Falafel bowl with rice and salad Small hummus. Both delicious

Nice place, very clean. Service was great and they had good suggestions. I got the falafel bowl with half rice, half salad as the base and picked 2 sauces: Zhoug and Tzatziki. Some of the best falafel I've ever had and it's gluten free to boot. Also had a strawberry dragon fruit tea that was good.

The only positive thing about this restaurant is that it was bright and clean. The servers were the RUDEST I've experienced in a long time at any restaurant. We had never been to this restaurant before and their "order here" sign is up high above a beverage case and the other two customers we saw did the same thing we did, which is go to the end of the counter. They were rude to us and the other people about that. Have the sign lower at the beginning of the line if this is so irritating to you. Then when we did order they were absolutely rude and barely would answer or if they did it was in a snippety tone. We both ordered a bowl and mine was with a rice base with chicken shawarma, the rice seemed old and barely warm and the chicken was dried out. My husband had a salad base with lamb and he said his was just okay but the lamb was very tiny slices. It was 5 pm on a Saturday and there was only 1 other couple there while all the surrounding restaurants were busy... I am not surprised! Don't waste your money.

New Mediterranean spot for fast casual food. Overall decent and perfect place for quick lunch. I had the gyro platter served with rice and side of falafel. Huge portion, though that meal combo is on pricier side. Worth the stop in.

This is a place I've had my eye on since I noticed the work going on, but time got away and I hadn't stopped in until 2 days ago. I was slightly impressed with the setup. As another Yelper noted, it's kind of like Chipotle, where you build your meal. One downside I noted is that while the pic on the menu of the pita shows it sitting on a bed of fries, the fries are not actually included. Also I found it interesting that the pita used is flat like a tortilla and not regular pita bread, which is available with the hummus ordered with other menu items like the bowls. The gyro meat is cooked properly onsite, but then transfered to a container at the counter for service, not carved for each gyro order. Having said that, the gyro meat was tasteful while being sliced very thin. I prefer slightly thicker slices for my Gyros. We sat inside although there is also outdoor seating available. We decided that this would be a great place to grab and go for lunch, and plan to do that next time.

Went here with a few friends, for those that don't know it is the Mediterranean version of Chipotle. You walk-in and approach the counter and let them know what main dish you want. Bowl, Pita or Platter. Within each of those there are different options of protein and sides. As you go down the counter there is other options for add in ingredients. The flavors were good and you got a lot of food for the price.

Imagine a Chipotle style build your own burrito or bowl...but with FRESH and VIBRANT Mediterranean ingredients? If this sounds delicious to you...then you need to check out Zhoug Mediterranean! Build a bowl, salad, or a burrito, and stuff it with Mediterranean meats, veggies, and sauces. This spot also serves up mouthwatering baklava, perfectly seasoned fries, and amazing appetizer options. You can't visit without trying the hummus! The location in Lenexa is open, spacious, and very clean. The staff is friendly and the ownership is also thrilled to see customers in their dining area. I will 100% be visiting this spot again!

First off, let me just say that I thought the food was pretty good, but they are a long way from 5 star for me. First impressions: the space is quite odd. It's very large, open and clean, but there's a distinct lack of tables that made it feel very cold and empty. Secondly, the acoustics are truly dreadful. Not one of us could hear the employees across the sneeze guard. We kept having to ask them to repeat themselves. Annoying for customers but I'm sure especially annoying for the workers. They need to get some acoustic clouds or something so that sound isn't getting lost in the 4 ft across the sneeze guard/food. My dad got the standard gyro, my mom, the salad, and I got the chicken shawarma with tzatziki and toum, along with some other toppings. My dad got an order of fries to share as well as a baklava (which really wasn't quite large enough to share). We ended up sitting outside since it was so cold inside and again, the acoustics just made it uncomfortable. Like sitting in a hallway. Fries took a couple of mins to come out. They were worth the wait - delicious! All the food was pretty good. I will say that some pieces on my chicken were so dry that the texture got really hard and my mom got both the zhoug and the harissa (too hot for her, not their fault but fyi). It was reasonably pleasant outside. Baklava was good but its was maybe 2"x2" so we each got like 2 bites. My advice for management would be to make the space feel more inviting. I get that they were going for chipotle style minimalism in the design, but it was like 2x the size of a chipotle and super empty. Personally I prefer Cava for this kind of concept, a little more variety. But I like Meddy's or Jerusalem cafe for an upscale fast casual concept, with better food to match. Again, I thought this was pretty good but there are better versions of Mediterranean fast casual around that I prefer.

