I recently dined at Outback, and overall, it was a pretty good experience with a few highlights and a couple letdowns. I ordered a ribeye steak cooked medium, coconut shrimp, mashed potatoes, and loaded potato soup. The steak was cooked really well--tender and flavorful. The loaded potato soup was absolutely delicious, rich, and comforting. However, the coconut shrimp fell flat for me--it was bland and not what I expected. To add to that, the server initially brought grilled shrimp by mistake. That said, they quickly fixed the order and didn't charge me for the extra shrimp, which was a nice gesture. It felt like a "two-in-one" moment, even if the coconut shrimp didn't impress. I also ordered a raspberry refresher, and I was pleasantly surprised by both the taste and the value. For only $3.99, it was served in a large soda glass, which was a great deal. The free loaf of bread was also a nice touch--definitely filling if you want to skip appetizers! The total meal came out to about $40, which was reasonable for the amount of food. While the steak and soup were great, I wouldn't order the coconut shrimp again. Next time, I'd consider going during lunch or trying one of their $14.99 three-course deals, since the prices can add up quickly depending on what you order. read more

I love Outback!! But most of all, I'm thrilled they brought the Ahi Tuna back as a meal!! It's my new obsession!! I don't know what made me try it the first time because I'm not adventurous in my eating. Servers have friendly smiles and are very helpful. The TO Go here is AMAZING! I do a ton of yo go with many different restaurants and the Outback at Fern Creek is THE BEST! Dan works the To GO and the order is always right! Hostess and manager greet you at door, helps us with accessibility issues with ease, and the wait staff and food is excellent. They have it all!!! They had a special...grilled chicken, salad, baked potato and cheesecake for $15. A $45 meal for $15. We all enjoyed our food!! And raved about the impeccable service overall!!! It's not often that we go into a restaurant and get our accommodating table as they handled it here. We felt like we were at friends home who have known us for years. Came in for dinner tonight. Started with the fried shrimp which were very yummy. Salty, but I like salt. I ordered the 6oz filet with broccoli and a potato. I added garlic butter which was a yummy decision. Honestly one of the best steaks I've had in a while even compared to higher end restaurants. My husband filet however, was a bit fatty which is strange for the cut. He got the steak with lobster tail. I was thrilled to see the ahi tuna back on the menu, but now it's an entree? Okay sure. It came out on a bed of iceberg lettuce which was a very strange choice to me?? I think they should change that up. Maybe a tiny bit of spring mix, but not a heaping of iceberg salad mix. Met cousins for lunch. The menu is comprehensive and the choices on the menu for a full meal included everything from burgers, steak, chicken to ribs. With these meals you pick your entree, a soup or salad, a side item and a piece of cheesecake. Not a bad deal for chicken tenders and french fries, salad and a dessert. However, the chicken tenders were too spicy for our taste (my husband and i split), the housemade french dressing was also too tangy for me and the fries were served cold. But the waitress did bring me hot fries upon request. The cheesecake was the best part of the meal and came with a raspberry topping. Service was good, nice atmosphere, plenty of parking, and it was not loud which made it nice to visit. We didn't have to wait long for a table. The waiting area was OK, but they had a stand of almost empty gift cards near the front door. That should be filled or removed. Also it needed dusting/cleaning at the bottom. My filet was a bit chewy, but my husband reminded me I ordered it medium rare, but I have also done that at "expensive" restaurants and it wasn't as chewy or hard to cut. The French fried onions did not look as pleasing as the menu picture; they were small and scattered. The loaded baked potato and broccoli I got with it was good. I was surprised how long the broccoli kept its temp. I ordered the margarita flight and it was fantastic! The prices on all the items were very reasonable. Our waitress was excellent. I had not been to this location or any Outback in 5 years. I typically don't eat at chain restaurants, but for what we were doing in Louisville this day, this was convenient. The area is a bit sketchy, with the boarded up, vacant restaurants you pass to get here and the blinking outdoor lights of the hotel next door that give you stranger danger vibes. Outback is a long time Louisville staple. And for good reason. They have good steaks and other nice options with a diverse menu. This location is pretty close to my house and actually deliver so during covid I have taken advantage of that. My go to meal is the ribeye with a side of wild rice and French fries. Outback at this location has always been a good experience. Received a warm welcome upon arrival. Friendly staff, clean and a always have received good food! This time was not the exception! We saw all the staff wearing gloves and face mask. We appreciated all the precaution on keeping all the customer safe and welcome. I waited 10 minutes after what I hoped wasn't my food sitting there in the window as these 2 fat pigs sat in there and ate food and ignored us instead of bringing us our food. Several times these 2 fat pigs would look out at me sitting in my car calming my newborn down as our food sat there in the window. Asked for the ranch they forgot to put in bag and they said "of course" watched them walk back in and stand there for 5 more minutes eating before they went to the back then it took 7 more minutes of them being back there to the point where I just left. The one star is because, as a LOYAL Customer of this location for MANY years, I am very disappointed at how the Corporate Office is behaving towards their Employees. I don't know why they changed the System, but the SERVERS are incredibly important people. ALL of the Employees are Important but it is the SERVERS that are the ones that spend the most time with the customers, before, during and after their visit and meal. Apparently the Corporate Office thinks it is just fine to make SERVERS pay on certain things and also to have to divide ALL their TIP MONEY with other workers. Pay your other workers whatever you need to but LEAVE THE SERVERS ALONE. The ones that really KNOW their impact on whether or not a Customer/Guest has a great dining experience is the SERVER. YES, I appreciate the COOKS because the food is Delicious. PAY YOUR KITCHEN STAFF. Pay your Hostess. Pay your food runners and PLEASE remind the food runners to ASK if their is anything else that is needed before they zoom away from the Table! My husband had to WAIT until halfway through his meal to get a condiment that the SERVER brought to him when she realized the RUNNER had not even asked if we needed anything else. ALSO - DO NOT TELL ME, Mr. or Mrs. Corporate Office that you need to make a profit margin and you need to raise your prices AGAIN in order to accommodate because that just isn't true. Never hold a customers credit card for over 10 minutes. It got so bad. I had to go in there to figure why they were holding it that long. Once I got there. For starters, the blooming onion was only cooked on the outer layer. The remaining layers the tips were very browned and the inside was undercooked or raw. Looked and tasted like it had been fried in heavily used 3 day old oil. The salmon was one step away from being jerky, very over cooked. My baked potato was as hard as a baseball, guessing it was cooked earlier in the day, then put somewhere to keep it warm for like 8 hours, at least that's what it felt and looked like. They were already out of crab legs at 5 PM on a Tuesday evening. I will not be eating at any Outback restaurant again after this experience. By far one the worst almost $50 meals I've ever had.
