This place is racist. My man and I came and waited from 10:50 am until 11:30 am. We called the phone listed on the business hours posting, which states the hours of 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. There was a voicemail that provided another number. We then placed a call to that number and got the voicemail message. We tried to send a text asking at which time the establishment would open since they had yet to open it at the time posted. FINALLY the owners arrive, they walk up, and they have stopped at McDonald's. They have food and iced coffee. They walk up and DO NOT speak to us. They literally ignore us and open up their business. I walk inside. The business owner John asks, "How may I help you?" I told him the services my man and I were interested in. The owner then states, "The only thing is we have an appointment." I then ask if him and his wife are the only two ppl that would be working? He said "yeah it's just us." I then ask this man."So what are you suggesting with letting us know that you have an appointment?" I ask. Are you suggesting something? He then states; "yeah come back later." I say ookaay, what time later? This racist pig ask "are you sure you will come back?" I had to ask him why would I not come back? We have been waiting outside since 10:50 am. Man, this man ends up lying, saying this is an "appointment only" business. I have pictures attached where this business says they welcome walk-ins. I leave and tell my man what happened. He brings to my attention that there is a sign that states, "Walk-ins are welcome." We started looking at alternate places. I go back inside and attempt to throw away some trash in a trash can inside the business instead of just throwing trash on the ground. This man refused to throw my trash away inside of their business.
Positives: The prices are good. Overall they do a very good job and T is very good at nail art. I've liked this place but realized I'm hanging on by a thread just because they're so cheap. Negatives: The vibes are OFF. They are not friendly. It always feels awkward, like maybe they've been fighting or something. I always ask for straight toe nails and they still trim the corners, I have an ingrown toenail and this just makes it worse, as they should know. They don't use the AC in the summer. Massage chairs are totally broken Dealbreaker: Those things are forgivable but I can no longer ignore how FILTHY this place is. It is not sanitary. Period. Check out the photos. I had a cut on my foot so I was hyper aware this time. They use the same pumice stone ON EVERYONE'S FEET. After they use it in yours, they rinse it in the water that YOUR FEET ARE IN. A pumice stone is porous and cannot be sterilized. That is, if they even tried to. And I know they did not sterilize it from the person before me. Keep that crusty old thing away from me. The brush they use on it to "clean" it is gross and crusty too. As you can see from the other pictures, the place is covered in dust and hasn't been cleaned in ages. Unfortunately I just can't sacrifice my safety for this place anymore.
I called at the very last minute to see if they had any walk-in appointments available and Tracey was able to do a full set of Gel-X nails right away. I let her know that my nails are thin and very sensitive and she made sure to use the machine on a low setting and really took her time by being very gentle on my nails and cuticles. Her husband finished my nails by painting them and made sure to ask me if I wanted any extra coats of polish and if I was satisfied with the way he was doing my French tip. I was really impressed with how they both wanted to make sure that I was satisfied with my nails and how patient they were in the process. I also loved the way my nails turned out. I will definitely be coming back in the future.
Used to go here for about 2 years before the pandemic, then once it opened again, there was new management. I kept going back to John, I was happy with his services. Sometimes I noticed he would transfer me to his wife Tracey to finish the nails. I would always go around 5pm. Usually, I was the last customer. One day, I was the last customer, John was still working on another client's nails, and told me to start with his wife. Tracey seemed to be done, and was sitting, looking at her phone. She may have been bothered that she was asked? Not sure. Anyway, she grabbed the drill and started taking off the color. Right away, I noticed she was going really fast and kept talking and looking out the window. She's running through my fingers, just flicking through them. Next thing I know, I am feeling sharp pain and see there's a bunch of blood coming out of my finger. She literally took a piece of my flesh off. She then proceeded to stop the blood immediately with this tiny green bottle, apologized many times and kept going. At that point, a couple minutes later, John asked me to switch back to him and kept saying my finger was ok and it was fine, it was an accident. Of course it was an accident. I don't think she woke up that day and decided to take off a client's flesh off. BUT the reason it was an accident was because she may have been bothered she was asked when she was clearly done for the day? Because it's the end of the day, and she wants to go home? I.DON'T.KNOW. & it doesn't matter the reason. Point is, this should have never happened. Don't schedule someone, and don't agree to help if you're not going to do it wholeheartedly. In my almost 20 years of getting nails done and being near drills, this has never happened to me. It took everything of me not to create a huge scene. Also not sure if I should have paid? Or paid full price? Regardless, I did & they didn't hesitate to take the money. This review is late, but decided I should warn others. It's been a little more than a year & obviously won't go back. It's too bad because I liked John's attention to deal but really disliked that he would transfer me every once in a while and every time Tracey didn't seem too content about it.
It's my first time coming here after going to the same nail shop for about 10 years. The main reason I left was because the girl who did my pedis left and I had to follow her here. She has the most tender hands with your feet and knows how to take out ingrown nails (mine don't get bad, but the corners start to hurt within 3-4 weeks). I had a gel mani and pedi done. I brought my boyfriend who also gets a pedicure. I'm so happy with how everything turned out. The guy who did my manicure took his time and made sure to get every cuticle and left my hands looking beautiful. The whole experience was very relaxing and I love that they actually took their time, not rushed through the process like other places who are just pumping customers in and out of their salon. They are by appointment only for the time being, which is honestly better IMO. I texted the number they have listed on their Instagram to make my appointment 2 days before. I will be coming back here from now on! P.s. it helps that they have a nice clean bathroom ..

