Given the reviews I came away very disappointed. To be fair, we only had margaritas and El Ranchero queso, but we would have ordered more if those were good. Sadly, they weren't. We ordered Skinny Margarita's with Don Julio Repo and Cointreau. Specified no orange juice. We received a drink that tasted more like watered down lime juice than a marg. We couldn't even be sure there was tequila in it, let alone Cointreau. Seems like they strive to deliver a large 16oz drink rather than focus on the quality of what they serve. The El Rancho queso was a similar experience. The cheese was so thin and had no flavor. The ground beef had only a slight hint of seasoning and the pico was more onion than tomatoes and peppers. I know others like the place but they have scored so low for us, we won't return. read more

We just recently moved in the neighborhood and have nothing but great things to say about Catrina's. Food is great! Love the birria tacos but all the food is good. The staff is friendly and just nice people. It has become our taco Tuesday spot. My wife loves it as you can actually buy an individual taco as she has a small appetite. The birria is mighty tasty! We have been several times and it's never very busy, which is kinda odd since there aren't many Tex Mex choices in the area. It might be because I think the staff is a little stand off ish. I prefer servers with a fun personality that interact with the customers. It's close and we will certainly continue to go, but I wish the staff would help make it more of a fun night out. read more

We come here from time to time because it's in the hood. The birria tacos and quesadillas are excellent. It's a slow night tonight because of the weather I guess. It's usually got a pretty good crowd on Friday. Our waiter was excellent. He understood that a couple of old men don't eat too much. I had the quesabirria taco plate and my husband had it a la cart. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. We got here a bit later than usual, but there were a couple of tables used. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal and mood at this neighborhood restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and meal. If you're in the area, please give them a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

The worst "Mexican" food I've ever had. There was weird slime in my chimichanga and the Mole sauce tasted like the way industrial bathroom cleaner smells. If you have any standard for Mexican food you will be severely disappointed and slightly grossed out. If you're from Minnesota you might find this edible enough. read more

Oh my! we live in Jester. Love the owner very kind, family oriented, always comes and greets us. He wanted to show his gratitude and served us a desert after our dinner. Thank you !! We get dinner or we go just for drinks. It is a nice atmosphere (inside and patio ) when you don't want to cook and just go to chill. We recently found out they have live music on Saturday nights. Pretty good Mexican food. The dishes are aesthetically pleasant. The wait staff was great. The chip and salsa bowls were very small. We were in a group of seven so you can imagine when a bowl is placed on a table with about 12 chips in it everyone looks around and thinks surely there's going to be more. There was, it was a second small bowl with 12 chips in it. The salsa came in a thimble size container again for seven people. The salsa wasn't that good however they have a green sauce upon request that is decent The food was pretty good and again it was placed on the plate with a fancy, nice look to it. All the plates of food that our party received was good and there were no complaints other than the tortillas. The tortillas are not homemade and seem to be heated up in a microwave. I'm not sure if I would come back even though the food was good and the staff was nice and attentive. When I come to a Mexican food restaurant, I like chips and good salsa along with homemade tortillas. If you don't care for chips and salsa and don't mind store-bought tortillas this restaurant is really good because like I said, the plates came out nice looking and good tasting. But I come to a Mexican food restaurant for the whole experience, not half of it. read more

Catrina's is a winner for me on my go-to items: crispy beef taco, fajita taco and margaritas. Their margaritas are SO GOOD! Try the mango chamoy or have some fun and get a flight! When they first opened, it took a while work out kinks in ordering and serving (lots of turnover at first, I think), but we really haven't experienced any issues in months. The staff is welcoming and you feel like you can hang out for a while. If you haven't been since the summer, give it another try! read more

Well, not sure about the food yet, but the service was so slow I had to comment. The phone line was down (the 3 other people at the bar also commented on that) so could not place a to go order. Came to the bar and ordered. A few minutes later a lady came in and ordered, and a few minutes after that another couple came in and ordered. As I sat there, both the other people got there food, the lady even commented that I was there before her. All I got was I'll go check on it. Eventually my food came, but no explanation, no offer for a free queso, nothing. I get that things happen, but no check in, no explanation, nothing. Not the kind of service I'm looking for when I spend $31 on a small margarita on the rocks and a plate of enchiladas. read more

The manager was great. He really tried to make us have a good experience unfortunately it's out of his hands. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY PUT MARINARA SAUCE ON SEAFOOD ENCHILADAS! The rice has no flavor at all. It was terrible. I would have asked for a refund but it is not worth my time to drive back I just threw it away. My husband got the mole enchiladas and they were so dry. The tortillas seem store bought. I should have known because of the neighborhood we are in but, I liked the concept. Also, the kids meal is supposed to come with beans and rice and they forgot it. I paid $6.99 for one "crispy" taco that was soggy and fell apart before my daughter even touched it. I don't understand why they have to change food for people that don't like flavor. Just eat something else. If you like Mexican food this is not the place for you. read more

This place is ok. Some items (on their entirety too large of a menu) are great but a lot are inedible. The guacamole clearly comes out of a bag from the freezer. The happy hour isn't great. Worst part is that the staff seem like they only work there some of the time and mostly at other restaurants so are confused when they are there. They don't know the menu, happy hour, specials, where the restroom is, etc. It's unfortunate because we need a good restaurant in this area. I would love it if they could step it up. read more

This was my third time here but the first time they charged me for refills. We paid over $30 on three ppl who ordered sodas. My husband just checked the site and it says one free refill. NON. Also, the steak fajita was very blend and my shrimp quesadilla barely had any shrimp. The order was incomplete because she thought we only order one instead of two steak fajitas. I was disappointed. The waitresses are nice but they need more experience for sure. You can tell the boss was not there. I was hoping to have my bday here, but not anymore. They just lost a client. On each of those occasions, they charged more money than the menu says (which, for a brand new restaurant, is ridiculous), and took waaaay longer than it should take. Sure, only a dollar or two, but there's no excuse, especially when the food is not even cooked correctly. I could not finish half of my chicken chipotle because it was so overcooked. Also, the service is not good; yes, they're all nice and polite, but they look lost and forget simple requests.
