I've been here twice now, and feel this is an honest assessment of what to expect Staff: Extremely courteous and helpful. I've felt welcomed from the very first instance I've come through the door. Food: On both occasions I've had the Fried Chicken and Fried Catfish, along with some French Fries. While I think the Fried Chicken is good, it just doesn't hit me the way I would like. While it is cooked perfectly inside and out, it just lacks something for me. The Fried Catfish on the other hand, is on point. Cooked perfectly again and just wonderful flavor and seasoning. Fries are right up there, too. I haven't tried anything else at this point, but I imagine that there are probably no real disappointments from here. I'm a big boy and portions are more than enough. Ambience: I had to mark this down a bit. While it is not bad, it's nothing special either. Tables and chairs, and a few decorations and TVs. The place is extremely clean which is something you can never take for granted. Intangibles: The Owner...This guy is full of energy and just puts out a real positive vibe. He knows customers by name, and just seeing the repeat customers tells me the place is good. After both visits my interactions with him just leave me feeling good, which is something that's hard to find these days. Definitely a spot that's on my consistent "go to" list now. read more

i most definitely wouldn't recommend this place. drove all the way from sacramento. 1. the prices they charge and the prices plastered on their menu don't match. 2. the food is not appetizing i had the spaghetti it was dry with burnt areas i just stop eating it. 3. the peach cobbler is just nasty if they didn't say it was peach cobbler i wouldn't of guessed it 4. their cakes are just gross we tried 2 different ones and it gave a off dry taste to them. i don't know how long they sit the show case but it doesn't taste new or fresh. 5. it took forever to get our food i get it made to the order but for it to be dry like it was the service could of stopped cooking it earlier. read more

I had a decent experience at Sharkey's, but the meal was a bit of a mixed bag. Starting with the positives, the chicken wings were well-prepared and very flavorful, and the catfish was also quite good and well flavored. Both proteins were definitely the highlight of the meal. However, the sides left something to be desired. The red beans and rice, the rice was unfortunately undercooked, which made the texture a bit tough. Additionally, while some might enjoy a sweeter side, the cornbread tasted more like a cake than traditional cornbread. It's a solid spot if you're looking for good mains, but the consistency of the sides could use some improvement. read more

My husband & I came here on Fri 9/11 for an early dinner around 4pm. We placed our order at the register with Doorev. I had seen others posting about some items being overly salty, so I specifically asked him 2 times not to put any added salt. I got the 2 piece Catfish meal $14, with a side of coleslaw. I also got an order of Garlic Noodles $15. My husband got a Catfish Po'boy sandwich $15. He also ordered Red Beans/Rice $8 The food took about 20 mins since it's made fresh. My Catfish came out sitting on 2 slices of wheat bread. It was hot, but kind of tough. They only give you plastic utensils, and I had to ask for a plastic knife to cut the catfish, which was still difficult. The tarter sauce is served in a plastic bottle for each table, which I'm not a fan of for obvious sanitary reasons, especially these days. The catfish looked like it had a white powdery substance on top which tasted a bit salty. I took one bite of the Garlic Noodles & couldn't beleive how SALTY they were!! Obviously they either didn't bother listening to my previous request, or they made them ahead of time. My husband enjoyed his Catfish Po'boy, but he tasted the Red Beans/Rice and said they're SALTY!! This restaurant is more fast food than dine-in and they package to-go orders perfectly. Our fried chicken and fries was packaged so the chicken wouldn't get soggy during our drive home. We had fried chicken, fried catfish, red beans and rice and fries. The food was delicious. The service was outstanding. I ordered through the app. That was nice and easy. When we arrived, it was easy to go inside and pick up my order. I ordered the Jumbo Fried Shrimp with a side of cheesy grits. I dropped the order off for a friend. She offered a taste of each. Oh my! The grits were creamy, cheesy and buttery goodness! The shrimp was crunchy and well seasoned. Giving a 4 star but some areas 5 - Service was order at counter, they brought food to us (we dined in) and was an easy experience. Ambiance is of a fast food style spot, seating about 5 tables similar to a cafe. They do have what look like homemade baked goods, which I did not try but they did look reallly good. Food - chicken flavor was not my favorite, it was good but not great. I swapped some chicken with my friend who ordered the cod fish and chips and that fish was amazing. The batter was spicy and light and delicious, wish the same flavor was on the chicken. Fries were decent, I got garlic fries and the cost to upgrade was a bit more than I thought it would be, but reasonable. They were a good flavor but the garlic