They always get me right always always never ever a bad day and they're super sweet I love that they're beautifully done and affordable they always eat up the nail sets I've asked and never once done me wrong I highly recommend coming here the service is amazing and so peaceful read more

As someone that has been getting acrylic fancy nails for over two decades, this is THE BEST PLACE EVER!!! It is a family owned business which I think we all honor the most. John and Tracy are husband and wife. When I tell you that they are both beyond creative and talented, it doesn't begin to describe the level that they are on. They are good enough to complete in those fancy nail art design competitions. They use the best products out there and because of that, my acrylics last a month most of the time with no lifting or breakage whatsoever. They are two of the kindest people to ever work in customer service. They treat their clients like royalty and because of that, they've developed a clientele list that will last and stand the test of time. It is beautiful and exceptionally clean and hygienic in there. This level of care and professionalism is very hard to come by. Please check them out. I will add a picture, but keep in mind I'm not the most fancy.... They have a client for life in me and the countless people I have referred to them. read more

I was lucky to have Gary work on my short nails. He prefers to work with longer nails as there is more room for designs. I loved his work. He did thr perfect shape if you have longer nails you have more options read more

I give it three star for the service but the mani I got ?? I can't say it was pretty Yes I know my nails were short that visit but I always get my nails done with them being short and I just feel like the lady did it fast or she didn't clean my cuticles properly. Just didn't like my nails at the end I took them off 8 days later read more

I was looking for a really good place to get my nails done since the last several salons were not up to par with me with service and how my nails looked quality wise, then I came to Cathy's nail salon and I have to say that i am beyond happy with my nails. The two couple (husband and wife) Tracy and John are very good and we're very attentive and caring to how I wanted my nails done. I can really say I found a place and two really good people to get my nails done. To Tracy and John, thank you so so very much!!!!! I gave a five star rating not just the service but also how amazing my nails came out to be. luv these two. read more

I am giving this place 1 star. Upon arrival I showed them a picture of what I wanted done. They said "no problem we can do that" ... no they couldn't. Once I saw the gentleman couldn't do what we had agreed upon, I said "forget it" and made it easier for him. 4 days after getting my nails done here 2 broke off. And today a 3rd has broken off. The first 2 broke off folding laundry and the 3rd opening a bag of cheese, it's not like I'm over here moving houses. 100% unacceptable, I will not be returning.. read more

Drop by today for a pedicure and notice this salon is under new ownership. The place look a lot better. They have lots of new nails design. The owner T worked on my pedicure & it was the best pedicure I ever had. She took her time & was really gentle. Got a callus treatment & she really removed everything. My feet was so happy afterwards. I changed my mind on the color and she didn't mind at all to help me select other color. I love this place and for sure will be back whenever I visit my in-law. Excellent service! I got acrylic french tip nails and the design looks exactly like the picture I showed. I have been looking for a nail salon in northridge that was affordable & worth it & my wish came true! I was helped by the 2 most nicest and sweetest ladies there. They took their time to really give me a new beautiful set of acrylics. I'm in love with the color i chose she asked me for my opinion & did it exactly the way i wanted my nails. i will deff be back. $25 for a full set of acrylics 2 colors read more

LOVE this place! They are very nice & professional, the inside is pretty and my nails came out poppin! I got a new full set of gel nails & i asked for an initial on my ring finger she did it with her own style & added a cute lil touch of sparkles my gel set lasted about a month i was very impressed! I will definatley come pack a little pricey but so worth not dealing with the hassle of broken nails. Beautiful! read more

John and Tracey always leave my nails looking beautiful. Quality work and a friendly environment. They are taking very good precautions during this pandemic by checking your temperature, having you wash your hands, and placing dividers between them and the customers. Parking is easy to find, and appointments are followed as made. read more

How much is a fill with gel polish? How much do you charge for nail designs per finger? How much would it be to have designs on all my nails?
A fill with gel polish is $35+, and design on every fingernail is $5 and up. Total of both hand should be $50+
Do you offer any outside manicure service?
We do not offer outside manicure as a safely precaution to our clients. The chemicals we use could be flammable and can result injuries.
