Friendly and professional, very helpful staff and eye doctor. Everyone working there had a big smile which was refreshing and delightfu.

Dr. Sarah Curtiss is the best. I think I might be the worst person at taking eye exams because I overthink them, and it took four visits for us to figure out what my first contact prescription would be, but I was only charged the contact exam and fitting fee the first time. Plus I got to try a few different sample boxes first so I never felt ripped off like I have at other places. Dr. Curtiss really seems to care about getting it right and making you happy, and she's a very sweet person. We need more doctors like her, who treat you like a human and not a number to get through. The rest of the staff is nice too, I think it might be all women (at least that I've seen) which is pretty rad. I didn't try on or buy glasses here so I can't speak to that part but they do seem to have a nice selection and I like the warm wood ambiance instead of the stark white clinic feeling get at some other places. Only advice I'd give is to not arrive too early and don't bring a friend. There's only two small chairs to wait in by the door and it doesn't really feel set up to be a waiting area. But that's a small thing. Two other pros for me: they accept Care Credit, and they follow up with text messages that you can actually respond to. Like many of my generation I can't always get myself to call them, but they were easy to talk to via text as a follow-up. read more

I requested an appointment for a contact lens eye exam. I was told I needed to have been seen in the past 3 months by an eye doctor in order to make an appointment here. Luckily I had at Americas Best, who had given me the wrong prescription, and why I was trying Cathedral. I had kept all the paperwork they had given me and emailed it to Cathedral (attached photo). This was still not enough to make an appointment at Cathedral Eye Care! They then asked for the Doctors Notes of the wrong eye exam in order to schedule an eye exam at Cathedral for me. I was not given copies of the Doctors Notes, and so they refused to book an appointment for me! I promptly took my business elsewhere. read more

After a dealing with an eye issue for over a week the current treatment recommended wasn't enough, I was in desperate need of something more. After a Zoomcare visit they wanted me to see a specialist due to the infection not getting any better. I walked into the office looking to see when they might have an appointment available for either the same day or early the next morning. After finding they had an open spot the next day at 12:15 that didn't work with my schedule at home as my Wife had an appointment on the phone during the same time frame and I needed to be home with the kids. The manager was concerned about my Eye and said she would ask the Doctor if she thought they could get me in the same day. Dr. Curtiss said she could see me in the next 15 minutes after getting done with her patient she was just seeing. All of the staff were so helpful and willing to do whatever they could to help me. The manager also got me some relieve drops which helped immediately with the irritation I was dealing with. Dr. Curtiss got me some eye drops with antibiotics and a steroid that has significantly improved my irritation and infection. I can't thank them enough! read more

