Catfish bites and a coconut margarita! Yum!
Jenn C.

Great pit stop heading to Emma Long park! Only had time for a quick appetizer and drink. The catfish bites were the BOMB! Meaty and juicy and the price was right! I added a cup of tortilla soup, too. The outside patio is great because while the restaurant is in a small strip center, the back patio makes you feel secluded. Server Dimitri was so nice and pleasant!! Thank you. We'll be back for more catfish bites for sure!!!

Great patio for dogs and kids to play. Food was just ok. It was perfect though after a long walk.

It has been more than 15 years since I last visited this Waterloo Ice House. It has been renovated since that time. There is a spacious outdoor patio with a playground for children. Inside the restaurant and bar appears to be larger. Not sure if the inside has been expanded or that I've been away so long (didn't live in Texas for 10 years). Net, net, the decor is visually appealing, spacious and comfortable. There is even a game room in the back. Dominica provided great service while at Waterloo. She was super personable and very attentive. We also served by...wait for it...a robot cart. Snappity Snap snap!!! The robot cart came to our table and then Dominica took the plates of the cart. So stinkin' cool... My friend ordered the country breakfast - eggs, sausage and biscuit. My friend ate her entire meal...she really liked it. I ordered an egg white omelet with sausage and biscuit. Important to note, the biscuits are huge. My omelet was good with lots of sausage. The cheese on top of my omelet and throughout the omelet had not fully melted. The decaf coffee was super strong taking 3 packets of half and half to smooth it out. The best part about this dining experience was Dominica's service!

Very few places have a weekday happy hour that lasts till 7 PM and this is one of those places. Anuya was busy on this particular Friday and I was all alone so I figured I should tried a new place. There is quite a bit of seating and the ambiance is cozy, this is a good place to bring young kids. There is enough beer variety to serve my needs, but the crispy fish sliders stole the show. I am sure coming back for them.

Waterloo Ice House has all the requirements of an old favorite - extensive reliable menu, plenty of seating inside and out, scenic grounds, and accommodating staff. I've been to most of the Waterloo Ice House locations, and they're all good, but this one is my favorite. It's a handy stop coming back from the lake, and even worth the drive out of town. A group of acquaintances meet here regularly, and I joined them for a birthday party. To be exact, it's a group of old men. This is where the old men hang out. But, that's not a bad thing. Old men are usually good at sifting through the bs. The Austin restaurant scene is mostly made of pretentious spots that fall short on that criteria. We were able to take over several tables in the back room near the games. The only downside was that this turned out to be pretty noisy, and hard to talk. We split some orders of fajitas and tater tots, and then brought our own cakes. The staff helped us find a lighter to light the candles. Waterloo Ice House has their business figured out, and I'll surely be back!

The food was good, we had to ask for lunch menus but it was 10am so understandable for them to still have breakfast menus out. We sat outside and it was nice, the playground is small but fun for younger children. Service was good, the music was interesting. We came on a Sunday and enjoyed it.

A great family friendly spot with something for everyone. We came on a Friday evening around 5:30 on a rainy day after picking up our son from school. Luckily the place wasn't too crowded yet and we were able to have our choice of table (by the time we left, it definitely started to get packed). We ordered the sliders (pulled pork, chicken, and fish), the burger, and a grilled cheese. Also ordered a couple HH margaritas. The sliders were all delicious and the burger hit the spot. I highly recommend upgrading to the sweet potato fries with it. To top it off, you can sub fruit with the kids meal for no surcharge and it even includes a nice hefty serving of soft serve ice cream. We will definitely come back when the weather is nicer since they have a massive play area that is even fenced in so that the kids can explore on their own.

My husband and I decided to meet up with friends at Waterloo for lunch. When we walked in the hostess was talking with one of our friends and we were seated quickly. The restaurant has different places to sit. There is a bar area, a large dining area, and a game room. They also have lots of seating outside. There is an outdoor area with a playscape and I noticed a big screen probably for entertainment purposes. We were put in the game room at a large table. The room was kind of small but it fit our group and another large group in the same space. Not long after our waiter came and greeted us and took our drink order. Our waiter was very friendly and took care of us throughout our meal. After everyone was there and had some time to look at the menu he took our food order. One thing that stood out during our lunch was the Food Robot. It came over to our area with all of the food on it. The waiter then distributed our food to us. It was something that I hadn't seen in a restaurant before. For my lunch I decided to try the Triple Decker Quesadilla which had pulled pork, tomatoes, onions, and poblano peppers, with cheese. You have the option to choose grilled chicken, ground beef, pulled pork or veggies and I chose the pulled pork. It was nice and hot. The cheese was gooey and the pulled pork and onions gave it a little flavor. I also decided to try the Egg Sandwich. It was a sandwich with two eggs cooked any style with a choice of bacon, sausage or ham. I chose two Sunny Side Up Eggs with Ham. It came with a side of Hash Browns. The sandwich was good. The bread wasn't as toasty as I like but the overall taste was good. The eggs were just as I wanted them, the ham was a decent size and you could taste the cheese. The Hash Browns were really good and flavorful. Overall it was good service in a space that has the option for indoor or outdoor dining.

