I visited today and was dearly disappointed. I love Mediterranean food, but in taste, this didn't cut it for me. While the staff was friendly, they messed up my order, and the food was just off. I asked what ordering it "Jerusalem style" meant, and upon hearing it included pickles, said "Oh, no thank you." It had pickles anyway. I asked for extra tomatoes on my salad and meal, and if that was extra tomatoes then I shudder to think of what the normal amount looks like. They also left the onions off both. The salad was a bit strange to me. When I hear "Greek salad", I'm picturing crumbly feta and a light vinaigrette. I can definitely give allowances for salad dressing because everywhere does it differently, but this was creamy and not particularly good. I don't particularly like having to use a knife on salad anyway, but if I wanted any tomatoes or cheese, it was necessary. I didn't expect the carrots or red cabbage, but that's on me, even if I still think it's odd. The weirdest part was the feta- a few cubes of hard feta. There just was no way to incorporate it into the salad itself. I appreciate the chill vibe of the place, but I will not be back. read more

Yay great GLUTEN FREE MENU HERE!!!! What a little jem we just found out about, was planning a Culvers visit when we saw this place. Daughter is celiac abd always looking for good gluten free food options. From the outside window you might just pass on by as it looks like some sort of health food place. Once inside they have great photos, a nice menu, and a very inviting space! Food seems similar to Meddys which we love but with maybe a more authentic flair. I was really looking forward to trying Jerusalem Café in Mission for the first time since I've already tried most of the great Middle Eastern restaurants around KC. But honestly, I was a bit disappointed because I didn't feel the food was worth the price for the portion size. I ordered the combo kebab platter with beef kofta and lamb skewers, which came with two sides and that's basically all that's on the plate with one 4 small cuts of pita bread and some rice. It was priced at $21 plus tax. The food tasted good, but the meat portions were very small. The kofta had a nice smoky flavor but was really thin and kinda short, and there was only one lamb skewer stick with 4-5 mid sized pieces which were seasoned well but felt a little chewy. For that price, I expected more meat in my plate! Other places like Meddys, Hummus & Pita Co or Yafa Café serve larger portions for a similar or even lower price and honestly, their food tastes even better in my opinion. Overall, I'd give the food 3.5 to 4/5 for taste, and the overall experience also 3/5, mainly because of the portion size and pricing. Otherwise the restaurant itself was clean with good decor and had some pretty wall art. The staff were really sweet and happy to serve us with a wait time of around 8-10 mins. This review is for a to-go experience so I did not experience the inside dining area. Ordered a gyro platter along with spanakopita and hummus as side items and one of their mango drinks. The meat itself was good, and while I am not used to cheese being melted on top of my Mediterranean meat, especially gyro, it was not a bad combination. The rice was good, but there were orange slices that mixed in with the rice, giving it an unusual sweet flavor. Tzatziki and garlic sauce were also a little different than what I am used to. Not necessarily bad, just different compared to other Mediterranean places in the area. Same with the hot sauce in the hummus; it tasted more like the sweet and spicy sauce you'd put on a sandwich. I did notice the prices for call ahead on their app are higher than in store. They don't use fancy to go containers, so not sure why the surcharge. We both enjoyed the mango drink. read more

I stopped in here for a late dinner since I had seen it multiple times while driving past but had never stopped in. Not sure how long they have been in this location since it is a bit hard to find, the inside looks like it is fairly new but reviews are at least a year old. I ordered a Gyro and Lentil soup. Food can out fast, the Gyro was good and had good amount of meat. I felt like the soup was an afterthought because it was more of a dipping size container but flavors were good. read more

I've been here twice and have had positive experiences. The first time I ordered online and it was ready to go when I arrived. The most recent visit, I stopped in and ordered but still took it to go. Everyone I've interacted with has been friendly and service has been super fast. They do have a large space and even a really nice patio. I love the beef/lamb gyro. That's my go to. It's always super tender and the flavors are just amazing. Produce on the sandwich is fresh. And it's honestly one of my favorite spots to get a gyro from. Sides-I like the lentil soup and the rice. Both have really good flavor. The soup is awesome in the winter and the rice is a tasty staple. I'm so happy to have another Jerusalem cafe closer to my home. Highly recommend! read more

This was a fun spot to try on my work trip. One of the hiccups was my DoorDash order was originally lost and it had to be remade, but they made it efficiently and it only took an extra 20 minutes. I got a crispy steak Shawarma, which was flavored perfectly and I loved the onions. I also got a hummus and falafel plate. This appetizer was not my favorite as the pita was slightly burnt, and I'm not a huge fan of crispy pita as I was expecting the soft pita to dip in the hummus, The hummus also had more oil on the top then normal and I felt like this really took away from the overall flavor. The Shawarma was incredible, however, and I will be recommending it to my coworkers that are in the area. read more

This new location is very clean inside and has a great patio if you are looking for covered and good food. We got the a gyro sandwich and platter. The gyro meat was perfect and so was the Tzatziki sauce. I found it interesting the standard is putting sliced cheese on the gyro meat for the platter but I asked for just feta and I was happy with that decision. The original gyro with choice of two sides (reasonably priced at $12.93) was ready just six minutes after I ordered at the counter, where the service was welcoming, polite, hospitable and helpful with a genuine interest in feedback - nice! The platter included a gyro on a fresh, warm, 6" pita with plenty of delicious, moist chicken, along with flavorful saffron rice and a Greek salad with a tasty, light dressing. I haven't been to Jerusalem Cafe in at least a decade, when they were in their old-old location in Westport. When we last went it was run down and not very clean. The new version is such a vast improvement! Spotless, insanely friendly service, and stylish decor. And the food!? Incredible! Not a weak one in the bunch. My manakeesh was great. It's been a while since I visited Jerusalem Cafe's old Westport location, and their new one in OP is much more modern and organized, but our food was hit or miss. We stopped by Jerusalem Cafe for an early dinner and ordered the combo kebob and Jerusalem combo mezza, as well as kunafa dessert. Our combo kebob came with our choice of two kebobs (we got lamb and shrimp) and two appetizers (we got soup and salad). The shrimp kebob was good, but the lamb was flavorless and VERY chewy. Our salad was a lot of sad and soggy lettuce, and the soup had no flavor. The Jerusalem combo came with falafel, hummus and baba ganoush, which were all pretty good, as well as grape leaves, which again lacked flavor. Our kunafa dessert was perfectly sweet and cheesy, I highly recommend ordering this if you are getting a treat there! Service was very quick and it was not crowded at all, very casual vibes and the prices are very reasonable. I would like to stop back and try some different dishes, but my recommendation for now would be to stay away from the kebobs, salad, or soup and order the hummus, falafel, and kunafa. read more

I got takeout... they honored my wishes to skip the plastic utensils I ordered the mixed appetizer combo (falafel, dolmas, tabbouleh, baba ghanouj and hummus) with extra pita (the pita it comes with won't be enough). Ordered a salad to go. Two olives, two cubes of feta, two chunks of crunchy, grainy tomato and a ton of really large chunks of very wet romaine. No dressing just a small (maybe two TBS) of taziki. Counter service was quick and efficient, and the ambiance was what you'd expect from a fast-food spot. We ordered two sandwiches on pita with two sides. The lentil soup was the standout--rich and flavorful. The Greek salad, however, was underwhelming, with just one Kalamata olive, a single chunk of feta, and lettuce drenched in dressing. The chicken in the sandwich was scrappy and dry, but the beef was tender and generously portioned.