sauce caused the fries not to be as crunchy/crisp as they could be. Portion size is good, very filling food. Only ate 1 fish, and 2 pieces of chicken (all my fries) and was full. Drink selection ok, but I'm an unsweetened ice tea guy and they didn't have any today (also hoped they'd have a special ice tea based on their menu but they didn't). I had been following Sharky's on instagram for a while and finally got to try it. Sharky's did not disappoint. Everything was perfectly crispy, but super moist. The chicken in the po boy was so delicious and all the sauces that they put combined so well with the chicken and other ingredients that they put inside. The calamari was perfectly cooked along with the whiting fish fillets. The decoration in the restaurant was super fun and the staff have been friendly each time. The food comes out pretty fast considering they are doing everything from scratch. Oooh and the fries are bomb too!! You definitely have got to try Sharky's out if you have a fish fry craving. read more

The most flavorful item was the prawns but they were practically burned. The beans and rice weren't bad I just prefer more rice than beans. The fish was fried perfectly! Unfortunately it had no flavor. I added vinegar, hot sauce, and tarter sauce to no avail. The tarter sauce didn't have much flavor either. There was plenty of food though. This is the worst restaurant food I have had in Vacaville in the 23 years I have lived here. I ordered two catfishfillet andcoleslaw. The catfish was nearly inedible. The fish itself might have been OK but the coating was both overly crisp at the ends and rubbery everywhere else.. The overly crisp edges leftcrumbs all over the place. But the rest of the coating along the edges in particular was so rubbery that I had to chew and chew and chew! In addition, this fish was so salty, that alone would've been enough to give a negative rating. As I said, the fish was virtually inedible being so rubbery and salty. The coleslaw was made from fresh cabbage, I will give it that much positive Feedback. And the dressing didn't taste too bad, but there was excessive amount of it. I ate a little bit of the coleslaw and then took the rest home to let it drip through a strainer before finishing it. The coleslaw was not too salty. Oh, and I didn't mention another very significant negative. I waited 30 minutes for this meal!! When I finally got it, the fish wasn't really all that hot. Maybe it wouldn't have been so rubbery if I had been served sooner. Overall, I will never go to this restaurant again. Been eyeing Sharkys for a while. First time here and it was legit. Let me start with the bad... the greens could have used a bit more flavor. Basically tasted like beef broth, greens and salt. I was hoping for a little more. The cat... mmmm... maybe call it a 3pc kitten meal. There's a spot in EPA Jonathan's Fish and chips who's 2pc gave me more than the 3pc here. I like the batter style a little better than cornmeal but kinda miss the nostalgia of it all. But the winner of the show was def the fries... gahdammit... those are probably the best fries in Solano County... solid AF. Definitely coming back and better than some of the other cat options here. This was a good lunch with filling portions--3.5 rating. We decided to try this place out for a pitstop lunch. The restaurant was clean with sea-themed decor & a big ocean mural. There was also a tv playing The Amazing World of Gumball. We ordered at the counter, but had some questions. While the man who we placed our order with tried to be helpful, he had to ask the other worker there for answers. We seated ourselves. It's a spacious place & there were no other diners there. Still, it took a long time to get our food--around 25 minutes. Once it came out, the food looked good & well put together. The 3-piece order of Red Snapper came with fries & a piece of white bread. It was ok, but it was thin & had some dry, overcooked bites. The Catfish Po'boy was huge! The fish itself was thick & moist, the vegetation (lettuce, tomatoes, & pickles) was fresh, & the bread was substantial, but soft. The sauces on the fish added a lot of flavor. Hush Puppies were tasty & had good texture, but were salty. Cold squeeze bottles of Tartar Sauce with lots of pickle & very tasty Ranch were provided. Don't get me wrong, the food was fresh for sure but just a bit too overdone. 10 piece chicken wings - these are whole chicken wings you guys! They serve this in a small foil tray over a bed of fries. This alone will feed a family of 4 for about $25isshhh bucks, not a bad deal at all! I will say I think I like the seasoning on the chicken at JJs a bit more, IYKYK, but I would still come back for the chicken here. The fries here are the good ones, super crispy. I just wish they had other dipping options like ranch or honey mustard to pair with them. They do give you a good amount of hot sauce and ketchup if you want it (yes I want it). The ketchup is just a basic packet kind, not Heinz, but it'll do. Half order catfish nuggets - these also come with fries! The serving size for the nuggets was a little small, but the real issue was they were just so dry. I love a good catfish nugget but I like them thicker and meatier, so they don't get dried out in the fryer. I'll probably