Ceiling with drywall and paint torn off
    Rx P.

Catons performed antimicrobial (mold) spraying. They used duct tape on all the walls and ceiling to hang plastic curtains from ceiling to floor. I had asked them to use non-destructive blue paint tape instead. They said it would not cause problems and did it anyway. When they removed the duct tape it removed lots of paint from walls and ceiling, even taking patches of drywall from the ceiling. I asked them to repair it and they refused. They told me to claim the damage on my flood claim. I asked them exactly how I could claim ceiling and wall damage to be caused by a flood on the floor - they did not respond. To add insult, they charged me $1,500 for what should have been a $500 antimicrobial spraying. I had to repair the ceiling drywall and paint from my own wallet. Pictures available, as well as their emails. RP in Ellicott City

It did not take more than 15 minutes to fill my sink with water and tighten a p trap with his bare hands. FACTS

Saved by Ehrhardt Brothers Quality Plumbing! (West of Baltimore, a.k.a ColumbiaPlumber)…read more Sunday evening, our water felt less hot than usual. Monday, it was only as warm as we keep the house, and only as much water as there is in the pipes! Our gas water-heater failed! Bad timing, too. Last week was what Chicago calls Fools'-Spring ... around 70°. But this week was back to Second-Winter, 30° (Mar 2026). And the next warm days, which Chicago calls the "Spring-of-Deception", is still ten days away. There was water leaking from the heater. This is considered the calm before the 50-gallon tsunami. If this is home-remedy advice, First call a friend who has successfully navigated this problem. Next shut off the gas and then the pilot. Next shut off the water inlet. Your friend will have at least one plumber to recommend. (They will enjoy that...) If your garden hose isn't frozen to the spigot, drain the water tank. If frozen, spend a sleepless night with the 24/7 plumber's number on speed-dial. We chose #2.  We made it through the night. Two of our friend's recommendations were small-businesses, our preference, and we asked all three for quotes and availability. Ehrhardt was ready to offer a price based on our descriptions and photos, of course with caveats for anything unexpected. I considered their bid to be a pretty-penny, but I'll say it was less than our friend's expectation, and more than our friend in Cleveland expected. A fair price. They came the next morning, and it might have been sooner if we had called right away. We cleared a path for them through the house, and they had the water heater replaced in 90min. Impressive. We went out for St. Pat's. But what we should have done was what they told us: check the pilot light for about 30min, and test the hot water after 60 to 90min. We came home to cold water. I'll admit some grumpiness. We called in the morning, and they came back in a jiffy (our apologies to everyone else who had appointments that day). In 30min, they figured it out: a faulty pilot in the new, just-unboxed water heater. They had a replacement part over-nighted. The next morning, in 30min, done. This time we did as told: checked the pilot after 20min (and nervously, an extra time again after that). Still lit! The second time we checked, the hot water outlet was noticeable warm. By 60min, hot water from the faucets! By 90min, much to relief of nearly everyone i know, a piping hot shower. AAAAAHHH :-) Ok, so how does three visits equal 5-stars! The hardest question answered first: Because the problem was the manufacturer's fault, and Ehrhardt handled it flawlessly: Excellent communication by Ehrhardt, priority attention to our problem, no excuses, just fast resolution. Great service staff, from the office to my house. Fair price. I admit that I'm writing this in the after-glow of that hot shower. This could be the start of a beautiful situationship.

I was a prior customer of TNT. Although it was late on Friday, during a time when ALL plumbers were working non-stop on emergencies, Dan answered his phone, calmed me down, helped me turn off the water feed to the house, changed his schedule and came out to my house the following Monday morning, fixed the problems and recommended a great water damage restoration company. So, I am saying that, of course, Dan is an excellent plumber, but he is much more. When I was in trouble plumbing-wise, he dropped what he was doing on a busy day and rescued me. So, I say make him and his son and TNT your plumbers for life. Greg Lardieri