They work with my boys, with there glasses and transition from a lower prescription to their actual prescription glasses. They have been there for my family since 2015 until now. Eye exam was fine. Problem is lack of transparency. It was told me my glasses would take 1 to 2 weeks to be ready. 2 weeks later I called and it was told me it would be ready the following week. I called again a week later and spoke to someone who seemed unaware of everything, she told me it would take an additional 2 weeks, making a total of 5 weeks to finally get my glasses. I would highly recommend Cathedral eye care. I got my eyes examined late last year and it went great. In late January or so I picked out my glasses and got them two weeks later. I had trouble with them fitting, they were uncomfortable. The staff there worked very hard with me to find a solution and we ended up having to get a new frame. I've been delaying getting glasses for way too long. I absolutely hate having anything done with my eyes. This place seemed too hoity-toity to me too, until I went inside and interacted with the staff. The doc made me feel at ease and was perfectly candid without being insulting. James is also the person who brings life to this place! He has energy and is excited to help, as well as he is very aware of personalities and preferences. It doesn't get much better than this! Hesitant about booking my first ever general eye exam, a good friend recommended Dr. Chewerda. Every single staff member made me feel happy and welcome. Even with my appointment being toward the end of their office hours, they took plenty if time with my examination, and did not make me feel rushed to leave. Andrea offered great care at the start of my exam, and Dr. Sarah Chewerda really weighed in on all of the issues I have been experiencing. Between those 2 ladies my appointment was a solid hour, none of that time spent waiting for the doctor to show up. It's hard to find office that operate as smoothly as CEC does...I can't wait to go back and pick up my glasses! P.S. the gentleman who helped me at check out was great! Best Eye Care Experience I've Ever Had! My wife picked out this clinic and scheduled appointments for us. The team was fantastic, and a ton of fun! Dr. Chewerda was great to both of us, and I'm really impressed with the quality of the equipment--it's brand new! My wife is a bit skittish around ANY doctor, but Dr. Chewerda really made her feel comfortable and explained what she was doing every step of the way. Jessica and Joel (and another co-worker) were very helpful in picking out sweet frames, and they all definitely kept it fun. We had a great time here, and I'm actually looking forward to next year's eye exam. The team also did some digging into my insurance coverage, and despite me not having true "vision" insurance, they found that my health insurance actually offered a discount on our glasses. I just went to Cathedral Eye care for the first time. It was a very pleasant experience from check in through to billing. I was able to enter my new patient information online in advance so didn't waste time on that. I had zero wait to see the doctor once I was checked in. Dr. Chewerda performed an eye exam and listened to what I wanted changed in my current prescription. I am experience near vision deterioration and she suggested a prescription that appears to work well as a balance between my near and far vision. She did a really good job of explaining what is going on with my eyes as I reach middle age. Once done with the exam and my questions, i talked with staff member David who helped me find a pair of glasses that I like. Overall, the experience was excellent. I love Dr. Cewdera's office; from the moment I stepped inside, I was treated with absolute kindness. This was my first time having an eye exam and prescription, so the process was very new to me. That being said, the technician guided me along the process with patience, which was very relieving. I wasn't expecting much. I picked the location because it was close and looked decently legit. I was really surprised by how nice and competent the staff was. No insurance surprises. They talked me though an extra test that was option, exactly what it would cost and suggested that it probably wasn't worth the extra fee but was completely up to me. The only time I felt a bit pressured was at the very end when I said I was going to order my frames online and didn't need help looking for frames in the store. I'm guessing this is a big source of revenue for them, so I can understand the drive to sell customers here but they were still understanding and didn't pressure me too much. Overall great care. When I found out that Dr. Chewerda changed practices, I didn't hesitate to follow her over to Cathedral Eye Care. She has all the qualities you want in a physician and really spends the time to understand your needs and explore options for improving your vision. You don't find that very often anymore. The practice is staffed by young, super cool people who also happen to be excellent customer service providers -- responsive, respectful and personable. The ONLY thing that made me shudder a bit was the very pricey eyeglass frames, which turns a neccesity into a luxury that I couldn't afford. Happily, I was able to use the frames I already had, and the turnaround time was less than a day once the lenses came in. I highly recommend Cathedral Eye Care, particularly if you live in this neck of the woods. read more

The receptionist tried to bully me in to doing a procedure I said I was uncomfortable with and was trying to explain why said procedure was causing me distress. All she did was uh uh uh uh uh yea "Well we can not see if you do not do it". I choose to go to places that value me as part of my health care team. I have beed a birth worker for 14 years and have helped hundreds of people navigate their health care and being told what you have to do medically by a non-medical person Is not ok. The Dr should have called me based on my note and talked to me if they really felt like I was not making the "right" choice not a rude receptionist. THIS IS CALLED GOOD BUSINESS. If you are trying to set up shop in a small area like St Johns you need to have excellent customer service. I am sure the doctors are fantastic as St Johns is awesome but if the front desk treats you like a child who can not manage your own health care why even waist your time? We have so many options to consider specially since I would have been paying out if my pocket for my self and my kid likely for the next 20 years. Plus I was trying to establish care with a Dr in my neighborhood and wanted to meet her before agreeing to anything more extensive as I have very complicated eyes. read more

They have an eye for the spotting the perfect frame for your face and the glass of wine they give you to browse doesn't hurt!