give the fish plate a try in the future instead of the nuggets. The tartar sauce they provide is really good though, and tastes home made. I love how chunky it is! With a little hot sauce mixed in, you got a bomb lil dip. Hushpuppies- flavor was good and I liked them with the tartar sauce but again, just fried too hard. I prefer a fluffier, less dense pup myself. & because you can't have dinner without dessert, we chose 3 slices of cake to try. These are not home made cakes, all the local spots get theirs from Marita's Pies. Typically, this isn't an issue, but all the cakes we got were SOOOOOO dry. This was really disappointing considering they're $6 a slice :( Normally we love the yellow cake with chocolate frosting, caramel cake (my fav), and double chocolate but the cake part of each of these were no bueno. This is our first time picking these cakes up here, so not sure if they were old or the bakery itself has just gone downhill but I'll be hesitant to get these again in the future. I get it the fine cornmeal batter isn't my favorite... so I don't get that crunchy bite. Tater sauce looks like thousand Island dressing but tastes pretty good actually. We have gotten some of the best fish and chips while in sacramento. They have such a huge variety here. We ordered the catfish nuggets, the oysters, the breaded cod, fries, fried zucchini, red beans and rice, candied sweet potato, and of course fried chicken wings. We figured that was a good variety to start with. The oysters we super yummy, as was the fried chicken wings and the catfish nuggets. I love that this place didn't use the same breading on everything. It was such a nice variety. The red beans and rice had some heat to it, my husband loved it, but my parents don't like spicy. I didn't see clam strips on the menu, but those are one of my faves I would have liked to have seen. They did have alligator and frog legs on their specials. I said I'll be back, didn't know it would be less than 24 hours!! Today while driving, I was thinking of what I would have for lunch/dinner. Looking at the menu for Sharky's online, I decided to try something new. I called in my order for Garlic Noodles and an order of Fried Shrimp. The Garlic Noodles were delicious, which was expected given that everything I've tried so far has been incredible. Buttery, with the perfect balance of garlic to compliment the noodles makes this one of my new favorite dishes. The Fried Shrimp is another favorite, fried perfectly and seasoned well. The tartar sauce they provided was exactly what the doctor ordered to take the shrimp over the top. The Sweet Potato Cake was the perfect ending to a delicious dinner! Had a really great experience here. We've placed a few quick takeout orders before, usually just the chicken wings but for my husband's birthday, I put in a larger order earlier this week. We ordered wings, catfish, shrimp, and several sides (mac and cheese, greens, yams, and red beans and rice), and everything was fresh and delicious. The food was well seasoned without being overly salty, and my husband and his family were especially impressed with the catfish. The service was great as well, the staff was super friendly and helpful. Overall, we were very happy with the experience, and it made catering a casual birthday dinner incredibly easy. We were graciously served the most delicious fish, fries, macaroni salad, and hush puppies! The fish was perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection. Our food was served hot. The fries were crispy and delicious! The hush puppies were fabulous and the macaroni salad was great as well. Sal served us with a smile, greeted us so warmly and definitely service was top-notch. It is not what you would call a typical restaurant setting but the place is neat and tidy and very welcoming. I recommend this business highly. I placed my order online for pickup. Their estimated time was very accurate. When I picked up they politely asked for a few minutes to finish preparing. While I was en route they called and informed me they were out of hush puppies so I change it to cheese sticks. I ordered the Shrimp and fried! AMAZING! Wow. The wait felt like forever. Came here on a Thursday night around 9:15 pm. Ordered catfish and rice and beans . Alligator poboy. It is now 10:04 but we have not gotten our food yet. In the meantime , we got the corn bread which was super dry. And the sweet potato pie which was ok , a little too much flavor. The restroom is very clean. Parking is a breeze. On the road again and decided we needed fried chicken! Did a search and came up with Sharky's... Ok let's give it a try! First - Basic but VERY clean eat-in area. Next - the people were VERY friendly (all smiling and happy) making it a pleasant first impression. Finally - THE FOOD!! We ordered the 2 wing/leg/thigh with fries and as my son said between bites "This is what fried chicken is supposed to be like!". Light and flavorful BUT not heavy coating (nice)... SUPER juicy and hot (made fresh)... hot sauce that is a perfect pairing with the salty bite of the chicken. JUST AMAZING! The only negative is now we have to wait a little bit for our next road trip so we can come back to try the fish!!! Hmmm.... maybe we'll just need to plan a road trip to SHARKY'S CHICKEN & FISH.
