Literally the best experience at this Cattlemens location! I was so sad that they closed the one closest to us in Petaluma so it's a treat for us to come to this location when we are visiting. As long-time customers, we've always considered Cattlemen's our go-to spot, especially when hosting out-of-town guests. Unfortunately, after our recent experience, we won't be returning anytime soon. On our previous visit, my wife ordered the herb chicken dinner but only ate the chicken, as she can't each much as a result of a medical issue. A staff member at that time suggested that next time she could simply order a chicken breast without the sides. So, during this visit, she requested exactly that--a single chicken breast. I ordered the prime rib, asked for it medium, and it came out very rare. I chose not to send it back, as I generally don't like to make a fuss. When we received the bill, we noticed we had been charged the full dinner price ($25.99) for just the chicken breast. When we asked the server about it, she quickly became defensive and said she had asked the kitchen manager, who insisted on charging the full meal price. We explained that we would have appreciated being told up front, at the time of ordering, that there would be no price adjustment, rather than being surprised by it on the bill. It felt dismissive and disappointing, especially from a place we've supported for so long. My husband and I came into this establishment for the first time in 12 years for a date night. The restaurant was clean and well-kept and we only had to wait for about 5 minutes before being seated. Our server, Jake, was absolutely excellent this evening! He kept our drinks full, offered to keep the menu for a future dessert and kept coming with all the mouthwatering dishes we ordered. We ordered the loaded potato skins for our appetizer. We made sure that it did not come with any ranch, due to my severe egg allergies. Our server brought that out and brought the amazing, mouthwatering sourdough bread out with real butter and our salad with oil and vinegar on the side. We decided to share the 2 lb Sheriff steak and it was cooked to a perfected medium rare. My husband had steamed veggies on the side and I had a baked potato with melted butter and cheese. Traveling south for vacation, we stumbled on this place when we were staring next door at the Holiday Inn Express. Note: staying at HIE there gets you a 10% discount!! Anyway, kind of old fashion feel to the place but the service was excellent! Everyone was friendly and helpful and took really good care of us. Both our dinners were customized and everything came out exactly as requested. Lat but not least. The steaks. I got the petite filet mignon and I truly believe that was the best I ever had. Along with very large and juicy steaks, Cattlemen's has a baked sweet potato with pecan butter which is perfect when you don't feel well but need to eat out while you travel! This became one of my new favorite places to eat! Our server was Candy, she was attentive and kind. She offered great menu suggestions and kept our table stoked with their amazing house sourdough bread. I ordered the Rustlers Rib Eye Steak with mashed potatoes as my side. While we waited for our food, we were served a salad for the table, pot of beans and sourdough bread. The beans are probably their worst thing they serve and would not recommend trying them, but they are served to every table, so we just set them to the side. The salad is tasty and they have an array of salad dressings to choose from, I recommend the house made ranch. I loved my steak and I didn't use any BBQ sauce with my steak. I think their steak doesn't need any sauce because of the seasoning and juiciness of the meat. I chose to add seasoned butter to the top of my steak and that added a lot of flavor too. One thing I have noticed is that they typically under cook the meat, for instance I asked for medium and I was served medium rare. My mother in law asked for medium well and it came out medium. Keep that in mind when you are ordering, we had to send back my mother in laws steak to get cooked more. The ambiance is very homie and has a hunting cabin feel to it, which I appreciate. read more

This is an average chain steakhouse. It's not bad, but not amazing. The meats a little chewy, could use better seasoning, and is still a tad pricey. Well, I haven't been here in 2 1/2 years, before this stupid pandemic thing. The bad news, the gigantic 3/4 pound bacon cheese mushroom burger for $12.99 is not on the happy hour menu anymore. I loved the happy hour deals. But the good news is they still have the happy hour, offered 4-6pm and 9-10pm in the bar only. Cattlemen's now offers a 1/2 lb Bacon cheeseburger with fries for $15.99 in the bar area. I'll have to come back for that! Why I'm really here is Cattlemen's offers raw butcher cut, aged steaks to go. The prices actually didn't look that bad for higher end steaks these days. You just take them home and cook them how you like. Lucky I have a steak expert to cook mine! I posted a pic of the steaks and prices. I went for two of the 14 oz. NY steaks for $15 each. They'll wrap them all nice for you to take home. OK, this works only if you live locally and are gonna take the steaks home and cook sometime soon. I'll tell you what, these were some of the best tasting steaks I ever had. I picked steaks that had the most fat marbling, cause that means tasty juicy! It might be the cook is why they were so good ... he'll say it was! Cooked medium perfect edge to edge, seared and then pink, no transitional brown area. Reverse sear method he called it. Cooked better than it would at Cattlemen's! I'll come back for steaks here again, cause it so way cheaper than eating in the restaurant at full price. Stopped in for dinner on a road trip. We have been to many Cattlemen's locations and it always a good meal. The service was awesome thanks to Christy. She was very attentive and professional. It was a Wednesday night but it was still fairly busy. By the time we left it was a Little noisy but not too bad. Overall the food was great. My wife had the prime rib and I had the rib eye. We did the steak dinner for 2 which was good. The portion a bit overwhelming for me the flavor was great. Thanks again Christy!! read more

