This is a review in 2 parts. Hold on to your britches, because ours almost caught on fire. Part 1: Last night was our first visit to Cava. I've been wanting to try it for awhile, so my husband, myself, and our youngest finally stopped in. The concept is delicious. It's the Chipotle of Mediterranean food but better. So many choices and all fresh! My husband and I settled on the Build Your Own Pita after waffling back and forth between the curated bowls and pitas. I chose the Kid's Meal for the 3-year-old. Ordering was smooth. We picked out everything we wanted. Grilled Chicken pitas and all the fixings and unlimited toppings for us. Our daughter had grilled chicken and hummus on her kids plate. We settled in for the yumminess. And that's where it got interesting. I popped a bite of chicken in my daughter's mouth, and she immediately yelled it was too spicy while grappling for her water. She's admittedly a bit dramatic at age 3, so I tried a bite while telling her it wasn't spicy. Mama was wrong. That chicken was HOT. I asked her dad to try it. He took a bite and said, "Tastes like grilled chicken to me....ohhh nope! There's the burn!" And he started gluggling down root beer like it was the last glass on earth. I took her plate back up. The staff tried the chicken on the line. It was fine. They offered to remake her plate...then they tried the chicken again...oh crap. The two chickens got mixed up. So I'm pretty sure she got the Harissa Honey Chicken. One of the staff was even breathing deeply through her mouth to try to cool her tongue after finding the offending chicken. No prob on our end. They chopped new chicken from the back, I took it to my kid, and sat back down. Then my husband and I took a bite of our pitas. Double crap. We got the wrong chicken too. The line was clear to the door. Not wanting to be those people who complain about everything, we were like, "I guess we are doing this then." I got halfway through my pita before giving up because my mouth couldn't take it anymore. My husband finished his. Waste not, want not and all that. Part 2: The real adventure began around noon today. Our dinner last night had had almost 18 hours in our digestive tracts. My husband experienced the gloriousness of Harissa Honey Chicken on it's way out first. I got a strongly worded cautionary text from him at 11:50am. Pain. That basically described his experience in the bathroom stall at work in a nutshell. My adventures started a few hours later. The good Lord did warn of trials and tribulations in this life, but I don't believe He was thinking of Harissa Honey Chicken exiting the digestive tract at the time. Is it possible for something to be hotter coming out than it is going in? Yes. Oh my gosh. Yes. In conclusion: Although my husband and I are now very gingerly sitting as our poor butts recover from the fiery inferno we very politely put them through, we would give Cava 5 out of 5 stars for taste and freshness. Except for the Harissa Honey Chicken. While tasty, only get that if you like to live on the edge. And if you get it unexpectedly while expecting something else, go ahead and be the person who requests a remake on your food. Your butt will thank you. read more

First of all I ordered a wrap TO-GO!!!!! and asked for no tomatoes which they accidentally put on my wrap. No big deal, they actually gave me the meal for free. All was good until I pulled it out of the bag and it's was sopping wet and dripping all over the place. So I had to go back INSIDE the store and eat it at a table because no way was I going to get myself and car dirty. THEN i took it out of the bag and there was so much food in the wrap it WOULD NOT WRAP. They quite literally gave me an unwrap. We had such a positive experience when we tried Cava for the first time! Milla walked us through the process and even let us a sample a few things to help us decide. She was kind, patient, and very knowledgeable. Milla rocks! The food Milla helped us select was delicious, filling, and fresh! We will absolutely be repeat customers. I wanted something fresh and healthy, so I tried Cava based on my sister's suggestion. I ordered the SPICY CHICKEN + AVOCADO wrap, and it was delicious and a good size. So, apparently they recommend not ordering it for pickup. If you want your food hot, they make the order the moment they get it, and the "ready by" time is way off. They have no microwave to warm anything up. They also don't have any knives, so they can't cut the wraps in half. Truly bizarre experience. *No idea why they call the falafel pita crunchy. It was soggy. Nothing crunchy. Also couldn't taste anything except cumin which I've never tasted in falafel before and I hope I never taste that combo again. read more

Everyone I know in Texas always talks about this place and imagine my surprise when I found out it was in Kansas! When they first opened, the lines were insanely long. There were so many options unavailable. It seriously made me hesitant coming here again. But I've been slacking on my meal prepping so I went here again around 3pm. It was much better. They gave a lot more food and just seemed less stressed out. I appreciate Cava a lot more now. They seemed to have learned from opening week and are trying to make the customer experience as good as possible. I have been itching to try this place and when I finally did it was just mediocre with a high price tag. If you want fresh Greek bowl then this is the spot but be prepared to dish out $16 to $18 per bowl. When I went they were out of the falafel (which is fine I just went with the chicken) but then they were out of the corn, the Persian cucumbers, tomato and onions, and even some of the sauces! Anything additional on your bowl is an extra $2 which is absurd especially with how overpriced the bowls are already. On the screen they also had this blueberry lavender drink I wanted to try and the cashier hands me my cup and tells me to go fill it up around the corner. I try to fill up my drink but lo and behold there was no drink container. I turn back to the cashier and she proceeds to tell me their out of the drink. Just disappointing. What a fabulous soft opening last night (7/28). The line was all around the restaurant but truly moved very fast. This is like a Mediterranean version of Bibibop or Chipotle. You start with greens, grains or pita then work your way down adding toppings. The toppings are abundant and fresh. They were out of the falafel at the time we built our bowls but nothing else. There is truly a topping for every one and some curated bowls if you aren't feeling creative. There is also an abundance of non-alcohol drinks to choose from. Mediterranean chipotle This location needs to realize that vegetarians/vegans will come in expecting a falafel bowl. I was told at the top of the lunch hour (11:45) that falafel would not be ready for another hour?! Also told they were out of corn, out of cucumbers. Two things that are inexplicable. Up charge of $2.35 for avocado is laughable. Also refused to accept cash? What is going on here? Otherwise flavors are just fine. A national chain, so I'd recommend supporting Mediterranean Taste or falafel express instead which are both nearby, local, more authentic. read more

I really enjoyed my meal- tons of flavor! It was a lemon chicken bowl and I added avocado (upcharge I was happy to pay).
