Have not been to a Cattlemens in a long time. We were very happy. The service was frequent, friendly, and accomodating. I ordered the prime rib (on recommendation from a busser) and asked if their "Medium" was really all pink and they said yes and it was perfect. If you order blue cheese dressing they will offer blue cheese crumblies to go with your salad and it was great. I didn't like their blue cheese dressing though. They said they "thought" their butter was real butter, but no one seemed totally sure. We got the kids rib dinner for our chid and 2 big beef ribs with a bunch of red skin potatoes came and he was very satisfied. DH got a rack of baby back ribs but said they were dry and tough. I can highly recommend eating here when you're passing on hwy99 or staying in Selma. I can't recommend eating NY steak across the highway at Spike N Rail at the Holiday Inn. I sent it back because it was charred and it came back Med/Well. They covered the baked potato in some crushed salt too. The breakfasts here are not very tasty either. Traveling from Yosemite/Wawona home to San Diego and needed a place to stop for dinner. Hostesses were courteous and pleasant on a very busy Friday night. Waited about twenty minutes. Waitress (Ashley) was kind, fast, and efficient, despite also having a large eight-top party seated just after us. Large portioned meals were very good! My two boys (9 & 11) shared a beef rip platter which was plenty for their growing appetites. Prime rib and rib eye were juicy and tender with just the right amount of seasoning for both my husband and myself; the horseradish gives quite a kick. The only negative is the cost. A bit more than we would normally spend on a meal, but given that we just came from camping, hiking, and living on PB&J and cup of noodle for the past three days, the splurge was worth it! read more

I was waiting patiently for clam chowder that I have been craving for the entire day and I was informed by the waitress after sitting patiently that they did not have clam chowder. I have come here about 6 times in the last 7 years for an annual work dinner/late lunch. It is a basic place, nothing stands out. It isn't that it is bad, there is just nothing to it. We have been here three times. Nothing special. Not at all. Overpriced for what it is. My husband's steak was waaaay overcooked and the crab legs were cold. I was again disappointed when we attempted on New Years Eve with a reservation to have a nice dinner. We received a gift card from the because they were out of porterhouse steaks and sweet potatoes. This was a few months ago. We were sent a gift card and decided to go for NYE. It wasn't packed but we ordered. The salad and bread came out before we even got our appetizer. I mean right before dinner. My husband ordered the porterhouse steak which turned out to be a fattyTBoneWaitress told me they were out-out of triple threat brochettes of beef. The Manager Joe came over and said they were making some up. We asked the gal for more salad and she brought dressing and no salad. They took the TBone back which we were charged for Porterhouse and brought another TBone out. We will never go back there and especially to make the drive. Horrible service and and not correct order. Visited on a Friday night, arrived at 5:30, greeted by everyone as we entered. Staff is very friendly, we were seated immediately. The booth in the main dining room was comfortable and had plenty of room for all three of us. Hostess informed us who our waitress would be, let us know the specials and offered us the drink menu. Our waitress was very attentive, friendly and made us feel welcome and valued. Our food was served in a timely manner and cooked perfectly. We've eaten here at least twice in the last year and many times over the years, never had a problem with there service or their food. Pricy yes but the food has always been good last time I got grilled shrimp had plenty of food, my husband got the steak he's a meat eater and he says it was delicious. One thing for sure being a diabetic they went out of there way to make sure my meal was what I could eat. I have no complaints about their service or food. I know we'll go back if nothing else for special occasions. Yes it can get very noisy inside not only in the bar area but even in the restaurant area especially on the weekends. I like their decor makes it look and feel more like a western style place. Their beans are end less so is their salad,bread sticks kept coming. You get more then enough food, if you leave there hungry it'll be your own fault with what they put out on a plate. I'd recommend at least giving it a try then make you own decision. If I could give ZERO STARS I would!! I Was just there for Father's Day. Made a reservation for 6pm and when I arrived 10 mins earlier the host told me they were running behind! 8 other parties ahead of me. I waited in my car because there were crowds of people. 45mins later we got a text saying our table was ready. They sat us down .. then we waited another 40mins just for drinks!!! Our server was Megan and she was very stressed out. I could tell she couldn't handle her section. We ordered my daughter's food right away because who knew how long that was going to take. But when she took our order we order an appetizer and 2 entrées and drinks from the bar. When all of our food came out..I asked her why our app never came out.. she said "oh yeah..I'm sorry." I told her forget it..Please take it off the bill!! And that's all she had to say about it. We ordered steaks .. we had no salt, pepper, or A1!! She never came to check on us!! My steak got cold by the time someone finally brought this stuff to us. When I asked her for sour cream.. she literally dropped it and ran! I've been in the service industry and this service was horrible!! We didn't even get a table touch from the manager. She could have turned it around if she offered to take care of desserts or discount on the bill. She didn't care to make things right! I won't be going back for awhile. They're not fully staffed.. and because of that your experience and