What can I say that hasn't already been said? Biggest ribs I've ever seen in my life. Soooo tender. But a little too peppery. Burnt ends were great, and not quite as peppery as the ribs for some reason. Sausage was fine but unremarkable...but I'm more of a ribs/brisket person anyway. SIDES: - Slaw was solid. I eat slaw to cut the richness of meat, and that's definitely needed here. I mostly remember it being my stomach's lifesaver more than anything else. - Cheese grits were really tasty (with a nice little kick) but super runny and very rich. Could be skipped if only for the sake of more stomach room for meat. - Mac & cheese was great...super rich, though, obviously. Again, could be skipped only for the sake of more stomach room for meat. - Collard greens I'd skip. First of all, nothing special about how they were cooked or seasoned. Also, they were so soggy the container actually fell apart underneath them. The corners got so waterlogged they came unglued, and it ended up just being a pool of collard greens sitting on a piece of cardboard that used to be a container. - Liked the potato salad, and it wasn't quite as rich as the cheese grits, so that might be a good middle ground if you're looking for a side to cut the peppery ribs and the meat richness. Cattleack BBQ was an outstanding stop on our Big D BBQ tour. The wait in the long line was definitely worth it. We had brisket, pork ribs, spicy sausage with loaded baked beans, cheesy jalapeño grits and finished it with crack cake. The brisket was the star of the show. It was cooked to perfection, juicy with a great bark. The great beef flavor came through with hints of spice and smoke. This was Texas brisket done right. The pork ribs were a great example of how ribs should be seasoned and cooked. Most BBQ places overcook, over season and over sauce their pork ribs. Not at Cattleack! Their ribs were smoky tidbits of porky goodness. The meat pulled off the bone with a slight tug (not fall-off-the-bone overcooked) and the rub complemented the meat without overpowering it. Pork ribs done this well are hard to find. The spicy sausages aren't for the weak at heart, but they were extremely tasty. The spiciness melded well with the smokiness of the meat. The links were juicy, flavorful with great heat. Very tasty. While BBQ is all about the meat, it's a bonus when the sides shine as well. The sides at Cattleack were hands down the best on our BBQ tour. The grits were silky, cheesy with a slight kick. They had a great texture and weren't mushy. The grits were a great complement to the meat. The loaded baked beans with burnt ends were a home run. We were fighting over the last bite. The generous amount of burnt ends provides an amazing smoky, meaty flavor and texture to the beans. These favor-packed delicacies sets the standard for baked beans. The crack cake (which Misty claims to be life-changing) was a great finish to an amazing meal. The crispy-topped cake was moist, light and nicely sweet. We believe Misty when she says the crack cake is life-changing, but additional sampling is probably needed to achieve the full effect. Yeah, it's as good as the hype. The brisket is as good as Franklin's, and even the sides are good. Seems you'll have an hour wait no matter what time you get there. We got there at 9:30 and were eating before 10:30 (they opened a little early). Also not a bad idea to order ahead. I would probably plan to do that next time. read more

Only disappointment was everything running out as we got closer to order the food lol I get it with BBQ spots, things run out, but I noticed people order extra to take home to have for the rest of the week. Wow this BBQ joint is INSANE. Definitely worth the wait (but definitely expect to wait at least 1 hour and get there before they open) Everything that I ate was cooked perfectly and required no barbecue sauce because the flavor was already amazing without it. Everything was good. From the brisket to the beef ribs, the burnt ends and the pork ribs. Can't say much except wish they were open more than 2 days a week. They open at 1030a and me and my family got there around 9am and there was already a line. After getting about $100 in brisket, I couldn't wait to get to my car. Not to dive into the food, but to actually yelp... My last recorded IQ eval was 138, down a few points from pre-covid, but I'm clearly no dummy. I advised in advance that it was my first time at this place. The next 2 minutes involved me being talked to like I'm a fuckin' idiot by the meat slicer because I wasn't familiar with the nuances of their offers. He was friendly to the equally clueless "European ladies that look like him" in front of me. Why did I get the treatment??? My gender? I'm not "European"? I don't know... The other line staff were somewhat friendly but not enough to stop me from making it a point to get this off my chest. I'm about to host an in-town meeting for my 75 person staff from all over the country. I was dead set on providing Goldee's because I find them to be the gold standard in barbecue (no pun intended) but one of my guys said this place has good food. I said I would drive out here from Ft Worth and this is what I got. So before I shut my car off and go back in and "clown", I will just end this and say that the customer service sucked. read more