Such a cute place with an AMAZING outdoor area. Family and dog friendly! The service is hit or miss, but there's definitely some amazing staff members here. The food is good and made fresh, although I don't eat carbs the biscuits smell soooooo good and everyone seems to love them. They're so fluffy and buttery. The chicken tortilla soup is one of the best I've had. Great for sports as well up at the bar and a big screen in the dining area.

It is a sports bar It has a million attractive wonderful aspects. It has a million pain in the neck aspects. Everything is a good news bad news joke. But the good news is pretty good. * * * I ran into the bad news right upon entering the restaurant. There was not a comfortable table to sit at anywhere in the restaurant except at the bar. Benches were so low that it was like being a four year old at the grown up table. I would have needed a telephone book to reach the table. Regular chairs don't face the TV so you have to crane your neck to see the sports. Comfortable curved sofa benches exist, but they are 500 miles from the TV. So I tried seat after seat after seat before ending up at the bar. The bar was okay. * * * The bar choices are ample and slim. There were surprisingly thin offerings on beer. There were WONDERFUL listings on bourbon and rye. I am a rye drinker, so I was in hog heaven. The tequila listings were pretty good too. Gin drinkers, scotch drinkers and vodka drinkers were just going to have to take what was available. The cocktail menu was about average. I was in a golden cloud of glory with all my choices. Angel's Envy Rye is first rate libation that is simultaneously fiercely peppery and sublimely smooth. Rough on the taste means usually means rough going down. This was BDSM with the grace of a feather. I was in love. * * * Chile con carne was a beautiful chili with brisket rather than the usual hamburger. Flavoring was superb. The brisket chunks were three times as big as you would comfortably want to put in your mouth all at once. You don't want to take a fork and knife to a bowlful of chili. So I was struggling to eat my meat all night while at the same time admiring the quality of the recipe. Cover 3 Kitchen Preppers: How much extra work is it really to cut your meat into manageablely sized pieces? * * * Garlic Mashed Potatoes had a picture of garlic walked in front of the potatoes while they were boiling. Garlic? What garlic? The handful of mouthfuls with butter were good. The rest was empty starch. * * * The human beings working the bar were fantastic. Two of the nicest and most helpful ladies working in the bartending trade. Good people count for a lot in a restaurant. * * * The sports televisions were great. Watching Duke eke out a one point win over Louisville in women's basketball was good times. * * * Then comes the dessert. Dark clouds. The brownie with three scoops of ice cream, candied pecans, and caramel sauce tasted fantastic. It was an irresistible end to a meal. But brownies should really really not be the size of a big box store. Remember from English class - "Enough! No More! Tis not so sweet now as it was before." The brownie was three to five times the size of a regular brownie - and this was before all the extra stuff was put on top of it. It was super rich and super good the way brownies are supposed to be. It was gooey the way super brownies are supposed to be. But the only human being in history who could have managed that sucker was Diamond Jim Brady, the notorious glutton of the Gilded Age. (Four T-bone steaks, two ducks, a half a dozen lobsters, three dozen oysters, two pounds of candy and an entire pastry tray were a normal dinner for him. He could go for more if there were special treats.) I went from being happy and in a good mood to being a little full, then more than full, then Jesus-Christ-I-Can't-Stand-It-Anymore. I left half of that brownie on my plate, and left Cover 3 nauseated and staggering. Not the way you want to end an otherwise fine evening. * * * Cover 3 has its definite attractions - even if you have to put up with the chairs. Bourbon and rye drinkers, take especial note. If you are going to have dessert, Bring a Sunday School bus full of second graders with you. One dessert will be enough to feed the bus.

For reasons that make no sense to any experienced summer festival-goer, the Q2 powers-that-be decided to make this a "no re-entry" event, meaning that attendees are basically locked in the stadium with very few options for relief from the heat. Thank heaven for PointsBet Sports Bar! PointsBet Austin is located inside of Q2 stadium on the north end near the Zebra Gate, up some stairs just to your right as you enter the gate. They have cold air-conditioning, at least one phone recharging station, a few table games, seating for at least 50 people, and standing room for a couple hundred others. Plus, there's a huge horseshoe bar serving plenty of canned and mixed beverages. The whole north wall is floor-to-ceiling windows, providing plenty of natural light. Lastly, there are 18 flatscreens around the walls showing various sporting events and during our concert, a couple were streaming a live view of the concert stage. As expected, prices were "high" (like everything else in Austin these days), but they were in line with pricing available at the other beverage stands outside in the stadium, so we didn't pay any more than we would have out there for the same drink. According to their website, PointsBet opens 3 hours before soccer matches on regular Q2 game days, and it's one of the few air-conditioned places where non-VIP attendees can get a break from the goings-on outside.
