I guess I never updated my review. After I posted my review, the studios and the foster of my cat continued to harass me for days and I ended up having to block their numbers and email. All because I asked them for proof of his vaccination and vet records because I needed to groom him after I adopted him, and because I mentioned I didn't appreciate how terribly the foster was handling him and throwing him around like a doll. I was reminded of this when I randomly got an email from them from a new email address almost a year later. I still stand by what I said, you are still blocked, and you didn't deserve the 4 stars before. My cat was so poorly mistreated by his foster that we have had to take him back and forth to the vet since adopting due to him having high stress levels and anxiety since being in her "care". He's been on prozac now for awhile and thankfully he's happy to be home with us and has an amazing life. But I could never and would never recommend this place to anyone, especially if the cat is fostered with that same lady. She handled him so rough, and I KNOW that's where his anxiety stemmed from with the way I saw her scruff him and throw him to the ground to shove an unmarked, unwrapped pill from the bottom of her purse down his throat. This DID happen. My cat is lucky to have ended up in a home where he is cared for and loved properly. But that lady should be so ashamed and should not be allowed to foster any animal ever. I mean it was so bad they labeled him as having a cream colored coat - he's pure white, they just kept him so dirty that you couldn't tell. Shame on you. My cat is the sweetest boy who deserves all the love and finally gets to know peace as we unlearn all the trauma this place gave him. read more

Absolutely awful experience. Reached out to CATS regarding a specific pet and was told she was adopted. Disappointing but awesome she was able to find a home so quickly. Anna and Yvette were awesome and recommended Dustie instead. After agreeing that I'd like to meet Dustie as well, I received a text from Elizabeth Dawson and this is where it begins to get ugly. Elizabeth happened to "adopt" the cat that same day and was bringing her home for the first time. We agreed to meet the following Sunday, the 16th so I can prepare with essentials for bringing Dustie home. She agreed and stated there was "no problem" meeting that following Sunday. However, today I received a text from her stating she can't hold the cat because there's such high interest. I was of the belief CATS cared to place their animals in the best home possible, not simply first come first serve. After this experience, im lead to believe this organization may be pumping and dumping pets just to collect the $125 fee. My partner and I adopted from this organization in May 2026. We met the volunteer Marcelle, and she sold us two kittens. We had a few issues during the adoption process. First, she claimed one of the kittens to be male when she turned out to be female. She took this kitten to get "neutered" and did not give us any aftercare instructions (I asked if he needed to not eat as much or be as active, and she said he can go on just as before). Unfortunately, our kitten, Gunther, started vomiting a couple of days post op, so we took Gunther to the vet when they made it clear she was a female. We did not care about the gender of the kittens when we were ready to adopt, but this feels like a big oversight. I've never been a cat owner, and I made Marcelle know this and asked her to be very direct in all the instructions. I told Marcelle about Gunther actually being a girl, and she never addressed my message, which felt very unprofessional. Second, when registering our second kitten, Simon, Marcelle gave us two microchips for him, and we did not know which was the correct one, as all the paperwork was under Simon's name for both microchips. This is a big issue, and I genuinely do not know how this got overlooked. Simon had a cold when we first adopted him, so we also took him to the vet, and they showed me that neither of the microchip papers was correct and gave me a completely different number than the two we had. Again, I brought this issue up to Marcelle, and she said she would try to find the right tag, but she never reached out to me again. I completely understand this is a volunteer organization, and we are rescuing, but I think knowing the gender and having the correct microchip for these kittens should be the bare minimum, as well as taking responsibility for when I confronted Marcelle about this. I did not receive any accountability from her or the organization. I would not recommend this organization to anyone. read more

I adopted two bonded kitties from Georgia and could not be happier. The entire process was easy and she was very responsive. The foster was also amazing and it was obvious that the kitties were very well taken care of. They are socialized and have no behavior issues. They're just as beautiful, happy, and healthy as can be. I think this company needs to do better when it comes to their foster parents and making sure they are truly adopting these cats out for the best interests of the cat/cats. I say this because my husband and I recently adopted a very sweet Siamese boy from Georgia who told us he had a brother but continuously reassured us he was not bonded to the brother. We brought the boy home and for the entire week he cried and searched for his brother, was ver invite depressed and having separation issues. I reached out to Georgia to ask his the bother is doing and she also said his brother is depressed. Therefore we decided to return Nico so he could be adopted with his brother as we could not adopt 2 cats at the time and felt bad for keeping them separated. She agreed and we arranged a time to return him. The day of, she kept blowing my phone up asking when I'll be at the Encino personal return Nico because she has a new adopter who will take both brothers together, great! That's what we hoped for, for these sweet boys. Upon arriving we were informed by the adopter that apparently she want both cats but Georgia promised one to someone else and is yet again separating them! I don't understand this, they clearly need to be together and had a willing adopter that wanted both of them and was present to adopt both but Georgia wouldn't allow her to? Also we were told before adopting Nico that he was chipped when he was not and upon us taking him to the vet he needed dental cleaning and tooth removed which was never communicated to us. When we returned him we informed the new adopter about these extra charges she will be having immediately and Georgia wasn't happy we were telling her this. This all felt very shady and untrustworthy and not safe for the cats. read more