My meat order consisted of Pork and Beef Ribs + Sausages Sides were hatch chilies mac cheese, beans, green beans, corn bread and jalapeño grits. Desert was crack cakes. I now understand why all of Dallas is standing in a long lunch line for this bbq! I ordered 1 brisket sandwich, 1 turkey sandwich, 4 sides: beans, Mac n cheese, cole slaw (vinegar based), and potato salad! I asked for lean brisket. The top layer(flavor) was all fat on my tender pieces of brisket. The bottom layer was tender, succulent lean meat! An amazing flavor ! The smoke ring is picture perfect on this brisket. I thoroughly enjoyed my brisket sandwich! The turkey was moist and had great flavor but was a bit too salty from the rub. I liked the sandwich overall. The Mac n cheese is cheesy, yummy, with a bit of a kick! The cole slaw texture is great and it has a sweet and sour flavor profile. The beans were out of this world good! Tender pieces of brisket in the beans! The potato salad was good with a kick too! The potato pieces are cubed really small in size. I liked the bbq sauce, chopped onions, and pickles that came with my sandwich! I topped it off with a bottle of coke! I have enough food for 2 to 3 meals and it was all 36 bucks and change. 2.99 a side. Sandwiches were just under 10 bucks. Prepare to stand in line for about an hour when arriving on Thursday at 11am! Ok guys..the barbecue is good, and you won't be disappointed. However, the turkey was actually better than I expected and not dry. It had a bit of charred on it, which was tasty. Now back to the brisket. It was tender and juicy but it was not Pecan Lodge. My husband is a Lockhart fan and he said it's not better than them, but the turkey was. Now the sides....the cheese grits is da bomb!!!! A good thing y'all. The greens were good and the potatoe salad was ok nothing to brag about. Now I'm a mac and cheese lover and I was dissapointed...for it to have chiles, it was the least of my favorite. So, to sum it all up 1.pecan lodge 2. Lockhart 3. Well, get there a little early. They open at 10:30. We got there at 9:45 and were pretty much the last people inline that got to start inside. Line moves pretty fast. With that being said, the food is worth the wait. We had brisket, pork ribs, burnt ends, Texas and green chili sausage, collard greens, Mac and cheese, beans, cole slaw, banana pudding and crack cake. Everything was top shelf. You will fine little custom differences in their food. Like curry in the BBQ sauce, green chili in and Mac and cheese and pulled pork in the collard greens. Collard greens are sweet and have a little vinegar in them. They were delicious. The brisket was some of the best I've had, we had lean and fatty. The crust was perfect and the smoke flavor was on point. The pork rib was so moist and tender without falling off the bone. The sausages had the best snap and flavor. All this and free Lonestar beers!! Staff was fast and friendly. You won't regret eating some TX BBQ here. read more

