Delicious food for a restaurant that looked nondescript. Ate dinner here twice during a stay at the Doubletree Hilton. Harissa fried chicken was perfectly crisp and well balanced with the fresh salad and naan. Coconut curry salmon was charred perfectly and also well balanced with the sweet coconut curry, rice and quinoa, braised onions, and purple cauliflower. Beautiful presentation. While the service was pretty good and friendly, the food was atrocious! I had something as simple as fish and chips, and it was one large deep-fried shell, surrounded by chopped up, fish, swimming in some sort of yellow sauce that tasted slimy and horrible. The coleslaw was drenched in horseradish, so that wasn't edible either, but at least the fries were OK but who wants to just eat just french fries for dinner? The server was apologetic, but nothing else was done and I paid full price for two bites of a meal I regret. To make matters worse there's nothing around this hotel unless you want to drive somewhere so I ended up paying an outrageous price for snacks at the front desk as dinner. Pumpkin ravioli with a Dungeness crab sauce. Also a coconut salmon with shrimp and purple cauliflower. Sooo satisfying. Finished with a trendy tiramisu made with fresh berries instead of coffee. Carlos was kind, funny, professional, and one of the most knowledgeable waiters I have come across. I work back of the house in a restaurant and am constantly hammered with questions from my servers. "What's in this? What's in that? Is it gluten free?" And the knowledge is usually worse when it comes to dessert. Carlos answered every single question we had right then and there and to my surprise, didn't need to go back into the kitchen to tell me about the gelato they serve. We had great food and thanks to Carlos, a wonderful experience made even better with great service. Whatever you guys are paying this man, he deserves more. What a gem! read more

This restaurant is conveniently located inside the DoubleTree by Hilton, which I had the pleasure of staying in overnight post July 4th weekend. It wasn't busy for a Saturday night, we came down to eat at 7:30pm for a party of 6. For appetizer, we ordered the Caesar salad and Cajun butter shrimp. I didn't have any Caesar salad $8, but my parents said it was good. The Cajun butter shrimp $15 was meh. I didn't taste much Cajun flavor and it wasn't spicy. I don't really like spicy food so it was a blessing that there was no spice but you'll be disappointed if you like spicy food. I ordered the New York Steak with asparagus and bacon blue cheese mashed potatoes $38. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of blue cheese, but it wasn't pungent or overpowering at all. I'm guessing because it was blended in the mashed potatoes. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare. It was tender, juicy and packed with flavor. My sister ordered the Seared Salmon $24 with coconut rice, crispy broccolini and mango-soy glaze. I got to try a few bites of it and the coconut rice was moist and flavorful. The salmon was flaky and seasoned well. My cousin ordered the Shrimp Thai Peanut Noodles which is vegan by the way. Well, vegan if you do not add shrimp. I tried like two bites and the noodles were al dente. The peanut sauce was surprisingly delicious. It was like a healthy Pad Thai. Last but not least, dessert. ESPRESSO. CREME. BRÛLÉE. *standing ovation* It was love at first bite (and every bite after) You could definitely taste the espresso, it was rich and beautifully presented with a flower, leaf and some blackberries (I thin, pictured below. Service was phenomenal. Our server, Dominic was very attentive by refilling our glasses with water without us even asking. It was easy to call him over whenever we needed something. He was very patient even though we asked him for a bunch of things like extra house bread. Ambience of the restaurant has dim lighting, is clean and comfortable. Since the hotel is well kept, the restaurant has the same dynamic. I absolutely recommend this restaurant if you're staying at this hotel. Personally, I think it's a bit pricey, but we had a discount. Thank god for discounts right?! It made the food taste ten times better lol. read more

