I have lived in BR for 6 years now. Many departments at LSU take guests there and in that time, Building 5 has done nothing to improve its parking lot. The restaurant sits underneath an overpass and the parking is pothole marked unpaved gravel. This means that there is no room for wheelchairs or accommodations for anyone who is differently-abled to get into the restaurant. The whole restaurant makes no room for handicapped persons. On the occasion I did get food, the food is slightly overpriced. All meats were cooked adequately but the food was lukewarm probably owing to sitting in the kitchen under the heat lamp than being delivered promptly. When I have gone, I regularly have to ask for refills on soda as I am the designated driver often for department functions. Servers pay you no heed if you do not buy alcohol. Because I go here because of academic reasons, I would barely go here myself. I've been here many times and found it wanting. It's an ableist place in its infrastructure. It's fine I'm atmosphere as a cocktail bar but would little recommend it to people I call friend.

I've driven down Essen multiple times but never knew about this place. It's a nice quaint, very much South Louisiana spot that serves breakfast and lunch. The staff were very kind and friendly. Now I didn't get a breakfast burrito this time, instead I got a breakfast bowl which was soooo good! It's great if you want something healthy and quick in a pinch. Most of the ingredients looked fresh, with the exception of a few fresh veggies that seemed like they were starting to get mushy on the bottom. They have tons of options for the base, toppings, and what looked to be at least 15 different dressings/ sauces. They offer fresh fruit, hot soups, and even a nacho bar which is cool. They also offer to chop your bowl to mix everything up a little better. The only negative feedback I have is about the price of the bowls. They're $10.99/ lb and my bowl was a little shy of halfway full, but was already there. The soups are $7.99/lb and based off of the broccoli cheddar soup we got, I would 100% NOT recommend it. It was very salty and tasted a little too much like chicken broth, lacking the entire meaning of the name. The checkout process is pretty quick as you weigh one bowl at a time. Salad Station takes Apple Pay/ tap(?) and you can earn points across all of their locations. They also offer a 10% military discount, but what was strange is that they won't apply it to the whole ticket, only one item. So the overall value of the food here is okay, but it's one of the better options in the area and it's very clean with minimal health code violations. I would return but not too often.
