So, I asked for a little guidance and the owner was so. Ice enough to explain all of the dishes. We went with the schnitzel platter, schnitzel hero, and a classic langós (see pictures) 1. The chicken schnitzel was nice and thin with a crispy crunchy breading. It was a very generous option/ enough for sharing! It was paired with the classic cucumber salad and a side of a garlicky mayo. I got the Hungarian salad which was like a mayo/sour cream based salad with added carrots, string beans and corn. This will satisfy your hunger without making you feel gross, it's very light and refreshing despite it being fried. 2. The schnitzel hero was close to the platter but obviously in a sandwich form. Think of your classic chicken cutlet grinder. Great for eating and driving at the same time. Side of fries were standard. 3. The classic Langós was a star! Resembles fried dough, but the dough itself is very flavorful on its own. It's topped with sour cream, garlic and shredded cheese - best eaten right away! Talbott & Arding was chosen as our first stop on our girls' getaway journey. Tucked in the Hudson Valley, just an hour from the Berkshires, it was a sweetly energetic beginning to our day. We each chose a sandwich from the counter. My smoked salmon on focaccia was a delight. The bread, airy and light, beautifully happy yeast just bounding with lift, defying the constraints of olive oil which left my fingers gloriously glistening. I haven't had a focaccia as happy as that in a minute. Super thin radish, bright pickled shallot and fresh watercress all gave a nice vibrant touch. Ben's cream cheese couldn't possibly be creamier. And the delicate, silky, fresh, luxurious salmon... What a dream. So balanced. I filled my arms with goods- iberico salami, Aleppo chili oil, Blackstrap coffee beans, local chocolates, and an adorable Talbott & Arding puzzle. I'm sure I could have easily convinced myself to buy just about everything I laid my eyes upon. The cheese counter was an absolute work of art. It's clear that Talbott & Arding is a willing servant to the gifts of the surrounding earth and people. The homage it pays is palpable. Our stop at Talbott & Arding set the tone for an intentional, peaceful, vibrant, cozy, delicious, connected trip. I'll be back immediately.

With that and the prepared food case, it's so convenient and delicious to pick up a few items to complete a nutritious home meal. Oh and they are connected to and big boosters of Slow Food Hudson Valley. Feel good about where a large chunk o' your discretionary spending goes!