He mentioned they may only be able to do the consultation since they had another job, so from the very start I felt like we were receiving rushed service. Dan and his apprentice spent a little less than an hour knocking holes in our drywall (in one closet he just started hitting the wall with a hammer) only to make his way up to the attic to tell me we had a roof leak. As I had mentioned in my original consultation, this was in fact a vent pipe leak that I would have been happy to pay to have addressed. Instead, we went through two roof consultations before I crawled up in the attic and fixed the vent pipe myself. I tried to reach out to Dan to let him know this was actually a plumbing issue and received no response. We found TNT through one of the Yelp project requests and I deeply regret choosing them as opposed to some of our other options. Between the price paid, the lazy investigation of the pipe, and the lack of response when I reached out to have the situation rectified, I am seriously disappointed with their service.

We set up a time to meet the following day. The next day Khuma texted me when he was in route and arrived on time with his assistant, They both put on shoe coverings before entering my home. After taking a look at the heater he assured me he could check several systems to find the culprit and gave me an estimate. The work was completed in about an hour. He then showed me the various systems he had checked as well as the results. He ended up placing a new valve on the overflow system. He cleaned up the work area when he was done. He also took $50.00 off the quoted estimate and charged me $200.00. I found Khuma to be polite, and concerned. The quality of the work and the knowledge he demonstrated in the type of water heater system was impressive. He even quoted the amount to replace the entire system. I placed his name in my call list under plumbers in case I would need future help. I would definitely recommend him for anyone needing help with a plumbing issue. LB Feb, 2026

Clearly a plumber not an HVAC pro.I disputed their fee w my credit card and won. Mistake to hire a plumbing company for boiler repair. DETAILS:  Despite warning the tech water intake valve leaks profusely, he turned on water w/o protecting the electronics below (see pic). Water spilled on gas valve & into the open service panel. Look at the mucky residue left on the electronics (pic). After he left the system would not ignite again! Went all weekend w/o heat (12deg).  Worried about frozen pipes I called office Monday morn. Office manager had no compassion for what we just endured. She was defensive right away and argued with me saying their tech "did not do anything to the system so it can't be their fault." With attitude she read me the service notes which clearly state he DID two things to the system. Then she weirdly repeated that he DID nothing to the system and accused me of trying to get a free boiler. The owner also made this accusation to my daughter. This was insulting and classless. I emphasized I was just trying to get heat, and I was still willing to pay them to repair the system, even after she insulted me. The owner came out w the tech later that morning. Spent 15min and couldn't get ignition. Later that day I spoke w owner and he offered me a refund. He later rescinded the offer! We had a real HVAC company come out and they pressed the manual reset button on one of the safety sensors. And it was up and running. We had them do the repairs and clean the heat exchanger, and it's running great. Does Metcalf Plumbing not know there is a manual reset button on boilers??? That's incompetent. Or did he choose not to press it in order to upsell us on a replacement???  Btw, the $12K quote for a 90KBTU (midsized) system was the most expensive in town.

This man will hustle and break his back to earn your business and build a relationship with his customers. He takes pride in his work. I cannot recommend this place enough. On a Friday afternoon, I reached out to ~5-7 vendors to assess a broken HVAC in a DC condo. Ricardo was able to come out IMMEDIATELY at 8PM on a Friday night. He did a quick dusting of the unit which hadn't been serviced in a while and even went to the roof as a part of his diagnosis. After sticking around for a couple hours trying to find the source of the problem, I was mentally preparing myself to pay a diagnosis and service fee, but there was no such thing. What signaled to me Ricardo was top notch was the fact that this man lives in Baltimore, easily a 50-minute commute from where I was in DC. He didn't leave until I was satisfied with his work until 930PM on a FRIDAY night. This type of service is difficult if not impossible to find. Ricardo patiently explained what the problem was, why I wouldn't have working AC after he would leave, and what my options were. He was very transparent with pricing, sent over a couple of quotes, and laid out what install schedules would look like depending on which manufacturer I went with. He and his team came in Tuesday and the install lasted about 7 hours. Fully working AC in less than 2 business days at a reasonable and competitive price. You cannot beat that.
