I can't say enough good things about my experience here on Saturday. The food, service and overall experience was amazing mostly because of our server Victoria who went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed and always did it with the most friendly smile on her face. The place seemed to be very busy but we still had our food and drinks brought out to us very quickly and Victoria made sure to keep checking on us which really made us feel like she was on it. The steak and potato were cooked perfectly and the flavor was amazing! I'll definitely be coming back here and hopefully having a similar experience. read more

Husband and I went on a Friday evening and had a time limit. Once we were seated our server was amazing and made sure we got everything in a timely manor so we could eat and enjoy on a time crunch! We made a reservation here for New Years day in the evening around 7pm, of course we expected it to be busy, no problem. we can wait. The food was awesome the servers were all friendly, although I could tell they were stressed out. However the man that greeted us at the front was a tall man I did not get his name but his badge said "Kitchen Manager". EXTREMELY disrespectful. He berated one of his employees that came to the front to ask a question. He disgustingly replied to her " woah woah what the hell do you think you're doing, don't you see we are in the middle of a conversation?!" along with some other comments. Mind you the place was PACKED, and many other customers heard him publicly embarrass this young girl. If this is how he is running the kitchen out in the open I feel terrible for the workers here behind doors. Cattlemen's please reconsider who you hire to run this restaurant. read more

Amazing friendly staff. Our waitress was funny and very attentive. We were a party of 10. The bread holy moly so delicious! I coulda eaten at least 4 rolls of it. Each one felt like it was right outta the oven. The salad was ok. Its a basic lettuce crouton dressing salad with some tomatoes. It did the job and its endless like the bread so A++ for that. The mashed potatoes I ordered were on point. I got the 6oz Filey Mignon. Which i could say was just ok. It wasnt bad its just when your fave Filet Mignon is from Bobos in San Francisco its like comparing French Laundry to Mcdonalds. Also 6oz isnt worth the $25 theyre chargin people for it. However i did try their Petes Special and wow! Def getting that next time for sure. It was crazy delicious. I also got to try their beans which was flavored in a smokey rustic way with just the right seasoning. -1 star for the lack luster filet mignon but 4+ stars for the service and the rest of the food. I have never been disappointed with the food or service at Cattlemens. Their Prime Rib is my favorite and is so tender you can cut it with a fork. Our server tonight was Rackelli and she was great. Excellent steaks! Great service! But our car got broken into along with other cars. Police said it wasn't first time that cars got broken into, and refer broken glasses as "Cattlemen's diamonds". If this is not the first time then why don't they increase security like hire a watchman -- clearly they don't care about their customers soon we walk out the place. I've been going to this restaurant ever since I was a young kid. I'm grown now. I must say that I appreciate the food sooo much more now. I love the food! The service I've received has been GRAND! they were prompt personable but not too intrusive. Being a California girl I love the old west decor. I didn't give it 5stars simply because of the other patrons. They were a bit annoying it felt like I was in Wal-Mart. I must say though, they know where the good food it is. Lobster was cooked perfect, not chewy. My medium steak was cooked perfectly and was like buttery pillows. My salad was cold and crisp all my food was hot! My drinks actually tasted like alcohol. Once i started eating that steak I forgot all about the less than civilized patrons. I will always go back there. read more

One of the better steakhouses in the area. I've never ordered something that I didn't like. I always enjoy the bluecheese bread for an app. Their homemade bluecheese is nice balance of salt and a little bit of sweet. It is great on this bread, but also try it with the salad. I almost always get the sheriff steak (cooked medium). It's a huge 2 pound sirloin ($25) that is adged and well-seasoned. I think it comes with vegetables and a potato, but I usually spend the entire time eating the steak. The steak sauce is also very tasty (kind of a combination of A1 and a barbeque sauce). I love the ice tea here and the drinks from the bar are always top notch. You really have to go early to eat if you like to eat in a quiet environment, because at around 7pm it gets really crowded and extremely noisy. read more