dinner will suffer for it! Was treated very poorly by the front. Waited for over an hour and was never seated. Assistant manager came out when he found out we were leaving and was incredibly rude, patronizing, and dismissive. I suggested a policy for letting guests know when their wait time will exceed what their told and expecting. This was a kind suggestion considering I had had enough and was already quite angry with our treatment. He looked directly at me and said, "A policy, HMMM" then turned away from me and would not engage with me anymore. No thank you. $20 food with $1 service. Absolute best filet mignon I have ever had!! I am not much of a meat eater, But every now and then I will eat filet mignon. I usually use A1 but not this time. If you love cumin on everything you eat, this is the place to go. I had the ribeye and the seasoning overpowered the natural flavor of the beef. I ordered it medium rare and still found it to be a little tuff to eat. It wasn't horrible. Its just not what I expected. My kids all had chicken and found the same to be true with the chicken. I give this restaurant one star because ginger beer, the complimentary bread, and the honey-chipotle corn on the cob were delicious. That was the only highlights of the evening. If not for that, I would have given this establishment zero stars. Firstly, we were seated in a reasonable amount of time but waited quite some time for our order to be taken. After placing our order, we waited nearly an hour for our food to arrive. We were a party of five so I knew that it would take a little more time but the two booths across from us came after us, received their food before us, and left before us. I ordered the steak and shrimp with vegetables and it arrived cold. Also, my waitress kept asking me if I wanted a refill on my drink but didn't tell me that I would be charged for each one. She also gave me a choice of vegetables and I chose the sautéed mushrooms. That was also extra which she failed to tell me. I paid for the bill and already disappointed in the experience, decided to review my receipt when I got home. That's when I realized all of the extra charges. My husband and I went to Cattlemens on Saturday evening. It was our first time dining at this restaurant. Although the restaurant was quite busy our wait time to be seated and our food arrival time was amazing. Our server Stefan was great. He was very attentive and kept our drinks flowing. My husband and I both ordered the Rustler ribeye and it was absolutely amazing and so flavourful. The manager David stopped by our table to check on us and make sure everything was fine. I would rate the food at 1.5 stars and the service at 2.5 stars. We made reservations for a party of 10 on a Saturday night to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. It was my family and his family going out for surprise birthday dinner, and they chose the restaurant and I figured why not since my family had never eaten there. They're known for their steaks so as a fellow steak lover how bad could it be. Boy was I wrong. Fortunately for our reservation and large party size, they honored our reservation time slot and we were seated pretty quickly for a party of 10. Other than that it all went down hill from there. Our server was hit or miss. He was terrible at pre-bussing our table, but pretty good at refilling all of our drinks. We had ordered appetizers, salads & soups, and even before our steak entrees were out our dirty plates continued to stack up on the table. It was kinda disgusting as our entrees hit the table with all of the other dirty plates still remaining. I don't think any of our plates from the entire meal (apps and soups/salads included) were pre-bussed until the end of the meal. But you know what, I can let that slide since our server did a good job making sure all of the drinks were refilled. Here's the main disappointment of our meal: the food. Our apps and soups/salads were alright, just average. I'd rate it a 2.5/3 star. But our main course... Was terrible. Our steak entrees were disgusting. Ordered filet, medium rare. This was the most disgusting filet I've ever had. It was dry, flavorless, and overall it tasted like the meat had gone bad. It was not a juicy medium rare filet I was expecting. Not at all. And on top of that, our food was cold! since we were a party of 10, it seemed like they let almost all the food sit in the window and waited until the entire party's food was ready, and I bet someone's food took like 5-10minutes longer to cook and while they were waiting for that last plate to be ready they let the other 9 entrees suffer waiting on the line. I've worked my fair share at different restaurants and that's usually the explanation when a large party's food comes out cold. My boyfriend and I tried to eat our cold medium rare flavorlessly dry filet, but 3 bites into it we couldn't take it so after our entrees were dropped we both ordered lobster tails because our filet's were such a big disappointment. Our server took our lobster tail orders, and he came back and said it's only be a few minutes for those lobster tails to come out. Well 15-20 minutes went by, and still no lobster tails. Myself as a fellow server, I was getting pretty fed up at this point. Not only did our server fail to come back and check on our party to see how the food turned out, but he also failed with our lobster tail order. Don't tell me it'll only be a few minutes and then fail to keep us updated if the food is going to be longer than your quoted time. The only thing that saved our experience that night was the cake we had brought. They did bring the candles out and cut my boyfriend's birthday cake for us, which I thought was a nice touch. However that did not make up for everything else before. The next day my boyfriend said lets go out for steak again, because he said wanted to get the bad Cattlemen's steak taste out of his mouth. Maybe this restaurant is only good for smaller groups and not parties of 10. But to make a long story short: service was a disappointment and the steak was disgusting. read more
