Mary is incredible!!!!! My cousin was getting married on 10/28/23 and my plan all week was to get my nails done on Friday after work. Well, I had a less than desirable day at work Friday and was relieved that I was already planning to get my nails done, because my soul really needed it (ladies, you know the feeling...) I had never been to this salon before but it was less than a minute from work, so why not? I wanted to get gel mani pedi and my eyebrows waxed. They closed at 7 but took me in anyway even though it was almost 6. I warned Mary ahead of time that my nails were really damaged and to just do her best. She was extremely sweet and strategized with me on the best way to do the nails without causing too much damage (my nail tips were very weak and splitting). She ended up putting acrylic tips, dip base, and gel on top. They came out beautifully. Mary and I talked, joked, and laughed almost the whole time. When it was time for the pedicure, I met Kathy who was equally as sweet and fun to talk to. By the time the pedicure was done, it was almost 8 so I didnt mention the eyebrows and I think Mary forgot. Just as well, I felt bad enough they kept me an hour past their closing time!! But they were extremely gracious, kind, and took their time with me. They gave me their card and told me to call next time so they can wait for me. I definitely dont want to go anywhere ever again. These ladies gave me much needed laughs and me-time after having a trying day at work, and I am forever grateful for that. Oh, and somehow all this only cost $96? I have never gotten eyelash extensions, but if I ever do, I will see Kathy as her work is impressive & natural looking. I've been coming here for a few years from when I was a student to a staff member at CSUN. The nail technicians know me on a first name basis. They already know how I want my pedicure and that I prefer short & natural/nude polishes. There have been times where I messed up the polish within minutes after leaving the salon and they've been more than happy to fix it for me. FIRST VISIT!! I was worried because I know that the China glaze brand sets matte and I wanted a shiny effect but she put the shiny coat over it- love it! Neon is in because it is a hot girls summer after all hahah. But I came the day before since I saw it while I went to get boba and the student discount sign outside caught my eye. If you're a student you get a $1 off discount! I was greeted right away and asked how much a pedi was and the lady very nicely said $16 but $15 with a student discount!! She let me know to call before coming to make sure I don't wait and have someone right away. Called the next day and was told to come in an hour, got there 20 minutes early and was taken in early almost right away. I'm new to the area and it's been awhile since I got my nails done so I went to the closest one near CSUN. I came across this one and the ladies seemed very friendly. The prices were a bit pricier than what I'm use to since I reside in Pasadena but I was in desperate need for acrylics so I didn't even second guess the price I just rolled with it. Me and two other friends accompanied me and we all needed them done and the ladies took us right away. However! they kept making us change seats. I found this quite odd. I moved seats at least 3 times and one of my friends moved seats twice. The lady made me take my old nail polish off myself and that's something I'm definitely not use to. The job didn't take too long but she was kind of rough with my hands. I didn't like that at all. In conclusion the overall experience there was OK. I do like the results, and CSUN students get a discount ($2) off not bad, but the seat hopping and how rough the lady was totally annoyed me. Very few staff members, but they keep busy! I went in and took my time with the colors, eventually choosing a very dark chocolatey red in celebration of Valentine's Day. Lina did my manicure and pedicure, and was skilled and quick. I wanted to tell her that the water to dip my hands in was cold, but I didn't have the heart to tell her. Beware of the foot spa water, though! It will take some time to get adjusted to the extremely hot water! Lina, though very quick, also happened to be a bit too rushed. When putting lotion on my legs, she left a small glob on my right leg and didn't last long on the massage. They provided me with disposable sandals and a fan to dry my nails. The CSUN discount was $1 off for manicure and $1 off for pedicure, so I have it to Lina as a tip. She didn't seem grateful at all, but I understood. They all need improvement in their customer service skills, but at least they made my nails look good! read more

I have been going to The Nail Shoppe for several years and finally decided it's time to write a review. It's a no-frills place, but it's clean, the parking is easy, the prices are right, the technicians are super nice, and they do a great job. The Nail Shoppe is located in a strip mall at the corner of Reseda and Prairie, with plenty of parking. While they accept walk-ins, you may need to wait a bit if you go this route. On weekend mornings, it's pretty crowded, but on weekdays after work, it's never that bad. For walk-ins, the best time to arrive is right when they open at 9:00am; between 2:00-4:00pm; after 6:00pm. Personally, I just call them on the morning I want to get in, and they'll give me a timeslot within an hour or two. They offer spa and regular nail treatments. A regular mani/pedi combo is $25. I usually just get a regular pedicure for $15 and give them a $20 bill. The technicians are all very sweet, but a nice little tip goes a long way here. They like cash, and I believe they charge a $1 fee for using debit and credit card. The regular manicures and pedicures are great. I've never had a bad one. Each technician is receptive to directions if you want your nails shorter, longer, rounder, or more squared, etc. They don't rush you out. The facilities are simple but clean, and they always open a new packet of tools for each customer. There is also a room in the back where a super sweet technician named Kathy does waxing and eyelashes. I've gone to her for bikini waxing and have always been pleased. She seems to have a big clientele that goes to her for eyelashes - definitely make an appointment if you want that service. I've never had this done, but it looks like she does a good job. All in all, I highly recommend The Nail Shoppe. I've had my nails done by all of the technicians, and I do have a few favorites, but I'll trust my nails to any of them. I've gone to fancier places and paid higher prices, but there's no need to with this place around! read more

I recently started coming to this spot at the beginning of this year. I went in during my appointment time and apparently there was the first misunderstanding of my appointment being set up for another time, but i didn't let it bother me so i set up another time and still came in. I had to come in during my work hour so I was on my laptop working. I asked for a regular pedicure nothing extra, the lady continues to do a gel pedicure on a "spa" chair which apparently is extra. I wasn't made aware that any of this was extra or that she added gel to my nails. She proceeded to charge me $37 instead of $18!! She says she didn't want to bother me cause I was working on my laptop so she took it upon herself to complete all these add ons and charge me without me knowing. All i want is a refund for the gel which is an extra $15. They don't even want to do that. NEVER coming back. read more

DON'T try this place!!! I went to get my nails done here and thought.."how bad can it be?"Getting your nails done at this nail salon is truly a waste of money. The mani/pedi looked unprofessional, uneven, and the edges were messed up. After leaving the salon, I had air bubbles on my nails as well. I went back and instead of fixing the problem, she added another layer of polish which would not dry. I waited under the fan for half an hour but shortly after leaving the second time, got steaks all over my nails.
