We made a trip to KY and a group of us had dinner at the restaurant a couple times. The food was ok, nothing to be excited about. Salad bar was nicely stocked and a good point for us. One of the dinners, my steak was delivered to another guest. After sitting for a moment, I let the waitress know I was still waiting for my dinner, she looked around the table, realized my steak was with someone else. She proceeded to remove the baked potato from the plate as it had been cut into, grab the steak from one guest, place it in front of me, and said she'd grab another potato. Had I not been with a group of hungry guys ready to get back to the hotel, I'd have asked for a replacement steak. One guest ordered the "ribeye" steak medium rare, which came out on a plate, about 1/2" thick, and almost well done. read more

Salad bar is great! Food is good. Our party ordered the Bourbon glazed sirloin, Smothered Chicken, and Potato Skins appetizer (as a meal item). Have never been a huge fan of this place -- the menu is just really boring. However, the food has always been made well and the service has always been friendly and relatively prompt. Until my most recent visit. The portions have shrunk significantly (despite no reduction in prices, of course). My sweet potato was burned, and my chicken breast was tiny. So, we have eaten here many times and both the food and service have always been good. The ambience is casual steakhouse. They still have self serve salad bar which is very nice. Main issues is that it is too pricey for the level of the place. The specialty cocktails are 13 bucks which are price expected down on whiskey row, not Shelbyville. Went here on a Wednesday night and the place seem moderately busy for 7PM. There was only a single hostess working the front it seemed so I had to wait a couple of minutes for them to what I assume is return from seating the last table. Menu contains many similar options to other similar restaurants, but I wound up ordering their special which was a 6oz sirloin, 1 side and the salad bar. The highlight of the meal was the salad bar. Ingredients were fresh, staff made sure everything remained well stocked, and there was many options to choose from. While I was filling up my salad plate I heard several groups of folks come up just for the broccoli salad and they were remarking how good it was. Unfortunately by the time I heard those comments my plate was too full to accomodate any, but just wanted to provide a heads up that several folks found it noteworthy. That is really where the decent part of the experience ends. I ordered my steak medium-rare and what was delivered was medium-well at least. The meat also had very little flavor / seasoning on it to the extent that I had to add salt and pepper just to give it something other than just bland meat. The side item (greenbeans) were the same with no flavor. I didnt try any of the bread, so cannot comment on how good/bad it may have been. Service was also lackluster at best. Nothing horrible just not very attentive to refills, etc. For the price of the daily special it wasnt the worst, but I definitely do not have a strong desire to eat here again. Going forward if I want a chain steakhouse there are much better options out there. The only real star in the whole place was the salad bar. read more

Always a go to when in Shelbyville and I am never let down. We went on a Friday night around 8:30 and got seated immediately. Dining at Cattleman's 9-20-25 was pure pleasure. The place was full. What was very impressive, the Dining room staff were all on the floor. All patrons were all well serviced. All excellently trained and attentive. We were in a back corner, but, never unattended. It was pleasure watching young, very professional staff working together. This place was close to the winery and had good reviews. We enjoyed it very much. It's like a fridays ord max n ermas or ruby tuesdays with a salad bar. They also have a bar w tv's. My fiance and I currently ate here salad bar was very clean. The potato salad cole slaw and broccoli salad tasted old and pasta salad bland and gross. Rolls were hot and fresh love the butter. He got the country fried steak and I got the chopper our food was hot and tasty we got the chicken egg rolls as an app the sauce on them was gross and they def weren't in egg roll shells. Customer service was great didn't have to ask for refills rolls or anything she was on point. App stunk and all the salads on the bar were awful is why I'm giving a 3 I would try a different app for sure and maybe they would have fresh salads on the salad bar. read more

Super solid place. My earliest experience with them was on the tail end of Covid so it was take out only. Very high quality packaging and everything was clearly cooked to order. We had just stopped in for lunch - my wife, daughter, and I, and we were thrilled with fast seating great bread (wonderful butter and my wife loved the cinnamon butter), and we thought the salad bar was a great value as it was included with our meals. I had my first ever visit to Cattleman's today and it was pretty good overall. As soon as you walk in you will be greeted by an attentive host/hostess who will show you to your seat. They will of course verify the that the seat they have chosen for you is ok. You will soon be greeted by your server who will get your drink order taken. Soft drinks are pretty high priced so consider the water. As you look through your menu, you will find a significant variety of choices. Ranging from mozzarella wedges to sandwiches to a 20oz steak! Don't forget to give very serious consideration to the lunch menu which seemed to have pretty good deals. My coworker ordered a crispy chicken wrap with fries (he was kind enough to let me photograph it!). He however didn't order before me. He talked me into ordering the steak they have dubbed "the sheriff". This is a 20oz sirloin steak served with one side of your choice. It's also $26. My coworker talked me into this all the while knowing he was going cheap with a 7.99 wrap. Ugh For those of you wondering, NO I did not finish the steak in one sitting. However, I'm having it for dinner tonight! I'd vote for you to check this place out. The worst that can happen is that you end up turning your lunch into two meals! Oh, as a side note, they only get 4 stars because they withhold the rolls until AFTER you order. I don't know if this is to ensure you are starving when you order or if it's to make sure you actually order instead of just eating bread. Either way, I didn't like it. I've been to this Cattleman's location more times than I can count. It's located off the Shelbyville Taylorsville exit, near the movie theater. Parking is convenient as they have a large parking lot. Today we visited for lunch. We were greeted by a masked hostess and sat immediately. Our waitress was great throughout our meal. She was very attentive and friendly. My kids had steak/Mac and cheese and I had the crispy chicken wrap. Normally the wrap is super good, but it missed the mark for me today. The chicken tasted like it had been microwaved. Normally it's super crispy. It was also wrapped kind of weird. Regardless, I'll still be back. My Mom loves eating lunch here. read more
