 11 and was greeted and seated immediately. We were offered drinks while we looked over the menu. We decided on the renowned French toast the schmoozer, and the cheese blintzes. We were brought a small carafe of water since that was our drink of choice for the meal. It was nice so we didn't have to bother the server when we needed more. Our food came in good time and was as amazing as expected. The French toast is ravable. Large well cooked and well flavored slices of bread with a side or syrup. The cheese blintzes were fantastic as well. 3 well filled crepes with a side of sour cream and fruit spread. So good. The potato pancakes were thick and again well cooked. Nice and crisp on the outside I only had a bite but would definitely not be able to eat a whole amount. The corned beef looked great and my compain said it was. As others have said, we were brought 2 great chocolate chip cookies for dessert. I left feeling like a member of the family and overstuffed with wonderful food. I cannot wait to go back. If only they were open more than just breakfast & lunch Monday-Friday!! read more

The first time was great. The 2nd time, I tried the French toast with blueberries. It was served with syrup and it was barely warm and dry.

Not a terribly large store front but a big personality that you will want to visit again! Scotty comes out to meet and greet his customers, many of whom he knows by name and gives hugs to his regulars. He makes it so that you want to be one of his crowd. And he wants you to be there too and for you to feel welcome. He chatted with us several times, knowing that we were new to his restaurant and wanted to make sure that we were comfortable and taken care of. He even placed our order for us with the server. So you can see it was a great atmosphere with equally pleasant food. Large portions at reasonable prices. We had read that the French toast was the best thing on the menu, and my wife would have to agree. Thankfully Scotty suggested that she get the full order so that she could share some with me! Fresh Challah bread that they make is the key to their sandwiches, which they of course also use for the French toast. We don't live in Columbus but fly out of the airport here regularly. We will be sure to stop here whenever we can before or after our trips. You should, too. read more