Trying to adopt from this rescue has been one of the worst experiences of my life. I applied for a cat and was told that he was part of a bonded pair. We said that we would be more than willing to take in both kittens. After filling out the application, I was asked more questions by the foster mom. They were weirdly intrusive and she asked me "Are you planning to have a life of your own soon?" The owner, Georgia, also commented on my age (24 with a Masters degree and a stable job). These women discriminate based on age. Despite all of the weird communications I've had with two ladies from this rescue, we scheduled to meet at a Petco in Encino (a 40 minute drive) so that I could meet the kittens I was interested in adopting. I was committed to showing these women that I was serious and more than responsible enough to adopt these kittens. So I make my way to the Petco at 1:00PM, 30 minutes before the "adoption event" was to take place. I wait around for 40 minutes and still no sign of any adoption event. I ask the manager and he tells me that this lady, Georgia, is always late to their own events. A little peeved off, I message the foster mom to let her know that I was there but there didn't seem to be an adoption event taking place. She gets back to me and says that Georgia was no longer going to be coming because it was "too hot." She then tells me that I'm more than welcome to drive to this Georgia woman's house to meet her and the kittens. Still committed, I make the trip. When I get to the home, she then refuses to show me the kittens I was interested in and shows me two other kittens instead. And by "shows me," I truly mean just shows me the kittens. And I was a little appalled by the way she grabbed these kittens by the napes of their necks and just swung them around, showing me from a distance. A total of 10 seconds I got to see them before she flung them back into their tiny little carrier. I couldn't believe how incredibly unorganized and dysfunctional this rescue was. If they weren't going to show up to the appointment at Petco, they could've let me know the day before when I texted to let them know that I would be there. The foster mom also tells me that she'll meet me at Georgia's to show me the other kittens. but then cancels to tell me that I could come to her house (another 15 minute drive). At this point, I am no longer interested in their kittens as they obviously don't seem to care about placing these kittens in a loving home either. When I tell the foster mom that I am no longer interested in her kittens, she starts sending me pictures of other kittens, basically desperate to amend things. When I don't respond, she says she takes a look at my application and that because I have a dog and a dog door (I do not have a dog door, so it seems she didn't look very closely) I can no longer adopt the two kittens. Overall this rescue is a nightmare, these snobbish women truly do not care about the wellbeing of these kittens nor have the desire to place them in good homes. They are rude and waste your time. The very next day, I had another appointment with another rescue. This other rescue was 1000x better than Cats at the Studio and we were able to take home the sweetest little kitten. Please do not waste your time or money on this rescue. There are many other wonderful rescues that actually do incredible work. Georgia and Mihoko, I truly hope you two can reflect on your "work" and do better for the kittens in your care. read more

I'm sorry to see so many bad reviews. My experience at the Woodland Hills Petco was good. The application process is a bit time-consuming, but I felt it was great that the vetting process ensured that the cats would go to loving homes. We adopted a five month old sweet kitty; She is a joy. "Maybel" and "Marcel" were very helpful, and so eager to help with answers. These ladies work their jobs and then give time and love to the rescued cats. The cats come complete with medical records. One of the connections she made was to Dee, who immediately connected us with Leslie, one of the foster moms. We were able to arrange to visit the kittens in her home that evening. Leslie goes the extra mile by bottle feeding orphaned kittens; she raised our little girl and two of her brothers from 2-3 weeks until they were ready for adoption. They were obviously well taken care of, well socialized, and had received a lot of love. Leslie was able to answer all or questions about the kitten's history and demeanor, and she was very welcoming. She gave us time to play with the kitten, and of course we decided that this was the right kitten for us! Dee even stopped by with the adoption paperwork, so we were able to take her home that night. She even came home with a goody bag of toys! It was a pleasure to work with all three women, each of which who went above and beyond to make our experience great and ensure the kittens received good homes. I adopted a kitten from Cats At The Studios in mid-February, and they had him up for adoption 2 days after getting him from a homeless man. They never should have waited 2 days before putting him up for adoption because they gave me a cat with ringworm, which spread to my other 2 cats. Thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars later, it's still going on. It is the biggest nightmare ever, especially since the kitten gave it to my 16 year old cat with lymphoma. I couldn't touch my cats for over 5 weeks and the kitten was locked up for 8 weeks with very little contact or interaction with anyone. Now my lymphoma kitty has it again, and I'll be spending more thousands of dollars dealing with this. Now i can't touch my cats for another 5 weeks (minimum) with one that could have only a month left to live. Do not adopt a cat from this place because they are careless and irresponsible. read more