It would be 4-stars if I was not there with the waitress. I normally order Tri-tip, baby pork back rib, and prime rib. Their food is very good with reasonable price. The downside was the service. I knew that may be a very busy time as it's Friday evening. But it 's not an excuse to give me very bad impression. The waitress come and picked up the plates, before we got into entree. She dropped a big piece of food onto me. I thought she did not notice it and never apologized. Water refilling man was not often stop by our table and we need to call him many times. And at the end, they ended up charging me more than what I wrote down in the bill. I knew that I may give a low tip, but with that kind of service I could not give them more. read more

Went last minute with a sizable group (on a Friday night) and the staff worked hard to find us a spot. We were seated in 20 minutes. Throughout the night staff was on point; very attentive and courteous regardless of how busy it was. Food was good...baby back ribs, salad, kids steak, etc etc...I can't remember what everyone had but here wasn't a single complaint. Cattlemens is great! We like to make a pit stop in Dixon when traveling between the bay and Sacramento. I really enjoy the rustic atmosphere and the salad with the honey mustard dressing, cracked peppercorn, and piled with the tumbleweed onions! The prime rib is always my other half's go to... It's always phenomenal! Every time we go here this place is packed, our waitress Christina is our favorite! She always does a great job, she is friendly, always makes sure we have everything we need and checks in even though the restaurant is slammed. The reason I give Cattlemens 1 Star is because service was horrible. When you pay and arm and a leg for a steak you want to make sure it was cooked right. The server never asked can you cut into your steak to see how it was cooked. I asked for to have a Medium cook and it was cooked well. When you get a quality steak you want some flavor right, don't need to get A1 sauce or another steak sauce. This steak was so bland I thought I needed to add some type of seasoning to make it flavorful. Who ever voted the best steakhouse in the West must have an empty pallet. This place disappoints me every time we go there. For a steak house, their meat is not good. They hear things up in the microwave so the beef is always overdone. I was able to enjoy a beer and peanuts in the waiting area with very interesting people. The staff service was very good from the time seated until our leaving. Got the NY steak it was juicy. Beans they give you are over seasoned. My margarita tasted water downed with almost more than half a cup of ice in it. I didn't even drink all of it so I wasted my money on that. The bread they give you in the beginning was so soft and warm I didn't want to get full on bread. Last Saturday was my birthday and we decided on a road trip to Sacramento area for the weekend. Since we would be staying in Dixon I saw that there was a Cattlemens in town and knew I wanted to go there for my birthday dinner. We miss the Reno Cattlemens that closed years ago and hoped this would be a great experience. I took the advise of fellow people on Yelp and made a reservation and we were glad we did! The place was packed at 5:20 when we arrived for a 5:30 reservation. The host gave me a pager and said " we will try to get you in on time for you reservation". I thought "on no" as there were at least 50 people waiting to get in. We walked outside to look at the posted menu and the pager went off immediately. We were seated and waited on immediately. Our ordered drinks were served quickly (very large mugs of fresh iced tea) and our attentive waitress took our orders. I took pause when ordering my filet as I have had issues with how to order it. I love a medium steak with just pink in the middle. Most of the time it comes to my plated overlooked, so I have been ordering medium rare, however this being a steakhouse known for its accuracy I ordered it medium. Our salads were delivered and the fixings were very fresh and satisfying. My steak and baked potato were served quickly and the steak was perfectly cooked and soooo tender and flavorful. My husbands New York was perfect also. We splurged and shared a bowl of sorbet for desert. Wow. Everything was great and made for a memorable birthday dinner. My only concern was for the 50 people waiting outside. There were numerous large tables near us during our meal that were never filled. Not enough servers? Slow service, forgot items on order, received appetizers after meals arrived, a fly sized bug in salad and manager never arrived to apologize or offer another item, shrimp scampi was disgusting, and finally my daughters lobster tail smelled and tasted like urine. When we complained, quietly I might add, the kitchen manager arrived stating it was just undercooked. Sorry friend but lobster that is raw does not smell like urine.
