Absolutely awful experience. Reached out to CATS regarding a specific pet and was told she was adopted. Disappointing but awesome she was able to find a home so quickly. Anna and Yvette were awesome and recommended Dustie instead. After agreeing that I'd like to meet Dustie as well, I received a text from Elizabeth Dawson and this is where it begins to get ugly. Elizabeth happened to "adopt" the cat that same day and was bringing her home for the first time. We agreed to meet the following Sunday, the 16th so I can prepare with essentials for bringing Dustie home. She agreed and stated there was "no problem" meeting that following Sunday. However, today I received a text from her stating she can't hold the cat because there's such high interest. I was of the belief CATS cared to place their animals in the best home possible, not simply first come first serve. After this experience, im lead to believe this organization may be pumping and dumping pets just to collect the $125 fee. I've attached the texts here as well for clarity regarding this situation.

Cats at the studios are the best. Fosters are extremely knowledgeable and they will go above and beyond to help you out and find the right cat that fits your household. In my case, I wanted to adopt 1 Turkish Angola cat. But they come in pair. So I ended up adopting 2 kittens and they're the best

    Bono & Miro

My wife and I had a wonderful experience adopting cats from Cats At The Studio and we definitely recommend this organization!! We adopted our second cat Bono from Jody and our third cat Miro from Anniko & Mihoko, and both times the team was so sweet and caring, and very thorough with the process. I could tell that they really care for and love the kitties. They even followed up after the adoption to make sure that the kitties are adjusting well. I can't thank Jody, Mihoko & Anniko enough!!

Trying to adopt was a frustrating process, but mainly because they only adopt Saturdays/Sundays and I'm mainly working on those days. I had to take off work to get my new baby, but at the end of the day it was worth it. I nearly gave up several times but I knew in my heart this was my cat so I didn't and I'm glad I still pursued. My only complaints; I didn't like how he was being physically handled by the foster. It felt unnecessarily rough, even when giving him medication it doesn't need to be so forced. He's not a baby kitten and shouldn't be grabbed by the neck for any reason. I watched him be yanked and tugged and pulled. I watched his foster yank out a matted dread from behind his ear and he bled a little so that was concerning especially because the skin behind the ears is soo sensitive. He was shaven when he got to the foster but he wasn't groomed or maintained in that time so he is very matted and will have to be shaved again. I will not be tearing out the mats. I also felt like I had to constantly text the foster, she would go days without responding and the first time I inquired about the cat nearly a month prior, it went almost no where until I saw him posted again on Petfinder. The foster said something to me that upset me personally during the interview about "he doesn't like kids, I don't know if you have kids or plan to have kids". I said I don't have kids nor do I plan to have kids. But then she reiterated "you're young, you don't know if you will want kids in the future, are you sure? He doesn't like kids". Some people physically are incapable of having kids, I don't think pushing the narrative on young women that they "may" have kids someday is not appropriate during an application process. Just say he doesn't like kids and leave it at that for the adopter to decide, don't assume every woman wants or can have children. That's why some people get pets in the first place. Unprofessional. But the pros; he is perfect otherwise. It took him only a day to adjust to his new room. He's eating, drinking, playing, using the litter box, asking for pets. He even climbed in bed with me. When he meows, he uses a quiet inside voice. All within 24 hours of bringing him home. He is lovely and I'm excited to give my new baby his forever home.

This review is long overdue. I've adopted 2 kitties from them, one in 2016 and one in May 2021. Their fosters are amazing! Both kitties arrived healthy and socialized, were spayed/neutered, dewormed, and up to date on vaccines. They really go the extra mile when you have questions about transitioning them to your home and integrating them with your family, be it two or four legged. Special shout out to Rhonda Redman and Cheri Friedman for always going above and beyond when I had/have questions. Although I've had kitties for many years, each new addition is unique and my goal is to integrate them as smoothly and as stress free as possible. They make the whole process so easy. I can't recommend them highly enough. Such a well run organization that saves countless kitties that would otherwise be euthanized. Thank you!