This unassuming restaurant located on the inside of the Double Tree by Hilton in Sonoma is truly a hidden gem. It's not your run-of-the-mill hotel restaurant. Staff: they are absolutely fantastic. Amy is one of the managers here and she was so accommodating of my nephews wedding. She bent over backwards to help us in anyway she could and really made the location look great. Talk about reacting last minute...simply amazing. The rest of the team; Carlos, Seif and John all participated in making the event such a success!!! Food: the food was amazing!!! I stayed at the Doubletree for 7 days and 6 nights for a training that was held in the hotel. On my first night, I needed just a small bite to eat. I encountered three staff members, all of whom were friendly. I ordered the chorizo flatbread with the promise to order more if I was still hungry. I thought it was a lovely presentation. The dish was described as having "goat cheese crumbles." The execution was a thick smear of goat cheese all over the bread that unbalanced the entire dish. They refer to it as "chorizo flatbread." I'm not sure how they can call it that with 5 razor thin slices of chorizo as garnish. It should have been called arugula goat cheese flatbread topped with chorizo. The server was very nice and offered to bring me something else. It was getting late and I wanted to get to my room so I ate as much as I could (which wasn't much) and got ready to leave. The server gave me a discount that I was neither expecting nor asked for. I appreciated that. The second time I went by was to grab some breakfast. The training I was at provided fruit and pastry but that's all carbs. I require protein. The server came to me and dropped the salt shaker on the floor. She put it right back on the table. Hmmmm. I ordered two eggs and a side order of pork. The server explained to me why I should order the breakfast plate which had what I wanted plus toast and potatoes (the carbs I wasn't interested in eating). When I explained that to her she became annoyed. Then things got comical. She brought the bill, I set out $100 bill, she took it away. She brought back five $20 bills. She could have taken what I owed her but she decided to make a second trip for both of us. Nice. I had two more meals there and the service was really good - once for dinner and once for breakfast. The eggs, bacon, and sausage I ate over the course of two days were okay. The braised short ribs I ate for dinner was the best meal I had there. The short ribs were braised well, and fork tender. The root veggies they served with it were not great. Overall, if you're staying at the Doubletree and don't have a car, this is a good place to eat. If you can walk or find some other mode of transportation, I'd eat elsewhere. read more

4 1/2 Stars I've been a Rohnert Park local forever and tried this hotel restaurant ages ago when it was a Red Lion Hotel, and also after it became a DoubleTree Hotel. The DoubleTree has evolved over the years and so has its restaurant now called Bacchus. I am impressed with the current upscale setting and ambiance that Bacchus presents, especially for Rohnert Park. It is easily the nicest restaurant in the city since the Latitude restaurant is gone. It has been years since I've had dinner or lunch at Bacchus, but I did have breakfast today there. Breakfast is actually very important to me experientially, and I've eaten at literally every breakfast place in the entire area multiple times. I have to say that Bacchus is probably the best breakfast place around here. I came in just after 11:00am when they end breakfast, but they seated me and served me breakfast anyway, that was very nice of them. The person who first helped me was Sarah and she turned out to be the Food & Beverage Supervisor for the hotel & restaurant. The best way for me to determine how good a breakfast is, is to first order the "vanilla" items like, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, juice, tea and/or coffee. I have to say that every single one of these items were prepared and cooked to perfection. I had a fabulous breakfast! The best in the Rohnert Park, Cotati, Sebastopol area. The only reason I am not giving Bacchus (for breakfast) 5 stars is because my server Christine was not as warm and friendly as a server should be in a nice restaurant like Bacchus. Christine was very efficient and attentive, but also she appeared "appropriate" which means professional but a little distant. I can tell Christine was a nice person, but I am writing a critique here. A five star dining experience for me includes a wonderful interaction, no matter how fleeting, with my server. I did however have a very wonderful interaction with Sarah, the supervisor at Bacchus. I told her how pleased I was with the upscale decor, furnishings, and delicious food. Sarah was quite warm, friendly, and engaging during our short conversation. Sarah left me with a classy gift from the hotel and restaurant---a lovely tin of home made chocolate chip cookies. I rate Bacchus for breakfast with a solid 4 1/2 stars and have no doubt they are capable of consistent 5 star experiences if/when the servers receive a small amount of interpersonal communication/interaction training (I am not talking about Sarah). We got a breakfast buffet deal with our hotel stay since this week was our family reunion out in Santa Rosa. The restaurant was laid out very well, having all the rustic qualities any hotel near wineries would have. Now, the buffet was over-skimpy as would a McDonald's burger would be. There were not a lot of options: Blintzes (were