Amazing for lunch, healthy operation , great food for the proteins after or before a workout.

Agreeing with another poster- I didn't know it was "fast food" however--this picture says it all. This is the "pita" I received with the hummus in my take out order. We also tried the falafel, which was fine, and decent fries. With Holy Land, Meddy's, and Cava as superior Mediterranean offerings in the vicinity, this will be my first and only try of Zhoug. For the money, the taste, and fluffy, delicious fresh pita....there are better options...

Falafel bowl and gyro platter to go!

Really delicious food, the workers are very nice and good at explaining how ordering works and what the options are! Would definitely recommend, will be back!

It's a quick easy stop for Mediterranean food. In my opinion, it's fine. Nothing spectacular.

The food is delicious. They have the best falafel in town. They also have pita chips which I love to get with my meal. Highly recommend.

The food was not only flavorful but also reasonably priced, with a menu full of appetizers, salads, soups, wraps, sandwiches, and desserts. The chicken kebab plate I selected was very flavorful with rice, well-prepared seasoned roasted vegetables and a side of tzatziki sauce. The chicken was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. The Pistachio Baklava dessert was a delightful conclusion, enjoyed immediately rather than being saved for later with coffee as originally planned. We were greeted as we walked in, and was given a sample of hummus to try . The atmosphere is very quiet, cozy very relaxing place to visit. The salad, pita and hummus, came with the plate and everything was delicious. I tried the Kefta kabob plate with mixed meats. Basha Bash: I really wanted to love this spot. Based on the…read morestellar reviews, I was excited for a hidden Greek gem in the heart of OP, but unfortunately, our experience was far from an "Opa!" moment. The Service I arrived first and the place was nearly empty, yet the energy felt frantic. The server/ hostess was very rushed and business-like but seemed overwhelmed, running around like a chicken with her head cut off. After declining a black tea multiple times (once they realized they were out of chai), We had to practically stop her in mid-step for every follow-up once the rest of my party arrived. She never stopped on her own to ask us if we needed anything or if we were enjoying our meal. The Food The meal was a series of "weird" choices: The Hummus Situation: Our entrees were supposed to come with hummus, Rice and a side salad. Instead of serving The hummus with the entree, it was plopped onto the side salad plate before the entree arrived. I've eaten a lot of Mediterranean food, and I've never seen it served that way. The Garlic Sauce: This was a huge letdown. It looked and tasted like straight mayonnaise with a hint of garlic powder--not the authentic, pungent toum or A fresh bright white garlic sauce you'd expect. The tzatziki sauce might have been the best thing on the plate as it tasted fresh and authentic. The Meat: This was a Jekyll and Hyde as some of the meat was tender but some was overcooked and it was like that for everybody's meal whether they got beef, lamb or chicken. The Rice: Every entree was served over saffron rice that was dry, almost like it had been sitting out sunbathing for the day. The Falafel: Good crunch, but the inside was on the dry side. The Vibe As someone with a background in the industry, one thing really stood out: while our server was struggling to keep up with the only two tables in the restaurant, a cook with an apron was sitting in the lobby looking bored and disinterested. It's never a good look for staff to be lounging in front of customers regardless of how busy the restaurant is. Final Verdict Maybe it was just an off night, but for the price point, it doesn't compete. When you compare the quality and value to places like Meddys, Darna, or Mr. Gyros, this was extremely subpar. Sadly, I won't be rushing back.