Cattlelack BBQ is a great little gem tucked away in a little spot located in Farmers Branch. They are BBQ catering Gods that open 3 days a week for lunch allowing BBQ civilians an opportunity into the den of smoked debauchery!! We had one of everything available (beef ribs/smoked bologna were sold out) and all of it was amazing! The sausage had a zing of star aniseed that gave it a unique twist. My 4th time here. Previous visits were good. However, they need to work on the sides and the plain slices of bread. The days of serving old nostalgia inexpensive slices of bread should be done. Large crowds speak for themselves here. Get there early because the seating is limited. They also have limited lunch hours and are found in the warehouse area in far North Dallas off the beaten path from the big restaurant row in Addison. The barbeque is good. The brisket meat is tender but the couple of times I have had it it contained too much fat - and I like fat! The bark part of the meat comes out way too salty for my taste - and I like salt! This was absolutely some of the best barbeque I've ever had. The moist brisket was perfectly seasoned, with incredible marbling and a beautiful crust. The beef rib would be on my list of things to eat if I had to have a last meal on this earth, and the sweet glaze on thepork ribs were such a nice counterpoint to the savory beef barbeque. Further, the sauce was a great mix of spicy and sweet. The corn and burnt end baked beans were both excellent, and the cheesy grits were fantastic as well. Last but not least, the crack cake was superb. I will definitely be back. I went on a Friday and arrived at 9:20, and had my food and was out the door by 10:30 (they actually started taking food orders around 10:15). Update: The owner Todd reached out to me in regards to the sausage, and offered that I come in so he could replace them. A month later, and I finally did so. I am pleased to say they tasted a lot better today! I arrived right when they opened, and the lady who works at the register was there greeting us with high-fives. The line moved fairly quickly, and the customer service was phenomenal yet again. This time I had the texan spicy sausage, mac&cheese and baked beans. The BBQ sauce is a little watery compared to what I like it, but has a great taste. I do plan on returning, a love a place with good food and customer service. read more

Are you looking for the best barbecue in a Texan city like Dallas? Do you have access to and can you drive a car? Are you available specifically for lunch on a Thursday or a Friday? Do you like free beer? If you said yes to all of my questions, this place will have your answer. You do need a car to get to this place. The public transportation is not that great here. Fortunately, I had about a 20 minute wait when I arrived at this place on a Thursday. The queue went out the door slightly and the staff was fairly efficient, as long as you know what to order. I had the beef brisket, the pork ribs, and the jalapeno cheddar sausage, along with macaroni and cheese as my side dish, and took home the "crack cake" (a buttery pie) for dessert later on. They give you free beer while you are waiting, but I would not call it really good beer. It was refreshing beer though. The beef brisket was probably one of the best tasting beef brisket dishes I ever had in Dallas and possibly in Texas. Amazing flavor, very tender, and after adding some barbecue sauce on the beef and the fatty portions, it was delicious. The pork ribs were also delicious, again very tender with a great flavor, and the jalapeno cheddar sausage had a nice spice, and great tenderness. The macaroni and cheese was a nice addition, and it also filled my stomach even more. After eating all this, I was extremely full but happy, and once everything was digested, eager to exercise. The "crack cake" has a nice sweetness and softness, combined with a fresh cold glass of milk would make a fine afternoon snack after a long day at work or classes. One major disadvantage this place has is that it's only open on Thursdays and Fridays specifically for lunch. I don't understand why. If you're serving the best barbecue in Dallas, don't you want to make it accessible to more people who want it on a Saturday night, a Sunday afternoon or a Monday night after a really bad day? You could make a lot more money that way unless these people spend most of their time caring for their livestock during the rest of the days of the week. Overall, I thought I had the best barbecue in Dallas so far. I generally had a lot of tasty and delicious experiences eating barbecue in Texas, but I would say that this place is pretty good. I think that if this place has better availability to the general public, it has a lot of potential to be the best place for Texas barbecue in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. read more

Beef rib: better than the ones at either Pecan Lodge or Lockhart Smokehouse. Less greasy, yet still moist, excellent flavor, very tender. Expensive but worth it. Pork rib: probably the best I have ever had, no kidding. Very tender yet not dry. Flavor was perfect mixture of rub and smoke. Texas Spicy Sausage: only thing that was not excellent. Not bad at all, good flavor, not really all that hot. It just pales in comparison to the ribs and brisket. Mild Italian Sausage: Again, not bad at all, just not on par with the other meats....good flavor, very moist. Would order again. I had a side of mac n cheese, which was quite good. I didn't need their sauce...meat this good needs no sauce. I tried a little just to be able to address it....it's ok, but quite sweet. Many will like it....I'm just not a sauce fan. I had one of the free beers on my first visit, which was Lone Star. I asked if it was because there's no liquor license...which is the case That means you can BYOB!!! I love that at a BBQ place!