decent), eggs (mixed in with bits of bacon/onion), bacon (crispy but greasy), a cook that will make-your-own omelet, an array of breads (just a hint: if a restaurant has a TON of bread, that is most likely it's specialty), juices, coffee, and some seasonal fruit. There was also a separate table for oatmeal and cereal. The service was horrific. Seemed like the servers previous night out on the town showed, as they were more concerned about lolly-gagging around as if customers were non existent. Poor service and nothing much other than a "continental" breakfast menu isn't much to go with. We enjoy sitting outside to dine. Here you can enjoy tall colums covered in greenery, large palm trees, and a small garden. The menu is very simple, nothing fancy. My Cesar salad was good. The linguini and shrimp with parmesan wasn't anything special...I think the parm was from a shelf stable container? My husband enjoyed his beef pot roast with carrots, brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. He said the meat was "fall off the bone tender". Service wasn't bad but not exceptional. We came to Bacchus, well, because we had a gift card. Let's be real here. We probably would have never eaten here if it wasn't for that. My husband and I arrived at around 6PM on a Saturday night. The place was absolutely empty and they seated us in the front area which, honestly, felt like we were sitting in a large open hotel lobby. Which it was. Guests were coming and going and it was super uncomfortable sitting there eating our meal. We each ordered a glass of wine which came promptly. We got the artichoke and calamari fritto and the calamari were like rubber bands. My husband made eye contact with our waitress about four different times and finally had to physically flag her down for a second drink. We each got the flat iron steaks which were cooked to order, but the presentation on both of our plates as well as the appetizer was sloppy. My husband stated that our plates looked akin to airline food, if that let's you know how appetizing it looked. This led me to feel like the chef could care less about the food he/she was putting out. Our steaks arrived with about a 1/4 cup slab of ice cold butter on top of them that was not flavored well and honestly cooled down the rest of my food. The macaroni and cheese was the highlight of the meal. It was creamy and flavorful, but as I said there was cheese sauce all over the cast iron skillet that it was served in. Just sloppy. Our waitress must have gone on break halfway through our meal (though she didn't say anything) as we had a different one for the last 2/3rds of our meal. We will not return to Bacchus. It is a shame that in Sonoma county where good food is so bountiful that many tourists will end up eating here and think that it is the best that our county has to offer. I hope that Bacchus steps up their service and food in the future because they have a beautiful central location in Rohnert Park. It seems they chose to live up to the stereotype of bland hotel food which is, as I said, a shame. read more

I stay here often for work and I've eaten almost every item on the menu. Try these: Breakfast buffet (chef will do omlets too), Salmon Romesco, Shrimp cocktail, Mediterranean plate, Flatbread pizza, Petaluma Chicken or the Salumi board. They will also add the salmon or chicken to one of their salads or even to the roasted cauliflower dish. Avoid the Portobello turkey burger; it's really awful. Staff is friendly. I had a dinner here with my girlfriend and to our disappointment, the restaurants attempt at high quality good and fancy decor did not deliver. We stayed at the DoubleTree Wine Country Hotel and this restaurant was the closest being right downstairs. We saw that the reviews were VERY POOR but we wanted to give it a shot. We should have listened to the previous guest. I ordered the Pork Chop for $20 and my girlfriend got the Pine Wood Salmon which was $22 and we ended our meal with a Creme Brulee. I also had a specialty drink which I don't remember what it was but it was very limey. The Pork Chop was actually quite good and juicy to my surprise but what turned me off was the apple vegatable and the poor attempt at potato wedges. My girlfriends Salmon came out in a very generous portion for a piece of salmon and came out on a Pine Wood platter which was very appealing. They did a good job garnishing the dish but again, the food wasn't as appealing in taste as we would hope it was on our eyes. The fish didn't really taste that fresh. It wasn't frozen that's for sure but it wasn't the best piece of salmon for such a fancy looking restaurant. Our food was barely edible and was waayyyyyyyy over priced for its quality. Such low standards in the kitchen. 2 Stars. Don't eat here if you are staying at this hotel. Go for a run to Burger King or starve for the night and eat something better tomorrow night. 2 Stars ! read more