First time was in 2014 Woodland Hills. Second time was in 2017 in Moorpark. Last week I went back to the Woodland Hills Petco and adopted a 4 month old kitten. 100% recommend this wonderful founder!! Georgia of Cats at the studios rescue is the wonderful place that we found for finding our beautiful kittens. They are Brother and sister kittens that she drive out to bakersfield to get from people who found them in the trash. She bottle fed them and cared for their little shut eyes. We thought we were getting one kitten until we learned this story and she insisted they stay together since that was their unique story- our sisters definitely each needed ther own cat. Let me just say this with all my heart this dear wonderful woman named Georgia has helped countless kittens find good homes. Oh yes she checks out the adoptee family as they all must do to be absolutely sure that the rescue is actually getting a safe living home- and yes she has a sixth sense about her work. You see, she does this professionally with all her energy, coming straight out of love. It's not easy sometimes heartbreaking to work with precious animals without a voice and yet she is one of the angels in earth in my opinion absolutely giving all her best every day to this great need. We do know she is exceptional. Our grandkids worked in animal rescue groups every weekend they could through high school. We fostered when we could. I definitely would not recommend this organization. My boyfriend and I adopted a kitten that ended up not being a good fit for our home, so we brought her back to her foster, Malia. She was very understanding, and even offered that she would "find out about the [adoption] refund as well, how to get that back to [us]." I thought that was very sweet of her ($125 is not a small chunk of change), since we hadn't even thought about getting - or asking for - a refund until she had mentioned it. Over the course of the next week and a half, she texted us with updates about the refund: "I am still waiting to hear back regarding refund. I believe that they mail a check out." (10/13) "I wanted to check and see if you received a check in the mail yet?" (10/24) "Let me check the status of the check. It was supposed to be mailed out." (10/25) "I spoke with the woman that is in charge of sending the checks out, I think they've had a turnover in the office, she said they were shortstaffed but that the check will be going out shortly. If you don't get it within seven days, please text me so I can find out what's going on. I apologize about the time delay." (10/25) So, imagine our surprise when we received an envelope in the mail, only to open it up and find a formal letter stating that the adoption refund (that supposedly I had requested at the time of return) would not be issued, as apparently they don't give out refunds. I was extremely confused. Should we have originally gone back and re-read the fine-print of the adoption contract, to double check whether we were entitled to a refund? Absolutely - but, by my mistake, I assumed I didn't have to, considering we were told plenty of times a check would be coming in the mail. We texted Malia to let her know about the letter. I watched her read my message (read receipts were on) and ignore me. I waited a day or so, until I sent a letter back in the mail with copies of the screenshots of all the times we had been assured we'd get a refund. We never received a response. If I had to guess what'd happened, I'd say that at some point in time the mix-up must have been discussed with someone higher up (what happened to the 'woman in charge of sending the checks out', who said the refund would 'be going out shortly'?), but they hoped that by sending a bold, red-marked up letter and ignoring all my responses we would quietly go away. All in all, I just think that with so many adoption organizations in the Valley, there are better options out there, run by people who foster (no pun intended) a bit more professionalism. read more