I'm sorry to see so many bad reviews. My experience at the Woodland Hills Petco was good. The application process is a bit time-consuming, but I felt it was great that the vetting process ensured that the cats would go to loving homes. We adopted a five month old sweet kitty; She is a joy. "Maybel" and "Marcel" were very helpful, and so eager to help with answers. These ladies work their jobs and then give time and love to the rescued cats. The cats come complete with medical records. Our cat was even seen by an optometrist (she has a "winking" eye due to a birth defect). Bless the volunteers at Cats At The Studio!

    Three siblings, ready for adoption!

They don't give you an 8 hour window where you are required to attend - the food collected goes to local food organizations to feed the homeless throughout LA - it's a great excuse to get outdoors & get some exercise! Motivation I love the entire concept of this organization. It is challenging for the impoverished to get access to fresh fruit and produce. A low income man in the Midwest a few months ago went to the hospital and was diagnosed with Scurvy! Yes, like the pirates illness. Why? He was only eating cheap, frozen meals 3x a day for the past 18 mos., no fruit or produce, and was severely vitamin C deficient! MDs diagnosis, not mine. Access to healthy fruits and veggies is critical to health but can be challenging given the expense. In comes hero organization Food Forward! They pair up with local home owners who have excess fruit or veggies. They have volunteers come out to "pick" their excess fruit. The fruit is then taken to local food banks in the area and distributed outward. How cool is that? I spent 1.5 hrs with them picking grapefruit in Woodland Hills. It was such a fun way to volunteer my time but manageable enough to fit into my schedule. I loved it and look forward to volunteer with this terrific organization again in the future. Consumers in any given community are constantly encouraged to shop local in order to help the…read moresurrounding economy and the actual business owners whom are often residents, themselves. It is by far a better choice than the mega retailers. But here is an even more amazing concept: when the local business in question that is helped by the community also helps the community in turn and/or nonprofits. Now, THAT is the most splendid symbiotic relationship that could ever be conceived! This is exactly what is happening at Burbank's very own Studio Hope. Allow me to explain... Studio Hope is a combination thrift store/vintage store/antique store/gift shop at the Hollywood Way/Clark intersection not far from the Magnolia Park area of Burbank where these stores are a dime a dozen. However, Studio Hope stands out not only because it is located a few blocks away; but also because it is a business created to 'do good'. Owned and operated by Lori and Dean, a husband-and-wife team both suffering with kidney/renal issues; this dynamic duo initially founded (1) a kidney nonprofit that helps adults/families/children suffering from renal conditions and (2) an animal nonprofit to help orphaned pets find forever homes. In turn, they founded Studio Hope which rather than operate for a profit; revenues help fund the two non-profits. So, if you shop at Studio Hope you are supporting charities versus a billion-dollar company AND the local economy! The local buzz has been raving about Studio Hope but I wasn't able to check them out until the end of 2025 when bringing them my end-of-year donations (they accept donations and offer a receipt for your tax deductions). I was absolutely enthralled the moment I walked into the shop with its vintage/antique vibe and art collective. This place is less thrift store and more vintage - in the best way possible. Studio Hope offers amazing clothing (some modern and the BEST vintage finds!), purses, jewelry, shoes, housewares and furniture, trinkets, art, etc. Studio Hope isn't just a store: it is an experience and is heaven for lovers of all things vintage and antique. You would expect that these top-tier wares being sold at Studio Hope would fetch a pretty penny due to their own worth alone plus needing to be relatively comparative to competitors. Wrong! I was shocked to find some crush-worthy vintage at affordable prices and I am poor so my judgement can be trusted! Dean and Lori's Studio Hope does not screw patrons over. During my visit in which I purchased an adorable enamel ice cream cone pin; I successfully made a clothing donation and was thanked profusely while also being introduced to Lori. Lori is a doll: friendly, inclusive, conversational, humble and obviously appreciates each and every customer. This truly 'sells' the business even more making one want to return to Studio Hope. Studio Hope is also 'cool' as they work with the local film studios and host events like "Bridgerton" viewing parties. They also utilize their store for work with their charities such as the 'prom' they put on for the teens part of their kidney nonprofit allowing them to choose among the store's gowns. Studio Hope is truly compassionate. My only complaint is that it is street-meter parking only which is a bit annoying when schlepping donations and unable to catch a close meter but Studio Hope is worth contending with this 'grievance'. If you love vintage/antiques AND want to feel good about where your dollar ends up then Studio Hope is for you and an absolute must-visit! Make sure to hi to Lori!