Met some friends for dinner in the bar area on Monday night 6/16/25, and it was not a pleasant experience. First problem was the food. My steak tasted ok, but it was really tough and fatty. My mashed potatoes were room temperature. But the big issue was the service. Our server was very rude, and didn't do a good job. Someone at our table had to ask three times for silverware and a salad bowl. One of the times she asked, the server's response was "i have other tables, you're going to have to wait." There were 6 of us, and she only bought out one small serving of beans, salad, and bread for the entire table. And to top it off, when I paid for my dinner (we did separate checks), I paid in cash (everyone else paid with a card) and she didn't even ask if I needed change, she just kept what I gave her. I am heading from Medford Oregon to Ukiah, California and stopped in Redding for dinner. I searched steak places and ultimately decided on Cattleman's, because I've had good experiences everywhere else. It is tough to give four stars, but bear with me. I made a reservation, and they did not seat me immediately. I almost walked out: but, I was five minutes early, so I decided to wait. The wait was maybe three minutes. Not sure what the point of that was. I ordered a martini and it arrived just after I returned from washing my hands. It was nice to be seated in a booth. I ordered a filet and a twice-baked potato. My server Olivia asked what kind of dressing I wanted for my salad. I didn't want a salad, I was not super hungry. I said "Italian" and she very gracefully mentioned they have a vinaigrette. "Perfect!", I reply. Martini was excellent. Salad arrived and it was accompanied by warm bread and butter. The salad was served in a shallow stainless mixing bowl and tongs. So I tossed the salad and filled my bowl. That took half the salad. The probably four ounces of vinaigrette was in something like a gravy boat. It was the perfect amount for the double salad. I ate it all. When my steak and potato arrived it looked amazing. I ordered the only Cabernet Sauvignon on the menu. While I waited for that to arrive, the reason for the minus one star was experienced - the potato tasted strange. Like it had a hint of fish sauce(?). I still ate most of it hoping it would change. Burgers and sirloin steak were extremely tender. Rapid service and wonderful servers and manager. Great prices, highly recommended and worth it during road trips. Came here after a super long road trip, and I don't think my extreme hunger affected this review: this is probably one of the best steaks I've ever had at a steakhouse. We came in at 8:50pm on a Sunday, and I'm surprised there was still a ton of diners (probably due to July 4th). While there were a lot of empty tables, waited around 15 min for a seat, likely due to staffing. Huge thanks to them for accommodating us. For appetizer, we had the artichoke dip. It looked super greasy but once we mixed it up with the bread, you couldn't see the pool of oil on top anymore. We didn't get a bread basket, just the bread that came along with the dip, which was a fresh sourdough. We had the Pete's Special and the filet mignon, both medium rare. Both were cooked to perfection; the filet mignon was so tender! I loved the way my meat was seasoned and how char marks gave it more flavor. I liked how Pete's Special was seasoned compared to the filet mignon. The filet mignon was also supposed to come with fried onions on top, but it was forgotten til the end of the meal. The baked potato was tasty. I was able to get a lavender lemonade as my free drink (which was oddly only a perk of the Pete's Special). You can also get a beer or house wine. My dad got a lemonade. Improvements can be made on cleanliness (we had to clean our plates and utensils when sitting down) and there were a couple of things missing throughout the meal like the bread and onions but it wasn't a big deal, probably just a crowd/logistical issue. The Good: *The steak was delicious and cooked to perfectly to my specifications, medium-rare of course. *Complimentary warm, fresh sourdough bread was simply amazing. *Deep-fried apple pie dessert was fantastic. The cinnamon-sugar coating made it taste like an apple-stuffed churro. *They do take reservation by phone or through the website. *Beer on-tap The Meh: *Waitress was friendly but kind of only did the bare minimum. *No outdoor dining, but if you request a booth, they are plenty high sided and a set apart at a covid-friendly distance. Hadn't been to Cattlemen's in several years but went last Saturday for my 80th birthday with family and was not disappointed. The service was fantastic and extremely friendly and professional. The three rustler ribeyes were cooked to perfection and delicious as was the one prime rib dinner.