If I could give 10 stars I would!! We met Rhonda last week and just wanted to write a review to express how thankful we are to have met her! We are dog folks and have always had dogs.. Our 7-year-old daughter has been asking for a cat for the past year, so we started researching online and decided to look at a few rescue places to find a kitten that would fit our family of 2 kids and 2 dogs. Rhonda invited us to her home to see her cats and kittens. It was amazing, Rhonda and her husband Tony have obviously dedicated their lives and their home to helping rescue cats/kittens. Each cat and kitten we saw had such a warm, wonderful environment and hands-on care from Rhonda and her husband. I felt like I had gone to a breeder's home rather than someone rescuing cats. All of the kittens were so well adjusted. They were friendly, interacted with us, and played with the other kittens and our children! During our visit there was absolutely NO pressure to choose or take home any cat/kitten. Additionally, Rhonda took all the time we wanted to go over what we would need to care for the kittens, recommendations on food, toys, litter, etc., she even talked us through the best way to introduce our dogs to the new kittens. Talking to Rhonda was so different from our experiences of talking to other rescue organizations - she knew her animals and really wanted the best for our family and her kittens/cats. I hate to write a bad review about a company that hopefully prides itself on saving animals. But it seems like whoever is in charge of checking their emails, or reviewing applications is not doing their job at all. I have been trying to adopt there for almost a month and a half now, I wrote THREE applications and wrote 3 emails asking if they have been received and reviewed. I was in touch with a foster mom who was caring for a Cat from them, I was really hoping to adopt him. Not one time did anyone from the company get back to me. In each email I listed the name of the cat and the foster mom and no one till this day has ever replied. There are a lot of animals that need homes, I used to foster and know how it is. But this is not the way to find good homes! It doesn't seem like anyone is even working there or checking applications to find these babies good homes!! read more

I adopted a little kitten about a month ago. The adoption process was quick and easy and I was lucky enough to be able to take our kitten home the day I met him at his foster mom's house. Unfortunately what you read in the bad comments is true; the cats/kittens are not in great health. Our kitten had an eye infection when we adopted him but he is good now. Cats At The Studios also offers to cover all vet bills in the 2 weeks following the adoption. I understand it is difficult to rescue that many kitten and to have them all healthy by the time they are getting adopted that's why I am not mad about it at all. My partner and I visited a cat from Cats at the Studio that we found on Petfinder (Greyson), in the Encino Petco a couple weeks ago. The first red flag - when watching the foster Georgia handle Greyson and another kitten we were appalled at how rough she was with them, grabbing them and yanking them aggressively from the carrier. After meeting Greyson and asking Georgia questions, we were ready to adopt him then and there, but despite the fact that he was not in a bonded pair with another cat, Georgia insisted that she prefer that he not be an only pet. I mentioned that my partner has a dog and that we will be moving in together in the coming months. Georgia asked for one day to think about whether we could go ahead and adopt Greyson. So I called her on Sunday, and she said that she thought he would do okay as an only pet for a while, but asked when the dog was coming. I told her again that we are moving in together soon. She said he was on a medication for soft stool and I could pick him up the following Sunday. I saw that his listing was removed from Petfinder. So on Saturday we went shopping for Greyson to get him all of his supplies - litter box, litter, the specific food she was feeding him, etc. I texted her throughout the day and called her and left a message, asking when a good time would be to pick up Greyson on Sunday. She never responded. By the end of the day, with her complete lack of response I began to get nervous. I looked, and was surprised to see his listing was back up on Petfinder. My partner decided to call from her phone and pose as a new potential adopter. Georgia told her that Greyson WAS indeed available for adoption, and that she could come meet him the next day, Sunday - the day I was supposed to pick him up. After she got off the phone with the "potential adopter", she finally returned my text, saying that he had an eye infection and needed more medication for his soft stool, and to check back on Wednesday (8/28). So she chose to keep ME on the hook to possibly adopt him, in case this other person she just spoke to fell through. Potentially delaying me adopting another kitty. While I'm disappointed I couldn't adopt him, I'm more irritated that Georgia with her power trip not only lied to me when agreeing that I could adopt him in the first place, but then pulled the shady move of keeping me on the hook in case someone else fell through. I was prepared to give sweet little Greyson a loving home but instead he remains in her care getting roughly handled and apparently getting frequent infections. She of course responded to my comments saying I shouldn't have "played games" by having my partner call her - which wouldn't have been necessary had she been direct with me in the first place. She chose to keep me on the hook which is rude, unprofessional, and really unnecessary. She should not have agreed that I could adopt him if she was that concerned that he would be an only pet for some time before the dog moved in. I can't recommend adopting with Cats at the Studios should anyone ask me about my experience in adopting pet - because despite how cute and sweet the cats are, the humans can be really disappointing. read more

(Responding to the posts from Gillian): I am sorry to hear about your loss, and the particular circumstances that your kitty had to struggle through. Your kitty was lucky to have such a loving family as yours. I similatly adopted from Cats at the Studio--two kittens actually. Within the 1st two weeks, my adult cat who I aleady had and whom has never been sick, had to be taken to the vet for symptoms of an upper respiratory virus and what seemed to be some form of kitty laryngitis. We later found out that the adopted kittens were both Infected with FCoV virus. Sadly, one of the kittens rapidly developed "wet FIP" with severe distension and difficulty breathing and ultimately had to be put to sleep. The other kitten and my adult cat appear to be remaining healthy. However, both have this ongoing issue of having lose smelly poops. Horribly awful smell. :( :( This has been a real heart-wrenching eye-opener of an experience. ... which is still impacting me and my family every day. Now I have to wake up and worry every day If today is the day that my kitten and/or my cat will be "healthy" or will their conditions have progressed into the wet FIP form like the kitten that we lost developed into. I will never adopt through this organization ever ever ever again. I only read your review and a couple others about Cats at the Studio, after it was too late. I tried to adopt a cat but it seems like they are always down or something since calls and emails have been ignored. I've been avoiding writing a review on this rescue seeing that we adopted our cat in December 2013. I really wanted to believe that we made the right choice in adopting through Cats at the Studio. We absolutely love our cat and fell in love with her the moment we laid eyes on her. She is such a sweet girl. Unfortunately, she is barely a year old and we have had serious medical problems with her and that's just one of the many issues. We also own a dog and we wanted to be sure that whatever cat we rescued would be okay with dogs. Our cat absolutely hates our dog and growls every time he enters the room. We can't leave our cat and dog alone in the same room. We were assured by the rescue that this cat gets along GREAT with dogs.....nope! Back to the medical issues....when we first brought our cat in to the vet for a wellness checkup about 2 weeks after adopting her, the adoption papers stated that she was born may 3rd and was administered shots may 20th. The vet told us that if that is the truth, it's unsafe. Our cat would have been just 3 weeks old when given shots....When calling cats at the studio on this issue, I had a hard time getting through to them.... The next problem.....the same check up after adoption, our vet noticed our cats gums were extremely red and bled to the touch. She administered antibiotics and we tried avoiding any surgery as long as we could. April 1st, our cat had to have her back top and bottom teeth removed because of a serious case of stomatitis. $2000 we are now paying. On top of that, she has had multiple fevers and has a hard time gaining weight. We are working with vets to get her back to 100% healthy. My only advice is that you research where you adopt from and if you choose to adopt through cats at the studio, make sure you get all of the facts and even suggest a home visit before adding to your family. read more

My family and I have been looking to adopt/rescue a new cat for a few weeks. We have been going to Petco and seeing who's available, calling the fosters to get info about the cats, and generally been trying to do our due diligence to make sure that whomever we adopted was a good fit; for our benefit and the cat's. Bringing a new cat into a home is stressful for the adoptee and the existing house cats. We're well aware of that. Once we decided we were committed to this course of action and started browsing the available cats online, the kids got very excited. Of course! A new kitty family member is a big deal. I called one of the fosters, Jody, who was very helpful. We had a good phone conversation (I thought) and she told us that a couple of the cats she's fostering wouldn't be good options for us, but that she had other cats that might be. She asked me to fill out an adoption application, which I promptly did. Today, I received an email from CATS, Inc saying that our family isn't a good fit for their cats. I'm flabbergasted. We have 2 healthy and happy cats, and room in our hearts and home to give that to another cat. Whoever wrote the email suggested we go to the animal shelter and adopt a cat from there. We are going to do exactly that. I don't know if this is the adoption place for snobby cats or what... (that's a joke, but maybe it sounds funnier in person). I'm disappointed that we spent so many hours looking at the cats they had available just to be told that we weren't a good fit, but no reason why. If you're looking to adopt a cat, please, go to the animal shelter and rescue one who is going to be euthanized. The cats at CATS, Inc. are being well taken care of by the fosters. The shelter kitties really do need you to help them. read more

I wish I would have read the Cats At The Studio reviews before I wasted my time filling out their application. My husband and I were told that their cats would not be a good fit for our household. No explanation; just a referral to a shelter. We have a nice home, good jobs, are educated, and have had cats (and dogs) our entire lives. We love animals. Our pets are our children and are spoiled rotten: A great vet, Orijen food, healthy treats and toys, the dogs can come to the office with us, I work at home a lot, they go to group play, get groomed regularly, and so on. Our last cat was originally feral. We trapped him, fixed him, got him his shots, and loved him up. He loved us back so much that about 14 years later, when he was diagnosed with lymphoma and given 6 weeks, he decided to hang out with us another 13 months. Our other kitty, from an abandoned litter, lived to be 23. This isn't our first rodeo; we're just stunned we were refused. We are very curious as to how their cats differ from all others... If they think our home isn't suitable for their cats, why is it okay for shelter kitties? We certainly didn't experience the frustration or heartache that many of you here did. How sad. But for anyone reading this down the line who is also refused--and after reading the experiences of these pet lovers--I would say it's a bullet dodged. read more
